scorn_n and_o cruelty_n when_o the_o body_n of_o saint_n be_v in_o the_o grave_n worldling_n must_v seek_v some_o other_o object_n for_o their_o slander_n scorn_n or_o cruelty_n they_o will_v find_v no_o sap_n or_o moisture_n in_o the_o dust_n of_o saint_n to_o feed_v these_o lust_n withal_o the_o derision_n and_o persecution_n of_o god_n dear_a saint_n on_o earth_n be_v the_o pastime_n and_o practice_n of_o sin_v soul_n like_o the_o fly_n that_o sport_v itself_o about_o the_o candle_n till_o she_o have_v burn_v her_o wing_n but_o god_n have_v his_o time_n to_o ease_v his_o people_n of_o this_o burden_n and_o if_o not_o before_o yet_o certain_o and_o full_o when_o death_n come_v be_v this_o work_n effect_v saint_n whilst_o they_o live_v in_o the_o body_n be_v with_o their_o spirit_n above_o the_o world_n scorn_n and_o cruelty_n but_o when_o death_n come_v than_o the_o body_n get_v beyond_o they_o too_o so_o that_o here_o be_v another_o benefit_n in_o death_n it_o free_v they_o from_o the_o scorn_v of_o fool_n and_o the_o cruelty_n of_o cruel_a man_n the_o wicked_a worldling_n count_v a_o saint_n to_o be_v the_o only_a troubler_n of_o the_o people_n and_o place_n wherein_o he_o live_v but_o when_o death_n come_v to_o a_o saint_n he_o be_v very_o willing_a to_o leave_v the_o world_n their_o portion_n and_o their_o elbowroom_n he_o be_v not_o desirous_a to_o trouble_v too_o this_o be_v a_o benefit_n which_o a_o saint_n with_o submission_n to_o the_o will_n of_o god_n desire_v many_o a_o hour_n before_o it_o come_v he_o be_v as_o willing_a to_o be_v at_o home_o in_o his_o own_o inheritance_n as_o the_o worldling_n be_v to_o have_v he_o out_o of_o he_o now_o death_n crown_v these_o longing_n in_o saint_n and_o bring_v in_o the_o harvest_n of_o many_o prayer_n which_o the_o spirit_n have_v make_v for_o this_o very_a thing_n so_o that_o in_o these_o and_o many_o more_o particular_n be_v death_n beneficial_a and_o advantageous_a to_o the_o body_n of_o saint_n but_o i_o shall_v mention_v two_o general_n in_o which_o death_n without_o its_o sting_n be_v through_o christ_n exceed_v advantageous_a and_o benificous_a to_o the_o soul_n of_o believe_a saint_n first_o it_o deliver_v they_o from_o a_o body_n of_o sin_n a_o place_n of_o temptation_n and_o darkness_n which_o be_v the_o whole_a complaint_n of_o saint_n whilst_o they_o be_v in_o the_o flesh_n the_o apostle_n paul_n complain_v of_o the_o law_n in_o his_o member_n which_o rebel_v against_o the_o law_n of_o his_o mind_n and_o of_o the_o body_n of_o death_n how_o often_o do_v the_o prophet_n david_n pray_v to_o be_v keep_v from_o temptation_n and_o to_o be_v enlighten_v in_o his_o darkness_n that_o god_n will_v show_v he_o the_o way_n he_o shall_v walk_v in_o and_o make_v his_o path_n find_v saint_n in_o this_o frame_n complain_v of_o self_n and_o admire_v of_o god_n condemn_v of_o self_n and_o justify_v of_o god_n the_o remainder_n of_o the_o old_a man_n in_o i_o that_o be_v myself_o my_o flesh_n say_v a_o saint_n but_o the_o new_a creature_n that_o be_v christ_n in_o i_o the_o hope_n of_o glory_n that_o be_v the_o king_n of_o glory_n come_v into_o my_o soul_n and_o display_v the_o glory_n of_o his_o presence_n there_o that_o be_v christ_n in_o i_o and_o i_o in_o christ_n in_o who_o i_o be_o make_v a_o new_a creature_n therefore_o if_o any_o man_n be_v in_o christ_n he_o be_v a_o new_a creature_n and_o if_o any_o man_n be_v a_o new_a creature_n it_o be_v christ_n in_o he_o that_o there_o may_v appear_v method_n in_o what_o follow_v take_v this_o one_o general_a observation_n namely_o that_o be_v in_o christ_n and_o the_o new_a