serve_v he_o and_o the_o same_o hold_v in_o all_o outward_a act_n of_o worship_n 5_o thly_a we_o must_v remember_v that_o it_o be_v in_o these_o outward_a act_n that_o we_o be_v more_o immediate_o concern_v as_o public_a worshipper_n for_o we_o can_v know_v the_o inward_a worship_n which_o man_n pay_v to_o god_n in_o their_o mind_n but_o as_o it_o appear_v to_o we_o by_o these_o outward_a act_n and_o general_o when_o we_o speak_v of_o the_o public_a worship_n of_o god_n we_o mean_v this_o outward_a and_o concern_v it_o be_v the_o great_a dispute_n and_o difference_n among_o we_o all_o of_o we_o be_v agree_v as_o to_o the_o inward_a and_o of_o what_o sort_n that_o ought_v to_o be_v iv._o have_v premise_v these_o few_o thing_n which_o i_o hope_v will_v be_v grant_v by_o all_o i_o shall_v proceed_v direct_o to_o my_o propose_a undertake_n and_o shall_v with_o the_o great_a fairness_n and_o impartiallity_n i_o can_v examine_v and_o compare_v the_o worship_n of_o god_n which_o be_v direct_v and_o warrant_v by_o scripture_n as_o well_o with_o that_o which_o be_v prescribe_v and_o practise_v by_o our_o church_n as_o with_o that_o which_o be_v practise_v by_o such_o as_o differ_v from_o we_o v._o now_o if_o we_o consider_v the_o ordinary_a service_n of_o god_n as_o prescribe_v and_o practise_v in_o scripture_n we_o shall_v find_v the_o main_a substantial_a part_n of_o it_o to_o be_v these_o five_o vizt_v praise_n prayer_n hear_v bodily_a worship_n and_o celebration_n of_o the_o holy_a sacrament_n of_o the_o body_n and_o blood_n of_o christ._n the_o method_n i_o shall_v take_v in_o discourse_v of_o each_o of_o these_o shall_v be_v first_o to_o show_v what_o the_o holy_a scripture_n
the_o sense_n of_o it_o and_o in_o that_o respect_n very_o inconvenient_a and_o be_v likewise_o a_o late_a invention_n of_o our_o own_o never_o use_v by_o any_o foreign_a church_n either_o popish_a or_o reform_a for_o aught_o i_o can_v find_v to_o this_o day_n and_o have_v be_v take_v up_o to_o supply_v the_o negligence_n and_o laziness_n of_o people_n who_o will_v not_o now_o as_o former_o be_v perhaps_o it_o may_v not_o be_v so_o proper_a to_o press_v the_o use_n of_o instrument_n in_o the_o service_n of_o god_n in_o these_o part_n where_o so_o many_o for_o want_v of_o be_v use_v to_o they_o have_v entertain_v prejudices_fw-la against_o they_o and_o some_o be_v uncapable_a of_o be_v affect_v by_o they_o yet_o the_o make_v they_o unlawful_a be_v against_o nature_n and_o scripture_n be_v a_o sufficient_a warrant_n to_o christian_n because_o they_o be_v take_v out_o of_o the_o old_a testament_n before_o the_o spirit_n be_v pour_v out_o in_o so_o plentiful_a a_o measure_n as_o and_o in_o some_o certain_a form_n of_o prayer_n add_v to_o they_o and_o constant_o use_v in_o their_o daily_a service_n as_o we_o learn_v from_o those_o that_o give_v a_o account_n of_o the_o jewish_a worship_n at_o that_o scripture_n time_n now_o our_o saviour_n and_o his_o apostle_n be_v frequent_o present_a at_o their_o service_n both_o in_o the_o temple_n and_o synagogue_n it_o be_v manifest_a they_o approve_v the_o manner_n of_o addressing_z themselves_o to_o god_n in_o a_o set_a form_n of_o word_n 2._o but_o our_o saviour_n have_v put_v this_o matter_n out_o of_o all_o
