crucify_v through_o weakness_n yet_o he_o live_v by_o the_o power_n of_o god_n for_o we_o also_o be_v weak_a in_o he_o but_o we_o shall_v also_o live_v with_o he_o by_o the_o power_n of_o god_n so_o that_o as_o it_o be_v with_o christ_n in_o his_o estate_n so_o it_o be_v with_o we_o in_o our_o estate_n weak_a in_o he_o meaning_n that_o as_o christ_n in_o his_o outward_a man_n seem_v to_o be_v weak_a and_o contemptible_a so_o we_o as_o it_o be_v in_o the_o original_a be_v weak_a with_o he_o but_o we_o shall_v live_v with_o he_o by_o the_o power_n of_o god_n so_o that_o suppose_v christ_n be_v indeed_o weak_a in_o outward_a view_n so_o as_o he_o that_o look_v once_o will_v not_o look_v twice_o at_o he_o yet_o when_o he_o seem_v to_o be_v most_o weak_a and_o base_a then_o be_v he_o most_o powerful_a and_o glorious_a and_o so_o the_o very_a death_n of_o christ_n wherein_o he_o be_v most_o expose_v to_o such_o infirmity_n as_o follow_v man_n nature_n yet_o than_o he_o perform_v the_o great_a work_n of_o our_o redemption_n satisfy_v the_o father_n wrath_n for_o we_o procure_v we_o pardon_v of_o sin_n and_o redeem_v we_o from_o the_o bondage_n of_o hell_n and_o purchase_n for_o we_o a_o spirit_n of_o grace_n and_o power_n and_o true_o there_o be_v a_o certain_a kind_n of_o conformity_n even_o in_o this_o very_a point_n between_o the_o lord_n jesus_n and_o every_o servant_n of_o christ_n as_o he_o be_v weak_a so_o be_v we_o as_o he_o die_v so_o do_v we_o as_o he_o be_v in_o his_o great_a debasement_n and_o advancement_n so_o it_o be_v with_o we_o and_o hence_o it_o be_v that_o you_o read_v these_o phrase_n in_o scripture_n we_o be_v dead_a with_o christ_n col._n 2.20_o and_o rise_v with_o christ_n col._n 3.1_o and_o crucify_v with_o christ_n rom._n 6.6_o now_o these_o be_v strange_a phrase_n that_o christ_n who_o be_v dead_a one_o thousand_o six_o hundred_o year_n ago_o and_o rise_v again_o so_o long_o since_o what_o be_v this_o which_o the_o the_o word_n be_v powerful_o apply_v to_o the_o soul_n for_o the_o further_a open_v of_o this_o point_n you_o shall_v see_v it_o in_o some_o thing_n principal_o which_o be_v ever_o find_v in_o some_o measure_n in_o the_o spirit_n of_o christian_a man_n that_o have_v any_o life_n in_o christ_n first_o that_o which_o be_v wonderful_a and_o be_v indeed_o no_o where_n find_v but_o in_o they_o their_o very_a knowledge_n be_v warm_a warm_a knowledge_n warm_a which_o in_o all_o other_o man_n be_v cold_a knowledge_n be_v but_o a_o empty_a speculation_n bring_v forth_o no_o great_a matter_n of_o heat_n but_o in_o a_o christian_a his_o knowledge_n be_v full_a of_o heat_n zeal_n must_v be_v according_a to_o knowledge_n knowledge_n be_v no_o knowledge_n without_o zeal_n and_o zeal_n be_v but_o a_o they_o be_v very_o cold_a heart_a and_o dull_a spirit_v and_o go_v on_o their_o way_n with_o much_o darkness_n of_o soul_n without_o life_n and_o strength_n of_o soul_n until_o he_o come_v to_o put_v life_n into_o their_o spirit_n answ_n it_o be_v true_a many_o time_n god_n servant_n be_v very_o cold_a and_o benumb_v and_o a_o cold_a spirit_n grow_v upon_o they_o exceed_o so_o as_o that_o they_o scarce_o feel_v any_o life_n breathe_v in_o their_o knowledge_n or_o prayer_n or_o appetite_n to_o the_o word_n or_o love_n to_o their_o brethren_n little_a warmth_n in_o any_o of_o these_o partly_o through_o want_n of_o supply_v the_o life_n of_o god_n grace_n with_o fit_a nourishment_n whereby_o the_o heart_n shall_v grow_v warm_a as_o natural_a fire_n if_o it_o be_v not_o supply_v with_o new_a well_o warm_v with_o some_o good_a sermon_n or_o a_o good_a prayer_n or_o conference_n or_o the_o like_a they_o think_v this_o fire_n will_v never_o go_v out_o and_o so_o they_o begin_v to_o neglect_v it_o and_o so_o either_o the_o fire_n go_v quit_v out_o or_o else_o be_v so_o damp_a as_o that_o you_o can_v discern_v no_o life_n no_o savour_n or_o power_n of_o religion_n there_o and_o therefore_o such_o a_o thing_n may_v befall_v god_n servant_n they_o may_v grow_v dull_a heart_a one_o way_n or_o other_o as_o you_o have_v hear_v but_o yet_o thus_o much_o let_v i_o say_v though_o this_o be_v a_o presumption_n of_o faith_n but_o be_v no_o faith_n yea_o it_o be_v the_o badge_n of_o the_o want_n of_o faith_n when_o therefore_o you_o see_v the_o apostle_n write_v to_o they_o that_o believe_v that_o they_o may_v believe_v more_o certain_o and_o more_o strong_o that_o be_v a_o true_a faith_n and_o it_o will_v grow_v use_v 2_o it_o serve_v to_o reprove_v the_o most_o sacrilegious_a and_o uncharitable_a faith_n of_o the_o papist_n that_o take_v away_o these_o writing_n from_o the_o people_n john_n write_v this_o epistle_n to_o the_o intent_n that_o believer_n may_v believe_v and_o injurious_a to_o the_o faith_n of_o god_n people_n a_o evident_a argument_n of_o infidelity_n how_o can_v you_o charge_v the_o wisdom_n of_o god_n of_o more_o folly_n and_o lightness_n god_n send_v his_o word_n to_o his_o servant_n that_o they_o may_v be_v read_v and_o hear_v and_o confer_v of_o it_o and_o that_o by_o believe_v they_o may_v believe_v these_o man_n to_o cast_v a_o imputation_n of_o folly_n upon_o god_n they_o be_v afraid_a that_o god_n do_v not_o consider_v the_o danger_n of_o it_o if_o believer_n shall_v fall_v a_o read_n and_o poor_a tradesman_n a_o confer_v about_o the_o scripture_n they_o be_v afay_v they_o will_v be_v distemper_v with_o heresy_n and_o so_o trouble_v the_o whole_a church_n do_v not_o they_o by_o so_o do_v set_v the_o wisdom_n of_o god_n not_o you_o that_o have_v be_v diligent_a in_o hear_v and_o read_v the_o word_n be_v diligent_a in_o it_o still_o and_o make_v it_o a_o point_n of_o your_o christian_a practice_n not_o to_o fail_v to_o read_v some_o part_n of_o it_o every_o day_n unless_o you_o be_v necessary_o hinder_v or_o if_o you_o have_v be_v necessary_o hinder_v by_o business_n from_o read_v yet_o be_v sure_a nothing_o
