and_o herein_o god_n manifest_v great_a wisdom_n and_o goodness_n to_o his_o people_n thus_o to_o temper_v their_o joy_n even_o as_o it_o be_v with_o man_n of_o weak_a constitution_n who_o must_v have_v their_o wine_n mingle_v with_o water_n for_o fear_v of_o distemper_a their_o body_n and_o so_o must_v the_o godly_a in_o this_o life_n such_o be_v their_o weakness_n have_v their_o joy_n mingle_v with_o fear_n and_o sorrow_n lest_o they_o shall_v grow_v proud_a or_o wanton_a sometime_o their_o joy_n be_v mix_v with_o fear_n hence_o it_o be_v psalm_n 2.11_o that_o we_o be_v command_v to_o serve_v the_o lord_n with_o fear_n and_o to_o rejoice_v with_o tremble_a and_o thus_o we_o read_v of_o the_o two_o woman_n matth._n 28.8_o who_o though_o assure_v by_o angel_n that_o christ_n be_v rise_v yet_o it_o be_v say_v they_o depart_v from_o the_o sepulchre_n with_o fear_n and_o great_a joy_n and_o so_o be_v it_o with_o a_o godly_a man_n though_o by_o a_o eye_n of_o faith_n he_o curse_a death_n for_o so_o vile_a a_o sinner_n and_o so_o great_a a_o enemy_n unto_o god_n as_o he_o be_v the_o consideration_n of_o this_o so_o great_a and_o incomprehensible_a a_o love_n manifest_v towards_o he_o in_o reconcile_a god_n and_o he_o together_o in_o deliver_v he_o from_o wrath_n and_o hell_n and_o in_o obtain_v eternal_a life_n for_o he_o in_o heaven_n though_o this_o love_n of_o christ_n in_o do_v all_o this_o for_o he_o can_v but_o affect_v he_o with_o great_a joy_n yet_o the_o consideration_n of_o his_o sin_n that_o pierce_v and_o wound_v yea_o crucify_v the_o lord_n of_o now_o spiritual_a thing_n be_v thing_n both_o of_o the_o great_a reality_n and_o of_o the_o great_a excellency_n spiritual_a thing_n be_v thing_n of_o the_o great_a reality_n all_o other_o thing_n comparative_o be_v not_o they_o be_v such_o thing_n as_o have_v no_o be_v no_o subsistence_n therefore_o say_v the_o wise_a man_n why_o will_v thou_o set_v thy_o eye_n upon_o that_o which_o be_v not_o speak_v of_o the_o admire_a thing_n of_o the_o world_n we_o do_v but_o abusive_o call_v man_n that_o abound_v with_o worldly_a enjoyment_n rich_a substantial_a man_n for_o substance_n be_v not_o where_o but_o with_o god_n he_o only_o be_v the_o true_a substantial_a good_a the_o thing_n of_o this_o world_n be_v no_o more_o than_o a_o shadow_n if_o a_o man_n be_v hungry_a will_v paint_v bread_n satisfy_v he_o if_o a_o man_n be_v starve_v with_o cold_a will_v paint_v fire_n warm_v he_o no_o why_o true_o all_o the_o thing_n of_o this_o world_n will_v appear_v no_o better_o to_o a_o man_n when_o he_o come_v to_o die_v there_o be_v no_o comfort_n nor_o satisfaction_n to_o be_v fetch_v from_o they_o the_o reality_n and_o substantialness_n of_o good_a be_v only_o lay_v up_o in_o god_n and_o in_o the_o enjoyment_n of_o he_o who_o be_v the_o saint_n happiness_n both_o on_o earth_n and_o in_o heaven_n there_o be_v a_o vanity_n as_o in_o all_o the_o trouble_n of_o the_o world_n so_o also_o in_o all_o the_o comfort_n of_o the_o world_n there_o be_v a_o vanity_n in_o the_o trouble_v that_o the_o saint_n endure_v they_o be_v but_o skindeep_a a_o varnish_n of_o trouble_n so_o say_v the_o apostle_n 2_o cor._n 6.10_o as_o sorrowful_a yet_o always_o rejoice_v as_o poor_a yet_o make_v many_o rich_a as_o have_v nothing_o yet_o possess_v all_o thing_n and_o as_o it_o be_v with_o the_o trouble_n of_o the_o world_n so_o be_v it_o with_o the_o comfort_n of_o the_o world_n all_o that_o sense_n look_v at_o it_o be_v mere_o outside_n and_o appear_v all_o the_o enjoyment_n of_o the_o world_n be_v but_o a_o shadow_n a_o