and_o precise_a rest_n must_v then_o be_v keep_v and_o that_o it_o shall_v be_v nothing_o else_o but_o a_o day_n of_o rest_n and_o though_o man_n may_v rest_v upon_o the_o other_o six_o day_n for_o thing_n be_v so_o particular_o and_o so_o often_o and_o in_o such_o express_a word_n urge_v and_o repeat_v that_o man_n shall_v then_o rest_v as_o exod._n 16._o 16.23_o exod._n 16.23_o when_o he_o will_v persuade_v the_o people_n to_o rest_v upon_o the_o seven_o day_n from_o gather_v and_o prepare_v manna_n he_o tell_v they_o
to_o morrow_n be_v the_o rest_n of_o the_o holy_a sabbath_n unto_o the_o lord_n where_o he_o be_v not_o content_v to_o say_v to_o morrow_n be_v the_o sabbath_n which_o be_v as_o much_o to_o they_o and_o be_v so_o know_v as_o the_o day_n of_o rest_n to_o we_o but_o he_o double_v the_o word_n and_o say_v it_o be_v the_o rest_n of_o the_o holy_a sabbath_n as_o though_o he_o have_v say_v it_o be_v rest_n may_v not_o be_v omit_v at_o all_o 31.15_o exod._n 31.15_o unto_o which_o agree_v that_o which_o be_v in_o the_o 31._o chapter_n where_o he_o do_v not_o only_o say_v that_o he_o that_o work_v about_o the_o tabernacle_n upon_o the_o seven_o day_n shall_v die_v the_o death_n but_o also_o add_v as_o it_o be_v give_v a_o reason_n of_o it_o the_o seven_o day_n be_v the_o the_o sabbath_n of_o the_o holy_a rest_n unto_o the_o lord_n where_o he_o both_o call_v it_o the_o sabbath_n day_n &_o as_o it_o be_v expound_v it_o the_o day_n of_o rest_n and_o though_o in_o the_o first_o tongue_n both_o the_o word_n be_v of_o one_o nature_n and_o signify_v one_o thing_n yet_o it_o have_v seem_v good_a to_o the_o interpreter_n thus_o to_o translate_v they_o that_o retain_v the_o proper_a name_n the_o day_n and_o what_o a_o principal_a regard_n the_o lord_n have_v unto_o that_o in_o this_o commandment_n which_o be_v of_o man_n lest_o of_o all_o consider_v and_o as_o moses_n in_o the_o mount_n have_v receive_v this_o from_o god_n in_o so_o plain_a word_n that_o notwithstanding_o all_o that_o be_v to_o be_v do_v the_o sabbath_n must_v be_v a_o day_n of_o rest_n so_o in_o exod._n 35.2_o he_o verse_n of_o the_o same_o chapter_n where_o the_o lord_n speak_v of_o the_o yearly_a feast_n which_o they_o shall_v keep_v begin_v with_o that_o which_o be_v the_o chief_a even_o the_o sabbath_n and_o command_v they_o first_o of_o all_o to_o rest_v upon_o it_o which_o be_v indeed_o the_o first_o thing_n require_v upon_o that_o day_n use_v thus_o many_o word_n six_o day_n shall_v work_v be_v do_v god_n judgement_n seat_n for_o that_o which_o we_o have_v hear_v and_o to_o deal_v with_o our_o own_o heart_n in_o good_a earnest_n for_o the_o do_v or_o not_o do_v of_o that_o which_o we_o have_v learn_v and_o cast_v off_o all_o the_o cloak_n of_o hypocrisy_n to_o lay_v our_o heart_n naked_a before_o god_n accuse_v ourselves_o where_o we_o come_v short_a of_o any_o thing_n pray_v unto_o he_o for_o his_o grace_n therein_o confess_v our_o sin_n that_o we_o have_v be_v rebuke_v of_o crave_v the_o forgiveness_n of_o they_o acknowledge_v his_o mercy_n where_o we_o have_v receive_v any_o thing_n entreat_v he_o for_o the_o continuance_n of_o it_o and_o so_o to_o depart_v away_o either_o more_o humble_v in_o ourselves_o to_o avoid_v sin_n more_o careful_o or_o comfort_v in_o the_o lord_n to_o go_v on_o forward_o in_o well_o do_v more_o courageous_o this_o i_o say_v as_o it_o do_v especial_o build_v we_o up_o in_o godliness_n so_o by_o due_a proof_n we_o shall_v find_v that_o without_o the_o especial_a assisstance_n of_o god_n holy_a spirit_n there_o be_v nothing_o more_o loathsome_a in_o the_o world_n and_o more_o tedious_a unto_o us._n and_o i_o be_o assure_v that_o it_o be_v a_o thing_n so_o
