like_v not_o and_o do_v stick_v to_o our_o last_o english_a translation_n as_o apprehend_v those_o that_o do_v it_o to_o be_v every_o way_n their_o equal_n that_o oppose_v it_o nor_o be_v your_o supposition_n like_o this_o how_o much_o without_o measure_n christ_n himself_o have_v of_o the_o spirit_n see_v they_o all_o sing_v a_o hymn_n as_o well_o as_o he_o who_o have_v not_o receive_v extraordinary_a gift_n in_o that_o nature_n that_o christ_n practice_n do_v agree_v with_o the_o rule_n of_o worship_n whereby_o his_o church_n in_o all_o age_n by_o he_o be_v appoint_v wherefore_o because_o christ_n and_o his_o disciple_n do_v sing_v altogether_o in_o a_o ordinary_a manner_n and_o no_o other_o psalm_n be_v speak_v of_o to_o be_v such_o but_o scripture-psalm_n and_o sing_v be_v god_n worship_n or_o else_o you_o say_v nothing_o 2_o and_o that_o it_o be_v from_o a_o special_a gift_n of_o the_o holy_a spirit_n both_o which_o i_o grant_v and_o yet_o you_o get_v nothing_o for_o you_o do_v not_o say_v in_o your_o proposition_n it_o be_v from_o a_o extraordinary_a gift_n as_o much_o as_o any_o miracle_n or_o immediate_a strange_a tongue_n inspire_v but_o a_o special_a gift_n it_o be_v so_o if_o it_o be_v ordinary_a to_o sing_v with_o the_o spirit_n and_o with_o understanding_n also_o but_o you_o can_v never_o prove_v these_o two_o to_o be_v extraordinary_a gift_n viz._n spirit_n and_o understanding_n inasmuch_o as_o understanding_n be_v the_o great_a without_o which_o the_o other_o be_v unfruitful_a the_o understanding_n be_v a_o ordinary_a gift_n in_o all_o and_o exhort_v to_o be_v observe_v which_o have_v not_o be_v and_o must_v direct_v every_o gift_n whatsoever_o in_o its_o use_n for_o edification_n wherefore_o as_o he_o that_o prophecy_v be_v great_a than_o he_o that_o speak_v with_o tongue_n 1_o cor._n 14.5_o and_o yet_o that_o prophecy_n be_v a_o ordinary_a gift_n and_o such_o as_o every_o member_n be_v to_o have_v less_o or_o more_o for_o they_o be_v all_o exhort_v to_o covet_v it_o and_o it_o be_v a_o continue_a gift_n in_o the_o church_n always_o a_o strange_a tongue_n without_o a_o interpreter_n be_v a_o mean_a gift_n than_o prophecy_n both_o for_o the_o church_n and_o in_o respect_n of_o our_o understanding_n for_o prophecy_n will_v help_v it_o aright_o but_o the_o understanding_n mu●●_n direct_v and_o guide_v a_o strange_a tongue_n or_o els●_n it_o become_v unprofitable_a thus_o be_v your_o first_o proposition_n render_v invalid_a your_o second_o proposition_n be_v impertinent_a viz._n 2_o that_o the_o gift_n of_o the_o holy_a spirit_n be_v not_o give_v alike_o to_o every_o peculiar_a member_n of_o the_o church_n of_o christ_n for_o public_a worship_n the_o very_a novice_n will_v have_v make_v a_o better_a who_o do_v ever_o affirm_v such_o a_o piece_n of_o ignoramus_n the_o holy_a spirit_n do_v never_o give_v gift_n alike_o to_o every_o apostle_n evangelist_n or_o elder_n nor_o it_o may_v be_v never_o will_v much_o less_o to_o every_o particular_a member_n though_o every_o particular_a one_o have_v not_o gift_n alike_o for_o public_a worship_n nor_o ever_o will_v in_o this_o world_n yet_o every_o particular_a member_n ought_v to_o have_v less_o or_o more_o of_o every_o gift_n and_o grace_n of_o the_o spirit_n ordinary_o or_o else_o there_o will_v be_v no_o communion_n between_o information_n and_o acceptation_n which_o every_o gift_n either_o tend_v to_o edify_v and_o build_v else_o he_o that_o speak_v be_v unfruitful_a if_o either_o experience_n do_v not_o speak_v to_o experience_n and_o spirit_n to_o spirit_n so_o that_o there_o be_v a_o likeness_n of_o gift_n between_o speaker_n and_o hearer_n or_o else_o he_o have_v not_o a_o ear_n to_o hear_v or_o the_o speaker_n but_o a_o imagination_n there_o be_v a_o likeness_n as_o to_o the_o nature_n of_o the_o gift_n in_o each_o in_o the_o quality_n though_o not_o in_o the_o quantity_n in_o all_o thing_n that_o tend_v 〈◊〉_d the_o
