one_o before_o or_o above_o another_o whereabout_o though_o i_o may_v seem_v to_o dissent_v from_o the_o receive_a opinion_n and_o learning_n of_o the_o world_n and_o therein_o be_v explode_v by_o some_o yet_o i_o trust_v and_o hope_n i_o shall_v in_o no_o wise_a wrench_n or_o screw_v that_o sacred_a word_n for_o my_o purpose_n nor_o much_o swerve_v from_o the_o true_a and_o genuine_a meaning_n of_o that_o which_o i_o allege_v to_o be_v the_o principal_a if_o not_o the_o only_a ground_n of_o my_o opinion_n i_o be_o not_o able_a to_o find_v out_o any_o great_a ground_n of_o contest_v to_o affection_n bare_o now_o that_o which_o we_o call_v the_o imagination_n or_o cogitation_n in_o the_o soul_n of_o man_n we_o find_v to_o be_v a_o unconstant_a flutter_v as_o well_o as_o a_o restless_a faculty_n which_o at_o no_o time_n can_v be_v find_v settle_v or_o make_v to_o fix_v long_o nay_o much_o or_o often_o upon_o any_o one_o single_a object_n unless_o some_o affection_n do_v first_o seem_v to_o draw_v it_o and_o set_v it_o on_o work_n and_o in_o a_o manner_n fasten_v it_o as_o its_o attendant_n for_o a_o time_n though_o then_o also_o it_o have_v some_o momentary_a flying_n out_o and_o extravagancy_n and_o though_o it_o be_v a_o thing_n undeniable_a that_o the_o imagination_n may_v often_o move_v or_o rouse_v some_o affection_n which_o be_v quiet_a before_o yet_o it_o be_v a_o thing_n as_o undeniable_a that_o the_o imagination_n or_o cogitation_n never_o create_v or_o make_v any_o affection_n more_o than_o any_o affection_n ever_o create_v that_o for_o we_o must_v agree_v they_o be_v contemporary_a in_o the_o soul_n and_o so_o neither_o have_v the_o precedency_n but_o yet_o where_o one_o seem_v to_o work_v more_o often_o in_o obedience_n and_o to_o some_o end_n and_o design_n or_o safe_a lodging_n or_o please_v of_o another_o we_o may_v allow_v that_o other_o some_o kind_n of_o excellency_n and_o so_o priority_n and_o this_o i_o be_o ready_a to_o afford_v to_o some_o affection_n lodge_v in_o the_o centre_n of_o the_o body_n or_o innermost_a place_n of_o recess_n for_o the_o soul_n there_o secret_o fix_v by_o its_o creator_n with_o some_o reason_n to_o direct_v and_o guide_v as_o well_o as_o imagination_n to_o whet_v it_o indeed_o the_o imagination_n and_o the_o affection_n when_o they_o be_v orderly_o or_o regular_o work_v if_o not_o at_o all_o time_n and_o season_n do_v whet_v and_o as_o it_o be_v give_v edge_n to_o each_o other_o but_o sure_o as_o the_o love_n of_o god_n far_o exceed_v the_o thought_n of_o he_o so_o the_o soul_n be_v a_o emanation_n at_o first_o from_o that_o spirit_n of_o love_n love_n of_o he_o may_v be_v say_v to_o be_v a_o cause_n of_o thought_n of_o he_o and_o that_o if_o the_o soul_n be_v not_o natural_o capable_a to_o love_v and_o tend_v some_o whither_o we_o can_v not_o so_o much_o as_o think_v sense_n must_v be_v agree_v while_o we_o live_v in_o the_o body_n to_o be_v the_o chief_a though_o not_o shall_v make_v a_o strange_a chimaera_n of_o the_o soul_n but_o not_o bare_o rest_v upon_o sense_n we_o may_v allow_v some_o prior_n inherent_a quality_n upon_o which_o by_o sense_n the_o imagination_n may_v seem_v attendant_a and_o in_o subjection_n