altogether_o abhor_v of_o the_o great_a part_n of_o the_o world_n that_o they_o will_v not_o so_o much_o as_o have_v a_o purpose_n once_o to_o meddle_v with_o it_o yea_o and_o many_o that_o do_v make_v a_o profession_n to_o serve_v god_n in_o the_o other_o part_n of_o his_o worship_n and_o that_o as_o we_o be_v to_o presume_v of_o they_o in_o a_o good_a measure_n of_o truth_n yet_o have_v a_o evil_a opinion_n of_o this_o and_o so_o bereave_v themselves_o of_o much_o profit_n for_o they_o purpose_v to_o pass_v away_o their_o time_n in_o as_o much_o mirth_n as_o may_v be_v and_o have_v determine_v to_o abandon_v all_o sorrow_n 7.9.10_o 2._o cor._n 7.9.10_o yea_o though_o some_o be_v godly_a and_o necessary_a as_o far_o from_o they_o as_o they_o can_v will_v not_o thus_o straight_o deal_v with_o themselves_o lest_o it_o shall_v make_v they_o melancholy_n as_o they_o say_v and_o drive_v they_o into_o their_o dump_n and_o leave_v happy_o at_o any_o time_n they_o may_v through_o god_n mercy_n towards_o they_o unwitting_o fall_v as_o it_o be_v into_o this_o meditation_n they_o will_v cut_v off_o all_o the_o mean_n that_o may_v procure_v it_o and_o therefore_o be_v in_o merry_a company_n as_o they_o call_v it_o continual_o that_o they_o may_v not_o so_o much_o as_o be_v alone_o at_o any_o time_n and_o if_o perhaps_o they_o be_v and_o so_o this_o overcreepe_v they_o the_o lord_n seek_v by_o all_o mean_v possible_a to_o do_v they_o good_a then_o fearful_o they_o hasten_v out_o of_o it_o as_o fast_o as_o may_v be_v and_o for_o that_o purpose_n some_o that_o be_v of_o great_a call_n be_v content_v to_o maintain_v at_o their_o charge_n one_o or_o other_o in_o their_o house_n that_o can_v best_o feed_v their_o humour_n to_o be_v merry_a companion_n or_o rather_o jester_n unto_o they_o to_o pull_v they_o away_o from_o this_o good_a though_o they_o will_v not_o be_v at_o half_a the_o cost_n yearly_a in_o make_v provision_n for_o some_o godly_a book_n and_o learned_a preacher_n when_o they_o have_v none_o of_o their_o own_o that_o may_v bring_v they_o to_o the_o best_a mirth_n and_o may_v show_v they_o wherein_o the_o great_a joy_n and_o sound_a comfort_n do_v consist_v even_o that_o that_o will_v endure_v with_o they_o when_o all_o other_o shall_v forsake_v they_o and_o most_o of_o all_o accuse_v they_o but_o that_o we_o may_v be_v persuade_v of_o the_o excellency_n of_o it_o meditation_n the_o great_a good_a that_o may_v redound_v unto_o we_o by_o godly_a meditation_n let_v we_o hear_v what_o the_o spirit_n of_o wisdom_n &_o judgement_n speak_v of_o it_o first_o of_o all_o the_o lord_n command_v joshua_n that_o unto_o the_o read_n of_o the_o law_n he_o will_v join_v meditation_n as_o a_o especial_a mean_n to_o keep_v he_o in_o the_o continual_a practice_n of_o it_o 1.8_o josh_n 1.8_o say_v let_v not_o this_o book_n of_o the_o law_n depart_v out_o of_o thy_o mouth_n but_o meditate_v therein_o day_n and_o night_n that_o thou_o may_v observe_v and_o do_v according_a to_o all_o that_o be_v write_v therein_o then_o the_o prophet_n david_n in_o the_o first_o psalm_n make_v it_o a_o especial_a token_n of_o a_o godly_a my_o