grant_v which_o ought_v to_o be_v discourse_v but_o bring_v forth_o the_o text_n and_o see_v what_o argument_n it_o will_v afford_v the_o apostle_n as_o the_o chapter_n show_v speak_v with_o tongue_n to_o the_o amazement_n of_o all_o the_o stranger_n that_o hear_v they_o but_o the_o unbelieve_a jew_n mock_v and_o say_v they_o be_v drink_v upon_o which_o peter_n light_o pass_v by_o that_o absurd_a reproach_n tell_v they_o that_o this_o be_v that_o which_o be_v speak_v by_o the_o prophet_n joel_n and_o it_o shall_v come_v to_o pass_v in_o the_o last_o day_n say_v god_n i_o will_v pour_v out_o of_o my_o spirit_n upon_o all_o flesh_n and_o your_o son_n and_o your_o daughter_n shall_v prophesy_v and_o your_o young_a man_n shall_v see_v vision_n and_o your_o old_a man_n etc._n etc._n and_o yet_o it_o be_v here_o put_v for_o supernatural_a gift_n in_o general_n and_o particular_o for_o speak_v divine_a thing_n by_o inspiration_n and_o likewise_o for_o speak_v with_o new_a tongue_n which_o be_v undeniable_o evident_a from_o hence_o that_o the_o apostle_n speak_v of_o the_o wonderful_a thing_n of_o god_n in_o tongue_n they_o have_v never_o learn_v be_v by_o st._n peter_n affirm_v to_o be_v foretell_v in_o this_o prediction_n of_o joel_n so_o that_o the_o cardinal_n ought_v to_o have_v be_v very_o much_o afraid_a to_o make_v what_o be_v promise_v in_o joel_n a_o note_n of_o the_o church_n for_o by_o this_o mean_v he_o have_v make_v it_o unavoidable_o necessary_a for_o those_o of_o his_o communion_n the_o young_a man_n and_o the_o old_a man_n etc._n etc._n to_o speak_v with_o tongue_n by_o inspiration_n which_o be_v in_o effect_n to_o unchurch_n his_o own_o party_n and_o therefore_o i_o imagine_v his_o follower_n will_v not_o follow_v he_o in_o this_o nor_o advance_v the_o promise_n in_o joel_n into_o a_o note_n of_o the_o church_n but_o will_v rather_o say_v that_o the_o fulfil_n of_o it_o in_o the_o first_o age_n of_o the_o church_n be_v a_o testimony_n to_o the_o truth_n of_o christianity_n and_o that_o the_o prediction_n of_o joel_n be_v accomplish_v though_o the_o same_o extraordinary_a gift_n be_v not_o continue_v in_o every_o age_n afterward_o 2._o he_o say_v that_o none_o know_v future_a contingency_n but_o god_n only_o which_o if_o it_o shall_v prove_v that_o a_o church_n be_v there_o where_o the_o gift_n of_o prophecy_n be_v yet_o it_o do_v not_o prove_v that_o there_o be_v no_o church_n where_o that_o gift_n be_v not_o unless_o it_o be_v a_o inseparable_a mark_n of_o the_o church_n to_o have_v all_o those_o future_a event_n make_v know_v to_o one_o or_o other_o in_o it_o which_o god_n only_o know_v our_o saviour_n say_v of_o that_o day_n and_o hour_n when_o himself_o shall_v come_v to_o judge_v the_o world_n no_o man_n know_v but_o the_o father_n only_o do_v it_o therefore_o follow_v that_o god_n must_v have_v reveal_v it_o to_o one_o or_o other_o in_o the_o church_n if_o because_o god_n only_o know_v future_a contingency_n
