unto_o such_o as_o paul_n unto_o the_o elect_a of_o god_n the_o redeem_v of_o christ_n the_o sanctify_a by_o god_n spirit_n the_o member_n of_o christ_n his_o church_n by_o the_o help_n of_o the_o spirit_n through_o the_o ministry_n and_o prayer_n of_o the_o church_n and_o according_a to_o their_o faith_n and_o hope_n in_o christ_n jesus_n first_o then_o here_o can_v be_v no_o hope_n nor_o shall_v be_v any_o help_n unto_o such_o as_o either_o be_v out_o of_o the_o church_n or_o be_v in_o the_o church_n but_o not_o of_o the_o church_n for_o albeit_o such_o may_v have_v suffering_n and_o wrong_n yet_o shall_v they_o not_o turn_v to_o their_o salvation_n neither_o can_v they_o turn_v unto_o salvation_n because_o they_o be_v not_o for_o christ_n his_o sake_n or_o the_o gospel_n to_o which_o kind_n only_o the_o promise_n be_v make_v nay_o unto_o such_o alient_n from_o the_o covenant_n of_o promise_n their_o trouble_n in_o this_o life_n be_v but_o the_o beginning_n of_o that_o fearful_a judgement_n which_o in_o flame_a fire_n be_v reserve_v for_o they_o against_o that_o great_a day_n second_o hence_o we_o learn_v that_o even_o unto_o the_o godly_a in_o christ_n jesus_n their_o suffering_n and_o wrong_n turn_v to_o their_o salvation_n not_o for_o any_o their_o merit_n or_o through_o the_o virtue_n of_o their_o suffering_n but_o through_o the_o prayer_n of_o the_o saint_n etc._n etc._n if_o we_o think_v upon_o merit_n we_o may_v well_o think_v that_o our_o apostle_n may_v as_o well_o have_v stand_v upon_o merit_n as_o the_o best_a that_o live_v can_v nay_o in_o suffering_n and_o wrong_n he_o be_v more_o abundant_a than_o the_o best_a that_o live_v be_v as_o that_o place_n to_o the_o corinthian_n show_v yet_o he_o stand_v not_o upon_o they_o but_o that_o his_o trouble_n turn_v to_o his_o salvation_n 11._o 2_o cor_fw-la 11._o he_o impute_v it_o to_o the_o prayer_n of_o the_o church_n &_o to_o the_o help_n of_o god_n spirit_n according_a to_o the_o out_o for_o the_o afflict_a member_n of_o christ_n jesus_n which_o be_v that_o through_o the_o prayer_n of_o the_o church_n their_o trouble_n turn_v to_o their_o salvation_n the_o prayer_n of_o a_o righteous_a man_n 5.16_o jam._n 5.16_o say_v james_n avail_v much_o if_o it_o be_v fervent_a here_o be_v a_o condition_n requisite_a in_o prayer_n if_o it_o be_v powerful_a with_o god_n that_o it_o pleasure_n while_o we_o be_v here_o for_o when_o we_o be_v go_v then_o all_o the_o world_n be_v go_v with_o us._n sure_o if_o a_o man_n may_v conjecture_v by_o our_o dissoluteness_n of_o life_n a_o great_a many_o of_o we_o either_o think_v that_o in_o death_n there_o be_v utter_o a_o end_n of_o we_o or_o too_o little_a think_v what_o remain_v after_o death_n belove_a we_o be_v buy_v with_o a_o price_n let_v we_o therefore_o glorify_v god_n both_o in_o our_o body_n and_o in_o our_o spirit_n we_o may_v not_o live_v unto_o ourselves_o nor_o give_v our_o member_n weapon_n of_o unrighteousness_n they_o that_o trouble_v the_o church_n with_o this_o fancy_n tell_v we_o that_o of_o they_o that_o die_v some_o be_v perfect_a and_o just_a man_n and_o they_o go_v straight_o unto_o heaven_n other_o they_o touch_v this_o three_o sort_n of_o man_n have_v they_o faith_n or_o no_o they_o grant_v they_o have_v but_o a_o weak_a