meditation_n wherein_o he_o do_v assure_v we_o that_o if_o we_o will_v meditate_v upon_o those_o general_a rule_n which_o we_o have_v hear_v out_o of_o god_n word_n we_o shall_v many_o time_n see_v more_o clear_o into_o the_o truth_n of_o it_o than_o he_o that_o preach_v it_o at_o least_o wise_a more_o than_o he_o express_v unto_o we_o for_o by_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n we_o shall_v be_v teach_v to_o apply_v it_o must_v particular_o to_o ourselves_o than_o he_o do_v or_o can_v because_o we_o be_v most_o privy_a unto_o our_o own_o estate_n for_o as_o in_o all_o liberal_a art_n and_o science_n nothing_o can_v be_v teach_v so_o plain_o unto_o which_o the_o scholar_n by_o meditation_n reason_v about_o it_o shall_v not_o be_v able_a to_o add_v something_o and_o without_o the_o which_o the_o easy_a teach_n shall_v seem_v somewhat_o hard_o so_o be_v it_o in_o divinity_n that_o by_o god_n holy_a spirit_n use_v earnest_a and_o diligent_a meditation_n in_o the_o scripture_n we_o shall_v most_o easy_o perceive_v how_o to_o apply_v that_o to_o our_o own_o practice_n which_o have_v be_v public_o teach_v and_o none_o can_v teach_v we_o to_o have_v so_o many_o sundry_a use_n of_o it_o in_o our_o life_n and_o conversation_n as_o ourselves_o when_o we_o give_v ourselves_o to_o the_o profitable_a meditation_n of_o it_o without_o the_o which_o all_o that_o we_o read_v and_o hear_v be_v but_o in_o a_o general_a and_o confuse_a knowledge_n meditation_n how_o unprofitable_a man_n be_v to_o themselves_o and_o other_o for_o want_v of_o meditation_n we_o have_v little_a comfort_n or_o edification_n thereby_o especial_o see_v god_n blessing_n be_v upon_o his_o own_o ordinance_n and_o his_o curse_n be_v upon_o the_o neglect_n of_o the_o same_o this_o make_v great_a hearer_n and_o great_a reader_n to_o be_v unprofitable_a to_o themselves_o and_o other_o because_o for_o want_v of_o meditation_n they_o know_v not_o how_o to_o use_v their_o knowledge_n thereupon_o it_o come_v to_o pass_v that_o many_o preacher_n can_v say_v no_o more_o than_o they_o find_v in_o their_o book_n and_o therefore_o they_o toss_v over_o so_o many_o commentary_n as_o they_o do_v that_o they_o may_v have_v matter_n enough_o and_o so_o can_v go_v no_o further_o because_o without_o meditation_n all_o read_n be_v vain_a whereas_o it_o will_v minister_v abundant_a matter_n unto_o their_o former_a reading_n beside_o that_o they_o bring_v themselves_o into_o a_o bondage_n to_o believe_v that_o whatsoever_o their_o writer_n say_v because_o they_o do_v not_o meditate_v upon_o it_o and_o they_o hinder_v their_o memory_n because_o they_o trust_v all_o to_o their_o book_n so_o that_o if_o they_o have_v time_n sufficient_a and_o store_n of_o book_n they_o be_v able_a to_o speak_v with_o great_a admiration_n to_o the_o profit_n of_o the_o hearer_n and_o yet_o of_o the_o same_o matter_n can_v scarce_o speak_v to_o a_o private_a man_n upon_o the_o sudden_a tolerable_o to_o his_o ecdification_n and_o comfort_n because_o he_o have_v but_o speak_v it_o of_o the_o book_n as_o it_o be_v and_o not_o labour_v to_o make_v it_o his_o own_o by_o meditation_n and_o thereby_o to_o find_v out_o how_o he_o may_v apply_v it_o to_o his_o own_o use_n and_o the_o benefit_n of_o other_o and_o this_o thing_n be_v so_o much_o the_o more_o dangerous_a because_o it_o have_v infect_v also_o many_o of_o the_o best_a student_n in_o
