sweet_a poison_n that_o though_o it_o be_v sweet_a to_o the_o flesh_n yet_o it_o kill_v the_o soul_n do_v not_o the_o scripture_n say_v the_o soul_n that_o sin_v shall_v die_v and_o the_o wage_n of_o sin_n be_v death_n and_o as_o every_o sin_n do_v in_o some_o measure_n kill_v the_o soul_n so_o great_a sin_n such_o as_o murder_n and_o adultery_n than_o which_o we_o can_v hardly_o suppose_v any_o number_n of_o member_n it_o be_v no_o great_a difficulty_n to_o be_v a_o member_n of_o that_o church_n when_o a_o murderer_n a_o adulterer_n can_v be_v a_o member_n of_o it_o be_v this_o your_o pretence_n to_o reformation_n and_o why_o you_o estimate_v your_o church_n more_o holy_a than_o the_o church_n of_o rome_n but_o be_v not_o your_o church_n and_o doctrine_n in_o this_o respect_n much_o more_o unholy_a for_o the_o church_n of_o rome_n say_v all_o gross_a or_o great_a sin_n as_o fornication_n adultery_n murder_n and_o the_o like_a be_v real_o mortal_a sin_n in_o all_o that_o all_o which_o be_v sad_a tiding_n to_o soul_n that_o love_v god_n and_o christ_n but_o the_o best_a be_v they_o be_v utter_o false_a and_o the_o experience_n of_o the_o saint_n abundant_o prove_v they_o to_o be_v false_a and_o such_o dark_a ignorant_a blind_a doctrine_n prove_v sufficient_o what_o dark_a ignorant_a blind_a man_n these_o have_v be_v or_o be_v who_o have_v publish_v their_o own_o shame_n and_o folly_n to_o the_o face_n of_o the_o world_n and_o as_o blind_a and_o ignorant_a be_v these_o teacher_n who_o have_v since_o receive_v and_o publish_v the_o same_o blind_a doctrine_n but_o if_o the_o inward_a light_n or_o illumination_n be_v altogether_o a_o unknown_a principle_n to_o he_o that_o have_v it_o have_v no_o evidence_n or_o light_n or_o demonstration_n of_o its_o own_o whereby_o to_o discover_v it_o how_o shall_v any_o man_n be_v sure_a or_o know_v sure_o that_o he_o have_v any_o inward_a divine_a light_n or_o illumination_n for_o no_o scripture_n can_v the_o apostle_n preach_v and_o the_o end_n of_o it_o and_o according_a to_o the_o scripture_n the_o first_o be_v that_o divine_a dispensation_n proper_a to_o man_n as_o child_n in_o the_o knowledge_n of_o god_n and_o in_o virtue_n the_o second_o to_o that_o which_o be_v proper_a to_o man_n as_o in_o youth_n or_o middle_a age_n the_o three_o as_o proper_a to_o man_n of_o full_a or_o ripe_a age._n false_o charge_v that_o people_n in_o his_o say_a book_n for_o we_o say_v that_o the_o high_a degree_n of_o perfection_n attainable_a in_o this_o life_n ought_v not_o to_o be_v sit_v down_o and_o rest_v in_o by_o any_o but_o there_o ought_v to_o be_v a_o continual_a progress_n by_o the_o best_a in_o holiness_n and_o in_o conformity_n to_o the_o image_n of_o the_o son_n of_o god_n until_o the_o very_a last_o moment_n of_o their_o life_n for_o christ_n himself_o who_o be_v free_a from_o all_o sin_n yet_o be_v perfect_v further_o as_o he_o be_v man_n and_o do_v grow_v both_o in_o grace_n and_o thing_n they_o may_v a_o little_a fall_n short_a as_o a_o most_o love_a child_n not_o perfect_o understand_v the_o father_n mind_n in_o all_o thing_n may_v do_v a_o thing_n amiss_o and_o yet_o without_o breach_n of_o true_a love_n to_o his_o father_n and_o therefore_o his_o father_n do_v not_o charge_v it_o upon_o he_o as_o a_o crime_n and_o the_o like_a example_n may_v be_v of_o a_o most_o love_a wife_n to_o her_o