demand_v of_o they_o a_o scripture-proof_n that_o there_o be_v such_o a_o place_n as_o purgatory_n they_o think_v they_o may_v as_o reasonable_o demand_v of_o we_o a_o scripture-proof_n that_o there_o be_v no_o such_o place_n as_o purgatory_n just_o with_o as_o much_o reason_n as_o if_o one_o shall_v tell_v i_o that_o by_o the_o law_n of_o england_n every_o man_n be_v bind_v to_o marry_v at_o twenty_o year_n old_a and_o when_o i_o desire_v he_o to_o show_v i_o the_o law_n which_o make_v this_o necessary_a he_o shall_v answer_v though_o he_o can_v show_v such_o a_o law_n yet_o it_o may_v etc._n etc._n be_v not_o teach_v in_o scripture_n and_o why_o be_v it_o not_o a_o sufficient_a reason_n of_o a_o non-assent_a or_o declare_v and_o profess_a denial_n of_o such_o doctrine_n that_o it_o faith_n and_o necessary_a to_o salvation_n but_o also_o that_o they_o be_v rather_o and_o plain_o repugnant_a to_o scripture_n this_o i_o confess_v do_v require_v a_o scripture-proof_n that_o a_o doctrine_n be_v not_o only_o not_o in_o the_o scripture_n
must_v grant_v so_o that_o still_o this_o whole_a controversy_n issue_v in_o this_o whether_o the_o term_n of_o their_o communion_n be_v not_o sinful_a if_o they_o be_v this_o will_v justify_v our_o corrupt_a worship_n unless_o the_o true_a faith_n and_o true_a worship_n can_v make_v man_n schismatic_n we_o may_v very_o secure_o scorn_v such_o a_o accusation_n and_o it_o be_v as_o impertinent_a a_o question_n to_o ask_v we_o what_o church_n we_o join_v in_o communion_n with_o when_o we_o forsake_v the_o communion_n of_o the_o church_n of_o rome_n for_o if_o by_o join_v in_o communion_n with_o other_o church_n they_o mean_v unite_n ourselves_o in_o one_o ecclesiastical_a body_n with_o they_o put_v ourselves_o under_o the_o government_n of_o any_o other_o patriarch_n so_o we_o join_v in_o communion_n with_o no_o other_o church_n and_o there_o be_v no_o reason_n we_o shall_v for_o we_o be_v original_o a_o free_a independent_a church_n which_o owe_v no_o subjection_n to_o any_o other_o church_n but_o have_v a_o plenary_a power_n to_o decide_v all_o controversy_n among_o ourselves_o without_o appeal_n to_o any_o foreign_a jurisdiction_n and_o when_o we_o have_v deliver_v ourselves_o from_o one_o usurper_n there_o be_v no_o reason_n to_o court_v a_o new_a one_o this_o not_o be_v necessary_a too_o catholic_n unity_n and_o communion_n if_o by_o join_v in_o communion_n any_o authority_n against_o the_o scripture_n and_o primitive_a practice_n and_o then_o they_o be_v not_o concern_v to_o inquire_v whether_o any_o other_o church_n do_v in_o all_o thing_n believe_v and_o practice_v as_o they_o teach_v but_o what_o the_o faith_n and_o practice_n of_o the_o apostle_n and_o their_o immediate_a successor_n be_v and_o yet_o they_o very_o well_o know_v that_o most_o of_o those_o doctrine_n and_o practice_n which_o they_o condemn_v in_o the_o church_n of_o rome_n be_v condemn_v by_o other_o church_n also_o though_o it_o may_v be_v those_o other_o church_n may_v have_v some_o less_o error_n and_o corruption_n of_o their_o own_o if_o the_o scripture_n and_o the_o example_n of_o the_o primitive_a church_n be_v a_o sufficient_a authority_n to_o justify_v a_o reformation_n than_o the_o church_n of_o england_n be_v blameless_a though_o no_o other_o church_n in_o the_o world_n follow_v this_o pattern_n but_o ourselves_o for_o this_o be_v the_o rule_n