the_o university_n hereupon_o it_o come_v to_o pass_v that_o many_o of_o the_o best_a people_n can_v say_v no_o more_o than_o they_o have_v hear_v and_o they_o will_v allege_v that_o thus_o they_o have_v be_v teach_v but_o how_o to_o use_v that_o they_o know_v not_o nay_o they_o forget_v a_o great_a deal_n of_o that_o which_o they_o have_v learn_v so_o then_o as_o it_o be_v in_o the_o common_a proverb_n not_o the_o great_a clerk_n be_v always_o the_o wise_a man_n nor_o they_o that_o have_v most_o knowledge_n be_v always_o fit_a to_o govern_v but_o they_o who_o labour_n to_o bring_v their_o knowledge_n into_o practice_n and_o apply_v it_o unto_o the_o time_n by_o compare_v thing_n pass_v with_o they_o that_o be_v present_a and_o foresee_v as_o much_o as_o they_o can_v what_o will_v follow_v afterward_o so_o not_o the_o great_a hearer_n and_o reader_n of_o the_o word_n be_v the_o godly_a man_n and_o like_a to_o do_v most_o good_a unto_o themselves_o and_o other_o but_o the_o great_a muser_n and_o meditatour_n thereupon_o and_o they_o be_v like_a to_o be_v so_o much_o the_o more_o profitable_a because_o that_o whereas_o read_v indeed_o do_v better_o our_o affection_n but_o most_o of_o all_o do_v increase_v our_o knowledge_n this_o so_o increase_v knowledge_n in_o we_o as_o that_o it_o especial_o breed_v good_a affection_n in_o we_o and_o quicken_v they_o up_o most_o effectual_o when_o they_o be_v begin_v before_o and_o we_o know_v that_o our_o affection_n be_v as_o it_o be_v the_o foot_n of_o our_o soul_n and_o do_v more_o carry_v we_o to_o every_o thing_n than_o our_o knowledge_n therefore_o see_v the_o profit_n of_o meditation_n be_v so_o great_a and_o the_o neglect_n of_o it_o bring_v so_o great_a loss_n it_o stand_v we_o in_o hand_n that_o so_o all_o the_o part_n of_o god_n public_a worship_n may_v be_v as_o profitable_a to_o we_o as_o they_o be_v in_o their_o own_o nature_n that_o we_o shall_v not_o only_o prepare_v ourselves_o to_o they_o before_o we_o come_v as_o we_o have_v see_v heretofore_o but_o also_o diligent_o meditate_v upon_o every_o thing_n do_v in_o the_o church_n afterward_o but_o i_o pray_v you_o let_v we_o consider_v of_o it_o a_o little_a further_o and_o so_o we_o shall_v soon_o and_o this_o matter_n let_v we_o presume_v the_o best_a reache_n that_o be_v have_v a_o scholar_n of_o a_o most_o excellent_a wit_n very_o apt_a to_o receive_v any_o thing_n that_o be_v teach_v yet_o if_o he_o do_v not_o use_v to_o meditate_v upon_o that_o which_o have_v be_v read_v unto_o he_o what_o great_a learning_n can_v he_o attain_v unto_o nay_o how_o little_a hope_n must_v there_o needs_o be_v of_o he_o how_o much_o more_o than_o must_v it_o of_o necessity_n be_v that_o we_o be_v so_o blind_a and_o dull_a of_o conceive_v in_o god_n worship_n as_o we_o be_v shall_v not_o be_v unprofitable_a partaker_n of_o every_o thing_n that_o be_v do_v most_o profitable_o in_o the_o church_n when_o we_o neglect_v meditation_n that_o be_v the_o chief_a thing_n to_o keep_v it_o and_o to_o bring_v it_o unto_o profit_n therefore_o we_o be_v sorry_a that_o in_o time_n past_a we_o have_v make_v the_o service_n of_o god_n upon_o the_o sabbath_n day_n so_o unprofitable_a to_o our_o own_o soul_n as_o we_o have_v do_v by_o neglect_v this_o part_n of_o god_n worship_n upon_o it_o which_o as_o it_o be_v most_o worthy_a in_o itself_o so_o will_v have_v bring_v great_a commodity_n to_o ourselves_o and_o let_v we_o purpose_v