set_v will_v undoubted_o have_v great_a influence_n on_o all_o serious_a and_o sober_a person_n yet_o such_o as_o be_v convince_v that_o their_o decision_n be_v contrary_a to_o the_o scripture_n must_v still_o believe_v god_n rather_o than_o man_n but_o in_o that_o case_n the_o magistrate_n may_v secure_v the_o peace_n of_o the_o society_n by_o oblige_v they_o either_o to_o rest_v quiet_a with_o their_o opinion_n or_o to_o go_v out_o of_o his_o dominion_n the_o church_n may_v also_o by_o excommunicate_v they_o preserve_v other_o from_o be_v infect_v by_o their_o misperswasion_n and_o thus_o except_o you_o give_v i_o better_a proof_n i_o be_o not_o convince_v there_o be_v a_o necessity_n of_o any_o infallible_a judge_n for_o decide_v controversy_n and_o neither_o for_o the_o salvation_n of_o soul_n nor_o for_o the_o peace_n of_o the_o society_n of_o christian_n not_o for_o the_o first_o since_o no_o proposition_n be_v clear_a than_o this_o that_o every_o christian_a who_o study_v to_o be_v well_o inform_v in_o divine_a matter_n and_o sincere_o follow_v his_o conscience_n shall_v certain_o be_v save_v nor_o be_v this_o infallible_a judge_n necessary_a for_o the_o society_n since_o those_o who_o have_v the_o legislative_a power_n whether_o civil_a or_o ecclesiastic_a may_v govern_v a_o society_n well_o though_o they_o be_v not_o infallible_a so_o that_o the_o of_o a_o strong_a mind_n will_v easy_o credit_v a_o extraordinary_a thing_n especial_o that_o which_o subject_n to_o it_o the_o very_a freedom_n of_o his_o thought_n must_v have_v a_o evidence_n and_o authority_n proportion_v to_o the_o greatness_n and_o importance_n of_o that_o they_o recommend_v to_o our_o faith_n and_o therefore_o when_o god_n send_v moses_n to_o deliver_v his_o people_n and_o be_v their_o guide_n he_o give_v he_o a_o power_n of_o work_v such_o mighty_a work_n which_o be_v do_v in_o the_o sight_n of_o both_o egyptian_n and_o israelite_n may_v convince_v both_o one_o and_o tother_o that_o there_o be_v a_o extraordinary_a authority_n communicate_v to_o he_o he_o also_o tell_v the_o israelite_n to_o demand_v a_o sign_n or_o wonder_n from_o every_o pretender_n to_o prophesy_v or_o divine_a mission_n and_o because_o the_o power_n of_o evil_a spirit_n be_v undoubted_o far_o beyond_o we_o so_o that_o many_o extraordinary_a thing_n may_v be_v perform_v by_o magic_n and_o evil_a art_n therefore_o moses_n deut._n xiii_o allow_v even_o the_o people_n of_o israel_n a_o previous_a judgement_n of_o the_o doctrine_n of_o any_o pretender_n to_o prophesy_v before_o they_o acknowledge_v his_o authority_n or_o be_v wrought_v on_o by_o his_o sign_n or_o wonder_n we_o find_v also_o the_o prophet_n either_o by_o miracle_n or_o prediction_n prove_v their_o divine_a authority_n and_o though_o the_o history_n of_o all_o the_o prophet_n be_v not_o so_o full_a as_o to_o give_v we_o a_o account_n of_o the_o sign_n or_o wonder_n of_o each_o of_o they_o yet_o we_o have_v no_o reason_n to_o doubt_v but_o they_o do_v follow_v the_o rule_n prescribe_v by_o moses_n which_o indeed_o natural_a religion_n teach_v all_o man_n therefore_o when_o our_o saviour_n appear_v as_o he_o prove_v himself_o the_o messiah_n by_o the_o completion_n of_o the_o prophecy_n in_o his_o person_n he_o make_v it_o also_o appear_v by_o the_o purity_n of_o his_o doctrine_n and_o the_o authority_n of_o his_o miracle_n wrought_v in_o the_o sight_n of_o his_o enemy_n as_o well_o as_o follower_n the_o same_o method_n be_v observe_v by_o the_o apostle_n as_o appear_v from_o their_o act_n and_o epistle_n and_o it_o be_v certain_a that_o as_o no_o man_n can_v be_v witness_n in_o his_o own_o cause_n so_o no_o man_n or_o company_n of_o man_n pretence_n to_o a_o infallible_a jurisdiction_n must_v engage_v i_o to_o believe_v it_o otherwise_o there_o be_v no_o end_n of_o impostor_n therefore_o i_o must_v conclude_v that_o except_o you_o can_v show_v i_o a_o succession_n of_o man_n who_o by_o some_o clear_a demonstration_n of_o a_o unerring_a spirit_n and_o divine_a authority_n prove_v themselves_o infallible_o direct_v and_o uncontrollable_o assist_v by_o god_n i_o