appearance_n of_o that_o which_o be_v good_a god_n and_o heaven_n be_v reality_n but_o whatever_o else_o be_v good_a be_v but_o appear_o so_o the_o thing_n of_o the_o world_n be_v not_o when_o they_o be_v they_o be_v not_o in_o reality_n when_o they_o be_v in_o appearance_n it_o be_v a_o very_a great_a mistake_n to_o think_v nothing_o to_o be_v real_a but_o what_o we_o can_v touch_v and_o handle_v with_o our_o hand_n or_o what_o we_o can_v see_v with_o our_o eye_n such_o as_o gold_n silver_n house_n land_n these_o be_v not_o real_o substantial_o good_a thing_n they_o make_v a_o fair_a show_n outward_o they_o have_v a_o gaudery_n and_o excellency_n as_o to_o sense_n but_o nothing_o of_o real_a excellency_n as_o to_o the_o soul_n nothing_o be_v real_a but_o what_o be_v spiritual_a though_o the_o body_n be_v more_o see_v than_o the_o soul_n yet_o the_o soul_n be_v a_o more_o real_a good_a because_o it_o be_v a_o spiritual_a good_a and_o come_v near_a to_o god_n who_o be_v a_o spirit_n and_o who_o only_o be_v so_o say_v the_o prophet_n speak_v concern_v god_n isai_n 43.11_o who_o only_o be_v and_o there_o be_v none_o beside_o thou_o god_n christ_n grace_n and_o heaven_n these_o be_v spiritual_o and_o substantial_o good_a and_o therefore_o it_o be_v say_v of_o christ_n i_o cause_v they_o that_o love_v i_o to_o inherit_v substance_n prov._n 8.21_o and_o the_o apostle_n tell_v the_o believe_a hebrew_n heb._n 10.34_o you_o take_v joyful_o the_o spoil_n of_o your_o good_n know_v that_o in_o heaven_n you_o have_v a_o better_a and_o they_o be_v spiritual_a they_o be_v therefore_o excellent_a yea_o the_o most_o excellent_a there_o be_v nothing_o that_o be_v earthy_a in_o heaven_n but_o all_o of_o a_o spiritual_a and_o refine_a nature_n and_o therefore_o the_o more_o real_a and_o the_o more_o excellent_a and_o by_o how_o much_o the_o more_o spiritual_a by_o so_o much_o the_o more_o real_a and_o the_o more_o excellent_a also_o all_o joy_n and_o delight_n place_v upon_o any_o thing_n below_o god_n be_v carnal_a and_o earthly_a that_o which_o have_v dregs_o in_o it_o and_o come_v not_o up_o to_o the_o excellency_n of_o the_o soul_n it_o may_v refresh_v the_o sense_n and_o delight_v the_o outward_a man_n but_o it_o reach_v not_o the_o soul_n and_o conscience_n it_o must_v be_v something_o that_o be_v spiritual_a for_o its_o nature_n and_o refine_v for_o its_o excellency_n that_o must_v suit_n with_o and_o be_v the_o delight_n of_o a_o soul_n that_o be_v spiritual_a and_o such_o be_v heaven_n and_o the_o joy_n and_o delight_n that_o be_v there_o superlative_o excellent_a and_o spiritual_a flow_v into_o the_o noble_a and_o most_o excellent_a part_n of_o man_n his_o soul_n and_o spirit_n from_o god_n who_o be_v a_o spirit_n three_o the_o joy_n of_o heaven_n be_v full_a joy_n the_o psalmist_n call_v they_o fullness_n of_o joy_n and_o river_n of_o pleasure_n for_o the_o abundance_n of_o they_o psal_n 116.11_o and_o the_o apostle_n speak_v of_o believer_n tell_v we_o 1_o pet._n 1.8_o that_o though_o now_o they_o see_v he_o not_o yet_o believe_v they_o rejoice_v with_o joy_n unspeakable_a and_o full_a of_o glory_n if_o now_o the_o joy_n of_o faith_n in_o the_o promise_v of_o god_n from_o some_o small_a experience_n of_o his_o love_n and_o favour_n to_o the_o soul_n be_v above_o
