with_o those_o who_o be_v spiritual_o sick_a with_o sin_n repentance_n be_v that_o physic_n which_o god_n have_v appoint_v for_o the_o heal_n of_o they_o and_o cure_v of_o their_o soul_n which_o potion_n sinful_a man_n refuse_v to_o take_v the_o cause_n be_v as_o i_o have_v show_v partly_o in_o the_o judgement_n and_o partly_o in_o the_o affection_n impediment_n 1_o in_o the_o judgement_n there_o be_v four_o impediment_n of_o repentance_n first_o because_o man_n do_v not_o know_v or_o find_v themselves_o to_o be_v sick_a of_o sin_n nor_o will_v have_v other_o to_o think_v they_o sick_a they_o presume_v therefore_o that_o all_o be_v well_o with_o they_o for_o they_o know_v neither_o disease_n nor_o infirmity_n and_o so_o because_o they_o live_v as_o other_o live_v and_o do_v as_o other_o do_v they_o think_v repentance_n needless_a and_o feel_v no_o sick_a esse_fw-la they_o never_o think_v of_o physic_n this_o kind_n of_o deceit_n be_v reprove_v job_n 15._o 31._o let_v not_o he_o that_o be_v deceive_v 31._o trust_n in_o vanity_n for_o vanity_n shall_v be_v his_o recompense_n so_o we_o see_v mal._n 3._o 7._o when_o god_n bid_v the_o people_n return_v 7._o from_o their_o sin_n unto_o he_o they_o answer_v stubborn_o wherein_o shall_v we_o return_v so_o do_v the_o wicked_a man_n of_o this_o world_n answer_n god_n wherein_o have_v we_o offend_v wherefore_o shall_v i_o repent_v this_o be_v the_o first_o impediment_n in_o judgement_n when_o man_n do_v not_o find_v themselves_o sick_a in_o sin_n impediment_n 2_o the_o second_o be_v when_o man_n know_v themselves_o to_o be_v sick_a of_o sin_n but_o do_v not_o think_v their_o sin_n to_o be_v deadly_a they_o think_v indeed_o they_o have_v some_o frailty_n some_o imperfection_n some_o petty_a sin_n some_o small_a sin_n but_o in_o accuse_v themselves_o they_o can_v say_v as_o the_o pharisee_n luke_n 18._o i_o thank_v god_n i_o be_o no_o adulterer_n extortioner_n etc._n etc._n and_o so_o they_o think_v themselves_o in_o no_o danger_n as_o a_o man_n that_o in_o the_o eagerness_n of_o fight_v receve_v a_o small_a wound_n fight_v with_o a_o sword_n and_o never_o look_v after_o it_o or_o think_v it_o worth_a the_o cure_n so_o man_n in_o the_o affair_n of_o the_o world_n add_v sin_n to_o sin_n never_o look_v after_o they_o as_o need_v repentance_n because_o they_o suppose_v they_o slight_a and_o small_a etc._n etc._n impediment_n 3_o the_o three_o impediment_n be_v that_o though_o they_o take_v themselves_o to_o be_v sinner_n and_o their_o sin_n to_o be_v deadly_a yet_o they_o think_v that_o god_n be_v merciful_a a_o grateous_a god_n and_o they_o may_v be_v save_v without_o repentance_n but_o deut._n 29._o the_o lord_n 29._o thunder_v against_o such_o and_o plain_o assure_v such_o presumptuous_a person_n that_o his_o wrath_n shall_v smoke_v against_o such_o and_o he_o will_v not_o be_v merciful_a unto_o they_o but_o all_o the_o curse_n write_v in_o that_o book_n shall_v come_v upon_o they_o yea_o this_o be_v that_o which_o john_n baptist_n exprobrate_v the_o jew_n for_o math._n 3._o 9_o and_o think_v not_o to_o say_v with_o yourselves_o 9_o we_o have_v abraham_n for_o our_o one_o he_o do_v not_o think_v so_o strict_a a_o one_o needful_a as_o be_v prescribe_v so_o saul_n think_v repentance_n needful_a when_o samuel_n come_v and_o tell_v he_o what_o he_o have_v do_v yet_o say_v 