they_o have_v according_a to_o their_o faith_n vers._n 147_o and_o 148._o i_o prevent_v the_o morning_n light_n and_o cry_v etc._n etc._n my_o eye_n prevent_v the_o night-watche_n etc._n etc._n we_o may_v note_v his_o great_a diligence_n in_o resort_v often_o to_o prayer_n and_o his_o sundry_a time_n frequent_v of_o it_o in_o which_o diligence_n for_o our_o instruction_n let_v we_o observe_v learn_v thus_o much_o we_o must_v not_o be_v content_a to_o use_v one_o sigh_n or_o one_o groan_n and_o away_o or_o a_o few_o word_n and_o then_o think_v we_o have_v pray_v well_o but_o we_o must_v be_v importunate_a with_o god_n 2_o that_o this_o holy_a importunity_n be_v to_o be_v use_v we_o may_v see_v by_o our_o saviour_n christ_n word_n luk_n 21._o vers_fw-la 36._o watch_z &_o pray_v nor_o keep_v silence_n they_o can_v find_v any_o quiet_a neither_o be_v there_o any_o great_a plague_n than_o this_o as_o testify_v the_o wiseman_n in_o the_o book_n of_o the_o proverb_n give_v i_o any_o plague_n save_v the_o plague_n of_o the_o heart_n etc._n etc._n no_o marvel_n for_o when_o our_o reason_n and_o appetite_n fight_v one_o with_o another_o and_o there_o be_v a_o hurly_n burly_n within_o we_o we_o shall_v find_v nothing_o to_o be_v more_o precious_a than_o the_o peace_n of_o conscience_n which_o so_o commend_v we_o to_o god_n that_o we_o shall_v find_v in_o trouble_n peace_n in_o banishment_n our_o country_n in_o imprisonment_n liberty_n in_o death_n life_n what_o madness_n then_o be_v it_o to_o put_v this_o peace_n from_o we_o and_o to_o hale_v towards_o we_o as_o with_o cart_n rope_n these_o direful_a plague_n of_o the_o spirit_n which_o so_o torment_v we_o in_o this_o life_n &_o without_o repentance_n in_o death_n will_v bring_v we_o to_o hell_n if_o then_o by_o the_o grace_n of_o god_n his_o spirit_n we_o will_v oft_o set_v before_o we_o some_o serious_a meditation_n of_o death_n and_o think_v earnest_o of_o our_o departure_n from_o hence_o even_o as_o our_o deliverance_n out_o of_o the_o flesh_n be_v then_o at_o hand_n doubtless_o we_o shall_v find_v by_o that_o a_o approve_a trial_n of_o the_o image_n of_o that_o estate_n which_o we_o shall_v have_v if_o death_n indeed_o be_v present_a and_o if_o in_o the_o quietness_n of_o our_o mind_n on_o our_o bed_n at_o midnight_n we_o will_v without_o hypocrisy_n present_v ourselves_o before_o god_n his_o judgement_n seat_n as_o if_o christ_n in_o that_o instance_n do_v appear_v in_o the_o cloud_n we_o will_v redeem_v this_o benefit_n and_o peace_n of_o conscience_n with_o all_o the_o good_n in_o the_o world_n wherefore_o as_o the_o prophet_n exhort_v we_o it_o be_v good_a thus_o to_o examine_v ourselves_o and_o not_o to_o tarry_v the_o trial_n of_o our_o heart_n until_o affliction_n come_v upon_o they_o call_v on_o thou_o they_o glorify_v thou_o even_o until_o their_o death_n we_o shall_v not_o only_o see_v the_o truth_n of_o this_o in_o the_o patriarch_n and_o prophet_n and_o apostle_n and_o in_o the_o primitive_a church_n but_o also_o in_o the_o saint_n of_o god_n of_o late_a memory_n in_o king_n edward_n his_o day_n who_o use_v their_o time_n as_o though_o they_o use_v it_o not_o when_o affliction_n come_v they_o neither_o fear_v nor_o forswear_v themselves_o but_o quiet_o suffer_v imprisonment_n banishment_n torment_n and_o martyrdom_n as_o the_o dear_a child_n of_o god_n we_o may_v call_v now_o to_o mind_n how_o the_o bless_a man_n david_n behave_v himself_o in_o all_o his_o misery_n and_o how_o saul_n plunge_v himself_o in_o disobedience_n who_o think_v in_o time_n of_o god_n his_o judgement_n to_o follow_v his_o own_o wiâ—_n fall_v from_o sin_n to_o sin_n until_o he_o fall_v into_o a_o fury_n when_o he_o begin_v to_o ask_v counsel_n of_o the_o devil_n and_o afterward_o by_o the_o justice_n of_o god_n have_v a_o miserable_a death_n the_o like_a we_o may_v see_v in_o the_o egyptian_n babylonian_n chaldaean_n and_o israelite_n when_o they_o forsake_v the_o lord_n in_o compare_v these_o thing_n together_o we_o shall_v mark_v the_o work_n of_o god_n and_o how_o they_o that_o love_v not_o the_o truth_n in_o love_n be_v plague_v of_o the_o lord_n with_o anguish_n distraction_n and_o terror_n of_o mind_n some_o end_n their_o life_n in_o treason_n some_o in_o profaneness_n some_o in_o heresy_n some_o in_o shame_n and_o some_o otherwise_o they_o that_o love_v thy_o law_n &c_n &c_n rom._n 8._o 28_o we_o know_v that_o all_o thing_n work_v together_o for_o the_o best_a unto_o they_o that_o love_n god_n etc._n etc._n this_o be_v a_o thing_n worthy_a of_o observation_n that_o he_o say_v thâ—y_o that_o love_v thy_o law_n for_o it_o be_v a_o easy_a matter_n to_o say_v that_o we_o love_v god_n as_o heretic_n atheist_n and_o the_o family_n of_o love_n will_v brag_v but_o they_o love_v not_o with_o the_o man_n of_o god_n the_o word_n which_o be_v the_o true_a and_o only_o touch_v stone_n to_o tâ—ie_v we_o whether_o we_o love_v god_n or_o no._n
