outward_o hear_v or_o inward_o conceive_v i_o mean_v word_n consist_v of_o letter_n or_o syllable_n such_o as_o be_v not_o the_o thing_n but_o sign_n of_o thing_n even_o as_o we_o have_v a_o sensible_a and_o intuitive_a knowledge_n of_o a_o land_n by_o see_v it_o and_o eat_v the_o fruit_n of_o it_o and_o drink_v the_o good_a wine_n or_o milk_n of_o it_o though_o we_o be_v not_o hear_v or_o read_v of_o it_o nor_o think_v of_o any_o word_n that_o ever_o we_o read_v or_o hear_v of_o it_o and_o so_o often_o the_o soul_n of_o god_n people_n enjoy_v a_o sweet_a sight_n taste_n and_o repast_n of_o he_o in_o a_o deep_a inward_a quiet_a and_o stillness_n of_o mind_n have_v no_o word_n of_o any_o sort_n that_o can_v be_v express_v in_o letter_n or_o syllable_n so_o much_o as_o in_o that_o reveal_v the_o wine_n but_o also_o the_o wine_n itself_o and_o the_o wine_n be_v the_o most_o desirable_a and_o pleasant_a and_o acceptable_a object_n of_o both_o our_o sight_n and_o taste_v and_o feeling_n so_o that_o we_o regard_v the_o glass_n or_o cup_n little_a or_o nothing_o for_o itself_o but_o for_o its_o use_n and_o service_n to_o we_o and_o if_o there_o be_v no_o wine_n or_o other_o refresh_a liquor_n in_o the_o cup_n we_o care_v not_o to_o use_v it_o it_o have_v no_o taste_n unto_o we_o nor_o service_n but_o as_o the_o wine_n be_v in_o it_o and_o thus_o it_o be_v with_o the_o live_a soul_n that_o thirst_v after_o the_o live_a god_n and_o to_o drink_v of_o his_o spirit_n that_o quicken_v and_o refresh_v the_o soul_n when_o it_o see_v or_o perceive_v any_o divine_a virtue_n or_o life_n as_o god_n be_v please_v when_o how_o or_o by_o who_o to_o join_v of_o the_o same_o to_o it_o in_o scripture_n word_n either_o preach_v read_v or_o meditate_a it_o be_v very_o sect._n 1._o and_o cap._n 11.5_o of_o their_o confession_n nor_o from_o their_o justification_n be_v not_o only_o a_o most_o false_a and_o pernicious_a doctrine_n but_o a_o most_o wonderful_a piece_n of_o confusion_n for_o if_o he_o that_o be_v both_o murderer_n and_o adulterer_n in_o the_o very_a act_n and_o remain_v in_o that_o or_o these_o sin_n without_o repentance_n for_o some_o time_n be_v real_o saint_n and_o justify_v then_o who_o may_v be_v say_v not_o to_o be_v saint_n or_o what_o difference_n be_v there_o betwixt_o the_o saint_n and_o no_o saint_n betwixt_o the_o godly_a and_o the_o wicked_a good_a man_n and_o evil_a man_n if_o a_o man_n that_o be_v both_o murderer_n and_o adulterer_n be_v a_o real_a saint_n and_o a_o justify_v man_n than_o the_o worst_a of_o man_n may_v general_o believe_v they_o be_v true_a and_o real_a saint_n and_o you_o can_v convince_v they_o of_o the_o contrary_a for_o by_o what_o mean_n can_v they_o be_v convince_v thereof_o tell_v they_o of_o their_o sin_n lie_v steal_v drunkenness_n swear_v murder_n and_o adultery_n none_o of_o all_o this_o according_a to_o this_o wicked_a doctrine_n do_v prove_v they_o to_o be_v no_o saint_n or_o that_o they_o have_v not_o true_a faith_n and_o therefore_o if_o they_o die_v in_o these_o gross_a sin_n they_o must_v go_v to_o heaven_n immediate_o because_o they_o shall_v die_v in_o faith_n they_o shall_v die_v sanctify_v