yet_o you_o do_v not_o believe_v if_o yet_o you_o be_v not_o in_o christ_n if_o yet_o you_o be_v not_o godly_a this_o doctrine_n do_v here_o from_o the_o lord_n hold_v forth_o a_o invitation_n to_o you_o to_o come_v unto_o jesus_n christ_n for_o if_o a_o man_n be_v in_o christ_n and_o be_v godly_a than_o he_o have_v no_o reason_n to_o be_v discourage_v whatever_o his_o condition_n be_v if_o a_o man_n be_v not_o godly_a he_o have_v no_o reason_n to_o be_v encourage_v whatever_o his_o condition_n be_v on_o the_o one_o hand_n there_o lie_v all_o encouragement_n on_o the_o other_o hand_n there_o lie_v all_o discouragement_n now_o therefore_o in_o the_o name_n of_o the_o lord_n do_v i_o here_o this_o morning_n lay_v before_o this_o congregation_n life_n and_o death_n encouragement_n on_o the_o one_o hand_n and_o discouragement_n on_o the_o other_o hand_n and_o if_o there_o be_v a_o adulterer_n a_o swearer_n a_o lie_a child_n or_o a_o steal_v servant_n if_o there_o be_v ever_o a_o poor_a wanton_n a_o sabbath-breaker_n a_o opposer_n of_o god_n here_o i_o beseech_v you_o in_o the_o lord_n come_v unto_o jesus_n christ_n by_o all_o these_o encouragement_n that_o i_o have_v be_v speak_v of_o by_o all_o the_o mercy_n of_o the_o new_a covenant_n and_o by_o the_o salvation_n of_o thy_o own_o soul_n man_n or_o woman_n i_o beseech_v you_o come_v unto_o jesus_n christ_n o_o that_o man_n and_o woman_n will_v give_v no_o rest_n unto_o themselves_o till_o they_o have_v make_v their_o peace_n with_o god_n and_o till_o they_o have_v get_v into_o jesus_n christ_n and_o in_o case_n that_o you_o be_v in_o christ_n and_o that_o you_o do_v believe_v that_o you_o be_v godly_a and_o have_v make_v your_o peace_n with_o god_n then_o see_v that_o you_o walk_v up_o unto_o all_o these_o encouragement_n see_v that_o you_o walk_v in_o the_o comfort_n of_o the_o holy_a ghost_n o_o you_o that_o be_v godly_a if_o these_o thing_n be_v as_o you_o have_v hear_v why_o hang_v you_o down_o your_o head_n why_o be_v you_o cast_v down_o and_o disquiet_v why_o do_v you_o not_o walk_v in_o the_o comfort_n of_o this_o truth_n declare_v and_o in_o the_o strength_n of_o these_o encouragement_n you_o see_v what_o a_o venture_n we_o have_v run_v to_o speak_v comfort_n to_o you_o that_o want_v comfort_n you_o have_v hear_v in_o several_a exercise_n that_o a_o godly_a man_n have_v no_o reason_n for_o his_o discouragement_n whatever_o his_o condition_n be_v not_o in_o regard_n of_o sin_n not_o in_o regard_n of_o fail_n and_o successlessness_n in_o duty_n not_o in_o regard_n of_o want_n of_o assurance_n not_o in_o regard_n of_o temptation_n not_o in_o regard_n of_o affliction_n not_o in_o regard_n of_o desertion_n and_o now_o not_o in_o regard_n of_o his_o condition_n in_o itself_o consider_v now_o after_o all_o this_o i_o appeal_v to_o you_o you_o that_o be_v without_o comfort_n do_v you_o not_o think_v that_o there_o be_v some_o wicked_a man_n in_o this_o congregation_n that_o have_v presume_v when_o they_o have_v hear_v these_o thing_n preach_v and_o have_v say_v these_o thing_n belong_v to_o i_o and_o so_o have_v endanger_v their_o own_o soul_n by_o presumption_n comfort_v themselves_o when_o they_o shall_v not_o be_v comfort_v i_o appeal_v to_o you_o whether_o you_o do_v not_o think_v that_o there_o be_v some_o wicked_a man_n in_o the_o congregation_n that_o have_v thus_o endanger_v their_o soul_n by_o mis-application_n of_o these_o consolation_n and_o if_o so_o that_o there_o have_v be_v this_o hazard_n run_v and_o all_o to_o comfort_v you_o then_o will_v you_o now_o refuse_v this_o comfort_n o_o you_o that_o have_v refuse_v comfort_n all_o this_o while_n receive_v it_o in_o the_o lord_n and_o you_o that_o be_v never_o comfort_v before_o now_o comfort_v yourselves_o and_o walk_v in_o the_o comfort_n of_o the_o holy_a ghost_n and_o you_o that_o have_v go_v up_o and_o down_o fear_v tremble_a doubt_v and_o much_o discourage_v yet_o now_o at_o the_o last_o say_v why_o be_v thou_o cast_v down_o o_o my_o soul_n and_o why_o be_v thou_o disquiet_v within_o i_o hope_v in_o god_n wait_v on_o god_n trust_v in_o god_n for_o i_o shall_v yet_o praise_v he_o who_o be_v the_o health_n of_o my_o countenance_n and_o my_o god_n how_o you_o shall_v so_o hope_v and_o wait_v and_o trust_v in_o god_n as_o to_o bear_v up_o your_o heart_n against_o christ_n sermon_n xiii_o psalm_n 42.11_o why_o be_v thou_o cast_v down_o o_o my_o soul_n 1648._o stepney_n june_n 25._o 1648._o and_o why_o be_v thou_o disquiet_v within_o i_o hope_v in_o god_n or_o wait_v thou_o or_o trust_v thou_o in_o god_n you_o have_v hear_v of_o the_o saint_n discouragement_n and_o