to_o and_o though_o at_o some_o time_n the_o imagination_n do_v appear_v as_o the_o usher_n of_o the_o affection_n yet_o the_o least_o affection_n once_o kindle_v and_o something_o there_o must_v be_v allow_v to_o be_v kindle_v whether_o of_o itself_o burst_v out_o into_o flame_n or_o however_o inflame_v or_o kindle_v will_v often_o hale_v the_o thought_n to_o the_o object_n without_o any_o far_a help_n of_o sense_n but_o many_o thing_n be_v present_v to_o the_o imagination_n by_o sense_n upon_o which_o no_o affection_n seem_v to_o stir_v or_o move_v that_o we_o be_v able_a to_o discern_v and_o thereupon_o we_o may_v allow_v the_o imagination_n work_n or_o motion_n to_o be_v chief_o from_o something_o occult_a whatever_o use_v it_o sometime_o make_v of_o sense_n to_o which_o it_o be_v or_o may_v be_v in_o subjection_n and_o not_o prior_n but_o rather_o posterior_n sect_n ii_o that_o it_o seem_v to_o be_v in_o the_o affection_n rather_o than_o any_o other_o from_o scripture_n there_o be_v a_o common_a say_n how_o true_a i_o know_v not_o that_o life_n be_v first_o and_o last_o in_o that_o part_n of_o man_n body_n it_o or_o care_n for_o it_o and_o from_o the_o reflex_n of_o this_o light_n though_o the_o affection_n be_v sometime_o cool_v towards_o the_o world_n and_o bend_v and_o incline_v somewhat_o towards_o some_o great_a and_o more_o perfect_a good_a yet_o find_v it_o not_o they_o often_o sudden_o fall_v away_o again_o and_o know_v not_o where_o to_o fix_v by_o reflex_n from_o the_o first_o light_n that_o of_o sense_n only_o the_o world_n be_v see_v as_o beast_n see_v it_o for_o fleshly_a delight_n and_o for_o support_v and_o maintenance_n of_o the_o body_n but_o with_o this_o difference_n between_o we_o and_o they_o that_o their_o soul_n be_v of_o a_o bodily_a extract_n and_o terrestrial_a their_o affection_n move_v no_o further_o than_o in_o reference_n to_o some_o present_a utility_n of_o the_o thing_n of_o the_o world_n for_o the_o body_n we_o be_v celestial_a and_o of_o continuance_n for_o ever_o yet_o necessitate_v in_o respect_n of_o the_o body_n and_o for_o its_o sustentation_n to_o make_v use_n of_o this_o light_n from_o sense_n the_o concupiscible_a part_n of_o the_o soul_n be_v first_o and_o most_o often_o move_v from_o this_o light_n before_o reason_n appear_v and_o show_v herself_o and_o yet_o never_o full_o satisfy_v with_o any_o present_a thing_n it_o enjoy_v although_o it_o often_o receive_v its_o check_n from_o reflex_n of_o that_o second_o light_n if_o it_o be_v not_o gracious_o restrain_v by_o the_o three_o and_o lead_v to_o take_v some_o hold_n on_o that_o good_a wherewith_o it_o may_v be_v somewhat_o satiate_a in_o hope_n it_o grasp_v at_o innumerable_a thing_n neither_o useful_a to_o soul_n or_o body_n show_v only_o it_o be_v not_o terrestrial_a and_o yet_o withal_o that_o it_o be_v capable_a to_o lose_v in_o future_a its_o title_n and_o signature_n of_o celestial_a sect_n vii_o what_o light_a the_o imagination_n receive_v from_o reason_n and_o the_o weakness_n of_o reason_n the_o second_o way_n by_o which_o light_n be_v communicate_v to_o the_o imagination_n and_o from_o thence_o reflect_v on_o the_o affection_n be_v as_o i_o have_v say_v