creature_n be_v inseparable_a they_o always_o give_v together_o if_o in_o christ_n then_o a_o new_a creature_n and_o if_o a_o new_a creature_n then_o in_o christ_n as_o it_o be_v impossible_a to_o be_v a_o new_a creature_n before_o unite_a to_o christ_n so_o it_o be_v as_o impossible_a to_o be_v true_o in_o christ_n and_o not_o to_o be_v a_o new_a creature_n as_o those_o dead_a bone_n can_v not_o live_v before_o god_n have_v unite_v they_o cover_v they_o with_o skin_n and_o breathe_v life_n into_o they_o for_o testimony_n to_o this_o truth_n take_v in_o the_o apostle_n paul_n in_o rom._n 8.10_o and_o if_o christ_n be_v in_o you_o the_o body_n be_v dead_a because_o of_o sin_n but_o the_o spirit_n be_v life_n because_o of_o righteousness_n he_o give_v we_o this_o truth_n as_o it_o be_v upon_o his_o experience_n as_o if_o he_o have_v say_v i_o have_v find_v this_o that_o ever_o since_o i_o have_v be_v in_o union_n with_o christ_n the_o body_n of_o sin_n have_v be_v a_o die_a &_o the_o spirit_n of_o life_n have_v carry_v i_o forth_o to_o the_o fruit_n of_o righteousness_n i_o be_o dead_a now_o to_o the_o your_o spirit_n alive_a in_o the_o fruit_n of_o righteousness_n you_o will_v find_v christ_n a_o live_a christ_n the_o second_o man_n from_o heaven_n heavenly_a and_o as_o a_o live_a christ_n so_o he_o make_v life_n where_o ever_o he_o come_v and_o the_o life_n he_o bring_v be_v heavenly_a christ_n make_v the_o new_a creature_n &_o therefore_o can_v never_o be_v without_o the_o new_a creature_n what_o have_v its_o be_v from_o christ_n can_v be_v without_o christ_n now_o the_o new_a creature_n have_v its_o be_v from_o christ_n it_o can_v not_o be_v but_o in_o christ_n and_o by_o christ_n so_o that_o it_o must_v needs_o follow_v it_o be_v always_o with_o christ_n where_o christ_n be_v there_o be_v the_o new_a creature_n indeed_o the_o new_a creature_n be_v nothing_o else_o but_o christ_n live_v with_o christ_n christ_n die_v for_o he_o and_o life_n in_o he_o and_o we_o shall_v find_v the_o apostle_n paul_n in_o gal._n 2.20_o make_v this_o confession_n and_o acknowledgement_n i_o be_o crucify_v with_o christ_n nevertheless_o i_o live_v yet_o not_o i_o but_o christ_n live_v in_o i_o and_o the_o life_n which_o i_o now_o live_v in_o the_o flesh_n i_o live_v by_o the_o faith_n of_o the_o son_n of_o god_n who_o love_v i_o and_o give_v himself_o for_o i_o he_o do_v acknowledge_v himself_o to_o be_v dead_a crucify_v to_o himself_o in_o the_o death_n of_o christ_n and_o then_o lay_v christ_n be_v the_o life_n of_o that_o temple_n without_o i_o say_v christ_n you_o can_v do_v nothing_o true_a lord_n say_v paul_n but_o through_o thy_o strength_n i_o can_v do_v all_o thing_n as_o vanity_n of_o the_o creature_n be_v a_o subject_n well_o worthy_a the_o study_n of_o a_o wise_a christian_n and_o true_o none_o but_o christ_n our_o wisdom_n can_v give_v we_o light_v into_o this_o vanity_n for_o method_n sake_n we_o will_v draw_v out_o one_o general_a truth_n which_o i_o think_v be_v visible_a in_o this_o scripture_n that_o upon_o true_a discovery_n and_o knowledge_n of_o all_o thing_n under_o the_o sun_n we_o shall_v find_v they_o vanity_n and_o vexation_n of_o spirit_n for_o the_o proof_n of_o this_o truth_n let_v we_o search_v the_o scripture_n and_o our_o own_o experience_n the_o wise_a man_n to_o prove_v this_o truth_n begin_v with_o man_n in_o his_o labour_n in_o his_o first_o chap._n vers_fw-la 3_o 4._o what_o profit_n have_v a_o man_n of_o all_o his_o labour_n under_o the_o sun_n for_o he_o stay_v not_o to_o keep_v any_o fruit_n of_o his_o labour_n but_o pass_v away_o one_o generation_n