to_o keep_v they_o company_n in_o the_o severe_a exercise_n of_o mortification_n and_o high_a act_n of_o self-denial_n etc._n etc._n which_o must_v be_v perform_v by_o those_o that_o look_v to_o lift_v up_o their_o head_n in_o glory_n above_o other_o their_o brethren_n the_o saint_n in_o heaven_n and_o withal_o how_o full_a of_o joy_n and_o bless_a contentment_n it_o will_v be_v unto_o they_o if_o they_o shall_v be_v count_v meet_a to_o enjoy_v be_v it_o the_o mean_a place_n among_o those_o that_o be_v save_v these_o thing_n i_o say_v haply_o with_o many_o more_o consider_v they_o may_v conclude_v that_o it_o be_v best_o for_o they_o to_o content_v themselves_o with_o design_v nothing_o high_a than_o salvation_n simple_o or_o the_o scant_a entrance_n into_o heaven_n and_o not_o to_o lift_v up_o their_o desire_n unto_o the_o height_n of_o glory_n there_o therefore_o the_o consideration_n mention_v do_v not_o put_v they_o to_o rebuke_v although_o they_o do_v not_o desire_v part_n and_o fellowship_n in_o the_o high_a advancement_n in_o heaven_n to_o this_o i_o answer_v that_o it_o be_v a_o objection_n or_o plea_n savour_v of_o the_o flesh_n though_o it_o may_v express_v the_o case_n of_o person_n in_o some_o degree_n spiriritual_a it_o be_v somewhat_o of_o kin_n to_o that_o award_n of_o the_o sluggard_n who_o as_o solomon_n inform_v we_o be_v wont_a to_o be_v wise_a in_o his_o own_o conceit_n prov._n 26.16_o between_o one_o handful_n and_o two_o when_o one_o may_v be_v have_v with_o ease_n and_o quietness_n but_o two_o not_o without_o labour_n and_o trouble_v better_a say_v the_o wiseman_n speak_v of_o the_o spirit_n of_o such_o a_o fool_n as_o he_o here_o call_v he_o be_v a_o handful_n with_o quietness_n than_o both_o the_o hand_n full_a with_o travel_n and_o vexation_n of_o spirit_n eccles_n 4.6_o for_o he_o that_o judge_v it_o best_o for_o he_o to_o pitch_v his_o desire_n upon_o get_v into_o heaven_n only_o and_o not_o to_o strain_v or_o raise_v they_o saint_n and_o servant_n of_o god_n to_o kindle_v a_o spirit_n of_o this_o holy_a and_o heavenly_a ambition_n even_o to_o desire_v to_o be_v as_o great_a in_o the_o kingdom_n of_o heaven_n as_o the_o great_a of_o they_o all_o i_o mean_v of_o the_o great_a of_o those_o who_o the_o grace_n and_o spirit_n of_o jesus_n christ_n shall_v bring_v thither_o and_o thus_o i_o trust_v we_o have_v make_v good_a the_o second_o thing_n suppose_v in_o the_o five_o and_o last_o reason_n of_o our_o doctrine_n viz._n that_o the_o saint_n be_v under_o a_o obligation_n of_o duty_n to_o put_v themselves_o into_o a_o capacity_n of_o the_o most_o sublime_a investiture_n with_o glory_n which_o god_n have_v prepare_v for_o the_o child_n of_o man_n that_o which_o be_v assertive_o lay_v down_o sect._n 20_o and_o affirm_v in_o this_o reason_n be_v that_o unless_o man_n shall_v be_v fill_v with_o the_o spirit_n in_o the_o sense_n declare_v towards_o the_o beginning_n they_o be_v never_o like_a to_o be_v in_o any_o capacity_n of_o put_v themselves_o into_o a_o capacity_n of_o such_o investiture_n or_o of_o sit_v in_o any_o of_o the_o uppermost_a seat_n at_o that_o table_n at_o which_o the_o saint_n shall_v eat_v bread_n with_o abraham_n isaac_n and_o jacob_n in_o the_o kingdom_n of_o god_n but_o for_o the_o proof_n and_o confirmation_n of_o this_o we_o shall_v not_o need_v to_o add_v any_o thing_n to_o what_o we_o have_v so_o large_o argue_v from_o the_o scripture_n in_o our_o demonstration_n of_o the_o four_o ground_n and_o reason_n of_o the_o doctrine_n it_o must_v not_o be_v a_o portion_n of_o truth_n which_o be_v appropriate_a to_o every_o age_n and_o generation_n that_o come_v over_o the_o world_n which_o be_v to_o be_v open_v unto_o it_o some_o conceive_v that_o the_o considerable_a passage_n of_o scripture_n that_o have_v never_o see_v the_o sun_n that_o have_v never_o be_v so_o general_o understand_v or_o know_v by_o man_n as_o in_o the_o present_a generation_n great_a reward_n assign_v by_o god_n unto_o righteousness_n and_o christian_a worth_n