law_n of_o nature_n be_v shrink_v up_o and_o draw_v into_o so_o narrow_a a_o compass_n as_o what_o the_o principle_n leave_v in_o corrupt_a man_n only_o suggest_v and_o dictate_v than_o it_o will_v necessary_o follow_v that_o many_o of_o those_o holy_a rule_n and_o principle_n be_v not_o the_o law_n of_o nature_n which_o be_v the_o most_o perfect_a impression_n of_o the_o law_n of_o nature_n in_o man_n first_o creation_n and_o perfection_n but_o now_o by_o man_n apostasy_n be_v obliterated_a and_o blot_v out_o unless_o any_o shall_v think_v worse_o than_o the_o blind_a papist_n either_o do_v cease_v the_o time_n of_o holy_a rest_n or_o holy_a time_n must_v then_o cease_v also_o thesis_n 57_o nor_o shall_v it_o seem_v strange_a that_o holy_a duty_n shall_v attend_v holy_a time_n and_o be_v for_o the_o sake_n of_o such_o time_n because_o although_o it_o be_v true_a that_o this_o time_n be_v sanctify_v that_o man_n may_v perform_v holy_a duty_n yet_o man_n be_v now_o call_v to_o the_o performance_n of_o all_o holy_a duty_n that_o he_o may_v last_o honour_n god_n in_o all_o holiness_n in_o such_o a_o special_a time_n which_o time_n if_o any_o humane_a power_n only_o shall_v day_n sabbath_n yet_o it_o demonstrate_v at_o least_o thus_o much_o that_o some_o let_v time_n and_o day_n shadow_v out_o under_o the_o name_n of_o new_a moon_n and_o sabbath_n be_v to_o be_v necessary_a to_o be_v attend_v by_o gospel-worshipper_n as_o some_o secret_o imagine_v than_o farewell_n all_o external_a preach_v sacrament_n profession_n and_o confession_n of_o the_o name_n of_o christ_n as_o well_o as_o sabbath_n and_o let_v such_o artist_n of_o licentiousness_n bring_v in_o all_o profaneness_n into_o the_o world_n again_o by_o a_o law_n from_o heaven_n not_o condemn_v the_o act_n of_o the_o outward_a man_n though_o never_o so_o abominable_a in_o abstinence_n from_o which_o by_o this_o rule_n the_o kingdom_n of_o heaven_n do_v not_o consist_v be_v it_o no_o honour_n to_o the_o king_n of_o glory_n as_o it_o be_v to_o earthly_a prince_n to_o be_v serve_v sometime_o upon_o special_a festival_n in_o special_a state_n with_o special_a and_o glorious_a attendance_n by_o his_o people_n as_o well_o as_o after_o a_o common_a and_o usual_a manner_n every_o day_n we_o have_v see_v some_o who_o have_v at_o first_o hold_v community_n of_o day_n only_o to_o fall_v at_o last_o through_o the_o righteous_a judgement_n of_o god_n blind_a their_o heart_n to_o maintain_v community_n of_o wife_n and_o that_o because_o the_o kingdom_n of_o god_n have_v as_o they_o have_v think_v consist_v no_o more_o in_o outward_a relation_n as_o that_o be_v between_o husband_n and_o wife_n than_o in_o the_o observation_n of_o external_a circumstance_n and_o day_n thesis_n 79._o but_o this_o be_v not_o the_o ordinary_a principle_n by_o which_o many_o be_v lead_v to_o maintain_v a_o equality_n of_o day_n under_o the_o gospel_n but_o this_o chief_o viz._n that_o the_o moral_a law_n be_v not_o to_o be_v a_o christian_n rule_n of_o life_n for_o we_o acknowledge_v it_o to_o be_v no_o covenant_n of_o life_n to_o a_o believer_n that_o either_o by_o the_o keep_n of_o it_o he_o shall_v be_v justify_v or_o that_o for_o the_o breach_n of_o it_o he_o shall_v be_v condemn_v but_o they_o say_v that_o when_o a_o believer_n have_v life_n by_o the_o covenant_n of_o grace_n the_o this_o dash_v against_o the_o whole_a law_n be_v the_o very_a mystery_n of_o this_o iniquity_n why_o some_o do_v cashier_v this_o law_n of_o the_o sabbath_n and_o they_o do_v but_o hide_v themselves_o behind_o a_o thread_n when_o they_o oppose_v it_o by_o their_o weapon_n who_o therefore_o abandon_v it_o because_o it_o alone_o be_v ceremonial_a above_o any_o other_o law_n thesis_n 80._o the_o i_o answer_v that_o let_v the_o difference_n be_v grant_v yet_o that_o which_o i_o now_o dispute_v on_o be_v this_o ground_n and_o supposition_n only_o viz._n that_o if_o all_o set_a day_n be_v to_o be_v abandon_v because_o a_o christian_n sabbath_n ought_v to_o be_v continual_a and_o inward_a than_o all_o occasional_a set_a time_n also_o be_v