that_o minister_n be_v send_v to_o preach_v go_v preach_v the_o gospel_n to_o every_o creature_n he_o that_o believe_v shall_v be_v save_v he_o that_o believe_v not_o shall_v be_v damn_v this_o be_v our_o great_a business_n to_o tell_v man_n the_o condition_n on_o which_o they_o shall_v be_v pardon_v justify_v and_o so_o save_v and_o shall_v any_o minister_n be_v ignorant_a of_o their_o great_a message_n yea_o so_o ignorant_a as_o to_o say_v these_o be_v no_o condition_n no_o term_n nothing_o require_v of_o we_o in_o order_n to_o attain_v the_o benefit_n of_o christ_n death_n how_o sad_a shall_v this_o be_v to_o we_o man_n be_v justify_v or_o condemn_v here_o in_o this_o life_n by_o this_o gospel_n in_o a_o law-sense_n and_o in_o this_o sense_n scripture_n for_o the_o most_o part_n use_v the_o word_n justify_v and_o man_n shall_v hereafter_o be_v justify_v or_o condemn_v sentential_o according_a to_o this_o gospel_n thus_o i_o have_v tell_v you_o what_o justification_n be_v and_o salvation_n or_o to_o speak_v more_o strict_o the_o condition_n of_o our_o justification_n and_o salvation_n by_o it_o for_o god_n never_o give_v we_o interest_n in_o his_o son_n merit_n and_o satisfaction_n in_o its_o essential_a nature_n but_o only_o in_o the_o fruit_n and_o effect_n of_o it_o he_o give_v we_o his_o merit_n only_o in_o such_o a_o sense_n as_o a_o man_n be_v say_v figurative_o to_o give_v a_o captive_a a_o sum_n of_o money_n which_o it_o may_v be_v the_o captive_n never_o handle_v never_o have_v it_o give_v to_o he_o at_o all_o proper_o but_o only_o it_o be_v pay_v to_o the_o king_n of_o that_o country_n for_o his_o ransom_n i_o answer_v what_o will_v you_o wish_v or_o desire_v it_o shall_v be_v think_v of_o that_o a_o little_a for_o that_o be_v it_o i_o dare_v
heart_n lest_o we_o shall_v draw_v back_o and_o his_o soul_n have_v no_o pleasure_n in_o we_o do_v not_o say_v this_o be_v not_o to_o be_v suppose_v for_o you_o ought_v to_o put_v such_o supposition_n act_n and_o no_o more_o and_o it_o may_v be_v sometime_o by_o confess_v may_v be_v mean_v no_o more_o than_o confess_v and_o sometime_o faith_n be_v use_v only_o for_o faith_n as_o when_o he_o say_v he_o that_o come_v to_o god_n must_v believe_v that_o god_n be_v there_o by_o believe_v be_v mean_v only_o assent_v and_o so_o when_o we_o read_v of_o faith_n operativeness_n it_o mean_v only_o the_o belief_n of_o the_o truth_n and_o so_o will_v i_o be_v understand_v when_o i_o at_o any_o time_n speak_v of_o faith_n operativeness_n as_o purify_n their_o heart_n by_o faith_n yet_o whenever_o any_o promise_n be_v make_v to_o any_o grace_n or_o act_n whatsoever_o of_o justification_n salvation_n pardon_v there_o it_o impli_v the_o whole_a gospel-condition_n and_o all_o grace_n essential_a to_o christianity_n it_o must_v be_v understand_v caeteris_fw-la paribus_fw-la if_o other_o thing_n answer_v thereto_o and_o this_o i_o can_v prove_v evident_o to_o you_o by_o this_o argument_n else_o a_o man_n will_v have_v right_a by_o the_o promise_n upon_o his_o confess_v though_o he_o do_v not_o forsake_v and_o by_o believe_v that_o christ_n be_v rise_v from_o the_o dead_a though_o he_o shall_v with_o great_a reason_n than_o he_o these_o thing_n be_v 〈◊〉_d 〈◊〉_d 〈◊〉_d 〈◊〉_d 〈◊〉_d thing_n that_o can_v be_v speak_v against_o object_n be_v not_o this_o work_v for_o justification_n or_o righteousness_n be_v there_o no_o danger_n in_o seek_v to_o be_v justify_v and_o save_v by_o work_n ans_fw-fr no_o danger_n at_o all_o in_o this_o sense_n and_o yet_o great_a danger_n in_o