be_v before_o the_o fall_n for_o the_o performance_n of_o work_n be_v that_o wherein_o righteousness_n before_o the_o fall_n be_v to_o consist_v formal_o if_o faith_n succeed_v work_n in_o such_o a_o sense_n as_o be_v instead_o of_o work_n as_o some_o affirm_v then_o the_o performance_n of_o faith_n do_v make_v formal_o righteous_a if_o so_o then_o we_o may_v plead_v our_o faith_n at_o god_n tribunal_n in_o the_o great_a day_n as_o adam_n if_o he_o have_v not_o fall_v may_v have_v plead_v his_o performance_n of_o work_n but_o this_o can_v be_v for_o 1._o when_o we_o appear_v before_o god_n judgement_n seat_n we_o must_v plead_v such_o a_o righteousness_n as_o will_v countervail_v and_o answer_v god_n justice_n we_o can_v be_v justify_v but_o by_o a_o righteousness_n that_o will_v answer_v justice_n for_o god_n be_v just_a in_o justify_v rom._n 3._o 26._o therefore_o such_o a_o righteousness_n must_v be_v find_v out_o either_o inherent_a in_o we_o or_o impute_v to_o we_o as_o be_v every_o way_n perfect_a that_o so_o god_n in_o justify_v of_o we_o for_o such_o a_o righteousness_n may_v appear_v to_o be_v a_o just_a justifier_n now_o the_o righteousness_n of_o christ_n impute_v to_o we_o be_v such_o a_o perfect_a righteousness_n as_o will_v full_o answer_v the_o justice_n of_o god_n but_o for_o our_o faith_n it_o be_v so_o far_o from_o be_v a_o perfect_a righteousness_n that_o it_o be_v not_o a_o perfect_a faith_n that_o be_v perfect_a to_o which_o nothing_o can_v be_v add_v but_o our_o best_a faith_n stand_v in_o need_n of_o addition_n and_o increase_n the_o apostle_n pray_v lord_n increase_v our_o faith_n our_o faith_n therefore_o be_v not_o perfect_a much_o less_o a_o perfect_a righteousness_n to_o say_v it_o will_v find_v acceptation_n in_o mercy_n though_o not_o approbation_n in_o justice_n and_o so_o pass_v for_o righteousness_n upon_o that_o account_n be_v to_o make_v god_n mercy_n shut_v out_o his_o justice_n whereas_o god_n great_a design_n be_v to_o manifest_v both_o those_o attribute_n in_o the_o justification_n of_o man_n not_o only_o though_o chief_o his_o mercy_n but_o likewise_o his_o justice_n this_o appear_v by_o that_o fore_o allege_a place_n rom._n 3._o 24._o be_v justify_v free_o by_o his_o grace_n through_o the_o redemption_n that_o be_v in_o jesus_n christ_n who_o god_n have_v set_v forth_o or_o appoint_v etc._n etc._n that_o god_n will_v admit_v of_o any_o redemption_n for_o we_o and_o that_o he_o will_v likewise_o provide_v and_o appoint_v a_o redeemer_n herein_o be_v grace_n and_o mercy_n manifest_v but_o yet_o you_o shall_v see_v he_o have_v a_o eye_n likewise_o to_o the_o manifestation_n of_o his_o justice_n for_o it_o follow_v in_o the_o next_o word_n who_o he_o set_v forth_o to_o be_v a_o difference_n betwixt_o god_n judge_v according_a to_o justice_n and_o according_a to_o mercy_n but_o god_n judge_v according_a to_o mercy_n be_v not_o judge_v a_o person_n perfect_o righteous_a for_o a_o righteousness_n which_o be_v imperfect_a but_o for_o a_o perfect_a righteousness_n which_o be_v not_o his_o own_o in_o this_o judgement_n there_o be_v both_o truth_n and_o mercy_n truth_n in_o that_o god_n esteem_v we_o perfect_o righteous_a for_o that_o righteousness_n which_o be_v every_o way_n perfect_a even_o the_o righteousness_n of_o christ_n mercy_n in_o that_o he_o esteem_v we_o