24._o he_o honour_v i_o before_o the_o people_n he_o care_v not_o whether_o he_o have_v any_o honour_n before_o god_n or_o not_o so_o the_o people_n may_v honour_v he_o these_o be_v the_o four_o impediment_n in_o the_o judgement_n which_o hinder_v and_o keep_v back_o repentance_n either_o that_o we_o do_v not_o find_v ourselves_o to_o be_v sinner_n or_o though_o we_o be_v sinner_n yet_o not_o so_o great_a sinner_n to_o require_v repentance_n or_o though_o we_o be_v sinner_n yet_o god_n be_v merciful_a and_o can_v save_v we_o without_o our_o repentance_n or_o though_o we_o must_v repent_v yet_o that_o there_o be_v no_o need_n of_o so_o strict_a a_o repentance_n now_o as_o there_o be_v these_o impediment_n in_o the_o judgement_n so_o there_o be_v also_o in_o the_o affection_n diverse_a let_n for_o although_o a_o man_n find_v himself_o to_o be_v a_o sinner_n against_o god_n and_o his_o own_o conscience_n and_o that_o there_o be_v no_o way_n of_o reconciliation_n to_o come_v out_o of_o his_o sin_n but_o by_o repentance_n yet_o he_o still_o find_v impediment_n in_o his_o affection_n to_o detain_v and_o hold_v he_o from_o this_o so_o necessary_a duty_n the_o impediment_n in_o the_o affection_n impediment_n in_o the_o affection_n 1_o affection_n be_v first_o the_o love_n of_o the_o world_n when_o man_n be_v so_o carry_v away_o with_o the_o love_n thereof_o that_o they_o can_v attend_v unto_o repentance_n so_o take_v up_o with_o the_o care_n of_o life_n and_o the_o hope_n of_o pleasure_n prosite_a preferment_n and_o such_o like_a that_o they_o can_v neither_o come_v to_o this_o account_n &_o reckon_n of_o the_o soul_n with_o repentance_n nor_o dare_v adventure_n upon_o it_o for_o fear_v of_o lose_v the_o benefit_n of_o a_o present_a life_n such_o be_v the_o case_n of_o those_o who_o be_v invite_v to_o christ_n banquet_n math._n 22._o 5._o such_o also_o be_v our_o case_n we_o be_v all_o so_o intentive_a 5._o to_o these_o worldly_a affair_n our_o farm_n our_o wife_n our_o ox_n etc._n etc._n that_o we_o can_v come_v unto_o repentance_n which_o be_v the_o banquet_n of_o our_o soul_n to_o attain_v salvation_n impediment_n 2_o the_o next_o be_v the_o love_n of_o our_o pleasure_n that_o be_v man_n 15._o can_v abide_v the_o sober_a and_o sad_a thing_n that_o belong_v to_o repentance_n they_o must_v be_v merry_a they_o must_v have_v their_o delight_n pastime_n and_o device_n as_o isaiah_n 22._o 13._o the_o lord_n 13._o complain_v that_o when_o he_o call_v to_o sorrow_n and_o mourning_n behold_v joy_n and_o gladness_n kill_v of_o ox_n eat_v of_o flesh_n and_o drink_v of_o wine_n thus_o pleasure_n be_v great_a a_o let_v impediment_n 3_o the_o three_o be_v the_o love_n of_o our_o own_o ease_n for_o man_n can_v endure_v to_o take_v any_o pain_n in_o prayer_n holy_a duty_n thing_n appertain_v to_o the_o save_n of_o their_o soul_n they_o have_v rather_o lie_v warm_a in_o their_o soft_a bed_n then_o rise_v to_o religious_a exercise_n then_o go_v to_o heaven_n in_o elias_n fiery_a chariot_n it_o be_v say_v math._n 2._o that_o when_o christ_n be_v bear_v all_o israel_n 2._o be_v trouble_v and_o why_o they_o think_v christ_n can_v not_o a_o place_n as_o they_o can_v have_v be_v content_v to_o have_v enjoy_v it_o but_o because_o it_o ask_v of_o they_o so_o much_o pain_n trouble_n and_o in_o their_o sight_n hazard_v to_o go_v to_o it_o
