and_o which_o have_v breed_v most_o trouble_n be_v in_o compare_v the_o case_n of_o scandal_n and_o disobedience_n together_o when_o there_o seem_v to_o be_v a_o repugnancy_n between_o charity_n and_o duty_n as_o for_o example_n suppose_v in_o a_o thing_n which_o simple_o and_o in_o itself_o we_o may_v lawful_o according_a to_o the_o liberty_n we_o have_v in_o christ_n either_o use_n or_o forbear_v charity_n seem_v to_o lay_v restraint_n upon_o we_o one_o way_n our_o weak_a brother_n expect_v we_o shall_v forbear_v and_o duty_n a_o quite_o contrary_a way_n authority_n require_v the_o use_n in_o such_o a_o case_n what_o be_v we_o to_o do_v it_o be_v against_o charity_n to_o offend_v a_o brother_n and_o it_o be_v against_o duty_n to_o disobey_v a_o superior_a and_o yet_o something_o must_v be_v do_v either_o we_o must_v use_v or_o not_o use_v forbear_v or_o not_o forbear_v for_o the_o untie_n of_o this_o knot_n which_o if_o we_o will_v but_o lay_v thing_n right_o together_o have_v not_o in_o it_o so_o much_o hardness_n as_o it_o seem_v to_o have_v let_v this_o be_v our_o seven_o position_n in_o the_o use_n of_o the_o creature_n and_o all_o indifferent_a thing_n we_o ought_v to_o bear_v a_o great_a regard_n to_o our_o public_a governor_n than_o to_o our_o private_a brethren_n and_o be_v more_o careful_a to_o obey_v they_o than_o to_o satisfy_v these_o if_o the_o same_o course_n will_v not_o in_o some_o mediocrity_n satisfy_v both_o alas_o that_o our_o brethren_n who_o be_v contrary_a mind_v will_v but_o with_o the_o spirit_n of_o sobriety_n admit_v common_a reason_n to_o be_v umpire_n in_o this_o case_n alas_o that_o they_o will_v but_o consider_v what_o a_o world_n of_o contradiction_n will_v follow_v upon_o the_o contrary_a opinion_n and_o what_o a_o world_n of_o confusion_n upon_o the_o contrary_a practice_n say_v what_o can_v be_v say_v in_o the_o behalf_n of_o a_o brother_n all_o the_o same_o and_o more_o may_v be_v say_v for_o a_o governor_n for_o a_o governor_n be_v a_o brother_n too_o and_o something_o more_o and_o duty_n be_v charity_n too_o and_o something_o more_o if_o then_o i_o may_v not_o offend_v my_o brother_n then_o certain_o not_o my_o governor_n because_o he_o be_v my_o brother_n too_o be_v a_o man_n and_o a_o christian_n as_o well_o as_o the_o other_o be_v and_o the_o same_o charity_n that_o bind_v i_o to_o satisfy_v another_o brother_n equal_o bind_v i_o to_o satisfy_v this_o so_o that_o if_o we_o go_v no_o far_o but_o even_o to_o the_o common_a bond_n of_o charity_n and_o relation_n of_o brotherhood_n that_o make_v they_o equal_a at_o the_o least_o and_o therefore_o no_o reason_n why_o i_o shall_v satisfy_v one_o that_o be_v but_o a_o private_a brother_n rather_o than_o the_o public_a magistrate_n who_o that_o public_a respect_n set_v aside_o be_v my_o brother_n also_o when_o the_o scale_n hang_v thus_o even_o shall_v not_o the_o accession_n of_o magistracy_n to_o common_a brotherhood_n in_o he_o and_o of_o duty_n to_o common_a charity_n in_o i_o be_v enough_o to_o cast_v it_o clear_a for_o the_o magistrate_n shall_v a_o servant_n in_o a_o family_n rather_o than_o offend_v his_o fellow-servant_n disobey_v his_o master_n and_o be_v not_o a_o double_a scandal_n against_o charity_n and_o duty_n both_o for_o duty_n imply_v charity_n great_a than_o a_o single_a scandal_n against_o charity_n alone_o if_o private_a man_n will_v be_v offend_v at_o our_o obedience_n to_o public_a govornour_n we_o can_v but_o be_v sorry_a for_o it_o we_o may_v not_o redeem_v their_o offence_n by_o our_o disobedience_n he_o that_o take_v offence_n where_o none_o be_v give_v sustain_v a_o double_a person_n and_o must_v answer_v for_o it_o both_o as_o the_o giver_n and_o the_o taker_n if_o offence_n be_v take_v at_o we_o there_o be_v no_o woe_n to_o we_o for_o it_o if_o it_o do_v not_o come_v by_o we_o woe_n to_o the_o man_n by_o who_o the_o offence_n come_v and_o it_o do_v not_o come_v by_o we_o if_o we_o do_v but_o what_o
