so_o as_o to_o have_v one_o part_n in_o one_o place_n and_o another_o in_o another_o but_o all_o god_n be_v in_o every_o place_n but_o the_o reason_n why_o god_n be_v say_v to_o be_v in_o heaven_n it_o be_v because_o the_o lord_n make_v know_v himself_o there_o in_o a_o more_o glorious_a manner_n then_o in_o any_o other_o place_n and_o therefore_o heaven_n be_v the_o presence_n of_o god_n in_o a_o more_o special_a way_n now_o than_o if_o the_o communication_n of_o god_n unto_o a_o creature_n be_v enough_o to_o make_v the_o presence_n of_o god_n more_o special_a if_o this_o be_v enough_o to_o make_v a_o creature_n to_o live_v with_o god_n and_o to_o be_v before_o his_o face_n because_o they_o be_v there_o where_o god_n do_v most_o communicate_v himself_o then_o certain_o when_o we_o come_v to_o worship_n god_n we_o come_v to_o be_v near_o god_n and_o be_v with_o god_n because_o the_o duty_n of_o his_o worship_n be_v those_o mean_n that_o the_o lord_n have_v appoint_v for_o the_o because_o than_o we_o shall_v and_o if_o we_o worship_n god_n as_o we_o ought_v we_o do_v act_v our_o faith_n and_o humility_n and_o all_o the_o grace_n of_o the_o spirit_n we_o do_v act_v they_o as_o near_o to_o he_o therefore_o in_o isa_n 29._o 13._o the_o lord_n complain_v there_o this_o people_n draw_v near_o to_o i_o with_o their_o lip_n but_o their_o heart_n be_v far_o from_o i_o as_o if_o god_n shall_v say_v indeed_o they_o come_v and_o speak_v to_o i_o and_o therefore_o they_o think_v they_o draw_v nigh_o to_o i_o but_o i_o expect_v that_o their_o heart_n shall_v be_v act_v upon_o i_o god_n and_o to_o acknowledge_v god_n in_o all_o but_o now_o when_o i_o come_v to_o worship_n god_n than_o all_o the_o strength_n of_o my_o soul_n be_v to_o be_v act_v upon_o god_n in_o a_o more_o give_v you_o these_o note_n to_o try_v whither_o you_o be_v act_v from_o yourselves_o or_o no._n the_o first_o be_v this_o if_o a_o man_n love_v holy_a duty_n though_o he_o find_v no_o present_a good_a come_v in_o by_o they_o because_o they_o be_v such_o thing_n as_o god_n requir_n and_o therefore_o though_o i_o get_v nothing_o by_o they_o yet_o this_o be_v enough_o to_o carry_v i_o on_o one_o thing_n with_o another_o or_o draw_v consequence_n plain_o from_o the_o word_n we_o must_v have_v a_o warrant_n for_o the_o worship_n of_o god_n one_o will_v have_v think_v that_o these_o priest_n offer_v incense_n to_o the_o true_a god_n what_o hurt_n be_v there_o in_o take_v other_o fire_n but_o there_o be_v no_o command_n for_o it_o and_o therefore_o it_o be_v not_o accept_v it_o have_v in_o its_o own_o nature_n there_o i_o must_v look_v for_o a_o command_n for_o if_o i_o account_v one_o place_n more_o holy_a than_o another_o or_o to_o think_v that_o god_n shall_v accept_v of_o worship_n in_o one_o place_n rather_o than_o in_o another_o this_o be_v to_o raise_v it_o above_o what_o it_o be_v in_o its_o own_o nature_n so_o that_o when_o any_o creature_n be_v raise_v in_o a_o religious_a way_n above_o what_o it_o have_v in_o it_o by_o nature_n if_o i_o have_v not_o scripture_n to_o warrant_v i_o i_o be_o therein_o superstitious_a it_o be_v a_o very_a useful_a rule_n prince_n that_o there_o be_v no_o reason_n for_o they_o at_o all_o but_o mere_o because_o it_o be_v a_o civil_a institution_n so_o appoint_v so_o god_n will_v have_v some_o way_n for_o the_o honour_n of_o he_o that_o the_o creature_n shall_v not_o see_v into_o the_o reason_n of_o they_o but_o mere_o the_o will_n