hereafter_o that_o we_o will_v not_o pass_v away_o the_o sabbath_n without_o godly_a meditation_n and_o that_o this_o shall_v be_v one_o thing_n wherein_o will_v spend_v the_o time_n that_o we_o have_v free_a from_o the_o public_a exercise_n in_o meditation_n of_o thing_n read_v and_o hear_v before_o and_o let_v we_o pray_v unto_o god_n for_o his_o holy_a spirit_n that_o we_o may_v perform_v our_o godly_a purpose_n the_o which_o that_o we_o may_v do_v every_o one_o of_o we_o to_o the_o great_a profit_n let_v though_o simple_a sort_n consider_v this_o meditate_v a_o example_n to_o teach_v the_o simple_a sort_n how_o to_o meditate_v for_o who_o sake_n i_o speak_v it_o which_o the_o learned_a to_o god_n that_o he_o may_v give_v it_o if_o it_o be_v a_o sin_n condemn_v if_o you_o find_v in_o yourself_o present_a or_o that_o it_o have_v be_v in_o time_n past_a then_o whether_o you_o have_v â—epeniâ—d_v you_o of_o it_o sufficient_o and_o pray_v to_o god_n for_o the_o forgiveness_n of_o it_o if_o not_o give_v thanks_n to_o god_n that_o have_v keep_v you_o from_o it_o and_o beware_v lest_o you_o fall_v into_o it_o hereafter_o see_v it_o be_v so_o dangerous_a if_o they_o be_v the_o promise_n of_o god_n that_o have_v be_v preach_v unto_o you_o then_o consider_v how_o you_o believe_v they_o and_o what_o comfort_n you_o take_v in_o they_o and_o labour_n to_o enjoy_v they_o if_o they_o be_v the_o threaten_n of_o god_n judgement_n look_v unto_o this_o what_o fear_n be_v wrought_v in_o you_o thereby_o &_o hatred_n of_o sin_n to_o annoy_v they_o even_o as_o the_o promise_n do_v bring_v forth_o a_o love_n unto_o godliness_n with_o a_o great_a many_o meditation_n more_o which_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n will_v teach_v we_o if_o we_o pray_v to_o he_o for_o it_o and_o be_v acquaint_v with_o this_o exercise_n all_o which_o for_o brevity_n fake_n i_o omit_v only_o these_o i_o have_v set_v down_o as_o a_o taste_n to_o lead_v we_o unto_o the_o rest_n and_o lest_o that_o any_o thing_n shall_v be_v leave_v for_o want_v of_o understanding_n even_o of_o the_o rude_a i_o have_v rather_o seem_v tedious_a &_o trouble_v some_o to_o the_o learned_a of_o who_o i_o be_o to_o crave_v pardon_n that_o i_o have_v be_v so_o long_o in_o this_o matter_n then_o obscure_a and_o unprofitable_a to_o the_o other_o for_o i_o my_o own_o self_n will_v not_o have_v think_v that_o the_o professor_n of_o the_o word_n lead_v so_o neglect_v this_o duty_n as_o they_o have_v and_o be_v so_o ignorant_a in_o it_o and_o therefore_o so_o unprofitable_a in_o all_o god_n service_n as_o i_o know_v many_o of_o they_o bo_o until_o i_o find_v it_o to_o be_v most_o true_a by_o that_o certain_a experience_n which_o i_o be_o sorry_a for_o therefore_o to_o conclude_v we_o may_v well_o perceive_v what_o great_a reason_n there_o be_v that_o we_o shall_v account_v this_o to_o be_v one_o of_o those_o private_a exercise_n whereby_o we_o shall_v sanctify_v the_o sabbath_n and_o keep_v it_o holy_a as_o we_o be_v command_v unto_o which_o we_o must_v adjoine_v as_o another_o part_n of_o god_n service_n another_o we_o ought_v private_o to_o confer_v and_o talk_v of_o god_n word_n one_o with_o another_o and_o a_o most_o excellent_a help_n of_o our_o infrimity_n the_o confer_v and_o talk_v with_o other_o of_o that_o which_o we_o have_v in_o the_o word_n read_v or_o hear_v especial_o see_v both_o it_o be_v commend_v unto_o we_o in_o