husband_n who_o retain_v her_o chaste_a and_o perfect_a love_n to_o her_o husband_n and_o yet_o may_v do_v some_o thing_n not_o according_a to_o his_o mind_n for_o as_o the_o scripture_n say_v love_n be_v the_o fulfil_n of_o the_o law_n and_o he_o that_o fail_v not_o in_o his_o love_n and_o transgress_v not_o against_o the_o law_n of_o love_n though_o in_o some_o case_n he_o may_v fall_v short_a in_o understanding_n god_n do_v not_o impute_v it_o to_o be_v a_o crime_n unto_o he_o 4_o thly_a it_o be_v not_o temptation_n or_o motion_n unto_o sin_n that_o may_v arise_v either_o from_o the_o devil_n or_o
but_o to_o extenuate_v the_o sin_n in_o the_o believer_n and_o to_o aggravate_v it_o in_o the_o unbeliever_n contrary_a to_o the_o scripture_n testimony_n which_o do_v aggravate_v any_o sin_n that_o man_n have_v once_o believe_v fall_v into_o more_o than_o in_o unbeliever_n as_o be_v clear_a from_o 2_o pet._n 2.20_o 21._o 2._o and_o as_o for_o the_o scripture_n they_o bring_v in_o their_o say_a confession_n to_o prove_v their_o false_a doctrine_n let_v they_o be_v impartial_o examine_v and_o they_o will_v be_v find_v to_o prove_v no_o such_o thing_n some_o of_o they_o be_v express_o conditional_a as_o that_o in_o 2_o pet._n 1.10_o for_o if_o you_o do_v these_o thing_n you_o shall_v never_o fall_v here_o it_o be_v only_o promise_v conditional_o but_o not_o absolute_o that_o they_o shall_v not_o fall_v to_o wit_n if_o they_o give_v all_o diligence_n to_o add_v to_o their_o faith_n virtue_n etc._n etc._n verse_n 5._o and_o this_o serve_v they_o not_o only_o from_o fall_v total_o when_o in_o the_o natural_a body_n some_o member_n be_v mortal_o wound_v and_o kill_v and_o yet_o the_o whole_a person_n be_v not_o slay_v thereby_o but_o all_o gross_a sin_n such_o as_o fornication_n adultery_n murder_n theft_n robbery_n etc._n etc._n make_v havoc_n waste_n and_o destroy_v the_o soul_n life_n and_o kill_v the_o whole_a man_n who_o notwithstanding_o god_n in_o his_o infinite_a mercy_n may_v and_o do_v at_o time_n restore_v for_o we_o read_v of_o no_o sin_n unpardonable_a but_o that_o of_o blasphemy_n against_o the_o holy_a ghost_n and_o do_v despite_n to_o the_o spirit_n of_o grace_n and_o such_o who_o be_v come_v to_o this_o noble_a degree_n and_o state_n of_o sanctification_n be_v describe_v psal_n 119.2_o 3._o bless_a be_v they_o that_o keep_v his_o testimony_n and_o that_o seek_v he_o with_o the_o whole_a heart_n they_o also_o do_v no_o iniquity_n they_o walk_v in_o his_o way_n and_o such_o have_v their_o call_v and_o election_n make_v sure_a unto_o they_o such_o be_v not_o mere_o or_o bare_o servant_n nor_o son_n of_o the_o bondwoman_n but_o son_n of_o the_o freewoman_n and_o thorough_o renew_v and_o bear_v of_o god_n who_o do_v not_o commit_v sin_n for_o his_o seed_n remain_v in_o they_o 1_o john_n 3.9_o and_o he_o can_v sin_v because_o he_o be_v bear_v of_o god_n for_o indeed_o to_o he_o that_o be_v bear_v of_o god_n sin_n be_v contrary_a to_o his_o new_a nature_n as_o much_o as_o holiness_n or_o righteousness_n be_v contrary_a to_o the_o devil_n nature_n or_o as_o one_o contrary_a thing_n can_v be_v to_o another_o as_o it_o be_v contrary_a to_o a_o fish_n to_o live_v on_o dry_a land_n or_o for_o a_o sheep_n or_o dove_n to_o live_v in_o the_o bottom_n of_o the_o sea_n but_o whoever_o commit_v any_o gross_a thing_n as_o fornication_n