death_n will_v be_v take_v away_o there_o be_v no_o such_o way_n to_o take_v off_o the_o terror_n of_o the_o thought_n of_o death_n as_o by_o keep_v familiarity_n with_o god_n death_n then_o be_v joyful_a to_o those_o that_o converse_v with_o he_o that_o reverend_a divine_a that_o be_v now_o with_o god_n doctor_n preston_n when_o he_o be_v to_o die_v he_o have_v this_o speech_n i_o shall_v endeavour_v to_o open_v it_o 1_o first_o in_o show_v you_o wherein_o the_o sanctification_n of_o god_n name_n consist_v or_o what_o we_o shall_v do_v that_o we_o may_v sanctify_v the_o name_n of_o under_o these_o two_o head_n all_o that_o i_o shall_v speak_v about_o the_o open_n of_o the_o sanctify_a of_o god_n name_n will_v be_v contain_v at_o this_o time_n i_o shall_v only_o speak_v of_o the_o first_o the_o due_a preparation_n of_o the_o soul_n unto_o the_o duty_n of_o god_n worship_n therein_o consist_v a_o special_a part_n of_o the_o sanctify_a of_o god_n name_n in_o draw_v nigh_o to_o he_o and_o that_o it_o be_v so_o we_o find_v it_o in_o scripture_n that_o preparation_n for_o worship_n it_o be_v call_v the_o sanctify_a of_o ourselves_o and_o by_o find_v this_o in_o scripture_n it_o hint_v i_o upon_o this_o head_n to_o speak_v of_o the_o preparation_n unto_o worship_n in_o our_o sanctify_a god_n name_v because_o i_o find_v in_o scripture_n that_o the_o sanctify_a ourselves_o for_o worship_n and_o the_o preparation_n of_o ourselves_o for_o worship_n be_v all_o one_o i_o will_v give_v you_o these_o two_o text_n in_o 1_o sam._n 16._o 5._o you_o shall_v find_v there_o that_o samuel_n when_o he_o be_v send_v by_o god_n to_o anoint_v david_n in_o bethlem_n the_o text_n say_v i_o be_o come_v to_o sacrifice_n unto_o the_o lord_n sanctify_v yourselves_o and_o come_v with_o i_o to_o the_o sacrifice_n do_v you_o come_v peaceable_o say_v they_o yes_o what_o then_o sanctify_v yourselves_o and_o come_v with_o i_o to_o the_o sacrifice_n that_o be_v all_o one_o as_o if_o he_o shall_v have_v say_v prepare_v yourselves_o and_o come_v with_o i_o to_o the_o sacrifice_n and_o so_o in_o job_n 1._o 5._o there_o you_o shall_v find_v that_o the_o holy_a man_n joh_n when_o his_o son_n have_v be_v feast_v he_o be_v some_o what_o afraid_a lest_o there_o shall_v be_v some_o miscarriage_n and_o that_o they_o have_v sin_v against_o god_n in_o their_o feast_n as_o it_o be_v very_o hard_a to_o give_v liberty_n to_o please_v the_o flesh_n and_o not_o to_o sin_n not_o to_o transgress_v bound_n therefore_o job_n though_o he_o do_v not_o hear_v of_o any_o notorious_a show_v you_o that_o we_o must_v prepare_v for_o the_o worship_n of_o god_n 2_o second_o i_o shall_v show_v you_o wherein_o this_o preparation_n for_o the_o worship_n of_o god_n do_v consist_v 3_o of_o god_n this_o business_n and_o the_o other_o business_n will_v hinder_v the_o entanglement_n they_o will_v hinder_v the_o temptation_n of_o the_o devil_n they_o will_v hinder_v sometime_o the_o indisposition_n of_o our_o body_n do_v mighty_o hinder_v and_o the_o stir_n of_o the_o passion_n of_o our_o mind_n they_o hinder_v if_o there_o be_v any_o business_n fall_v out_o amisle_v in_o the_o family_n and_o any_o thing_n go_v but_o cross_a how_o be_v we_o put_v off_o the_o hinge_n &_o make_v unfit_a for_o holy_a duty_n there_o have_v need_n be_v preparation_n therefore_o because_o there_o be_v so_o many_o hindrance_n in_o the_o way_n many_o of_o you_o will_v complain_v that_o you_o be_v much_o