reason_n which_o be_v the_o proper_a light_n and_o guide_v of_o a_o humane_a soul_n and_o by_o which_o it_o do_v discover_v the_o vanity_n of_o this_o world_n but_o it_o be_v not_o the_o least_o wonder_n in_o nature_n that_o after_o this_o light_n begin_v with_o any_o brightness_n to_o shine_v forth_o in_o man_n never_o so_o little_o withdraw_v from_o the_o noise_n and_o business_n of_o the_o world_n and_o in_o conjunction_n with_o sense_n for_o its_o every_o rational_a man_n how_o else_o be_v it_o possible_a almost_o that_o such_o a_o one_o discern_v his_o folly_n and_o madness_n by_o a_o far_o clear_a and_o more_o excellent_a light_n than_o that_o which_o cause_v they_o shall_v again_o often_o return_v in_o despite_n of_o it_o to_o act_v over_o his_o folly_n and_o madness_n which_o he_o himself_o have_v condemn_v and_o his_o affection_n reject_v if_o there_o be_v not_o the_o very_a light_n of_o reason_n will_v prove_v sufficient_a so_o far_o to_o extinguish_v and_o dazzle_v any_o weak_a light_n that_o the_o affection_n may_v be_v its_o power_n diminish_v for_o want_n of_o our_o obedience_n and_o we_o be_v leave_v only_o to_o our_o own_o imagination_n our_o affection_n become_v in_o a_o miserable_a and_o distract_a condition_n they_o shall_v by_o that_o have_v strange_a imposition_n lay_v on_o they_o they_o shall_v be_v lead_v a_o thousand_o way_n jade_v and_o tire_v but_o never_o satisfy_v if_o the_o affection_n set_v up_o reason_n for_o king_n and_o trust_v to_o that_o alone_a they_o be_v not_o in_o a_o much_o better_a state_n for_o though_o it_o be_v general_o a_o safe_a yet_o it_o be_v a_o weak_a guide_n and_o not_o to_o be_v rely_v on_o alone_o for_o it_o be_v only_o some_o clear_a sight_n than_o ordinary_a of_o a_o intellectual_a faculty_n of_o thing_n here_o below_o though_o it_o somewhat_o quiet_a the_o affection_n for_o a_o time_n it_o can_v never_o absolute_o reclaim_v they_o or_o reduce_v they_o to_o fasten_v on_o any_o thing_n beyond_o its_o own_o prospect_n or_o out_o of_o its_o own_o reach_n though_o the_o intellect_n do_v become_v at_o any_o time_n enable_v any_o way_n to_o reach_v to_o the_o affection_n thing_n in_o such_o excellent_a order_n and_o manner_n as_o that_o they_o may_v be_v with_o some_o pleasure_n embrace_v for_o the_o present_a without_o any_o cause_n of_o disgust_n and_o so_o account_v as_o good_a yet_o all_o those_o thing_n within_o its_o reach_n be_v of_o a_o transitory_a and_o fade_a nature_n the_o best_a of_o the_o affection_n or_o the_o possessory_a affection_n as_o i_o may_v call_v they_o as_o love_n and_o joy_n can_v never_o be_v so_o replete_a therewith_o as_o that_o there_o will_v not_o be_v room_n for_o distrust_n and_o fear_v of_o a_o privation_n of_o those_o very_a thing_n they_o enjoy_v i_o have_v only_o this_o reserve_v leave_v in_o thing_n to_o they_o as_o vanity_n and_o withal_o that_o from_o reason_n she_o be_v not_o able_a to_o show_v they_o any_o thing_n beyond_o that_o inscription_n she_o do_v as_o it_o be_v prepare_v the_o from_o the_o body_n to_o the_o imagination_n deception_n of_o its_o fellow_n faculty_n in_o the_o soul_n the_o other_o from_o those_o fellow_n faculty_n as_o violent_a affection_n to_o the_o
