that_o the_o people_n eye_n shall_v be_v teach_v by_o the_o minister_n holiness_n of_o life_n as_o well_o as_o their_o ear_n by_o their_o soundness_n in_o doctrine_n and_o this_o be_v necessary_a for_o the_o minister_n himself_o and_o necessary_a for_o the_o people_n no_o marvel_v then_o that_o a_o faithful_a ministry_n be_v the_o butt_n of_o the_o devil_n malice_n of_o his_o craft_n and_o cruelty_n and_o that_o the_o devil_n have_v in_o all_o age_n attempt_v and_o endeavour_v utter_o to_o overthrow_v the_o ministry_n or_o to_o poison_n and_o fly-blow_n it_o shameful_o and_o this_o be_v the_o method_n whereby_o satan_n have_v endeavour_v to_o fly-blow_n the_o ministry_n why_o then_o see_v the_o folly_n and_o madness_n of_o those_o people_n who_o affect_v or_o cry_v up_o those_o minister_n who_o do_v not_o teach_v their_o people_n with_o sound_a doctrine_n or_o a_o holy_a life_n and_o whether_o there_o be_v no_o such_o minister_n which_o do_v not_o teach_v their_o people_n ear_n with_o soundness_n of_o doctrine_n or_o their_o eye_n with_o a_o holy_a life_n and_o whether_o there_o be_v not_o such_o a_o people_n as_o do_v cry_v up_o such_o minister_n and_o whether_o or_o no_o such_o people_n be_v not_o guilty_a of_o spiritual_a folly_n and_o madness_n judge_v you_o doct._n a_o minister_n soundness_n in_o doctrine_n and_o holiness_n of_o life_n and_o conversation_n do_v lay_v a_o very_a great_a obligation_n on_o a_o people_n to_o a_o due_a conscientious_a practice_n of_o every_o command_v duty_n the_o apostle_n we_o see_v make_v his_o preach_a and_o practise_v a_o argument_n to_o excite_v the_o phillippian_o to_o the_o forementioned_a command_v duty_n as_o in_o the_o text_n and_o the_o verse_n before_o the_o text._n as_o first_o of_o all_o the_o appellation_n and_o title_n give_v in_o scripture_n to_o such_o minister_n who_o doctrine_n be_v sound_a and_o who_o life_n and_o conversation_n be_v exemplary_a holy_a they_o be_v call_v 1._o the_o salt_n of_o the_o earth_n as_o math._n 5.13_o read_v that_o say_v christ_n to_o those_o great_a teacher_n of_o the_o gospel_n and_o dispenser_n of_o his_o oracle_n and_o in_o they_o to_o their_o savoury_a and_o season_v ministry_n this_o be_v woeful_a it_o be_v the_o nature_n of_o salt_n to_o cause_v barrenness_n where_o it_o season_v not_o therefore_o we_o read_v of_o abimelech_n in_o judge_n 9_o ver_fw-la 45._o that_o be_v sow_v the_o city_n with_o salt_n so_o that_o people_n who_o live_v under_o a_o sharp_a and_o savoury_a ministry_n and_o be_v not_o season_v therewith_o and_o preserve_v from_o putrefaction_n in_o their_o sin_n and_o corruption_n thereby_o their_o case_n be_v very_o dangerous_a they_o be_v call_v again_o the_o light_n of_o the_o world_n in_o mat._n 5.14_o the_o instrumental_a cause_n to_o build_v they_o up_o as_o much_o as_o if_o he_o have_v say_v i_o commend_v you_o to_o the_o grace_n of_o god_n which_o be_v able_a to_o build_v you_o up_o the_o apostle_n tell_v they_o that_o he_o leave_v they_o to_o such_o a_o god_n as_o through_o the_o gospel_n be_v sufficient_a to_o build_v they_o up_o till_o he_o bring_v they_o to_o the_o full_a
