lord_n will_v come_v in_o majesty_n and_o glory_n both_o as_o a_o lord_n against_o the_o enemy_n of_o the_o church_n to_o destroy_v they_o utter_o and_o as_o a_o saviour_n to_o bestow_v upon_o the_o church_n even_o all_o save_a mercy_n especial_o that_o great_a mercy_n of_o everlasting_a blessedness_n that_o be_v not_o mix_v with_o sin_n and_o corruption_n that_o be_v not_o mix_v with_o any_o as_o a_o faithful_a servant_n that_o have_v do_v his_o work_n long_v for_o his_o master_n come_v home_o that_o he_o may_v give_v a_o account_n of_o his_o faithfulness_n and_o may_v be_v acceptable_a to_o his_o master_n for_o his_o faithful_a service_n that_o he_o have_v do_v in_o his_o absence_n that_o he_o may_v expect_v his_o master_n remuneration_n but_o there_o be_v another_o expectation_n of_o christ_n to_o come_v that_o be_v not_o with_o desire_n but_o with_o horror_n and_o dread_a and_o fear_v out_o of_o guiltiness_n of_o conscience_n this_o be_v the_o expectation_n of_o a_o malefactor_n in_o the_o jail_n he_o wait_v and_o look_v for_o the_o come_n of_o the_o judge_n to_o pass_v sentence_n on_o he_o and_o so_o to_o be_v drag_v to_o execution_n thus_o wicked_a man_n expect_v christ_n thus_o wicked_a angel_n expect_v he_o but_o the_o expectation_n of_o the_o godly_a be_v a_o expectation_n with_o love_n and_o desire_n a_o expectation_n not_o of_o a_o severe_a judge_n but_o of_o a_o love_a husband_n of_o a_o faithful_a master_n that_o have_v promise_v a_o recompense_n to_o the_o service_n of_o believer_n even_o the_o least_o and_o low_a if_o it_o be_v the_o gift_n of_o a_o cup_n of_o cold_a water_n in_o his_o name_n therefore_o you_o must_v take_v knowledge_n of_o the_o expectation_n here_o mean_v this_o i_o say_v be_v proper_a to_o believer_n let_v we_o see_v the_o truth_n of_o the_o doctrine_n in_o the_o reason_n of_o it_o why_o every_o faithful_a soul_n must_v needs_o long_o and_o desire_v the_o second_o come_v of_o christ_n first_o because_o it_o be_v a_o part_n of_o christ_n gracious_a promise_n which_o the_o faith_n of_o the_o soul_n lean_v on_o the_o proper_a object_n of_o faith_n be_v the_o promise_n of_o the_o gospel_n this_o you_o may_v see_v in_o the_o text_n christ_n have_v promise_v to_o come_v amen_o even_o so_o here_o be_v the_o reason_n of_o this_o desire_n because_o his_o promise_n go_v before_o it_o the_o faithful_a soul_n apprehend_v every_o other_o inferior_a promise_n and_o every_o less_o promise_n much_o more_o this_o main_a promise_n the_o very_a knot_n of_o all_o the_o very_a compliment_n of_o all_o faith_n must_v needs_o expect_v and_o clasp_v fast_o hold_v upon_o this_o promise_n and_o give_v assent_n and_o acclamation_n to_o it_o as_o in_o the_o word_n amen_o even_o so_o come_v as_o thou_o have_v say_v and_o the_o new_a testament_n we_o read_v of_o anna_n and_o zacharias_n and_o elizabeth_n and_o the_o faithful_a that_o wait_n for_o the_o consolation_n of_o israel_n they_o wait_v for_o the_o accomplishment_n of_o this_o promise_n the_o come_n of_o christ_n in_o the_o flesh_n his_o first_o come_v shall_v they_o wait_v and_o earnest_o desire_v the_o first_o come_v of_o the_o son_n of_o god_n in_o humility_n and_o humanity_n and_o baseness_n and_o shall_v not_o we_o earnest_o expect_v his_o second_o come_v in_o glory_n to_o manifest_v not_o only_o his_o glory_n but_o our_o glory_n conjunction_n of_o marriage_n among_o man_n wherein_o