end_n we_o may_v learn_v that_o god_n be_v no_o otherwise_o manifest_v unto_o we_o but_o in_o christ_n for_o so_o infinite_a be_v that_o brightness_n which_o be_v in_o the_o essence_n of_o god_n that_o our_o eye_n be_v dazzle_v therewith_o till_o such_o time_n as_o he_o shine_v unto_o we_o in_o christ_n whereof_o it_o follow_v that_o unless_o god_n show_v we_o his_o brightness_n in_o christ_n we_o shall_v be_v utter_o blind_v with_o the_o behold_n of_o that_o light_n and_o this_o indeed_o be_v a_o very_a profitable_a philosophy_n namely_o to_o learn_v the_o excellency_n of_o christ_n by_o and_o the_o greek_a word_n which_o be_v translate_v image_n signify_v a_o lively_a form_n of_o that_o substance_n which_o be_v hide_v and_o invisible_a by_o the_o first_o word_n than_o we_o learn_v that_o out_o of_o christ_n we_o can_v find_v no_o light_n but_o rather_o mere_a darkness_n for_o although_o god_n be_v the_o only_a light_n wherewith_o we_o must_v be_v enlighten_v yet_o there_o be_v no_o other_o mean_n whereby_o he_o shed_v the_o same_o into_o we_o but_o by_o this_o splendancie_n of_o his_o son_n if_o i_o may_v so_o speak_v by_o the_o second_o word_n we_o be_v admonish_v that_o god_n be_v true_o and_o full_o know_v in_o christ_n for_o he_o be_v no_o dark_a or_o shadowish_a image_n of_o he_o but_o the_o lively_a ingrave_v form_n resemble_v he_o natural_o as_o the_o money_n who_o be_v say_v to_o have_v rest_v deny_v his_o rest_n long_a time_n after_o to_o the_o unbeliever_n which_o he_o shall_v have_v do_v in_o vain_a and_o without_o cause_n if_o thereby_o he_o have_v consist_v yet_o in_o hope_n yet_o the_o doctrine_n whereupon_o it_o be_v ground_v bring_v we_o direct_o to_o heaven_n neither_o do_v christ_n reach_v we_o his_o hand_n to_o lead_v we_o about_o by_o many_o circuit_n and_o shadow_n but_o with_o the_o same_o do_v lift_v we_o up_o thither_o by_o turn_v our_o sense_n from_o this_o world_n now_o in_o that_o the_o apostle_n separate_v the_o shadow_n from_o the_o truth_n and_o substance_n it_o be_v because_o he_o have_v to_o deal_v with_o the_o jew_n who_o rest_v too_o much_o upon_o external_a thing_n last_o verse_n 9_o he_o conclude_v that_o well_o and_o holy_o we_o must_v always_o begin_v at_o this_o that_o man_n be_v dead_a in_o himself_o do_v suffer_v god_n to_o live_v in_o he_o that_o he_o cease_v from_o his_o own_o work_n to_o give_v god_n place_n to_o work_v in_o he_o for_o it_o must_v needs_o be_v confess_v that_o the_o life_n be_v then_o well_o order_v when_o it_o be_v subject_a to_o god_n now_o such_o be_v the_o corruption_n of_o our_o nature_n that_o this_o will_v never_o be_v bring_v to_o pass_v until_o we_o cease_v from_o our_o own_o work_n there_o be_v i_o say_v such_o a_o repugnancy_n between_o the_o government_n of_o god_n and_o our_o affection_n that_o he_o can_v work_v in_o we_o unless_o we_o rest_v but_o for_o as_o much_o as_o the_o accomplishment_n of_o this_o rest_n be_v never_o in_o this_o life_n we_o must_v daily_o strive_v to_o come_v unto_o it_o the_o faithful_a then_o do_v enter_v into_o it_o but_o it_o be_v upon_o condition_n that_o they_o profit_v daily_o in_o press_v to_o the_o mark_n moreover_o i_o doubt_v not_o but_o the_o apostle_n of_o set_a purpose_n allude_v to_o the_o sabbath_n day_n to_o the_o end_n he_o may_v withdraw_v the_o jew_n from_o the_o external_a observation_n deliver_v from_o his_o trouble_n and_o this_o he_o say_v to_o the_o end_n none_o shall_v think_v that_o christ_n have_v a_o heart_n of_o brass_n without_o feeling_n for_o we_o must_v always_o consider_v to_o what_o end_n every_o thing_n be_v speak_v if_o christ_n have_v not_o be_v touch_v with_o any_o sorrow_n what_o consolation_n will_v have_v come_v unto_o we_o by_o his_o passion_n but_o when_o we_o hear_v that_o he_o feel_v not_o bodily_a pain_n alone_o but_o also_o endure_v sharp_a torment_n in_o his_o spirit_n herein_o be_v the_o similitude_n show_v between_o he_o and_o us._n for_o when_o christ_n say_v he_o endure_v death_n and_o other_o misery_n it_o be_v not_o to_o the_o end_n he_o shall_v set_v they_o light_n or_o not_o be_v touch_v with_o any_o feel_n of_o they_o for_o he_o pray_v with_o cry_n and_o tear_n by_o which_o he_o give_v testimony_n of_o the_o great_a anguish_n that_o be_v in_o his_o heart_n the_o apostle_n then_o by_o these_o tear_n and_o strong_a cry_n will_v admonish_v not_o to_o sue_v unto_o any_o for_o deliverance_n out_o of_o our_o misery_n but_o to_o god_n alone_o for_o what_o better_a rule_n of_o prayer_n can_v we_o have_v than_o the_o example_n of_o christ_n now_o he_o direct_v his_o prayer_n to_o none_o but_o to_o his_o father_n o_o my_o father_n say_v he_o if_o it_o be_v possible_a etc._n etc._n matth._n 26.39_o and_o the_o apostle_n show_v spirit_n and_o be_v hear_v in_o that_o which_o he_o fear_v some_o have_v translate_v for_o his_o reverence_n but_o i_o do_v not_o at_o any_o hand_n approve_v of_o it_o for_o first_o the_o adiective_n he_o be_v not_o add_v in_o the_o greek_a moreover_o the_o word_n which_o follow_v signify_v of_o or_o some_o word_n like_a unto_o it_o see_v then_o that_o the_o greek_a noun_n which_o be_v put_v
