abroad_o 16._o among_o you_o this_o way_n it_o be_v profitable_a profitable_a for_o doctrine_n for_o reproof_n for_o instruction_n for_o correction_n and_o it_o will_v make_v the_o man_n of_o god_n perfect_a so_o profitable_a as_o that_o it_o be_v able_a to_o perfect_v a_o man_n to_o make_v he_o wise_a to_o salvation_n and_o we_o need_v no_o more_o wisdom_n the_o like_a may_v i_o speak_v concern_v the_o sacrament_n of_o the_o lord_n supper_n it_o be_v institute_v of_o god_n with_o a_o eye_n to_o his_o people_n supper_n benefit_n that_o they_o may_v come_v to_o be_v make_v partaker_n of_o that_o profitable_a flesh_n and_o blood_n for_o so_o i_o may_v just_o call_v it_o of_o the_o lord_n jesus_n it_o be_v not_o the_o blood_n of_o bull_n and_o of_o goat_n it_o be_v not_o the_o blood_n of_o all_o the_o man_n in_o the_o world_n that_o be_v profitable_a for_o such_o purpose_n as_o the_o pacify_v of_o the_o wrath_n of_o god_n the_o quench_n of_o the_o flame_n of_o his_o displeasure_n the_o purge_n of_o the_o conscience_n from_o dead_a work_n of_o those_o we_o may_v say_v as_o david_n in_o another_o case_n what_o profit_n be_v there_o in_o my_o blood_n but_o there_o be_v profit_n in_o the_o blood_n of_o christ_n and_o with_o respect_n to_o that_o this_o ordinance_n be_v provide_v in_o the_o church_n that_o the_o people_n of_o god_n attend_v thereon_o according_a to_o his_o institution_n may_v come_v to_o be_v make_v partaker_n of_o the_o virtue_n and_o benefit_n thereof_o have_v the_o remission_n of_o their_o sin_n thereby_o seal_v up_o to_o their_o conscience_n through_o faith_n in_o that_o blood_n the_o like_a instance_n may_v i_o give_v of_o prayer_n and_o the_o rest_n of_o those_o holy_a ordinance_n which_o god_n have_v set_v up_o in_o his_o church_n but_o i_o will_v prayer_n name_v no_o more_o lest_o i_o be_v prevent_v only_o by_o the_o way_n consider_v this_o most_o unworthy_o do_v we_o deal_v with_o god_n with_o preach_v with_o the_o sacrament_n and_o with_o all_o these_o holy_a ordinance_n if_o so_o be_v we_o do_v not_o reap_v profit_n and_o benefit_n by_o they_o a_o soul_n that_o live_v unprofitable_o under_o the_o dispensation_n of_o these_o do_v but_o vain_a take_v the_o name_n of_o god_n in_o vain_a every_o time_n we_o come_v to_o hear_v the_o word_n preach_v and_o to_o attend_v upon_o the_o sacrament_n and_o go_v away_o from_o they_o no_o better_a than_o we_o be_v when_o we_o come_v to_o they_o we_o take_v the_o name_n of_o god_n in_o vain_a and_o deal_v unworthy_o with_o these_o holy_a thing_n they_o be_v give_v to_o profit_n with_o and_o we_o shall_v but_o increase_v our_o own_o guiltiness_n if_o
surviver_n and_o attendant_n upon_o this_o sad_a occasion_n but_o in_o these_o administration_n he_o intend_v his_o people_n profit_n as_o we_o may_v see_v in_o the_o case_n of_o job_n the_o lord_n be_v a_o wise_a father_n and_o in_o all_o his_o dispensation_n to_o his_o child_n though_o they_o seem_v for_o the_o present_a unpleasant_a he_o have_v a_o aim_n at_o their_o profit_n let_v this_o fruit_n of_o it_o be_v not_o so_o much_o pore_v upon_o the_o affliction_n and_o altogether_o complain_v of_o the_o bitterness_n of_o the_o cup_n but_o follow_v on_o after_o the_o profit_n and_o benefit_n that_o god_n intend_v you_o thereby_o and_o let_v every_o one_o labour_n to_o improve_v all_o administration_n of_o god_n to_o this_o purpose_n that_o as_o he_o in_o they_o all_o intend_v profit_n be_v his_o pleasure_n let_v we_o therefore_o walk_v worthy_a of_o such_o a_o father_n of_o such_o a_o master_n and_o see_v he_o intend_v our_o profit_n and_o that_o we_o can_v profit_v he_o let_v we_o labour_n to_o walk_v in_o all_o well-pleasing_a we_o can_v profit_v he_o let_v we_o labour_n to_o please_v he_o last_o here_o be_v a_o word_n of_o instruction_n for_o minister_n we_o shall_v 2._o in_o this_o case_n as_o those_o that_o be_v entrust_v with_o the_o sacred_a ordinance_n of_o god_n labour_v to_o put_v on_o the_o mind_n of_o god_n so_o the_o apostle_n we_o have_v say_v he_o the_o mind_n of_o christ._n we_o in_o the_o course_n of_o our_o ministry_n as_o god_n aim_v at_o his_o people_n profit_n so_o shall_v we_o not_o aim_n at_o our_o own_o praise_n and_o at_o our_o profit_v by_o they_o but_o that_o we_o may_v profit_v their_o soul_n o_o bless_a preach_a when_o people_n profit_n by_o our_o preach_n when_o they_o be_v by_o that_o increase_v in_o knowledge_n in_o love_n in_o faith_n in_o every_o grace_n such_o a_o preacher_n be_v saint_n paul_n i_o please_v all_o man_n say_v he_o 1_o cor._n 10._o ult_n but_o how_o not_o seek_v my_o own_o profit_n but_o the_o profit_n of_o many_o that_o they_o may_v be_v save_v oh_o 33._o labour_n to_o preach_v profitable_o that_o our_o people_n may_v thrive_v under_o our_o ministry_n this_o be_v that_o which_o god_n aim_v at_o and_o this_o be_v that_o which_o we_o shall_v aim_v at_o too_o and_o thus_o i_o have_v do_v with_o the_o first_o and_o more_o general_a proposition_n arise_v from_o the_o word_n of_o text._n i_o come_v now_o to_o the_o second_o and_o more_o particular_a thing_n that_o we_o be_v to_o consider_v hence_o and_o that_o be_v that_o as_o god_n gracious_o set_v himself_o to_o procure_v his_o people_n profit_n in_o all_o profit_n his_o administration_n so_o this_o be_v that_o he_o aim_v at_o in_o all_o the_o affliction_n and_o chastisement_n he_o exercise_v they_o withal_o it_o be_v no_o pleasure_n for_o he_o to_o be_v lash_v and_o whip_v his_o people_n to_o hold_v they_o under_o such_o sharp_a discipline_n it_o be_v for_o the_o profit_n of_o his_o child_n so_o the_o text_n express_v it_o but_o he_o for_o our_o profit_n which_o first_o of_o all_o imply_v that_o affliction_n and_o chastisement_n be_v a_o mean_n conduce_v to_o the_o profit_n of_o those_o that_o undergo_v they_o a_o point_n plain_a in_o the_o text_n and_o the_o scripture_n abundant_a in_o the_o proof_n of_o it_o and_o the_o experience_n of_o the_o saint_n in_o a_o plentiful_a manner_n confirm_v it_o it_o be_v good_a for_o i_o say_v david_n that_o i_o have_v be_v afflict_v and_o joseph_n give_v this_o honourable_a testimony_n of_o god_n the_o lord_n say_v he_o have_v cause_v i_o to_o be_v fruitful_a in_o the_o