the_o love_n must_v needs_o be_v imperfect_a and_o but_o a_o drop_n of_o that_o ocean_n and_o wherein_o the_o love_n of_o the_o party_n must_v needs_o be_v sinful_a yet_o notwithstanding_o we_o see_v how_o vehement_a it_o be_v in_o the_o absence_n of_o one_o another_o the_o one_o long_v and_o pine_v after_o the_o other_o and_o one_o party_n enjoy_v not_o himself_o without_o the_o other_o much_o more_o ought_v it_o to_o be_v so_o here_o in_o this_o heavenly_a contract_n between_o christ_n and_o his_o faithful_a spouse_n shall_v not_o hear_v the_o spouse_n be_v sick_a of_o love_n as_o the_o spouse_n profess_v of_o herself_o in_o the_o second_o of_o canticle_n this_o vehement_a desire_n must_v needs_o arise_v out_o of_o the_o nearness_n and_o undevidedness_n of_o that_o conjunction_n that_o be_v between_o christ_n and_o a_o christian_n there_o be_v little_a love_n where_o there_o be_v little_a desire_n of_o the_o thing_n belove_v when_o it_o be_v absent_a why_o do_v the_o member_n of_o the_o body_n desire_v immediate_a conjunction_n with_o the_o head_n but_o because_o it_o know_v that_o the_o separation_n from_o the_o head_n be_v the_o death_n of_o the_o member_n so_o it_o be_v in_o this_o near_a conjunction_n between_o christ_n the_o head_n and_o his_o member_n the_o church_n they_o must_v needs_o desire_v immediate_a and_o inseparable_a conjunction_n with_o the_o head_n because_o the_o separation_n from_o the_o head_n must_v be_v the_o death_n of_o the_o member_n that_o be_v the_o second_o reason_n the_o three_o reason_n of_o the_o point_n be_v this_o because_o the_o saint_n of_o god_n they_o know_v that_o the_o accomplishment_n of_o the_o full_a happiness_n of_o the_o church_n of_o god_n and_o likewise_o of_o themselves_o that_o be_v member_n of_o the_o church_n it_o consist_v in_o this_o in_o christ_n his_o second_o come_v again_o to_o judgement_n therefore_o they_o do_v earnest_o desire_v it_o and_o effect_v it_o and_o say_v amen_o even_o so_o come_v because_o i_o say_v they_o know_v this_o be_v the_o come_v that_o perfect_v the_o church_n of_o god_n perfect_v their_o glory_n in_o the_o state_n of_o happiness_n which_o the_o church_n and_o every_o member_n thereof_o do_v expect_v they_o know_v that_o that_o be_v the_o time_n which_o
shall_v be_v the_o revelation_n of_o the_o son_n of_o god_n who_o be_v here_o obscure_a and_o shall_v be_v till_o that_o day_n come_v they_o know_v well_o that_o all_o the_o grace_n and_o perfection_n i_o name_v before_o it_o be_v say_v christ_n shall_v appear_v to_o save_v they_o that_o wait_v for_o he_o he_o shall_v bring_v a_o full_a horn_n of_o salvation_n he_o shall_v perfect_v the_o salvation_n of_o the_o saint_n till_o that_o day_n there_o be_v no_o perfection_n in_o the_o salvation_n of_o the_o saint_n no_o though_o they_o go_v to_o heaven_n yet_o before_o that_o day_n there_o be_v no_o perfect_a salvation_n because_o their_o body_n be_v not_o join_v to_o their_o soul_n this_o be_v a_o three_o reason_n even_o the_o expectation_n of_o the_o full_a accomplishment_n of_o all_o the_o promise_n the_o lord_n have_v deal_v with_o we_o as_o he_o deal_v with_o his_o own_o israel_n in_o their_o wilderness_n he_o give_v they_o a_o taste_n of_o the_o fruit_n of_o the_o good_a land_n he_o cause_v the_o searcher_n to_o carry_v some_o cluster_n and_o bunch_n of_o the_o fruit_n to_o the_o israelite_n in_o the_o wilderness_n