another_o sense_n but_o it_o be_v so_o far_o from_o be_v dangerous_a in_o this_o sense_n that_o it_o be_v indispensable_o necessary_a to_o salvation_n they_o only_o shall_v be_v bless_v that_o keep_v his_o commandment_n in_o gospel-sincerity_n that_o they_o may_v have_v right_a to_o the_o tree_n of_o life_n that_o be_v that_o they_o may_v be_v justify_v and_o i_o dare_v confident_o say_v that_o never_o any_o do_v sincere_o obey_v god_n whatever_o confuse_a notion_n some_o good_a man_n have_v have_v in_o their_o brain_n that_o they_o hold_v only_o speculative_o but_o for_o this_o end_n among_o other_o that_o they_o may_v have_v right_a to_o heaven_n which_o be_v justification_n for_o as_o humane_a nature_n now_o be_v and_o i_o think_v i_o may_v say_v the_o same_o concern_v the_o state_n no_o good_a and_o how_o can_v i_o think_v he_o have_v do_v i_o any_o good_a when_o i_o think_v my_o own_o salvation_n be_v no_o good_a as_o i_o certain_o do_v if_o i_o do_v not_o desire_v and_o endeavour_v it_o and_o god_n have_v threaten_v those_o that_o go_v on_o in_o sin_n with_o a_o curse_n and_o hell_n but_o i_o will_v not_o refrain_v sin_n for_o these_o end_n that_o i_o may_v escape_v hell_n i_o will_v only_o act_v out_o of_o love_n i_o will_v be_v above_o scripture_n i_o will_v neither_o be_v move_v with_o promise_n nor_o threat_n but_o there_o be_v another_o sense_n which_o the_o apostle_n speak_v of_o as_o damnable_a the_o pharisaical_a jew_n will_v have_v justification_n and_o righteousness_n without_o pardon_n will_v pure_o and_o mere_o be_v justify_v so_o as_o not_o to_o be_v pardon_v that_o it_o shall_v be_v no_o favour_n to_o justify_v they_o but_o their_o due_a without_o grace_n and_o pardon_n and_o that_o make_v he_o prove_v out_o of_o david_n the_o necessity_n of_o pardon_n rom._n 4._o and_o that_o will_v be_v in_o effect_n to_o say_v without_o the_o satisfaction_n and_o righteousness_n of_o christ_n and_o if_o so_o christ_n die_v in_o vain_a this_o will_v make_v void_a his_o death_n they_o will_v have_v their_o obedience_n to_o the_o moral_a law_n which_o they_o common_o interpret_v as_o reach_v only_o to_o the_o outward_a act_n either_o to_o be_v perfect_a or_o so_o little_a defective_a that_o the_o great_a meritoriousness_n of_o be_v abraham_n seed_n and_o circumcise_v and_o their_o strict_a observance_n of_o the_o ceremonial_a law_n and_o other_o tradition_n never_o command_v will_v make_v up_o what_o want_v and_o their_o righteousness_n be_v complete_a of_o itself_o their_o justification_n will_v be_v of_o due_a debt_n from_o the_o old_a law_n through_o justice_n and_o not_o of_o pardon_n and_o grace_n through_o a_o propitiation_n and_o so_o too_o many_o among_o we_o look_v upon_o their_o good_a work_n as_o meritorious_a though_o they_o be_v sinner_n and_o know_v it_o yet_o they_o think_v the_o good_a work_n of_o alm_n and_o other_o thing_n which_o they_o look_v upon_o as_o no_o duty_n will_v satisfy_v for_o those_o sin_n and_o think_v god_n will_v do_v they_o wrong_n if_o he_o do_v not_o for_o their_o good_a deed_n pardon_v their_o evil_a deed_n think_v their_o good_a work_n be_v very_o good_a and_o deserve_v much_o from_o god_n and_o their_o evil_a not_o very_o evil_a and_o so_o god_n will_v be_v very_o hard_a yea_o unjust_a if_o he_o shall_v condemn_v they_o if_o this_o be_v true_a than_o no_o need_n of_o christ_n he_o then_o die_v in_o vain_a then_o salvation_n will_v be_v of_o debt_n from_o natural_a justice_n from_o the_o old_a law_n and_o not_o of_o grace_n and_o mercy_n and_o pardon_v