to_o be_v abandon_v upon_o the_o same_o ground_n because_o these_o can_v be_v continual_a and_o inward_a no_o more_o than_o the_o other_o as_o for_o they_o who_o think_v no_o holy_a day_n necessary_a but_o holy_a duty_n lawful_a every_o day_n we_o have_v already_o and_o shall_v hereafter_o clear_v up_o more_o full_o in_o its_o proper_a place_n mean_v while_o it_o be_v yet_o doubtful_a to_o i_o whether_o those_o who_o follow_v master_n work_n to_o be_v a_o type_n not_o only_o of_o the_o lord_n jesus_n in_o his_o active_a and_o fulfil_a administration_n while_o he_o be_v in_o the_o flesh_n but_o also_o to_o be_v a_o figure_n of_o the_o christian_a in_o bondage_n or_o to_o use_v his_o own_o word_n of_o a_o christian_a under_o active_a and_o work_a administration_n as_o those_o of_o the_o law_n and_o gospel_n be_v as_o all_o form_n of_o worship_n duty_n grace_n prayer_n ordinance_n etc._n etc._n from_o whence_o it_o will_v follow_v from_o his_o principle_n for_o i_o know_v not_o his_o practice_n that_o all_o form_n of_o worship_n duty_n grace_n prayer_n ordinance_n be_v then_o to_o cease_v as_o type_n
time_n to_o be_v sanctify_v rather_o than_o a_o five_o a_o four_o or_o a_o nine_o not_o simple_o because_o it_o be_v this_o seven_o or_o a_o seven_o but_o because_o in_o his_o wise_a determination_n thereof_o he_o know_v it_o to_o be_v the_o most_o just_a and_o equal_a division_n of_o time_n between_o man_n and_o himself_o and_o therefore_o i_o know_v no_o incongruity_n to_o affirm_v that_o if_o not_o a_o act_n of_o god_n mere_a will_n only_o as_o our_o adversary_n affirm_v and_o therefore_o they_o think_v it_o not_o moral_a but_o it_o be_v and_o be_v a_o act_n of_o his_o wisdom_n also_o according_a to_o a_o moral_a rule_n of_o justice_n viz._n to_o give_v unto_o god_n that_o which_o be_v most_o fit_a most_o just_a and_o most_o equal_a and_o therefore_o although_o there_o be_v no_o natural_a justice_n as_o mr_n primrose_n call_v it_o in_o a_o seven_o simple_o and_o abstract_o consider_v rather_o than_o in_o a_o six_o or_o ten_o yet_o if_o the_o most_o equal_a proportion_n of_o time_n for_o god_n be_v lot_v out_o in_o a_o seven_o there_o be_v then_o something_o natural_a and_o moral_a in_o it_o rather_o than_o in_o any_o other_o partition_n of_o time_n viz._n to_o give_v god_n that_o proportion_n of_o time_n which_o be_v most_o just_a and_o most_o equal_a and_o in_o this_o respect_n a_o seven_o part_n of_o time_n be_v command_v because_o it_o be_v good_a according_a to_o the_o description_n of_o a_o moral_a law_n and_o not_o only_o good_a because_o it_o be_v command_v thesis_n 131._o it_o be_v true_a that_o in_o private_a duty_n of_o worship_n as_o to_o read_v the_o scripture_n meditate_v pray_v etc._n etc._n the_o time_n for_o these_o and_o the_o like_a duty_n be_v leave_v to_o the_o will_n and_o determination_n of_o man_n according_a to_o general_a rule_n of_o conveniency_n and_o seasonableness_n set_v down_o in_o the_o word_n man_n will_n in_o this_o sense_n be_v the_o measure_n of_o such_o time_n of_o worship_n but_o there_o be_v not_o the_o like_a reason_n here_o in_o determine_v time_n for_o a_o sabbath_n as_o if_o that_o shall_v be_v leave_v to_o man_n liberty_n also_o because_o those_o private_a duty_n be_v to_o be_v do_v in_o that_o time_n which_o be_v necessary_o annex_v to_o the_o duty_n themselves_o which_o time_n be_v therefore_o there_o command_v where_o and_o when_o the_o duty_n be_v command_v but_o the_o time_n for_o a_o five_o or_o four_o or_o ten_o day_n etc._n etc._n as_o to_o alter_v and_o pick_v our_o time_n for_o private_a duty_n thesis_n 132._o there_o be_v a_o double_a reason_n of_o propose_v god_n example_n in_o the_o four_o command_n as_o be_v evident_a from_o the_o commandment_n itself_o the_o first_o be_v to_o persuade_v the_o second_o be_v to_o direct_v 1._o to_o persuade_v man_n so_o to_o labour_v six_o day_n together_o as_o to_o give_v the_o seven_o or_o a_o seven_o appoint_v for_o holy_a rest_n unto_o god_n for_o so_o the_o example_n speak_v god_n labour_v six_o day_n and_o rest_v the_o seven_o