go_v and_o another_o come_v so_o in_o chap._n 2._o vers_fw-la 22_o 23._o man_n reap_v no_o content_n from_o all_o his_o labour_n under_o the_o sun_n they_o fill_v he_o full_a of_o sorrow_n travel_n and_o grief_n and_o at_o last_o he_o can_v lie_v down_o and_o rest_n in_o they_o they_o be_v a_o bed_n of_o thorn_n unfit_a for_o rest_n yea_o when_o the_o poor_a creature_n come_v to_o lie_v down_o indeed_o and_o sleep_v that_o sleep_n of_o death_n it_o find_v be_v so_o great_a that_o he_o can_v utter_v it_o and_o that_o without_o any_o satisfaction_n though_o what_o be_v pursue_v be_v enjoy_v for_o though_o the_o eye_n see_v yet_o it_o be_v not_o satisfy_v with_o see_v and_o though_o the_o ear_n do_v he_o be_v yet_o it_o be_v not_o fill_v with_o hear_v the_o creature_n can_v never_o give_v so_o long_o and_o so_o much_o till_o that_o which_o receive_v from_o it_o say_v it_o have_v enough_o though_o it_o give_v object_n to_o the_o eye_n yet_o the_o eye_n want_v more_o object_n than_o it_o can_v give_v and_o though_o it_o offer_v to_o fill_v the_o ear_n yet_o the_o ear_n be_v not_o fill_v with_o all_o that_o it_o can_v give_v there_o be_v no_o new_a thing_n under_o the_o sun_n but_o that_o which_o have_v be_v shall_v be_v and_o that_o which_o be_v do_v be_v that_o which_o shall_v be_v do_v so_o that_o though_o i_o give_v my_o heart_n to_o know_v all_o thing_n wisdom_n madness_n and_o folly_n yet_o i_o find_v nothing_o new_a in_o they_o vanity_n if_o you_o trust_v the_o world_n you_o will_v find_v it_o so_o the_o wise_a man_n he_o try_v the_o world_n and_o find_v it_o so_o such_o as_o love_v the_o world_n will_v find_v it_o loft_n love_n and_o those_o that_o serve_v the_o world_n most_o will_v find_v they_o serve_v nothing_o but_o vanity_n and_o true_o that_o be_v a_o very_a ill_a master_n the_o latter_a end_n of_o that_o service_n will_v be_v worse_o than_o the_o beginning_n it_o be_v great_a pity_n then_o that_o the_o world_n have_v so_o many_o servant_n see_v it_o be_v so_o unfaithful_a a_o master_n how_o many_o be_v there_o that_o serve_v the_o world_n as_o they_o shall_v serve_v god_n with_o all_o their_o soul_n their_o spirit_n and_o their_o strength_n improve_n their_o life_n liberty_n and_o interest_n to_o serve_v vanity_n and_o to_o lift_v up_o flish_a though_o in_o that_o work_n they_o do_v their_o utmost_a to_o wound_n christ_n in_o his_o member_n it_o be_v a_o sad_a employment_n to_o blow_v of_o our_o saviour_n in_o this_o scripture_n to_o i_o seem_v to_o be_v this_o that_o what_o ever_o his_o flesh_n may_v desire_v yet_o his_o spirit_n leave_v all_o to_o god_n and_o not_o any_o will_n to_o be_v do_v but_o god_n will_n our_o saviour_n in_o this_o do_v and_o so_o shall_v every_o saint_n in_o conformity_n to_o he_o resign_v up_o the_o whole_a soul_n and_o body_n unto_o the_o will_n of_o god_n to_o be_v and_o to_o do_v in_o all_o time_n &_o thing_n according_a to_o his_o will_n so_o as_o that_o in_o every_o thing_n his_o will_n may_v be_v do_v that_o such_o as_o read_v may_v the_o better_o understand_v take_v these_o two_o head_n as_o a_o groundwork_n of_o the_o ensue_a treaty_n first_o that_o it_o be_v the_o duty_n of_o saint_n in_o conformity_n to_o christ_n their_o there_o be_v two_o main_a end_n in_o death_n which_o be_v proper_a to_o saint_n the_o first_o be_v to_o put_v a_o end_n to_o a_o die_a life_n to_o finish_v that_o work_n which_o begin_v so_o soon_o as_o we_o begin_v to_o live_v in_o these_o body_n of_o clay_n man_n begin_v to_o die_v so_o soon_o as_o he_o gin_v to_o liuâ—_n because_o the_o whole_a life_n be_v but_o a_o progress_n of_o death_n or_o a_o die_a