consequence_n whereof_o if_o the_o affirmative_a part_n of_o it_o be_v prove_v will_v be_v first_o that_o they_o who_o either_o by_o their_o example_n or_o persuasion_n bereave_v christian_n of_o it_o be_v guilty_a prayer_n be_v a_o thing_n of_o such_o consequence_n in_o religion_n of_o horrible_a detestable_a sacrilege_n and_o may_v seem_v themselves_o to_o other_o to_o renounce_v thereby_o to_o of_o reason_n must_v be_v think_v to_o prefer_v before_o this_o form_n this_o form_n i_o say_v by_o such_o undeniable_a uncontrollable_a to_o common_a sense_n and_o find_v reason_n evidence_n of_o scripture_n make_v and_o prescribe_v by_o christ_n himself_o the_o son_n of_o god_n in_o who_o all_o the_o treasure_n of_o wisdom_n be_v hide_v etc._n etc._n hence_o it_o will_v follow_v that_o they_o be_v guilty_a though_o i_o hope_v not_o intend_v by_o they_o yet_o guilty_a of_o high_a blasphemy_n against_o christ_n their_o god_n and_o saviour_n three_o while_o they_o seek_v evasion_n against_o such_o evidence_n of_o scripture_n such_o evidence_n as_o no_o other_o point_n or_o doctrine_n of_o christianity_n can_v pretend_v unto_o great_a it_o must_v needs_o follow_v that_o by_o this_o their_o example_n they_o give_v a_o most_o pernicious_a example_n to_o the_o most_o pernicious_a heretic_n of_o present_a or_o future_a age_n to_o shift_v all_o scripture_n though_o never_o so_o clear_a against_o they_o and_o do_v much_o countenance_n the_o blasphemy_n of_o some_o papist_n in_o call_v they_o a_o nose_n of_o wax_n etc._n etc._n as_o also_o stop_v or_o obstruct_v their_o own_o word_n and_o call_v 〈◊〉_d 〈◊〉_d 〈◊〉_d 〈◊〉_d 〈◊〉_d as_o the_o old_a say_n be_v but_o this_o i_o have_v say_v of_o my_o belief_n as_o to_o their_o intention_n i_o mean_v it_o of_o such_o as_o be_v they_o frequent_o blaspheme_v against_o the_o person_n so_o no_o wonder_n if_o they_o frequent_o and_o purposely_o blaspheme_v the_o prayer_n of_o christ_n as_o i_o have_v hear_v it_o report_v of_o some_o some_o year_n ago_o great_a pretender_n to_o the_o spirit_n of_o prayer_n they_o shall_v often_o say_v if_o christ_n be_v alive_a again_o conversant_a in_o earth_n among_o man_n intend_v i_o suppose_v he_o will_v be_v ashamed_a of_o that_o prayer_n other_o have_v be_v hear_v wretched_a miscreant_n to_o say_v they_o thank_v god_n they_o have_v forget_v it_o as_o bad_a or_o worse_o have_v be_v say_v of_o the_o scripture_n in_o general_n we_o need_v not_o wonder_v at_o it_o though_o they_o blaspheme_v not_o in_o word_n yet_o they_o may_v be_v think_v to_o do_v somewhat_o in_o deed_n of_o much_o affinity_n who_o though_o they_o allow_v child_n perchance_o and_o simple_a people_n in_o private_a and_o inferior_a subordinate_a man_n as_o lecturer_n and_o clerk_n in_o church_n to_o use_v the_o lord_n prayer_n yet_o themselves_o will_v not_o do_v it_o that_o honour_n as_o to_o use_v it_o in_o that_o simplicity_n of_o word_n as_o deliver_v and_o commend_v unto_o we_o by_o christ_n but_o either_o not_o at_o all_o or_o so_o dislocate_v which_o we_o shall_v not_o except_v against_o if_o do_v in_o imitation_n and_o not_o in_o lieu_n of_o the_o lord_n prayer_n and_o dismember_v with_o their_o own_o cenception_n that_o little_a or_o nothing_o of_o it_o do_v appear_v in_o its_o own_o shape_n and_o form_n now_o we_o be_v to_o proceed_v to_o the_o consideration_n of_o the_o text_n we_o will_v first_o consider_v of_o a_o general_a objection_n or_o evasion_n rather_o which_o i_o find_v some_o have_v use_v in_o this_o very_a point_n we_o urge_v the_o plain_a literal_a sense_n yes_o but_o all_o thing_n say_v they_o in_o scripture_n be_v not_o to_o be_v take_v literal_o we_o grant_v it_o but_o withal_o we_o say_v to_o make_v use_n of_o this_o objection_n upon_o all_o occasion_n when_o we_o find_v our_o self_n pinch_v without_o any_o ground_n at_o all_o of_o either_o word_n reason_n circumstance_n

may_v seem_v strange_a to_o they_o that_o be_v not_o acquaint_v with_o the_o hebrew_n phrase_n to_o they_o that_o be_v not_o at_o all_o and_o so_o of_o divers_a place_n upon_o this_o ground_n of_o or_o as_o we_o say_v the_o word_n may_v be_v render_v if_o you_o call_v he_o father_n when_o you_o pray_v who_o without_o respect_n of_o person_n judge_v according_a to_o every_o man_n work_n pass_v not_o but_o be_v familiar_a enough_o and_o this_o be_v as_o much_o as_o if_o he_o have_v here_o also_o quote_v scripture_n as_o if_o he_o have_v say_v remember_v and_o consider_v well_o that_o in_o your_o daily_a prayer_n prescribe_v unto_o you_o by_o christ_n himself_o as_o you_o call_v god_n your_o father_n our_o father_n which_o may_v seem_v to_o promise_v indulgence_n so_o you_o add_v which_o be_v in_o heaven_n to_o put_v you_o in_o mind_n that_o god_n be_v just_a impartial_a who_o without_o respect_n of_o person_n judge_v according_a to_o every_o man_n work_n which_o as_o i_o say_v be_v equivalent_a to_o that_o quotation_n of_o scripture_n in_o the_o former_a ver_fw-la which_o nevertheless_o if_o it_o be_v grant_v or_o suppose_v to_o have_v be_v st._n peter_n meaning_n enough_o if_o the_o word_n will_v bear_v this_o sense_n also_o without_o any_o violence_n offer_v unto_o they_o but_o this_o as_o i_o say_v at_o first_o i_o propose_v as_o not_o improbable_a and_o no_o otherwise_o not_o so_o much_o in_o answer_n to_o what_o be_v object_v which_o needs_o it_o not_o as_o to_o contribute_v somewhat_o occasion_n be_v give_v towards_o the_o right_n or_o at_o least_o must_v never_o pray_v otherwise_o but_o use_v those_o very_a word_n always_o and_o so_o no_o other_o prayer_n but_o the_o lord_n prayer_n shall_v be_v lawful_a but_o this_o we_o know_v be_v against_o the_o practice_n of_o all_o church_n from_o the_o beginning_n whence_o they_o will_v infer_v etc