of_o god_n be_v deck_v and_o beautify_v more_o than_o with_o all_o costly_a jewel_n and_o precious_a ointment_n whatsoever_o but_o here_o it_o be_v to_o be_v observe_v even_o from_o the_o apostle_n in_o this_o place_n of_o peter_n that_o there_o be_v a_o two_o fold_v humility_n and_o holiness_n the_o one_o inward_a the_o other_o outward_a the_o one_o of_o the_o mind_n the_o other_o to_o the_o eye_n the_o one_o true_a and_o holy_a the_o other_o ill_o and_o hypocritical_a of_o the_o outward_a and_o hypocritical_a humbleness_n the_o apostle_n speak_v where_o he_o thus_o write_v unto_o the_o colossian_n let_v no_o man_n at_o his_o pleasure_n bear_v rule_n over_o you_o by_o humbleness_n of_o mind_n 2.18_o colos_n 2.18_o and_o worship_v of_o angel_n etc._n etc._n for_o the_o understanding_n of_o which_o place_n it_o be_v to_o be_v understand_v that_o there_o be_v crafty_o creep_v in_o among_o the_o colossian_n certain_o which_o teach_v they_o to_o worship_n angel_n because_o forsooth_o it_o be_v a_o point_n of_o great_a arrogancy_n straightway_n to_o rush_v into_o the_o holy_a place_n and_o to_o worship_n god_n great_a humbleness_n beseem_v they_o then_o forthwith_o to_o rule_v another_o property_n of_o it_o be_v that_o he_o that_o be_v humble_a and_o aâ—_n our_o saviour_n call_v he_o poor_a in_o spirit_n esteem_v other_o better_a than_o himself_o as_o the_o apostle_n show_v vers_n 3._o he_o stand_v not_o upon_o the_o conceit_n of_o his_o knowledge_n of_o his_o honour_n of_o his_o wealth_n of_o his_o friend_n if_o he_o have_v these_o thing_n he_o acknowledge_v they_o to_o be_v the_o blessing_n of_o the_o lord_n but_o no_o cause_n why_o he_o shall_v swell_v with_o pride_n or_o advance_v himself_o above_o his_o brethren_n but_o do_v not_o the_o wealthy_a rich_a man_n tread_v under_o foot_n and_o oppress_v with_o all_o wrong_n and_o violence_n his_o poor_a neighbour_n be_v not_o the_o great_a scholar_n and_o wise_a man_n so_o puff_v up_o with_o his_o knowledge_n that_o he_o count_v of_o other_o little_o better_a than_o fool_n do_v not_o the_o great_a man_n whether_o it_o be_v that_o he_o be_v great_a in_o office_n or_o in_o birth_n and_o friend_n do_v he_o not_o disdain_v his_o inferior_n and_o oftentimes_o make_v a_o mock_n of_o they_o i_o wish_v it_o be_v not_o so_o but_o if_o it_o be_v so_o there_o want_v in_o they_o this_o humbleness_n of_o mind_n commend_v the_o whole_a church_n in_o our_o prayer_n unto_o god_n a_o good_a lesson_n and_o well_o worthy_a the_o learning_n of_o many_o in_o these_o our_o day_n for_o as_o it_o fare_v more_o private_o and_o particular_o among_o man_n so_o do_v it_o fare_v more_o public_o and_o general_o in_o the_o church_n among_o man_n ordinary_o every_o trifle_a matter_n be_v enough_o to_o cut_v off_o all_o love_n and_o friendship_n among_o we_o nay_o to_o breed_v great_a hatred_n and_o enmity_n among_o we_o nay_o to_o set_v we_o at_o such_o odds_o that_o rather_o we_o will_v ban_v and_o curse_v one_o another_o then_o pray_v one_o for_o another_o and_o if_o we_o differ_v in_o judgement_n one_o from_o another_o about_o some_o matter_n of_o the_o church_n than_o nothing_o on_o one_o part_n but_o carnal_a gospeller_n and_o timeservers_a nothing_o on_o another_o part_n but_o sacrilegious_a person_n schismatical_a person_n troubler_n of_o the_o state_n and_o hypocritical_a dissembler_n nothing_o but_o slander_v and_o forge_v thing_n never_o write_v or_o speak_v nothing_o but_o such_o uncharitableness_n as_o that_o it_o may_v be_v fear_v that_o on_o some_o part_n there_o be_v little_o pray_v for_o the_o other_o unless_o it_o be_v to_o confound_v they_o neither_o be_v it_o otherwise_o more_o public_o and_o generalâ—y_o in_o the_o church_n if_o we_o may_v judge_v by_o outward_a appearance_n some_o part_n of_o the_o church_n unto_o some_o seem_v to_o have_v so_o many_o defect_n and_o blemish_n so_o many_o superstitious_a rite_n and_o ceremony_n that_o they_o can_v