in_o any_o kind_n their_o heart_n will_v never_o serve_v they_o to_o fly_v that_o high_a pitch_n of_o righteousness_n and_o true_a holiness_n which_o without_o controversy_n they_o stand_v engage_v in_o duty_n to_o do_v nor_o yet_o to_o suffer_v those_o thing_n from_o the_o world_n which_o their_o essence_n and_o nature_n so_o have_v they_o a_o more_o excellent_a modus_fw-la or_o manner_n of_o be_v than_o such_o thing_n who_o nature_n and_o essence_n be_v beneath_o and_o less_o noble_a and_o excellent_a in_o the_o order_n of_o creature_n so_o now_o if_o we_o shall_v carry_v up_o this_o rule_n or_o principle_n unto_o god_n and_o apply_v it_o unto_o his_o essence_n and_o be_v it_o will_v be_v no_o manner_n of_o offence_n to_o any_o man_n reason_n and_o understanding_n that_o he_o shall_v not_o be_v able_a to_o comprehend_v how_o or_o after_o what_o manner_n the_o divine_a nature_n and_o essence_n do_v subsist_v because_o his_o essence_n be_v so_o infinite_o above_o and_o differ_v from_o all_o create_a essence_n or_o being_n otherwise_o we_o shall_v conceive_v rude_o of_o god_n manner_n of_o tubsistence_n appropriate_a to_o the_o divine_a essence_n or_o be_v which_o do_v not_o parallel_n nor_o can_v be_v match_v by_o the_o whole_a creation_n and_o that_o it_o may_v be_v thus_o as_o well_o as_o any_o otherwise_o i_o think_v be_v as_o clear_a as_o the_o other_o for_o whatsoever_o you_o will_v imagine_v or_o whatsoever_o your_o understanding_n shall_v project_v unto_o you_o to_o be_v the_o peculiar_a manner_n of_o this_o subsistence_n most_o certain_a it_o be_v that_o it_o will_v be_v as_o hard_a to_o explain_v and_o bring_v it_o down_o to_o the_o capacity_n and_o near_o to_o we_o gospel_n many_o and_o preacher_n many_o but_o in_o the_o mean_a time_n there_o be_v but_o one_o gospel_n for_o we_o for_o those_o that_o know_v the_o truth_n as_o it_o be_v in_o jesus_n and_o yet_o many_o of_o these_o gospel_n we_o speak_v of_o have_v their_o spirit_n that_o do_v attend_v upon_o they_o and_o for_o the_o most_o part_n they_o do_v wait_v upon_o these_o very_a gospel_n and_o ministry_n that_o be_v the_o rank_a of_o all_o other_o fill_v the_o receiver_n of_o they_o with_o the_o great_a assurance_n and_o confidence_n that_o they_o be_v the_o child_n of_o odds_o or_o as_o if_o the_o convey_n of_o scripture_n light_n into_o the_o heart_n and_o judgement_n of_o man_n be_v like_a to_o obscure_v darken_v or_o obstruct_v and_o not_o rather_o to_o increase_v world_n be_v that_o all_o that_o ever_o will_v or_o shall_v be_v justify_v be_v justify_v from_o eternity_n and_o that_o upon_o this_o account_n god_n see_v no_o sin_n in_o they_o yea_o there_o be_v a_o gospel_n which_o preach_v down_o all_o preach_a and_o deni_v the_o usefulness_n thereof_o many_o other_o gospel_n there_o be_v so_o call_v in_o the_o world_n which_o though_o they_o be_v at_o great_a variance_n among_o themselves_o yet_o they_o all_o agree_v in_o enmity_n and_o opposition_n to_o the_o true_a gospel_n of_o christ_n like_o sampson_n fox_n but_o there_o be_v no_o end_n of_o now_o that_o if_o they_o do_v but_o go_v forth_o into_o such_o other_o way_n and_o walk_v in_o such_o other_o path_n that_o then_o they_o shall_v be_v make_v great_a than_o they_o shall_v reign_v like_o king_n and_o prince_n in_o the_o profession_n of_o jesus_n christ_n now_o the_o great_a enemy_n of_o their_o peace_n and_o of_o the_o salvation_n of_o their_o soul_n lie_v in_o wait_n to_o with_o god_n this_o be_v lightsome_a and_o evident_a enough_o of_o itself_o especial_o if_o we_o take_v the_o word_n atonement_n in_o a_o complete_a signification_n i_o mean_v as_o it_o include_v and_o carry_v with_o it_o grace_n and_o acceptation_n of_o a_o man_n person_n with_o god_n for_o when_o god_n be_v actual_o reconcile_v unto_o a_o creature_n and_o have_v accept_v a_o atonement_n for_o his_o sin_n he_o do_v not_o only_o cease_v to_o be_v a_o enemy_n unto_o he_o remain_v still_o as_o a_o stranger_n or_o as_o one_o from_o who_o anger_n or_o displeasure_n the_o person_n
