day_n be_v good_a yet_o he_o say_v only_o that_o it_o be_v good_a he_o say_v not_o that_o it_o be_v goodness_n it_o be_v good_a enough_o in_o his_o kind_n for_o service_n but_o not_o for_o happiness_n but_o the_o seven_o day_n he_o cease_v both_o from_o creation_n and_o this_o consideration_n of_o the_o good_a creature_n and_o withdraweth_a himself_o into_o himself_o he_o return_v from_o without_o to_o the_o enjoy_n of_o himself_o &_o his_o own_o rest_n and_o to_o the_o contemplation_n of_o this_o rest_n enjoy_v and_o there_o only_o he_o find_v &_o pronounce_v to_o be_v perfect_a holiness_n and_o perfect_a blessedness_n to_o make_v this_o know_v unto_o man_n god_n take_v this_o seven_o day_n wherein_o he_o retire_v to_o his_o rest_n and_o imprint_n on_o it_o the_o quality_n of_o his_o rest_n holiness_n and_o blessedness_n that_o the_o holiness_n and_o blessedness_n of_o that_o day_n may_v be_v a_o pattern_n to_o we_o of_o the_o holiness_n and_o blessedness_n which_o be_v in_o god_n that_o we_o read_v therein_o the_o blessedness_n of_o god_n may_v set_v our_o whole_a heart_n &_o desire_n thereon_o and_o read_v therein_o the_o holiness_n of_o god_n may_v fit_v ourselves_o by_o holiness_n to_o his_o holiness_n which_o as_o it_o be_v inseparable_a from_o happiness_n in_o god_n so_o must_v it_o be_v also_o in_o all_o that_o will_v see_v good_a for_o nothing_o contrary_a or_o unlike_a to_o god_n may_v approach_v unto_o he_o thus_o the_o seven_o day_n crown_v by_o the_o employment_n of_o that_o day_n &_o the_o other_o six_o day_n leave_v unblessed_a by_o the_o work_n of_o those_o day_n by_o a_o manifest_a difference_n point_n unto_o we_o that_o the_o end_n and_o happiness_n of_o man_n be_v not_o to_o be_v seek_v in_o the_o work_n of_o the_o six_o day_n but_o in_o the_o bless_a holiness_n and_o holy_a blessedness_n of_o the_o seven_o and_o to_o the_o same_o truth_n the_o order_n of_o creation_n do_v likewise_o invite_v us._n for_o all_o creature_n be_v first_o make_v man_n be_v make_v after_o creature_n and_o so_o set_v before_o they_o as_o their_o end_n to_o who_o they_o shall_v look_v &_o who_o they_o shall_v serve_v but_o man_n be_v thus_o place_v as_o the_o joy_n glorious_a and_o unspeakable_a a_o harmony_n &_o peace_n with_o god_n which_o pass_v all_o understanding_n hence_o come_v those_o vehement_a pang_n and_o expression_n of_o love_n &_o joy_n utter_v by_o the_o spouse_n of_o christ_n and_o pen_v by_o the_o wise_a of_o man_n which_o flesh_n know_v not_o how_o to_o understand_v but_o by_o the_o flesh_n but_o the_o spiritual_a man_n that_o discern_v all_o thing_n full_o discern_v and_o relish_v they_o as_o spiritual_a truth_n from_o the_o sound_n of_o this_o harmony_n come_v those_o dance_n and_o exultation_n of_o many_o of_o the_o son_n of_o god_n who_o for_o this_o joy_n of_o heart_n have_v dance_v before_o he_o who_o have_v fill_v they_o with_o joy_n but_o then_o flesh_n and_o blood_n see_v only_o the_o dance_n and_o not_o hear_v the_o music_n mock_v and_o despise_v the_o effect_n whereof_o it_o see_v not_o the_o cause_n but_o the_o beholder_n of_o heart_n know_v these_o motion_n of_o the_o heart_n to_o be_v chief_o reasonable_a and_o therefore_o principal_o allow_v they_o and_o indeed_o how_o shall_v they_o not_o be_v approve_v since_o this_o joy_n be_v from_o the_o best_a and_o this_o joy_n be_v in_o the_o perceive_v towards_o god_n who_o before_o be_v regard_v as_o a_o stranger_n but_o now_o as_o a_o father_n who_o now_o be_v the_o end_n and_o rule_v of_o our_o