text_n be_v those_o which_o be_v take_v by_o themselves_o do_v upon_o the_o first_o sight_n or_o sound_v of_o the_o word_n seem_v to_o have_v a_o plain_a sense_n and_o meaning_n which_o yet_o be_v not_o to_o be_v understand_v in_o that_o sense_n the_o word_n will_v be_v upon_o the_o first_o read_v of_o they_o and_o these_o be_v the_o hard_a place_n in_o god_n word_n which_o be_v most_o pervert_v and_o take_v in_o such_o sense_n as_o the_o holy_a ghost_n never_o intend_v for_o than_o be_v a_o hard_a place_n like_o to_o be_v wrest_v when_o it_o seem_v plain_a to_o he_o who_o do_v not_o understand_v it_o and_o a_o difficult_a text_n may_v seem_v plain_a to_o he_o who_o for_o want_v of_o study_v and_o consider_v think_v he_o understand_v it_o but_o do_v not_o i_o shall_v instance_n in_o some_o difficult_a text_n of_o the_o latter_a sort_n which_o have_v be_v mistake_v for_o plain_a that_o be_v erroneous_o take_v to_o have_v such_o a_o meaning_n as_o they_o appear_v to_o have_v upon_o the_o first_o read_v in_o the_o nine_o chapter_n of_o the_o epistle_n to_o the_o roman_n we_o have_v these_o word_n that_o it_o may_v not_o be_v of_o work_n but_o of_o he_o that_o call_v some_o take_v this_o for_o a_o plain_a place_n and_o therefore_o think_v it_o a_o clear_a scriptural_a truth_n that_o our_o salvation_n be_v not_o at_o all_o of_o our_o work_n but_o only_o proceed_v from_o a_o absolute_a decree_n of_o heaven_n so_o again_o we_o have_v it_o affirm_v by_o the_o apostle_n in_o the_o same_o chapter_n it_o be_v not_o of_o he_o that_o will_v nor_o of_o he_o that_o run_v but_o of_o god_n that_o show_v mercy_n hence_o some_o think_v it_o be_v plain_a in_o scripture_n that_o what_o we_o do_v signify_v little_a all_o be_v from_o a_o arbitrary_a favour_n of_o god_n again_o in_o the_o 1_o cor._n 4._o 7._o we_o find_v these_o word_n who_o make_v thou_o to_o differ_v from_o another_o from_o the_o sound_n of_o which_o word_n some_o gather_v that_o we_o be_v not_o free_a agent_n in_o our_o own_o conversion_n but_o that_o if_o we_o be_v better_a than_o our_o neighbour_n it_o be_v a_o almighty_a power_n have_v make_v we_o so_o and_o not_o any_o free_a suppose_v they_o plain_a i._n e._n if_o we_o think_v they_o be_v to_o be_v take_v in_o that_o sense_n which_o they_o will_v bear_v at_o the_o first_o read_v than_o they_o be_v text_n undeniable_o repugnant_a to_o such_o place_n of_o st._n paul_n as_o all_o must_v believe_v and_o acknowledge_v to_o be_v plain_a for_o whereas_o he_o say_v that_o it_o may_v not_o be_v of_o work_n etc._n etc._n in_o another_o place_n he_o give_v we_o this_o plain_a precept_n work_v out_o your_o salvation_n be_v not_o salvation_n of_o work_n and_o 12._o yet_o must_v we_o work_v it_o out_o either_o therefore_o it_o be_v not_o true_a in_o the_o sense_n some_o take_v the_o word_n that_o salvation_n be_v not_o of_o work_n or_o it_o be_v not_o proper_a to_o bid_v we_o work_v it_o out_o wherefore_o by_o this_o plain_a place_n work_n out_o your_o salvation_n we_o must_v conclude_v that_o the_o other_o place_n that_o it_o may_v not_o be_v of_o work_n whatsoever_o the_o sense_n of_o it_o may_v be_v it_o can_v