for_o my_o name_n sake_n rejoice_v and_o be_v exceed_o glad_a for_o great_a be_v your_o reward_n in_o heaven_n thus_o whatever_o condition_n the_o people_n of_o god_n be_v in_o yet_o still_o they_o ought_v always_o to_o joy_n and_o rejoice_v in_o god_n and_o the_o reason_n be_v this_o because_o they_o have_v the_o special_a presence_n of_o god_n with_o they_o and_o where_o that_o be_v there_o be_v frequent_a though_o secret_a discovery_n of_o god_n love_n unto_o they_o how_o often_o do_v god_n lift_v up_o the_o light_n of_o his_o countenance_n upon_o such_o whilst_o they_o be_v attend_v upon_o he_o in_o holy_a duty_n secret_o whisper_v to_o their_o soul_n that_o they_o be_v accept_v in_o the_o belove_a vouchsafe_v to_o they_o some_o discovery_n of_o the_o invisible_a and_o unseen_a but_o yet_o real_a glory_n and_o happiness_n of_o heaven_n and_o of_o their_o interest_n in_o it_o whereby_o their_o soul_n be_v even_o ravish_v with_o a_o excess_n of_o strange_a and_o unusual_a joy_n and_o delight_n beyond_o what_o they_o be_v able_a to_o express_v and_o yet_o all_o this_o be_v whilst_o as_o the_o apostle_n speak_v believer_n walk_v by_o faith_n and_o not_o by_o sight_n now_o if_o this_o little_a sight_n and_o these_o small_a enjoyment_n that_o the_o saint_n have_v of_o god_n here_o which_o in_o comparison_n of_o what_o they_o shall_v see_v and_o enjoy_v of_o god_n hereafter_o may_v be_v say_v to_o be_v no_o sight_n for_o so_o the_o apostle_n call_v it_o 1_o pet._n 1.8_o who_o as_o yet_o have_v not_o see_v if_o this_o sight_n of_o god_n which_o as_o it_o follow_v in_o the_o next_o word_n be_v only_o our_o believe_v in_o god_n if_o this_o fill_v the_o soul_n of_o a_o believer_n with_o so_o great_a joy_n and_o delight_n what_o then_o shall_v the_o beatifical_a vision_n of_o god_n in_o heaven_n do_v if_o faith_n and_o hope_n do_v so_o ravish_v the_o soul_n of_o believer_n with_o joy_n and_o delight_n even_o then_o whilst_o we_o be_v absent_a from_o the_o lord_n for_o as_o the_o apostle_n speak_v whilst_o we_o be_v at_o home_n in_o the_o body_n we_o be_v absent_a from_o the_o lord_n if_o yet_o the_o joy_n of_o faith_n and_o hope_n be_v so_o great_a o_o what_o then_o shall_v the_o joy_n of_o vision_n be_v when_o believer_n shall_v not_o only_o be_v absent_a from_o the_o body_n and_o present_a with_o the_o lord_n but_o shall_v be_v ever_o present_a with_o the_o lord_n both_o in_o soul_n and_o body_n see_v he_o face_n to_o face_n and_o enjoy_v he_o as_o he_o be_v sure_o this_o joy_n must_v needs_o be_v unspeakable_o great_a and_o glorious_a indeed_o this_o sight_n of_o god_n be_v that_o which_o will_v not_o only_o amaze_v the_o eye_n with_o wonder_n but_o ravish_v the_o heart_n with_o eternal_a ecstasy_n of_o joy_n and_o delight_n four_o the_o saint_n sight_n and_o vision_n of_o god_n in_o heaven_n shall_v be_v permanent_a and_o perpetual_a in_o this_o life_n the_o people_n of_o god_n have_v not_o always_o the_o presence_n of_o god_n with_o they_o nor_o the_o manifestation_n of_o his_o love_n and_o favour_n towards_o they_o but_o be_v often_o in_o the_o dark_a for_o either_o they_o sin_v away_o god_n presence_n from_o they_o which_o be_v most_o frequent_a or_o else_o god_n for_o wise_a and_o holy_a end_n see_v good_a to_o withdraw_v himself_o from_o they_o for_o a_o time_n and_o when_o either_o of_o these_o happen_v it_o be_v a_o sad_a time_n with_o such_o soul_n especial_o if_o sin_n have_v be_v the_o cause_n of_o it_o such_o therefore_o walk_v very_o deject_o and_o the_o truth_n be_v their_o case_n be_v very_o sad_a but_o yet_o it_o be_v that_o which_o many_o of_o the_o people_n of_o god_n have_v experience_v see_v how_o the_o church_n complain_v esa_n 49.14_o but_o zion_n say_v the_o lord_n have_v forsake_v i_o my_o god_n have_v forget_v i_o so_o the_o spouse_n cant._n 5.6_o i_o open_v to_o my_o belove_a but_o my_o beloved_n