the_o scripture_n and_o also_o by_o experience_n we_o shall_v find_v the_o profit_n of_o it_o to_o be_v so_o great_a to_o ourselves_o and_o other_o for_o first_o of_o all_o this_o be_v that_o which_o moses_n so_o earnest_o commend_v into_o the_o israelite_n before_o his_o death_n these_o word_n which_o i_o command_v this_o day_n 6.6_o deut._n 6.6_o shall_v be_v in_o thy_o heart_n 7._o and_o thou_o shall_v rehearse_v they_o continual_o unto_o note_v out_o the_o godly_a in_o his_o time_n by_o this_o mark_n that_o they_o confer_v one_o with_o another_o of_o the_o scripture_n which_o they_o have_v hear_v who_o he_o thus_o write_v 3.16_o malac._n 3.16_o then_o speak_v they_o that_o fear_v the_o lord_n every_o one_o to_o his_o neighbour_n etc._n etc._n where_o though_o it_o be_v not_o precise_o name_v of_o what_o they_o confer_v yet_o in_o the_o context_n and_o word_n of_o the_o prophet_n it_o be_v easy_o gather_v for_o whereas_o he_o prophesi_v of_o the_o preach_n of_o the_o gospel_n by_o john_n the_o baptist_n and_o our_o saviour_n christ_n wherein_o salvation_n be_v offer_v to_o the_o obedient_a and_o destruction_n threaten_v to_o the_o rebellious_a the_o prophet_n set_v down_o what_o be_v the_o fruit_n of_o this_o be_v contrary_a but_o especial_o for_o that_o which_o follow_v where_o it_o be_v say_v that_o the_o lord_n listen_v to_o their_o conference_n that_o be_v allow_v of_o it_o and_o promise_v to_o bless_v they_o for_o it_o vers_fw-la 16_o and_o the_o lord_n hearken_v and_o hear_v it_o and_o a_o book_n of_o remembrance_n be_v write_v before_o he_o for_o they_o that_o fear_v the_o lord_n and_o that_o think_v upon_o his_o name_n 17._o and_o they_o shall_v be_v to_o i_o say_v the_o lord_n of_o host_n in_o that_o day_n that_o i_o shall_v do_v this_o for_o a_o flock_n and_o i_o will_v spare_v they_o as_o a_o man_n spare_v his_o own_o son_n that_o serve_v he_o thus_o we_o may_v easy_o perceive_v that_o it_o be_v the_o duty_n of_o all_o the_o true_a worshipper_n of_o god_n to_o confer_v of_o his_o word_n which_o as_o they_o ought_v to_o do_v at_o other_o time_n so_o most_o of_o all_o day_n especial_o upon_o the_o lord_n day_n when_o they_o have_v late_o hear_v it_o and_o so_o thereby_o have_v some_o great_a occasion_n to_o do_v it_o and_o be_v thereby_o as_o it_o be_v the_o rather_o provoke_v unto_o it_o if_o they_o will_v not_o do_v it_o then_o it_o be_v to_o be_v fear_v that_o at_o other_o time_n they_o will_v more_o neglect_v it_o and_o if_o whensoever_o we_o hear_v the_o word_n we_o ought_v to_o talk_v of_o it_o unless_o we_o will_v lose_v a_o great_a part_n of_o the_o fruit_n of_o it_o them_z most_o of_o all_o upon_o the_o sabbath_n when_o we_o have_v the_o word_n after_o a_o especial_a manner_n and_o beside_o have_v cease_v to_o talk_v of_o other_o worldly_a matter_n that_o we_o may_v attend_v upon_o this_o the_o better_a and_o this_o be_v the_o chief_a cause_n why_o we_o shall_v leave_v talk_v of_o worldly_a matter_n that_o neither_o our_o mouth_n nor_o ear_n be_v fill_v with_o they_o we_o may_v have_v all_o the_o part_n of_o soul_n and_o body_n take_v up_o with_o the_o service_n of_o god_n even_o our_o mouth_n with_o speak_v of_o it_o &_o our_o ear_n with_o listen_v unto_o the_o word_n of_o god_n which_o as_o it_o be_v a_o thing_n of_o rare_a profit_n so_o it_o be_v small_o practise_v of_o man_n for_o how_o few_o shall_v you_o find_v that_o will_n upon_o the_o sabbath_n provoke_v