and_o pattern_n which_o they_o ought_v all_o to_o follow_v and_o if_o they_o do_v not_o it_o be_v not_o we_o be_v to_o blame_v but_o themselves_o and_o yet_o what_o if_o i_o shall_v say_v that_o our_o the_o rule_n of_o our_o reformation_n not_o to_o form_n and_o model_n a_o new_a church_n but_o only_o to_o purge_v the_o church_n from_o all_o new_a corruption_n and_o to_o leave_v the_o old_a of_o fact_n true_a you_o will_v say_v if_o it_o be_v notorious_o evident_a that_o the_o church_n have_v err_v there_o be_v a_o end_n of_o her_o infallibility_n but_o this_o be_v matter_n of_o dispute_n whether_o she_o have_v err_v or_o not_o and_o then_o if_o you_o can_v prove_v that_o she_o can_v err_v you_o effectual_o prove_v that_o she_o have_v not_o err_v no_o such_o matter_n for_o if_o she_o be_v charge_v with_o error_n and_o plain_a evidence_n bring_v that_o she_o have_v actual_o err_v unless_o you_o can_v as_o plain_o take_v off_o this_o evidence_n it_o weaken_v and_o overthrow_v all_o the_o proof_n for_o infallibility_n whatever_o they_o be_v and_o therefore_o the_o pretence_n of_o infallibility_n be_v of_o no_o use_n in_o this_o dispute_n but_o to_o cheat_v the_o that_o disprove_v their_o infallibility_n and_o then_o nothing_o else_o can_v prove_v it_o so_o that_o this_o infallibility_n can_v do_v they_o no_o service_n at_o all_o in_o this_o dispute_n whether_o they_o have_v err_v or_o not_o for_o if_o i_o can_v prove_v that_o they_o have_v err_v i_o overthrow_v all_o their_o proof_n of_o infallibility_n and_o whether_o they_o have_v err_v or_o not_o be_v not_o to_o be_v try_v by_o their_o infallibility_n but_o by_o the_o rule_n of_o truth_n and_o error_n which_o be_v the_o holy_a scripture_n so_o absurd_a it_o be_v to_o think_v to_o determine_v all_o the_o controversy_n now_o in_o dispute_n among_o we_o by_o the_o church_n infallibility_n it_o be_v indeed_o a_o most_o certain_a truth_n that_o if_o the_o church_n be_v infallible_a she_o can_v err_v and_o therefore_o she_o have_v not_o err_v and_o it_o be_v as_o certain_o true_a that_o if_o the_o church_n have_v err_v she_o can_v err_v and_o therefore_o be_v not_o infallible_a the_o romanist_n assert_v the_o first_o the_o protestant_n the_o second_v but_o there_o be_v this_o difference_n between_o these_o two_o plea_n that_o if_o we_o can_v make_v good_a our_o charge_n against_o they_o that_o they_o have_v actual_o err_v this_o be_v a_o direct_a and_o positive_a proof_n against_o their_o infallibility_n but_o though_o it_o be_v as_o certain_o true_a that_o a_o infallible_a church_n can_v and_o have_v not_o err_v yet_o whatever_o proof_n they_o bring_v of_o the_o church_n
but_o repugnant_a to_o it_o but_o then_o a_o plain_a and_o evident_a consequence_n from_o something_o else_o which_o be_v teach_v in_o scripture_n be_v all_o the_o proof_n which_o can_v be_v expect_v without_o a_o guide_n as_o mathematical_a demonstration_n be_v certain_o plain_a if_o any_o thing_n be_v plain_a though_o unskilful_a man_n can_v understand_v they_o without_o a_o master_n but_o that_o be_v clear_a and_o plain_a in_o itself_o which_o can_v be_v explain_v to_o every_o ordinary_a apprehension_n and_o such_o we_o assert_v the_o scripture_n to_o be_v in_o all_o necessary_n learned_a man_n can_v by_o their_o own_o study_n and_o inquiry_n understand_v the_o true_a sense_n of_o they_o and_o the_o unlearned_a can_v be_v teach_v to_o