conversation_n but_o before_o be_v put_v far_o below_o the_o satisfaction_n of_o lust_n and_o concupiscence_n and_o from_o this_o union_n &_o the_o feel_n of_o this_o union_n proceed_v both_o that_o strength_n of_o christian_n that_o the_o gate_n of_o hell_n can_v prevail_v against_o they_o and_o that_o strong_a confidence_n that_o if_o god_n kill_v they_o yet_o they_o will_v trust_v in_o he_o and_o why_o they_o be_v assure_v that_o god_n be_v with_o they_o and_o then_o they_o be_v also_o as_o much_o assure_v that_o if_o god_n be_v with_o they_o nothing_o can_v be_v against_o they_o except_o it_o be_v to_o be_v conquer_v by_o they_o for_o he_o that_o be_v in_o we_o be_v strong_a than_o he_o or_o all_o they_o that_o be_v in_o the_o world_n to_o this_o union_n with_o god_n we_o may_v add_v another_o union_n with_o the_o son_n of_o god_n the_o first_o be_v the_o union_n of_o a_o father_n and_o a_o child_n and_o this_o be_v a_o union_n of_o brethren_n for_o it_o be_v a_o spiritual_a brotherhood_n every_o son_n of_o god_n have_v all_o god_n son_n to_o his_o brother_n and_o as_o many_o brother_n so_o many_o friend_n so_o many_o lover_n so_o many_o helper_n so_o many_o that_o rejoice_v in_o his_o comfort_n so_o many_o that_o bewail_v his_o trouble_n so_o many_o to_o encourage_v he_o stand_v so_o many_o to_o raise_v he_o be_v fall_v so_o many_o to_o advise_v he_o in_o doubt_n so_o many_o to_o relieve_v he_o in_o necessity_n in_o sum_n the_o true_a child_n of_o god_n ever_o be_v and_o still_o be_v of_o one_o heart_n and_o mind_n love_v and_o belove_a they_o account_v themselves_o as_o one_o &_o therefore_o no_o part_n of_o this_o unity_n can_v lack_v what_o the_o other_o part_n thereof_o enjoy_v he_o that_o be_v a_o son_n have_v in_o he_o this_o love_n and_o he_o that_o have_v not_o this_o love_n in_o he_o be_v not_o a_o son_n for_o he_o must_v needs_o love_v his_o spiritual_a kindred_n who_o be_v spiritual_o beget_v he_o must_v needs_o love_v they_o because_o of_o unity_n because_o of_o uniformity_n because_o of_o purity_n and_o because_o the_o spirit_n which_o beget_v he_o be_v the_o spirit_n of_o love._n and_o as_o we_o have_v a_o interest_n in_o our_o brethren_n so_o have_v we_o in_o their_o prayer_n they_o still_o commend_v we_o to_o god_n and_o many_o time_n when_o our_o own_o deadness_n of_o heart_n do_v slack_v the_o hand_n of_o god_n towards_o we_o their_o not_o a_o bare_a imagination_n that_o make_v way_n for_o this_o kingdom_n but_o a_o affiance_n of_o the_o heart_n which_o actual_o and_o effectual_o surrender_v we_o up_o to_o his_o sceptre_n and_o rule_n therefore_o the_o best_a way_n be_v hereby_o to_o get_v he_o first_o into_o thou_o and_o after_o to_o believe_v he_o be_v thou_o many_o have_v lose_v christ_n because_o not_o have_v he_o they_o think_v they_o have_v he_o for_o they_o seek_v not_o he_o who_o they_o think_v they_o have_v and_o so_o lose_v he_o who_o be_v find_v by_o seek_v but_o on_o the_o other_o side_n if_o thou_o have_v feel_v the_o depth_n of_o this_o faith_n though_o in_o a_o narrow_a breadth_n know_v that_o christ_n be_v thou_o for_o who_o thou_o have_v cease_v to_o be_v thy_o own_o as_o much_o as_o thou_o have_v go_v out_o of_o thyself_o to_o possess_v he_o so_o much_o have_v he_o enter_v into_o thou_o to_o posesse_v thou_o so_o much_o as_o thou_o leave_v to_o christ_n &_o yielde_v thyself_o to_o the_o renew_v ing_z of_o his_o spirit_n so_o much_o do_v thou_o knit_v christ_n unto_o thou_o and_o so_o much_o thou_o draw_v yea_o suck_v his_o spirit_n into_o