themselves_o neglect_v which_o yet_o in_o great_o neglect_v and_o stir_v up_o other_o to_o speak_v of_o that_o which_o they_o have_v hear_v or_o that_o will_v either_o offer_v any_o occasion_n of_o such_o speech_n unto_o other_o or_o take_v it_o when_o it_o be_v offer_v by_o they_o nay_o we_o shall_v find_v that_o our_o nature_n be_v so_o whole_o corrupt_v in_o this_o thing_n that_o we_o have_v rather_o speak_v of_o and_o listen_v unto_o the_o thing_n of_o the_o world_n many_o hour_n then_o unto_o heavenly_a thing_n the_o least_o moment_n of_o time_n yea_o even_o upon_o the_o lord_n day_n in_o so_o much_o that_o some_o have_v tongue_n at_o will_n and_o word_n enough_o till_o their_o mouth_n run_v over_o and_o you_o shall_v never_o find_v they_o but_o they_o will_v have_v something_o to_o say_v so_o long_o as_o you_o talk_v not_o only_o of_o the_o lawful_a commodity_n and_o pleasure_n of_o this_o life_n but_o of_o vain_a and_o frivolous_a matter_n yea_o let_v any_o begin_v to_o speak_v of_o any_o part_n of_o god_n worship_n than_o they_o will_v either_o interrupt_v it_o by_o return_v to_o their_o old_a matter_n unless_o some_o be_v as_o constant_a in_o pursue_v of_o it_o as_o they_o will_v be_v obstinate_a in_o cross_v it_o or_o else_o they_o be_v sudden_o strike_v into_o their_o dump_n and_o have_v not_o a_o word_n to_o say_v 2._o therefore_o no_o man_n can_v say_v i_o will_v fain_o do_v it_o but_o i_o have_v none_o that_o will_v confer_v with_o i_o for_o he_o may_v find_v our_o some_o one_o or_o other_o that_o will_v join_v with_o he_o in_o it_o and_o if_o not_o in_o that_o manner_n that_o he_o desire_v yet_o let_v he_o begin_v and_o it_o may_v be_v that_o he_o may_v provoke_v some_o that_o be_v unwilling_a before_o and_o if_o not_o that_o if_o yet_o he_o shall_v find_v that_o the_o very_o utter_v of_o that_o which_o be_v teach_v before_o with_o his_o mouth_n unto_o other_o shall_v be_v a_o singular_a help_n to_o confirm_v himself_o in_o it_o neither_o let_v any_o be_v so_o untowarde_a question_n which_o they_o may_v do_v though_o they_o can_v say_v but_o i_o or_o no_o or_o ask_v a_o question_n as_o altogether_o to_o draw_v back_o because_o they_o can_v speak_v so_o fruitful_o of_o the_o word_n as_o they_o desire_v and_o it_o may_v be_v they_o see_v some_o other_o before_o they_o do_v for_o if_o they_o do_v but_o listen_v diligent_o unto_o that_o which_o be_v speak_v in_o a_o desire_n to_o learn_v and_o will_v but_o give_v their_o consent_n unto_o it_o and_o seem_v to_o like_v of_o it_o say_v i_o or_o no_o they_o shall_v draw_v on_o the_o speaker_n and_o so_o continue_v that_o conference_n which_o may_v be_v profitable_a to_o they_o both_o which_o i_o know_v by_o experience_n the_o lord_n have_v so_o bless_v in_o some_o that_o he_o have_v now_o reward_v their_o obedience_n in_o the_o kingdom_n of_o heaven_n and_o we_o must_v remember_v that_o the_o communion_n of_o saint_n consist_v as_o well_o in_o receive_v as_o give_v even_o in_o receive_v good_a from_o other_o as_o well_o as_o in_o do_v it_o unto_o they_o and_o therefore_o as_o we_o must_v always_o carry_v about_o with_o we_o these_o mind_n that_o our_o desire_n be_v to_o further_o ourselves_o or_o other_o in_o godliness_n so_o we_o may_v be_v assure_v we_o have_v spend_v the_o time_n well_o when_o we_o have_v attain_a unto_o either_o of_o both_o for_o as_o a_o prophet_n must_v go_v in_o the_o name_n of_o a_o prophet_n to_o