rule_n deliver_v to_o they_o as_o god_n please_v in_o those_o time_n moses_n david_n and_o paul_n have_v the_o same_o thing_n for_o their_o rule_n that_o be_v the_o word_n of_o god_n but_o commit_v to_o write_v for_o the_o church_n use_v in_o their_o time_n to_o that_o word_n new_a i_o answer_v that_o the_o rule_n be_v the_o same_o still_o that_o be_v the_o reveal_a will_n of_o god_n there_o be_v nothing_o new_a but_o the_o write_v and_o that_o be_v now_o old_a but_o what_o be_v this_o to_o my_o question_n which_o be_v if_o the_o scripture_n be_v not_o the_o rule_n what_o be_v the_o rule_n hereunto_o he_o give_v a_o crafty_a but_o no_o clear_a answer_n he_o seem_v to_o say_v that_o be_v the_o rule_n which_o the_o holy_a man_n of_o god_n who_o name_n he_o put_v down_o walk_v by_o i_o ask_v he_o again_o but_o what_o be_v that_o rule_n which_o they_o walk_v by_o if_o he_o think_v it_o to_o be_v the_o word_n of_o god_n whether_o reveal_v without_o write_v as_o at_o first_o or_o write_v as_o afterward_o why_o do_v he_o not_o say_v so_o and_o so_o yield_v that_o the_o word_n write_v be_v now_o our_o rule_n if_o he_o think_v the_o inward_a light_n which_o quaker_n dream_v of_o to_o be_v the_o rule_n than_o i_o ask_v he_o again_o how_o shall_v we_o try_v whether_o that_o pretend_a light_n be_v a_o rule_n to_o walk_v by_o for_o he_o be_v a_o fool_n that_o believe_v every_o thing_n now_o this_o he_o huddle_v up_o and_o speak_v something_o to_o no_o purpose_n general_o and_o guileful_o but_o nothing_o determinate_o all_o he_o say_v be_v this_o that_o by_o the_o same_o touchstâ—ne_n that_o those_o holy_a man_n prove_v the_o light_n they_o walk_v by_o the_o same_o and_o no_o other_o do_v i_o own_o a_o own_o here_o i_o shall_v not_o examine_v whether_o this_o author_n that_o be_v so_o exact_a in_o grammar_n in_o the_o latter_a part_n of_o his_o book_n speak_v so_o good_a sense_n as_o he_o shall_v do_v i_o leave_v that_o to_o the_o reader_n but_o since_o he_o speak_v of_o holy_a man_n touchstone_n i_o shall_v propound_v unto_o he_o the_o approve_a example_n of_o the_o berean_n who_o prove_v paul_n doctrine_n as_o paul_n be_v willing_a they_o shall_v prove_v it_o to_o wit_v by_o search_v the_o scripture_n let_v he_o prove_v his_o light_n by_o the_o same_o touchstone_n that_o these_o holy_a and_o noble_a person_n do_v and_o it_o shall_v suffice_v if_o he_o say_v paul_n prove_v not_o his_o own_o light_n so_o i_o reply_v 1._o that_o there_o be_v a_o great_a difference_n between_o 〈◊〉_d that_o receive_v his_o light_n immediate_o from_o christ_n extraordinary_a revelation_n they_o to_o who_o any_o such_o be_v reveal_v before_o the_o word_n of_o god_n be_v write_v believe_v it_o because_o of_o the_o certainty_n of_o those_o way_n of_o revelation_n which_o god_n be_v please_v to_o use_v then_o but_o since_o the_o church_n of_o god_n have_v have_v the_o scripture_n holy_a man_n have_v believe_v the_o truth_n of_o god_n and_o this_o in_o particular_a after_o it_o please_v god_n to_o record_v it_o because_o of_o scripture-revelation_n but_o after_o this_o answer_n of_o his_o question_n i_o must_v call_v he_o again_o to_o i_o and_o ask_v he_o once_o more_o wâ—eâ—eupon_o he_o believe_v that_o christ_n be_v the_o true_a light_n that_o enlighten_v every_o man_n that_o come_v into_o the_o world_n if_o he_o say_v he_o believe_v it_o be_v extraordinary_a revelation_n let_v he_o show_v and_o prove_v such_o a_o revelation_n which_o be_v now_o as_o needless_a as_o to_o do_v that_o in_o a_o extraordinary_a way_n which_o be_v already_o do_v in_o a_o ordinary_a way_n if_o he_o say_v he_o believe_v it_o because_o the_o scripture_n joh._n 1.9_o say_v so_o than_o i_o say_v still_o he_o must_v believe_v and_o build_v on_o that_o scripture_n first_o and_o so_o grant_v the_o scripture_n to_o be_v the_o ground_n of_o faith_n otherwise_o the_o house_n and_o edifice_n of_o quaker_n will_v fall_v for_o want_n of_o a_o foundation_n