that_o they_o taste_v of_o it_o may_v hie_v themselves_o to_o that_o rich_a and_o goodly_a and_o fat_a country_n so_o the_o lord_n give_v we_o some_o drop_n of_o grace_n and_o only_o give_v we_o a_o taste_n of_o that_o happiness_n that_o we_o wait_v for_o that_o we_o may_v hie_v ourselves_o so_o much_o the_o fast_o through_o this_o wilderness_n to_o enjoy_v it_o this_o therefore_o be_v a_o strong_a reason_n wherefore_o the_o people_n of_o god_n must_v needs_o say_v come_v even_o so_o amen_o let_v it_o be_v so_o because_o i_o say_v they_o know_v till_o christ_n come_v the_o second_o time_n they_o must_v not_o expect_v the_o accomplishment_n of_o their_o hope_n and_o the_o perfection_n of_o their_o happiness_n the_o four_o and_o last_o reason_n of_o this_o point_n may_v be_v this_o because_o we_o be_v teach_v by_o our_o lord_n and_o saviour_n christ_n to_o pray_v thy_o kingdom_n come_v that_o be_v not_o only_o that_o the_o kingdom_n of_o grace_n may_v come_v into_o our_o heart_n while_o we_o be_v here_o but_o that_o the_o kingdom_n of_o glory_n may_v hasten_v upon_o we_o and_o we_o be_v sure_a that_o this_o petition_n shall_v never_o be_v grant_v to_o we_o till_o christ_n his_o return_n again_o to_o judgement_n till_o he_o come_v to_o accomplish_v this_o main_a promise_n of_o all_o for_o then_o only_a christ_n come_v as_o our_o lord_n and_o jesus_n then_o he_o come_v as_o a_o lord_n and_o make_v a_o end_n of_o all_o the_o war_n of_o the_o church_n than_o he_o shall_v throw_v down_o all_o enemy_n before_o he_o tread_v satan_n and_o all_o his_o instrument_n under_o his_o foot_n than_o he_o shall_v manifest_v to_o the_o world_n that_o he_o have_v the_o key_n of_o hell_n and_o of_o death_n than_o he_o shall_v destroy_v the_o kingdom_n of_o antichrist_n that_o must_v be_v abolish_v by_o the_o brightness_n of_o his_o come_n and_o then_o and_o not_o till_o then_o he_o shall_v come_v as_o a_o saviour_n to_o perform_v perfect_a salvation_n for_o his_o church_n to_o deliver_v his_o church_n not_o only_o from_o condemnation_n but_o from_o the_o molestation_n of_o sin_n not_o only_o from_o tyranny_n and_o oppression_n of_o enemy_n but_o even_o from_o all_o the_o presence_n of_o enemy_n that_o at_o that_o day_n a_o separation_n be_v make_v it_o may_v be_v say_v to_o the_o saint_n of_o god_n as_o moses_n say_v to_o the_o israelity_n when_o they_o be_v afraid_a of_o the_o egyptian_n stand_v still_o fear_v nothing_o the_o enemy_n that_o your_o eye_n have_v see_v to_o day_n you_o shall_v never_o see_v they_o more_o they_o shall_v be_v so_o far_o from_o oppress_v the_o church_n that_o they_o shall_v never_o molest_v the_o church_n not_o so_o much_o as_o by_o their_o presence_n than_o he_o shall_v dispose_v the_o kingdom_n to_o his_o member_n as_o the_o father_n have_v dispose_v the_o kingdom_n to_o he_o these_o be_v strong_a and_o effectual_a reason_n to_o prove_v this_o point_n to_o we_o that_o the_o member_n of_o the_o church_n true_a believer_n can_v possible_o but_o wait_n and_o expect_v and_o vehement_o desire_v the_o come_n of_o christ_n the_o second_o time_n for_o the_o salvation_n of_o his_o body_n the_o final_a salvation_n of_o his_o people_n here_o one_o objection_n may_v be_v make_v by_o the_o way_n and_o so_o we_o will_v descend_v to_o the_o use_n and_o application_n of_o it_o here_o it_o may_v be_v say_v but_o why_o do_v the_o people_n of_o god_n thus_o