do_v the_o duty_n of_o a_o prophet_n 10.41_o math._n 10.41_o so_o the_o people_n that_o receive_v he_o in_o the_o name_n of_o a_o prophet_n that_o be_v to_o hear_v his_o doctrine_n to_o be_v make_v partaker_n of_o his_o prayer_n and_o to_o profit_n by_o both_o shall_v not_o lose_v their_o reward_n for_o this_o cause_n the_o apostle_n write_v to_o the_o roman_n say_v 1.11_o rom._n 1.11_o he_o be_v desirous_a to_o come_v among_o they_o for_o the_o common_a good_a of_o both_o say_v for_o i_o long_o to_o see_v you_o that_o i_o may_v bestow_v among_o you_o some_o spiritual_a gift_n to_o strengthen_v you_o 11._o that_o be_v that_o i_o may_v he_o comfort_v together_o with_o you_o through_o our_o mutual_a faith_n both_o you_o and_o i_o thus_o we_o have_v see_v how_o we_o ought_v to_o meditate_v and_o confer_v about_o the_o scripture_n but_o we_o must_v further_o know_v that_o though_o our_o meditation_n and_o conference_n must_v always_o be_v keep_v within_o the_o compass_n of_o the_o word_n lest_o they_o be_v wander_v and_o so_o not_o only_o frivolous_a and_o vain_a but_o wicked_a and_o ungodly_a yet_o they_o be_v not_o so_o tie_v unto_o that_o but_o we_o both_o may_v and_o ought_v fruitful_o to_o meditate_v upon_o and_o sober_o to_o confer_v about_o the_o work_n of_o god_n that_o so_o we_o may_v be_v teach_v not_o only_o by_o the_o word_n but_o also_o by_o experience_n see_v that_o the_o invisible_a thing_n of_o god_n be_v see_v by_o the_o creation_n and_o government_n of_o the_o world_n 1.20_o rom._n 1.20_o be_v consider_v in_o his_o work_n us._n we_o ought_v to_o meditate_v upon_o and_o confer_v about_o the_o work_n of_o god_n by_o which_o he_o manife_v himself_o unto_o us._n which_o without_o the_o word_n i_o confess_v be_v so_o little_a because_o of_o our_o blindness_n that_o it_o do_v but_o leave_v we_o without_o excuse_n as_o the_o apostle_n say_v in_o the_o same_o verse_n yet_o be_v holpen_v by_o the_o benefit_n of_o the_o word_n as_o the_o dim_a sight_n of_o a_o old_a man_n be_v holpen_v by_o the_o benefit_n of_o a_o pair_n of_o spectacle_n we_o be_v guide_v aright_o and_o see_v more_o clear_o into_o every_o thing_n thereby_o especial_o when_o we_o be_v govern_v by_o god_n spirit_n herein_o for_o than_o we_o shall_v perceive_v the_o infinite_a wisdom_n of_o god_n his_o great_a mercy_n and_o power_n his_o justice_n and_o truth_n etc._n etc._n which_o be_v so_o plentiful_o speak_v of_o in_o the_o scripture_n not_o only_o by_o his_o judgement_n upon_o the_o wicked_a and_o his_o benefit_n bestow_v upon_o his_o child_n in_o our_o own_o time_n and_o in_o the_o day_n of_o our_o forefather_n but_o also_o in_o all_o other_o the_o dumb_a and_o insensible_a creature_n even_o in_o the_o day_n and_o in_o the_o night_n winter_n and_o summer_n heat_n and_o cold_a etc._n etc._n whereby_o he_o do_v exercise_v his_o judgement_n upon_o the_o one_o or_o he_o bring_v his_o blessing_n upon_o the_o other_o even_o as_o the_o same_o apostle_n testify_v unto_o the_o man_n of_o lystra_n say_v that_o god_n which_o make_v heaven_n and_o earth_n the_o sea_n 14.15_o acts._n 14.15_o and_o all_o thing_n that_o in_o they_o be_v in_o time_n past_o suffer_v all_o the_o gentile_n to_o walk_v in_o their_o own_o way_n nevertheless_o he_o leave_v not_o himself_o without_o witness_n in_o that_o he_o do_v good_a and_o give_v they_o rain_n from_o heaven_n and_o fruitful_a season_n fill_v their_o heart_n with_o food_n