and_o justify_v man_n than_o which_o i_o know_v no_o great_a confusion_n and_o daub_v with_o untempered_a mortar_n and_o sew_v pillow_n under_o people_n armhole_n like_o the_o sweet_a poison_n that_o though_o it_o be_v sweet_a to_o the_o flesh_n yet_o it_o kill_v the_o soul_n do_v not_o the_o scripture_n say_v the_o soul_n that_o sin_v shall_v die_v and_o the_o wage_n of_o sin_n be_v death_n and_o as_o every_o sin_n do_v in_o some_o measure_n kill_v the_o soul_n so_o great_a sin_n such_o as_o murder_n and_o adultery_n than_o which_o we_o can_v hardly_o suppose_v any_o do_v not_o this_o loose_a the_o reins_o to_o all_o sort_n of_o wickedness_n and_o make_v god_n a_o respecter_n of_o person_n and_o faith_n a_o sort_n of_o proof_n that_o though_o man_n once_o have_v can_v kill_v they_o they_o be_v still_o saint_n for_o all_o this_o and_o justify_v in_o the_o sight_n of_o god_n and_o if_o saint_n then_o good_a enough_o to_o be_v your_o church-member_n yea_o member_n of_o the_o independent_a or_o congregational_a church_n why_o what_o do_v hinder_v but_o they_o be_v as_o real_a and_o lawful_a member_n of_o the_o church_n as_o any_o other_o and_o if_o murderer_n and_o adulterer_n while_o such_o be_v still_o saint_n and_o qualify_v to_o be_v your_o church-member_n it_o be_v no_o wonder_n that_o your_o church_n be_v large_a and_o have_v a_o great_a number_n of_o member_n it_o be_v no_o great_a difficulty_n to_o be_v a_o member_n of_o that_o church_n when_o a_o murderer_n a_o adulterer_n can_v be_v a_o member_n of_o it_o be_v this_o your_o pretence_n to_o reformation_n and_o why_o you_o estimate_v your_o church_n more_o holy_a than_o the_o church_n of_o rome_n but_o be_v not_o your_o church_n and_o doctrine_n in_o this_o respect_n much_o more_o unholy_a for_o the_o church_n of_o rome_n say_v all_o gross_a or_o great_a sin_n as_o fornication_n adultery_n murder_n and_o the_o like_a be_v real_o mortal_a sin_n in_o all_o that_o commit_v they_o without_o respect_n of_o person_n and_o whoever_o commit_v such_o sin_n be_v fall_v from_o their_o state_n in_o grace_n and_o so_o say_v the_o scripture_n 1_o cor._n 6.9_o 10._o be_v most_o evident_o appear_v that_o their_o doctrine_n in_o this_o particular_a be_v antichristian_a and_o contrary_a to_o the_o doctrine_n of_o the_o holy_a scripture_n and_o to_o say_v that_o murder_n or_o adultery_n in_o he_o that_o have_v once_o true_o believe_v be_v not_o a_o mortal_a or_o kill_a sin_n but_o be_v a_o mortal_a sin_n in_o he_o that_o have_v not_o believe_v be_v not_o only_o to_o make_v god_n a_o respecter_n of_o person_n in_o the_o worst_a sense_n

of_o christ_n or_o his_o life_n and_o power_n or_o grace_n or_o heavenly_a presence_n and_o appearance_n be_v requisite_a to_o constitute_v any_o member_n of_o their_o visible_a church_n and_o thus_o though_o all_o the_o member_n of_o their_o visible_a church_n be_v gross_a and_o notorious_a hypocrite_n and_o mere_a empty_a formalist_n have_v only_o a_o form_n of_o godliness_n without_o the_o power_n of_o it_o they_o be_v sufficient_o qualify_v to_o be_v their_o church-member_n yea_o notorious_o slanderous_a person_n notorious_o liar_n deceiver_n drunkard_n