although_o the_o earthen_a vessel_n be_v break_v we_o have_v not_o lose_v all_o the_o treasure_n the_o less_o it_o be_v that_o be_v save_v the_o more_o we_o shall_v make_v of_o it_o as_o we_o carry_v it_o towards_o the_o parent_n of_o many_o child_n when_o they_o leave_v but_o one_o only_a little_a one_o behind_o we_o account_v it_o very_o dear_a especial_o if_o it_o be_v like_o the_o parent_n and_o true_o so_o be_v this_o little_a book_n in_o thy_o hand_n it_o be_v a_o representation_n of_o the_o consistency_n of_o faith_n and_o doubt_v fear_v and_o hope_n heaviness_n and_o gladness_n in_o one_o and_o the_o same_o godly_a person_n whereof_o the_o author_n be_v a_o famous_a instance_n as_o if_o this_o have_v be_v his_o very_a temper_n and_o complexion_n behold_v then_o here_o one_o only_a little_a birth_n shorthand_n birth_n these_o sermon_n be_v publish_v as_o they_o be_v take_v in_o shorthand_n something_o hurt_v indeed_o in_o the_o come_n forth_o for_o want_v of_o better_a midwifery_n but_o yet_o of_o many_o resemble_v the_o parent_n and_o cost_v he_o his_o very_a life_n behold_v reader_n i_o present_v thou_o with_o a_o taste_n of_o the_o fruit_n under_o the_o weight_n second_o epistle_n of_o paul_n to_o the_o thessalonian_o the_o second_o chapter_n the_o sixteenth_o and_o seventeen_o verse_n 16._o now_o our_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n himself_o and_o god_n even_o our_o father_n who_o have_v love_v we_o and_o have_v give_v we_o everlasting_a consolation_n and_o good_a hope_n through_o grace_n 17._o comfort_v your_o heart_n and_o establish_v you_o in_o every_o good_a word_n and_o work_n as_o it_o be_v the_o duty_n of_o all_o when_o they_o have_v the_o truth_n make_v know_v to_o they_o to_o receive_v it_o so_o much_o more_o be_v it_o the_o duty_n of_o believer_n that_o have_v receive_v the_o truth_n to_o hold_v it_o fast_o as_o we_o be_v to_o buy_v the_o truth_n so_o have_v once_o buy_v it_o never_o to_o sell_v it_o as_o we_o be_v to_o lay_v hold_n on_o it_o so_o never_o to_o let_v it_o go_v as_o it_o be_v our_o duty_n to_o embrace_v the_o truth_n so_o it_o shall_v be_v our_o care_n never_o to_o let_v it_o go_v never_o to_o leave_v it_o the_o apostle_n have_v in_o this_o chapter_n exhort_v the_o saint_n to_o steadfastness_n to_o watchfulness_n and_o carefulness_n he_o press_v his_o exhortation_n from_o variety_n of_o motive_n take_v partly_o from_o the_o apostasy_n of_o those_o that_o be_v seem_o friend_n to_o the_o truth_n partly_o from_o the_o misery_n of_o the_o enemy_n of_o the_o truth_n and_o then_o again_o in_o regard_n of_o the_o holiness_n they_o be_v adorn_v with_o and_o the_o happiness_n they_o shall_v ere_o long_o enjoy_v and_o therefore_o he_o repeat_v his_o exhortation_n to_o steadfastness_n in_o the_o verse_n before_o the_o text_n therefore_o brethren_n stand_v fast_o and_o hold_v the_o tradition_n not_o of_o man_n but_o of_o god_n which_o you_o have_v be_v teach_v that_o be_v those_o doctrine_n you_o have_v receive_v whether_o from_o our_o mouth_n or_o writing_n that_o be_v from_o the_o apostle_n who_o be_v infallible_o guide_v by_o the_o holy_a ghost_n and_o to_o this_o exhortation_n he_o add_v supplication_n in_o the_o word_n now_o read_v wherein_o take_v notice_n of_o four_o thing_n first_o the_o person_n pray_v paul_n silvanus_n and_o timotheus_n second_o the_o person_n pray_v for_o the_o saint_n of_o the_o church_n of_o the_o thessalonian_o three_o the_o person_n pray_v too_o and_o they_o be_v two_o first_o god_n the_o son_n second_o god_n the_o father_n the_o apostle_n mention_n the_o son_n first_o noâ—_n that_o he_o be_v so_o in_o order_n of_o nature_n but_o he_o 〈◊〉_d not_o curious_a in_o place_v his_o word_n though_o 〈◊〉_d very_o well_o know_v that_o god_n the_o father_n be_v the_o first_o person_n in_o the_o trinity_n god_n even_o our_o father_n where_o we_o have_v first_o his_o love_n assert_v who_o have_v love_v we_o second_o declare_v and_o illustrate_v first_o in_o the_o effect_n of_o it_o an_o have_v give_v we_o everlasting_a consolation_n and_o then_o in_o the_o cause_n of_o it_o be_v good_a hope_n through_o grace_n last_o the_o petition_n themselves_o or_o blessing_n pray_v for_o and_o they_o be_v two_o consolation_n and_o confirmation_n consolation_n comfort_v your_o heart_n confirmation_n establish_v you_o in_o every_o good_a word_n and_o work_n my_o time_n be_v but_o short_a the_o text_n be_v large_a and_o therefore_o i_o must_v but_o only_o in_o many_o thing_n paraphrase_n upon_o the_o word_n now_o our_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n now_o or_o first_o the_o apostle_n here_o add_v this_o supplication_n to_o his_o former_a exhortation_n from_o whence_o i_o may_v note_v first_o doct._n i._n that_o the_o minister_n of_o the_o gospel_n be_v not_o only_o to_o preach_v to_o but_o to_o pray_v for_o the_o people_n as_o they_o be_v to_o speak_v from_o god_n to_o they_o so_o they_o be_v to_o speak_v for_o they_o