murder_n adultery_n theft_n robbery_n perjury_n &c._n &c._n never_o arrive_v to_o this_o pure_a and_o perfect_a state_n of_o sonship_n be_v but_o servant_n and_o not_o pure_o and_o perfect_o son_n and_o yet_o the_o state_n of_o the_o servant_n be_v a_o true_a and_o good_a state_n in_o its_o place_n and_o as_o faithful_o improve_v lead_v on_o infallible_o to_o the_o state_n of_o pure_a and_o perfect_a sonship_n and_o such_o who_o have_v attain_v to_o this_o pure_a and_o perfect_a state_n of_o sonship_n can_v say_v with_o paul_n gal._n 4.31_o so_o then_o brethren_n we_o be_v not_o child_n of_o the_o bondwoman_n but_o of_o the_o free_n and_o with_o john_n 1_o john_n 2.19_o they_o to_o wit_n such_o who_o be_v not_o true_a son_n but_o at_o best_a only_a servant_n go_v out_o from_o we_o but_o they_o be_v not_o of_o we_o etc._n etc._n to_o wit_n son_n and_o child_n of_o the_o freewoman_n or_o the_o child_n of_o the_o new_a covenant_n they_o be_v only_o of_o hagar_n that_o signify_v the_o law_n or_o first_o covenant_n and_o to_o conclude_v the_o righteousness_n and_o holiness_n of_o the_o first_o covenant_n may_v be_v total_o fall_v from_o such_o as_o be_v that_o of_o the_o angel_n who_o fall_v and_o adam_z the_o first_o man_n he_o fall_v total_o and_o so_o may_v they_o who_o be_v not_o further_o advance_v than_o to_o bear_v the_o image_n of_o he_o the_o earthly_a adam_n but_o the_o righteousness_n and_o holiness_n of_o the_o new_a covenant_n such_o as_o they_o attain_v unto_o who_o be_v thorough_o bear_v of_o god_n and_o be_v make_v overcomer_n and_o conqueror_n yea_o more_o than_o conqueror_n as_o the_o scripture_n phrase_v it_o and_o be_v make_v conform_a to_o the_o image_n of_o christ_n the_o second_o adam_n the_o lord_n from_o heaven_n heavenly_a can_v be_v fall_v from_o or_o lose_v such_o have_v overcome_v be_v make_v pillar_n in_o the_o house_n of_o god_n so_o as_o no_o more_o to_o go_v out_o rev._n 3.12_o and_o to_o this_o state_n only_o do_v all_o these_o place_n of_o scripture_n relate_v that_o hold_v forth_o and_o imply_v a_o sure_a and_o absolute_a steadfastness_n in_o holiness_n and_o righteousness_n but_o who_o be_v thus_o far_o advance_v and_o who_o be_v not_o although_o infallible_a sign_n and_o mark_n of_o distinction_n may_v be_v give_v of_o these_o two_o so_o differ_v state_n god_n only_o infallible_o know_v and_o they_o to_o who_o he_o do_v reveal_v it_o for_o it_o be_v god_n that_o must_v make_v know_v by_o the_o inward_a revelation_n of_o his_o holy_a spirit_n who_o have_v these_o mark_n otherwise_o man_n may_v presume_v to_o have_v they_o when_o they_o have_v they_o not_o and_o of_o these_o infallible_a sign_n and_o mark_n some_o of_o they_o be_v to_o love_n god_n with_o the_o whole_a heart_n to_o love_v he_o pure_o and_o perfect_o to_o love_v he_o for_o himself_o and_o to_o desire_v to_o enjoy_v he_o as_o he_o be_v a_o god_n of_o holiness_n purity_n and_o righteousness_n more_o than_o for_o gift_n or_o comfort_n or_o reward_n that_o be_v of_o a_o inferior_a nature_n to_o hate_v and_o fear_v sin_n more_o than_o all_o punishment_n for_o sin_n to_o have_v no_o inward_a inclination_n or_o desire_v to_o revenge_v injury_n but_o most_o willing_o and_o hearty_o to_o forgive_v and_o bear_v they_o to_o love_v enemy_n from_o the_o very_a inward_a ground_n and_o bottom_n of_o the_o heart_n and_o always_o to_o render_v