adulterer_n thief_n murderers_z be_v qualify_v member_n of_o their_o church_n for_o all_o these_o and_o the_o worst_a of_o man_n may_v profess_v the_o true_a religion_n it_o be_v strange_a that_o independent_o so_o call_v require_v no_o more_o but_o to_o profess_v the_o true_a religion_n to_o make_v people_n member_n of_o their_o church_n why_o do_v they_o former_o separate_v and_o set_v up_o church_n apart_o not_o only_o from_o the_o popish_a and_o episcopal_a but_o from_o the_o presbyterian_a church_n so_o call_v if_o a_o profession_n of_o the_o true_a religion_n be_v enough_o to_o qualify_v person_n to_o be_v church-member_n of_o their_o church_n do_v not_o those_o profess_v the_o true_a religion_n as_o well_o as_o these_o call_v independent_o yea_o do_v not_o the_o presbyterian_o profess_v the_o same_o religion_n in_o all_o part_n with_o these_o call_v independent_o and_o differ_v nothing_o from_o they_o but_o in_o some_o small_a circumstance_n of_o discipline_n government_n and_o the_o like_a 2._o we_o find_v no_o such_o church_n in_o all_o the_o scripture_n own_v to_o be_v a_o church_n of_o god_n or_o christ_n that_o the_o outward_a form_n or_o profession_n of_o true_a religion_n do_v make_v a_o church_n of_o god_n or_o christ_n but_o on_o the_o contrary_a these_o who_o have_v the_o form_n of_o godliness_n but_o have_v not_o the_o power_n of_o it_o and_o deny_v the_o power_n the_o scripture_n bid_v turn_v away_o from_o they_o for_o of_o this_o sort_n be_v they_o which_o creep_v into_o house_n etc._n etc._n see_v 2_o tim._n 3.5_o 6._o and_o consequent_o these_o can_v be_v no_o true_a church_n of_o christ_n and_o as_o for_o the_o distinction_n of_o the_o church_n visible_a and_o invisible_a it_o may_v be_v own_v in_o a_o sense_n but_o not_o in_o that_o sense_n give_v by_o they_o as_o if_o to_o profess_v the_o true_a religion_n be_v sufficient_a to_o make_v a_o people_n to_o be_v a_o true_a visible_a church_n of_o christ_n for_o the_o invisible_a church_n and_o the_o visible_a do_v not_o differ_v in_o substance_n or_o nature_n but_o in_o some_o circumstance_n of_o time_n place_n and_o outward_a action_n and_o it_o may_v be_v well_o allow_v that_o a_o company_n or_o assembly_n of_o true_o holy_a man_n and_o woman_n meet_v together_o at_o certain_a time_n and_o place_n that_o be_v know_v to_o people_n among_o who_o they_o dwell_v and_o call_v together_o upon_o the_o name_n of_o the_o lord_n and_o teach_v and_o instruct_v and_o edify_v one_o another_o every_o one_o use_v his_o spiritual_a gift_n of_o ministration_n whether_o in_o pray_v or_o prophesy_v to_o the_o edification_n of_o the_o whole_a may_v be_v call_v a_o visible_a church_n insomuch_o that_o they_o appear_v in_o external_a or_o outward_a and_o bodily_a work_n and_o action_n to_o be_v teach_v lead_v and_o guide_v by_o the_o infallible_a spirit_n of_o christ_n which_o be_v in_o the_o prophet_n and_o apostle_n and_o in_o all_o true_a christian_n if_o you_o have_v not_o this_o spirit_n your_o spirit_n be_v not_o only_o fallible_a but_o false_a to_o wit_n the_o spirit_n of_o this_o world_n for_o there_o be_v but_o two_o spirit_n that_o do_v teach_v lead_v and_o