have_v withdraw_v himself_o my_o soul_n fail_v when_o he_o speak_v i_o seek_v he_o but_o i_o can_v not_o find_v he_o i_o call_v he_o but_o he_o give_v i_o no_o answer_n and_o as_o it_o have_v be_v thus_o with_o the_o people_n of_o god_n former_o so_o sad_a experience_n tell_v we_o it_o be_v so_o with_o many_o of_o they_o still_o sometime_o they_o enjoy_v something_o of_o god_n his_o presence_n and_o the_o manifestation_n of_o his_o love_n towards_o they_o in_o a_o duty_n and_o o_o how_o sweet_a and_o delightful_a be_v it_o to_o their_o soul_n when_o they_o thus_o meet_v with_o god_n it_o be_v heaven_n upon_o earth_n but_o these_o thing_n do_v not_o last_v for_o when_o duty_n be_v end_v the_o people_n of_o god_n grow_v careless_a and_o remiss_a yield_v to_o temptation_n give_v way_n to_o sin_n become_v vain_a and_o worldly_a and_o so_o lose_v the_o presence_n of_o god_n by_o reason_n whereof_o they_o walk_v in_o darkness_n have_v no_o manifestation_n of_o his_o love_n and_o favour_n towards_o they_o insomuch_o that_o their_o soul_n be_v even_o ready_a to_o faint_v and_o sink_v within_o they_o under_o a_o despair_n of_o mercy_n this_o now_o be_v the_o case_n of_o many_o a_o child_n of_o god_n in_o this_o world_n sometime_o he_o have_v the_o benign_a instuence_n of_o the_o divine_a favour_n dart_v into_o his_o soul_n which_o make_v he_o great_o to_o rejoice_v but_o what_o god_n thus_o gracious_o give_v he_o do_v not_o wise_o and_o holy_o retain_v these_o joyful_a season_n abide_v not_o always_o with_o the_o people_n of_o god_n but_o they_o soon_o lose_v they_o the_o light_n of_o god_n countenance_n be_v eclipse_v and_o his_o face_n hide_v from_o they_o by_o reason_n of_o their_o foolishness_n but_o it_o be_v not_o thus_o in_o heaven_n no_o sin_n come_v there_o to_o intercept_v between_o the_o face_n of_o god_n and_o those_o holy_a soul_n for_o ever_o there_o be_v no_o complain_v of_o any_o saint_n in_o heaven_n that_o god_n have_v forsake_v he_o or_o hide_v his_o face_n from_o he_o but_o it_o shall_v ever_o be_v with_o those_o holy_a one_o as_o our_o lord_n tell_v we_o it_o be_v now_o with_o their_o angel_n matth._n 18.10_o they_o shall_v always_o behold_v the_o face_n of_o god_n in_o glory_n this_o bless_a object_n of_o the_o saint_n happiness_n in_o heaven_n shall_v never_o be_v withdraw_v from_o they_o to_o eternity_n nor_o shall_v their_o sight_n ever_o be_v weary_v with_o speak_v of_o ever_o to_o be_v with_o the_o lord_n ever_o to_o have_v he_o smile_v upon_o the_o soul_n ever_o to_o behold_v his_o face_n ever_o to_o have_v his_o presence_n with_o it_o and_o ever_o to_o be_v under_o the_o manifestation_n of_o his_o love_n and_o favour_n here_o here_o be_v heaven_n and_o happiness_n indeed_o thus_o to_o see_v and_o enjoy_v god_n for_o ever_o and_o so_o much_o for_o the_o first_o thing_n what_o kind_n of_o sight_n or_o vision_n of_o god_n the_o saint_n shall_v have_v in_o heaven_n second_o wherein_o do_v it_o appear_v that_o this_o vision_n of_o god_n
acquaint_v with_o here_o continual_o sing_v praise_n and_o hallelujah_n unto_o the_o great_a god_n and_o to_o the_o lamb_n that_o sit_v upon_o the_o throne_n and_o be_v no_o more_o weary_a thereof_o that_o day_n and_o time_n oh_o how_o earnest_o do_v he_o cry_v when_o when_o will_v the_o shadow_n flee_v away_o when_o will_v day_n and_o night_n be_v at_o a_o end_n when_o will_v time_n be_v spend_v when_o shall_v the_o curtain_n be_v draw_v that_o he_o may_v not_o only_o look_v at_o but_o eternal_o possess_v that_o bless_a place_n where_o sin_n shall_v be_v for_o ever_o exclude_v both_o out_o