the_o innermost_a part_n of_o thy_o soul_n he_o we_o must_v deal_v with_o he_o as_o with_o a_o physician_n now_o to_o be_v cure_v by_o a_o physician_n it_o be_v not_o enough_o only_a to_o believe_v that_o the_o physician_n can_v cure_v we_o nor_o that_o he_o will_v cure_v we_o but_o this_o confidence_n in_o the_o physician_n must_v work_v in_o we_o a_o willingness_n and_o resolution_n to_o take_v and_o admit_v his_o receipt_n by_o which_o he_o may_v cure_v us._n even_o so_o it_o be_v between_o christ_n and_o our_o sick_a soul_n it_o be_v not_o enough_o bare_o to_o think_v that_o christ_n can_v cure_v we_o or_o that_o he_o will_v cure_v we_o but_o our_o belief_n must_v open_v the_o mouth_n of_o our_o soul_n to_o receive_v his_o medicine_n give_v we_o in_o the_o cup_n of_o salvation_n this_o cup_n of_o salvation_n be_v the_o spirit_n by_o which_o he_o communicate_v to_o we_o his_o redemption_n his_o holiness_n his_o eternity_n therefore_o must_v we_o so_o believe_v that_o we_o receive_v christ_n for_o such_o only_a as_o receive_v he_o have_v the_o prerogative_n to_o be_v the_o son_n of_o god_n so_o must_v we_o believe_v that_o we_o be_v baptize_v with_o the_o holy_a ghost_n for_o those_o only_o who_o be_v so_o baptize_v shall_v be_v save_v and_o if_o we_o thus_o believe_v he_o who_o never_o send_v away_o any_o uncured_a of_o their_o corporal_a infirmity_n that_o seek_v he_o here_o on_o earth_n sure_o he_o will_v not_o deny_v his_o save_a health_n to_o any_o believe_a soul_n that_o thus_o hearty_o thirst_v after_o he_o sit_v in_o heaven_n for_o the_o spiritual_a physic_n be_v christ_n true_a &_o most_o proper_a profession_n and_o the_o cure_n of_o body_n be_v especial_o to_o draw_v our_o faith_n thereby_o to_o behold_v believe_v &_o receive_v his_o cure_n of_o soul_n therefore_o especial_o you_o sick_a soul_n be_v of_o good_a comfort_n for_o you_o the_o master_n call_v especial_o but_o when_o you_o come_v to_o he_o remember_v that_o you_o desire_v to_o be_v cure_v of_o the_o whole_a spiritual_a malady_n even_o of_o sin_n and_o of_o sinfulness_n of_o the_o corruption_n of_o sin_n as_o well_o as_o of_o the_o guilt_n and_o misery_n that_o follow_v it_o for_o christ_n will_v enter_v into_o none_o to_o cure_v the_o death_n of_o sin_n but_o withal_o he_o will_v give_v death_n unto_o sin_n neither_o will_v he_o by_o his_o spirit_n give_v any_o one_o the_o life_n of_o glory_n to_o who_o by_o the_o same_o spirit_n he_o do_v not_o first_o give_v the_o life_n of_o piety_n chap._n ii_o how_o a_o man_n may_v get_v this_o faculty_n which_o unit_v man_n to_o god_n but_o man_n be_v brutish_a and_o sensual_a both_o in_o understanding_n &_o will_n and_o so_o it_o be_v impossible_a for_o he_o while_o he_o be_v such_o to_o discern_v a_o spiritual_a happiness_n and_o the_o mean_n of_o attain_v it_o and_o much_o more_o hard_a it_o be_v to_o esteem_v and_o love_v the_o one_o or_o other_o he_o believe_v that_o which_o he_o see_v &_o he_o love_v that_o which_o he_o taste_v and_o feel_v but_o his_o gross_a palate_n do_v not_o relish_v this_o celestial_a and_o unpalpable_a happiness_n therefore_o man_n must_v be_v lift_v up_o above_o this_o low_a estate_n of_o sensual_a and_o carnal_a knowledge_n and_o to_o effect_v this_o there_o need_v a_o second_o hand_n of_o the_o first_o