hinder_v but_o do_v you_o do_v what_o you_o can_v to_o make_v preparation_n before_o hand_n do_v the_o hindrance_n that_o you_o complain_v of_o put_v you_o on_o to_o be_v so_o much_o the_o more_o careful_a to_o make_v due_a preparation_n for_o holy_a duty_n five_o 5_o we_o find_v that_o the_o heathen_n themselves_o by_o the_o light_n of_o nature_n when_o they_o do_v but_o worship_v their_o idol_n god_n they_o will_v make_v some_o preparation_n such_o as_o be_v suitable_a to_o those_o god_n that_o the_o worship_v therefore_o they_o will_v wash_v their_o flesh_n and_o purge_v themselves_o but_o though_o their_o preparation_n be_v but_o very_o poor_a yet_o they_o teach_v we_o thus_o much_o that_o they_o be_v convin_v in_o their_o conscience_n that_o when_o god_n be_v to_o be_v worship_v people_n shall_v be_v prepare_v the_o six_o &_o last_o reason_n have_v a_o great_a deal_n in_o it_o 6_o which_o i_o beseech_v you_o consider_v of_o we_o find_v that_o the_o scripture_n do_v make_v the_o uprightnes_n of_o the_o heart_n much_o to_o consist_v in_o preparation_n for_o worship_n and_o do_v make_v the_o falseness_n of_o the_o heart_n to_o consist_v in_o this_o that_o man_n do_v not_o prepare_v perhaps_o you_o have_v not_o so_o much_o think_v of_o this_o but_o yet_o it_o be_v of_o excellent_a use_n unto_o you_o we_o shall_v find_v the_o scripture_n do_v make_v the_o very_a uprightness_n of_o the_o heart_n to_o consist_v in_o the_o preparation_n for_o duty_n and_o the_o you_o very_o plain_o and_o clear_o take_v these_o two_o example_n the_o first_o of_o rehoboam_n and_o the_o second_o of_o jehoshaphat_n one_o a_o wicked_a man_n who_o heart_n be_v false_a and_o the_o other_o a_o godly_a man_n who_o heart_n be_v right_a with_o god_n the_o falseness_n of_o the_o heart_n of_o the_o one_o be_v in_o 2_o chron._n 12._o 14._o there_o you_o have_v what_o god_n thought_n of_o rehoboam_n be_v in_o the_o verse_n before_o but_o now_o he_o bring_v the_o reason_n of_o his_o sentence_n upon_o he_o and_o say_v the_o text_n he_o do_v evil_a because_o he_o prepare_v not_o ready_a to_o revenge_v himself_o upon_o those_o that_o in_o a_o way_n of_o rebellion_n do_v rend_v themselves_o from_o under_o his_o government_n &_o he_o obey_v the_o word_n of_o the_o lord_n but_o for_o all_o that_o he_o do_v evil_a in_o the_o fight_n of_o the_o lord_n god_n look_v upon_o he_o as_o a_o man_n that_o have_v no_o uprightnes_n in_o he_o why_o for_o he_o do_v not_o prepare_v his_o heart_n to_o seek_v the_o lord_n say_v god_n i_o look_v upon_o all_o rehoboam_n do_v as_o nothing_o i_o look_v upon_o his_o way_n as_o evil_a and_o himself_o as_o a_o wicked_a man_n why_o because_o he_o do_v not_o prepare_v his_o heart_n to_o seek_v the_o lord_n if_o his_o hart_n have_v be_v upright_o with_o i_o he_o will_v have_v prepare_v his_o heart_n to_o seek_v i_o i_o beseech_v you_o now_o course_n of_o their_o life_n they_o have_v other_o manner_n of_o freedom_n in_o prayer_n than_o you_o that_o walk_v loose_o and_o contract_v guiltiness_n upon_o your_o spirit_n and_o then_o the_o second_o thing_n be_v to_o keep_v our_o heart_n sensible_a of_o our_o continual_a dependence_n upon_o god_n sensible_a how_o we_o depend_v upon_o god_n for_o whatsoever_o we_o be_v whatsoever_o we_o have_v whatsoever_o we_o do_v for_o the_o blessing_n of_o all_o be_v from_o god_n the_o beam_n of_o the_o sun_n do_v not_o so_o depend_v upon_o the_o sun_n as_o we_o upon_o god_n that_o if_o he_o do_v