expect_v and_o wait_v for_o the_o come_n of_o christ_n in_o all_o the_o age_n of_o the_o new_a testament_n for_o the_o space_n of_o 1600_o year_n and_o yet_o he_o come_v not_o what_o reason_n have_v they_o to_o be_v command_v to_o expect_v and_o wish_v and_o wait_v for_o the_o come_n of_o christ_n when_o he_o come_v not_o in_o so_o long_a a_o time_n have_v not_o all_o be_v frustrate_a of_o their_o expectation_n and_o may_v not_o we_o as_o well_o as_o they_o that_o live_v in_o the_o age_n before_o we_o for_o we_o see_v no_o appearance_n of_o his_o come_n no_o more_o than_o be_v many_o hundred_o year_n since_o to_o this_o we_o answer_v that_o the_o patient_a abide_n and_o wait_v of_o the_o just_a never_o miscarry_v the_o saint_n of_o god_n never_o lose_v nor_o shall_v lose_v for_o their_o expect_v and_o wait_v for_o christ_n second_o come_v to_o judgement_n the_o saint_n of_o god_n in_o former_a age_n 1600._o year_n ago_o wait_v for_o christ_n come_v but_o be_v they_o loser_n by_o it_o though_o he_o come_v not_o this_o expectation_n of_o his_o come_n it_o keep_v they_o in_o the_o exercise_n of_o their_o faith_n of_o their_o hope_n of_o their_o patience_n of_o their_o watchfulness_n it_o keep_v all_o their_o grace_n a_o work_n therefore_o they_o be_v no_o loser_n by_o it_o though_o they_o have_v not_o the_o accomplishment_n of_o the_o main_a promise_n in_o expect_v the_o promise_n they_o be_v saviour_n and_o no_o loser_n because_o all_o their_o grace_n be_v keep_v in_o exercise_n beside_o this_o in_o the_o second_o place_n the_o very_a expectation_n of_o christ_n in_o the_o age_n of_o the_o new-testament_n though_o he_o come_v not_o it_o be_v fruitful_a and_o useful_a to_o draw_v up_o the_o heart_n and_o mind_n of_o the_o godly_a to_o heavenly_a thought_n and_o to_o a_o heavenly_a conversation_n and_o so_o in_o the_o very_a first_o age_n of_o the_o new-testament_n the_o apostle_n tell_v we_o that_o this_o be_v the_o use_n of_o their_o expectation_n phil._n 3.19_o our_o conversation_n be_v in_o heaven_n from_o whence_o we_o look_v for_o a_o saviour_n they_o look_v for_o a_o saviour_n then_o when_o he_o be_v but_o new_o ascend_v be_v it_o fruitless_a because_o he_o come_v not_o of_o 1600._o year_n after_o no_o but_o our_o conversation_n be_v therefore_o in_o heaven_n because_o we_o wait_v for_o his_o come_n in_o all_o age_n since_o this_o expectation_n have_v be_v a_o mean_n to_o raise_v the_o heavy_a mould_n of_o earth_n the_o heart_n of_o man_n to_o heaven_n and_o heavenly-mindedness_a therefore_o this_o expectation_n do_v not_o fail_v because_o it_o be_v of_o use_n to_o help_v they_o to_o the_o full_a fruition_n of_o it_o in_o the_o time_n of_o it_o beside_o the_o saint_n of_o god_n never_o murmur_v because_o christ_n come_v not_o they_o never_o murmur_v as_o those_o that_o shall_v lose_v their_o hope_n and_o expectation_n because_o they_o be_v teach_v to_o frame_v their_o mind_n and_o will_n to_o the_o will_n of_o god_n and_o of_o jesus_n christ_n their_o head_n now_o the_o will_n of_o god_n be_v that_o we_o shall_v still_o wait_v though_o christ_n come_v not_o because_o hereby_o the_o lord_n do_v glorify_v himself_o in_o the_o gather_n in_o together_o the_o number_n of_o the_o faithful_a the_o number_n of_o the_o saint_n must_v be_v gather_v in_o and_o none_o must_v be_v neglect_v now_o be_v there_o any_o saint_n of_o god_n and_o believer_n in_o