life_n all_o the_o time_n we_o live_v we_o die_v invisible_a and_o when_o we_o die_v indeed_o it_o be_v but_o visible_a death_n that_o which_o we_o carry_v about_o with_o we_o in_o the_o world_n then_o appear_v to_o carry_v we_o out_o of_o the_o world_n that_o which_o sleep_v with_o we_o many_o a_o short_a sleep_n now_o cast_v we_o into_o one_o â—â—ng_a sleep_n this_o be_v proper_o the_o end_n of_o death_n in_o saint_n to_o put_v a_o end_n to_o all_o die_a for_o it_o be_v a_o real_a truth_n though_o a_o mystery_n to_o the_o world_n that_o saint_n die_v whilst_o they_o live_v and_o live_v when_o they_o die_v so_o that_o this_o end_n of_o death_n be_v a_o saint_n glory_n not_o his_o grief_n not_o what_o he_o fear_v but_o what_o he_o hope_v for_o count_v himself_o most_o miserable_a of_o all_o man_n if_o death_n end_n be_v not_o to_o put_v a_o end_n to_o his_o die_a life_n the_o other_o main_a end_n in_o death_n be_v to_o pluck_v up_o the_o flower_n of_o heaven_n that_o grow_v in_o the_o earth_n by_o the_o root_n that_o they_o may_v be_v plant_v in_o their_o own_o kingdom_n and_o flourish_v there_o for_o ever_o i_o mean_v those_o precious_a soul_n of_o saint_n which_o be_v here_o enclose_v in_o those_o earthly_a mould_n of_o our_o body_n by_o which_o the_o beauty_n of_o those_o heavenly_a flower_n be_v exceed_o short_a of_o that_o glory_n they_o shall_v have_v with_o christ_n above_o and_o do_v many_o time_n taste_v and_o savour_n of_o the_o earth_n they_o grow_v in_o christ_n be_v the_o proper_a root_n of_o those_o branch_n and_o heaven_n the_o only_a place_n for_o they_o to_o grow_v and_o flourish_v in_o now_o death_n come_v only_o to_o transplant_v they_o from_o earth_n to_o heaven_n to_o crrumble_v that_o clay_n into_o dust_n which_o hold_v these_o flower_n of_o heaven_n so_o fast_o that_o they_o can_v get_v home_o into_o their_o own_o kingdom_n now_o a_o saint_n may_v well_o glory_n over_o this_o end_n of_o death_n for_o death_n be_v herein_o the_o soul_n servant_n to_o have_v it_o home_o to_o glory_n and_o to_o unprison_v it_o from_o all_o the_o bond_n it_o lie_v under_o but_o last_o a_o believe_a saint_n through_o christ_n may_v glory_v over_o death_n in_o its_o victory_n my_o meaning_n be_v the_o victory_n which_o saint_n have_v over_o death_n death_n in_o the_o will_n of_o god_n lay_v saint_n to_o sleep_v in_o their_o corruptible_a body_n but_o saint_n through_o their_o union_n with_o christ_n rise_v again_o &_o that_o in_o incorruption_n though_o it_o go_v to_o the_o dust_n corrupt_a and_o noisome_a clay_n in_o dishonour_n and_o in_o weakness_n like_o a_o natural_a body_n yet_o christ_n will_v raise_v it_o again_o a_o spiritual_a body_n full_a of_o power_n and_o glory_n there_o be_v no_o loss_n to_o saint_n in_o die_v no_o not_o to_o their_o corruptible_a flesh_n for_o that_o have_v a_o interest_n in_o christ_n and_o christ_n have_v conquer_v death_n for_o his_o people_n though_o their_o body_n shall_v by_o death_n be_v sow_o in_o incorruption_n yet_o they_o shall_v not_o lie_v there_o for_o ever_o the_o grave_n shall_v have_v no_o victory_n but_o shall_v give_v up_o its_o dead_a and_o such_o as_o rise_v in_o christ_n shall_v rise_v as_o christ_n spiritual_a body_n though_o the_o earth_n shall_v have_v leave_n to_o root_v the_o corruption_n of_o the_o body_n of_o saint_n yet_o christ_n will_v preserve_v his_o interest_n and_o raise_v it_o as_o the_o fruit_n of_o his_o redemption_n &_o resurrection_n even_o a_o spiritual_a body_n death_n have_v its_o office_n and_o the_o grave_a its_o proper_a work_n but_o christ_n have_v the_o command_n of_o both_o when_o death_n