the_o unreasonableness_n of_o they_o there_o be_v no_o just_a cause_n or_o reason_n for_o their_o discouragement_n will_v you_o now_o hear_v of_o some_o mean_n against_o they_o the_o psalmist_n say_v in_o these_o word_n hope_v thou_o in_o god_n or_o trust_v thou_o in_o god_n or_o wait_v thou_o on_o god_n and_o so_o the_o doctrine_n plain_o be_v this_o doct._n faith_n be_v the_o help_n against_o all_o discouragement_n hope_v trust_v wait_v on_o god_n be_v the_o special_a if_o not_o the_o only_a mean_n appoint_v against_o all_o discouragement_n i_o have_v very_o faint_v unless_o i_o have_v believe_v say_v david_n to_o see_v the_o goodness_n of_o the_o lord_n in_o the_o land_n read_v in_o isa_n 26.3_o thou_o will_v keep_v he_o in_o perfect_a peace_n who_o mind_n be_v stay_v on_o thou_o because_o he_o trust_v in_o thou_o so_o the_o spouse_n in_o the_o canticle_n be_v find_v i_o say_v trust_v in_o the_o lord_n first_o before_o you_o do_v work_n at_o all_o answ_n 5_o five_o if_o you_o will_v trust_v in_o the_o lord_n so_o as_o you_o may_v not_o be_v discourage_v what_o ever_o your_o condition_n be_v then_o trust_v in_o the_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n in_o the_o first_o place_n before_o you_o trust_v in_o the_o promise_n christ_n blood_n be_v the_o great_a and_o first_o object_n of_o our_o faith_n in_o time_n of_o the_o old_a testament_n they_o come_v to_o christ_n by_o the_o promise_n because_o christ_n be_v not_o then_o come_v but_o promise_v now_o christ_n christ_n afterward_o then_o when_o he_o want_v a_o particular_a word_n or_o a_o promise_n he_o will_v not_o trust_v in_o christ_n but_o be_v quite_o discourage_v but_o when_o a_o man_n do_v trust_v in_o the_o lord_n christ_n first_o and_o in_o particular_a promise_n afterward_o then_o though_o a_o particular_a promise_n do_v not_o shine_v forth_o yet_o his_o faith_n live_v and_o he_o be_v not_o discourage_v wherefore_o venture_v upon_o jesus_n christ_n first_o and_o then_o upon_o the_o promise_n as_o give_v unto_o thou_o by_o the_o hand_n of_o christ_n answ_n 6_o six_o if_o you_o will_v so_o trust_v in_o the_o lord_n as_o you_o may_v not_o be_v discourage_v whaâ—â—â—er_v your_o condition_n be_v then_o if_o ever_o it_o please_v the_o lord_n to_o give_v our_o a_o promise_n to_o you_o in_o other_o but_o will_v not_o commend_v what_o be_v good_a this_o be_v not_o according_a unto_o christ_n proceed_v the_o commendation_n of_o good_a be_v a_o good_a introduction_n to_o the_o reprehension_n of_o what_o be_v evil_a now_o our_o saviour_n christ_n do_v commend_v this_o church_n both_o officer_n and_o people_n for_o many_o thing_n 1._o for_o their_o labour_n 2._o for_o their_o thing_n the_o discovery_n of_o those_o false_a teacher_n and_o the_o hatred_n of_o their_o deed_n the_o hatred_n of_o their_o deed_n you_o have_v at_o ver_fw-la 6._o this_o thou_o have_v that_o thou_o hate_v the_o deed_n of_o the_o nicolaitan_n the_o discovery_n of_o these_o false_a teacher_n you_o have_v in_o these_o word_n and_o thou_o have_v try_v they_o etc._n etc._n doct._n it_o be_v strange_a that_o there_o shall_v be_v false_a apostle_n in_o those_o day_n whilst_o some_o of_o the_o true_a apostle_n be_v alive_a to_o confute_v and_o discover_v they_o but_o it_o seem_v that_o the_o discovery_n of_o these_o false_a apostle_n be_v not_o a_o work_n only_o belong_v to_o the_o true_a apostle_n for_o this_o church_n of_o ephesus_n find_v they_o out_o and_o be_v commend_v for_o it_o by_o our_o saviour_n christ_n and_o so_o the_o doctrine_n from_o this_o part_n of_o the_o verse_n be_v that_o it_o be_v a_o matter_n of_o great_a commendation_n in_o the_o eye_n of_o jesus_n christ_n to_o try_v and_o discover_v false_a teacher_n or_o false_a apostle_n christ_n do_v not_o only_o commend_v this_o church_n for_o their_o zeal_n herein_o but_o have_v leave_v their_o commendation_n upon_o scriptural_a record_n as_o a_o good_a example_n for_o all_o the_o church_n of_o christ_n and_o therefore_o i_o say_v the_o discovery_n of_o false_a teacher_n and_o false_a apostle_n be_v still_o a_o matter_n of_o great_a commendation_n in_o the_o eye_n of_o christ_n it_o be_v that_o which_o we_o be_v all_o command_v to_o do_v 1_o john_n 4.1_o believe_v not_o every_o spirit_n but_o try_v the_o spirit_n whether_o they_o be_v of_o god_n because_o many_o false_a prophet_n be_v go_v into_o the_o world_n but_o for_o the_o clear_n of_o this_o truth_n it_o will_v appear_v if_o you_o consider_v arg._n 1_o first_o what_o a_o dangerous_a and_o mischievous_a people_n false_a teacher_n and_o false_a apostle_n be_v they_o do_v deceive_v man_n in_o the_o matter_n of_o their_o soul_n