impose_v a_o necessity_n on_o he_o to_o love_v the_o one_o and_o hate_v the_o other_o to_o lose_v the_o one_o and_o to_o gain_v the_o other_o therefore_o as_o much_o as_o we_o retain_v of_o this_o corrupt_a felicity_n so_o much_o do_v we_o abate_v of_o true_a happiness_n and_o the_o room_n that_o be_v give_v to_o the_o one_o be_v deny_v to_o the_o other_o and_o sure_o too_o true_a it_o be_v that_o even_o after_o our_o regeneration_n there_o abide_v a_o great_a remnant_n of_o our_o proud_a corruption_n it_o be_v of_o kin_n to_o the_o serpent_n which_o persuade_v it_o when_o the_o head_n of_o it_o be_v break_v in_o piece_n the_o tail_n will_v still_o be_v move_v and_o in_o what_o degree_n this_o corruption_n remain_v in_o that_o degree_n be_v grace_v abate_v but_o in_o what_o degree_n this_o swell_a evil_n be_v abate_v in_o the_o same_o degree_n be_v grace_n increase_v therefore_o if_o we_o be_v much_o proud_a we_o be_v much_o graceless_a if_o we_o be_v much_o humble_a we_o be_v much_o gracious_a wherefore_o let_v we_o take_v up_o humility_n which_o as_o a_o corrosive_n will_v fret_v away_o the_o proud_a flesh_n &_o make_v way_n for_o the_o prosperity_n of_o the_o lively_a without_o god_n the_o more_o weak_o &_o wretched_o he_o stand_v and_o the_o full_a man_n be_v of_o himself_o the_o full_a be_v he_o of_o corruption_n vanity_n and_o misery_n therefore_o desire_v he_o to_o go_v out_o of_o himself_o into_o god_n &_o to_o unlade_v himself_o of_o himself_o that_o he_o may_v be_v fill_v with_o god_n he_o purge_v his_o heart_n of_o the_o tree_n of_o false_a knowledge_n that_o he_o may_v satiate_v it_o with_o the_o tree_n of_o life_n and_o humility_n have_v thus_o fulfil_v her_o work_n then_o enter_v grace_n into_o the_o soul_n so_o sweep_v and_o trim_v for_o the_o same_o god_n who_o resist_v the_o proud_a give_v grace_n to_o the_o humble_a god_n will_v be_v a_o welcome_a and_o not_o a_o fulsome_a guest_n he_o love_v not_o to_o come_v when_o there_o be_v no_o need_n of_o he_o he_o desire_v not_o to_o thrust_v unnecessary_a happiness_n upon_o man_n sufficient_o happy_a but_o the_o hungry_a soul_n he_o fill_v with_o good_a thing_n he_o guide_v the_o meek_a &_o humble_a in_o his_o way_n and_o the_o poor_a in_o spirit_n be_v allow_v only_o to_o receive_v the_o gospel_n these_o have_v set_v open_a their_o door_n to_o the_o king_n of_o glory_n they_o have_v forget_v their_o father_n house_n even_o their_o natural_a condition_n and_o therefore_o the_o lord_n have_v pleasure_n in_o their_o beauty_n his_o light_n take_v pleasure_n yea_o get_v glory_n in_o come_v into_o confess_a darkness_n his_o grace_n be_v delight_v and_o magnify_v by_o pardon_v and_o sanctify_v a_o acknowledge_a corruption_n and_o his_o blessedness_n rejoice_v in_o blessing_n apparent_a and_o desperate_a misery_n wherefore_o let_v we_o strive_v for_o a_o practical_a skill_n of_o this_o profitable_a humility_n that_o by_o not_o love_v ourselves_o we_o may_v love_v our_o soul_n best_o &_o by_o the_o great_a emptiness_n we_o may_v purchase_v the_o most_o true_a &_o happy_a fullness_n to_o this_o end_n let_v we_o ever_o be_v prick_v the_o tumor_n of_o our_o nature_n that_o we_o die_v not_o of_o a_o spiritual_a timpany_n let_v we_o strive_v to_o make_v ourselves_o nothing_o that_o he_o which_o make_v all_o thing_n of_o nothing_o may_v make_v something_o of_o us._n let_v we_o willing_o walk_v down_o into_o the_o vale_n of_o humility_n from_o whence_o god_n call_v for_o all_o who_o he_o exalt_v up_o to_o his_o holy_a mountain_n and_o for_o the_o furtherance_n of_o this_o holy_a virtue_n let_v watchfulness_n undertake_v as_o a_o special_a part_n of_o this_o task_n to_o mark_v the_o first_o swell_n of_o the_o heart_n that_o they_o may_v be_v abate_v as_o