therefore_o do_v you_o do_v the_o like_a 2._o to_o direct_v the_o people_n of_o god_n to_o that_o particular_a seven_o which_o for_o that_o time_n when_o the_o law_n be_v give_v god_n will_v have_v they_o then_o to_o observe_v and_o that_o be_v that_o seven_o which_o do_v succeed_v the_o six_o day_n labour_n and_o therefore_o for_o any_o to_o make_v god_n example_n of_o rest_n on_o that_o seven_o day_n a_o argument_n that_o god_n command_v the_o observation_n of_o that_o seven_o day_n only_o be_v a_o groundless_a assertion_n for_o there_o be_v something_o more_o general_o aim_v at_o by_o set_v forth_o this_o example_n viz._n to_o persuade_v man_n hereby_o to_o labour_v six_o day_n and_o give_v god_n the_o seven_o which_o he_o shall_v appoint_v as_o well_o as_o to_o direct_v to_o that_o particular_a day_n which_o for_o that_o time_n it_o be_v grant_v it_o also_o point_a unto_o and_o therefore_o let_v the_o word_n in_o the_o commandment_n be_v observe_v and_o we_o shall_v find_v man_n duty_n 1._o more_o general_o set_v down_o viz._n to_o labour_v six_o day_n and_o dedicate_v the_o seven_o unto_o god_n and_o then_o follow_v god_n persuasion_n hereunto_o from_o his_o own_o example_n who_o when_o he_o have_v a_o world_n to_o make_v and_o work_v to_o do_v he_o do_v labour_v six_o day_n together_o and_o rest_v the_o seven_o and_o thus_o a_o man_n be_v bind_v to_o do_v still_o but_o it_o do_v not_o follow_v that_o he_o must_v rest_v that_o particular_a seven_o only_a on_o which_o god_n then_o rest_v or_o that_o that_o seven_o though_o we_o grant_v it_o be_v to_o labour_v six_o day_n in_o memorial_n only_a of_o the_o six_o day_n of_o creation_n and_o to_o rest_v a_o seven_o day_n in_o memorial_n only_a of_o god_n rest_n and_o cessation_n from_o creation_n it_o may_v then_o carry_v a_o fair_a face_n as_o if_o this_o example_n point_v at_o the_o observation_n of_o that_o particular_a seven_o only_a but_o look_v as_o our_o six_o day_n labour_n be_v appoint_v for_o other_o and_o high_a end_n then_o to_o remember_v the_o six_o day_n work_n of_o god_n it_o be_v a_o moral_a duty_n to_o attend_v our_o calling_n therein_o so_o the_o seven_o day_n of_o rest_n be_v appoint_v for_o high_a and_o large_a end_n as_o didoclavius_n observe_v then_o only_o to_o remember_v that_o notable_a rest_n of_o god_n from_o all_o his_o work_n it_o be_v a_o moral_a duty_n to_o rest_v the_o seven_o day_n in_o all_o holiness_n thesis_n 133._o it_o be_v but_o accidental_a and_o not_o of_o the_o essence_n of_o the_o sabbath_n day_n that_o that_o particular_a seven_o from_o the_o creation_n shall_v be_v the_o sabbath_n for_o the_o seven_o day_n sabbath_n be_v to_o be_v man_n rest_n day_n it_o be_v therefore_o suitable_a to_o god_n wisdom_n to_o give_v man_n a_o example_n of_o rest_n from_o himself_o to_o encourage_v he_o thereunto_o for_o we_o know_v how_o strong_o example_n persuade_v now_o rest_v bâ—ing_v a_o cessation_n from_o labour_n it_o therefore_o suppose_v labour_n to_o go_v before_o hence_o god_n can_v not_o appoint_v the_o first_o day_n of_o the_o creation_n to_o be_v the_o sabbath_n because_o he_o do_v then_o but_o begin_v his_o labour_n last_o of_o seven_o succeed_v six_o of_o labour_n before_o so_o that_o if_o there_o can_v have_v be_v any_o other_o day_n as_o fit_v then_o for_o exemplary_a

sabbath_n yet_o the_o want_n of_o such_o light_n argue_v only_o the_o want_n of_o perfection_n of_o the_o light_n of_o nature_n which_o we_o shall_v not_o expect_v to_o find_v in_o the_o present_a light_n of_o nature_n in_o matter_n of_o the_o first_o table_n and_o in_o this_o of_o the_o sabbath_n and_o therefore_o it_o be_v no_o argument_n to_o prove_v the_o sabbath_n not_o to_o be_v of_o the_o law_n of_o nature_n because_o the_o perfect_a knowl_v of_o the_o exact_a time_n thereof_o be_v not_o leave_v in_o corrupt_a nature_n now_o thesis_n 192._o suppose_v the_o gentile_n do_v the_o sabbath_n among_o the_o gentile_n be_v no_o sin_n because_o it_o be_v not_o any_o where_o particular_o reprove_v by_o the_o prophet_n of_o god_n for_o we_o see_v by_o what_o have_v be_v say_v
