contempt_n and_o then_o let_v none_o think_v religion_n itself_o secure_a for_o the_o vulgar_a have_v not_o such_o logical_a head_n as_o to_o be_v able_a to_o abstract_n such_o subtle_a conception_n as_o to_o separate_v the_o man_n from_o the_o minister_n or_o to_o consider_v the_o same_o person_n under_o a_o double_a capacity_n and_o so_o honour_v he_o as_o a_o divine_a while_o they_o despise_v he_o as_o a_o poor_a but_o suppose_v they_o can_v yet_o action_n can_v distinguish_v as_o conception_n do_v and_o therefore_o every_o act_n of_o contempt_n it_o strike_v both_o and_o avoidable_o wound_v the_o ministry_n through_o the_o side_n of_o the_o minister_n and_o we_o must_v know_v that_o the_o least_o degree_n of_o contempt_n weaken_v religion_n because_o it_o be_v absolute_o contrary_a to_o the_o nature_n of_o it_o religion_n proper_o consist_v in_o a_o reverential_a esteem_n of_o thing_n sacred_a now_o that_o which_o in_o any_o measure_n weaken_v religion_n will_v at_o length_n destroy_v it_o for_o the_o weaken_n of_o a_o thing_n be_v only_o a_o partial_a destruction_n of_o it_o poverty_n and_o meanness_n of_o condition_n be_v expose_v the_o wise_a to_o scorn_v it_o be_v natural_a for_o man_n to_o place_v their_o esteem_n rather_o upon_o thing_n great_a than_o good_a and_o the_o poet_n observe_v that_o this_o infelix_fw-la &_o paupertas_fw-la have_v nothing_o in_o it_o more_o intolerable_a than_o this_o that_o it_o render_v man_n ridiculous_a and_o then_o how_o easy_a and_o natural_a it_o be_v for_o contempt_n to_o pass_v from_o the_o person_n to_o the_o office_n from_o he_o that_o speak_v to_o the_o thing_n that_o he_o speak_v of_o experience_n prove_v counsel_n be_v seldom_o value_v so_o much_o for_o the_o truth_n of_o the_o thing_n as_o the_o credit_n of_o he_o that_o give_v it_o observe_v a_o excellent_a passage_n to_o this_o purpose_n in_o the_o 9_o eccl._n 14.15_o we_o have_v a_o account_n of_o a_o little_a city_n with_o few_o man_n in_o it_o besiege_v by_o a_o great_a and_o potent_a king_n and_o in_o the_o 15._o v._n we_o read_v that_o there_o be_v find_v in_o it_o a_o poor_a wise_a man_n and_o he_o by_o his_o wisdom_n deliver_v the_o city_n a_o worthy_a service_n indeed_o and_o certain_o we_o may_v expect_v that_o some_o honourable_a recompense_n shall_v follow_v it_o a_o deliverer_n of_o his_o country_n and_o that_o in_o such_o distress_n can_v not_o but_o be_v advance_v but_o we_o find_v a_o contrary_a event_n in_o the_o next_o word_n of_o the_o same_o verse_n yet_o none_o remember_v that_o same_o poor_a man_n why_o what_o shall_v be_v the_o reason_n be_v he_o not_o a_o man_n of_o part_n and_o wisdom_n and_o be_v not_o wisdom_n honourable_a yes_o but_o he_o be_v poor_a
