after_o spiritual_a thing_n and_o beside_o these_o be_v petition_v for_o in_o the_o first_o place_n before_o worldly_a thing_n to_o note_v that_o the_o thing_n of_o the_o world_n shall_v be_v subservient_fw-fr to_o spiritual_a thing_n these_o be_v four_o rule_n which_o if_o you_o observe_v you_o will_v not_o use_v the_o world_n abusive_o and_o thus_o i_o have_v go_v over_o the_o doctrinal_a part_n of_o this_o subject_a i_o shall_v only_o speak_v a_o word_n or_o two_o by_o way_n of_o application_n and_o so_o have_v do_v use_v 1._o be_v it_o so_o that_o we_o ought_v not_o to_o abuse_v the_o lawful_a comfort_n of_o this_o life_n then_o by_o way_n of_o reproof_n this_o doctrine_n lay_v from_o god_n a_o just_a blame_n and_o rebuke_v upon_o all_o those_o that_o do_v abuse_v the_o thing_n of_o this_o world_n it_o be_v lawful_a foreman_n to_o eat_v and_o drink_v and_o enjoy_v the_o comfort_n of_o this_o life_n but_o you_o must_v not_o abuse_v they_o to_o excess_n to_o of_o the_o world_n my_o great_a request_n therefore_o be_v that_o you_o will_v use_v the_o world_n as_o not_o abuse_v of_o it_o and_o to_o prevail_v with_o you_o herein_o i_o shall_v lay_v before_o you_o several_a consideration_n but_o the_o time_n be_v now_o past_a i_o shall_v reserve_v they_o to_o another_o time_n serm._n fourteen_o 1_o cor._n 7.31_o and_o they_o that_o use_v this_o world_n use_v it_o not_o then_o belove_v take_v these_o few_o caution_n along_o with_o you_o caution_n caution_n 1._o if_o you_o must_v not_o abuse_v worldly_a thing_n then_o much_o more_o ought_v you_o to_o take_v heed_n that_o you_o do_v not_o abuse_v spiritual_a thing_n in_o your_o use_n of_o they_o you_o must_v be_v careful_a that_o your_o practice_n be_v answerable_a to_o your_o profession_n and_o not_o profess_v much_o and_o practice_v little_a do_v not_o make_v religion_n a_o cloak_n to_o impiety_n you_o use_v to_o come_v to_o church_n and_o frequent_v the_o ordinance_n of_o god_n but_o take_v heed_n that_o you_o do_v not_o abuse_v this_o practice_n and_o make_v it_o a_o cloak_n to_o cover_v some_o secret_a villainy_n or_o impiety_n do_v not_o abuse_v the_o word_n of_o god_n nor_o use_v thy_o tongue_n to_o scoff_n and_o jeer_v at_o the_o scripture_n do_v not_o abuse_v your_o gift_n nor_o grace_n nor_o contemn_v and_o despise_v those_o that_o want_v they_o if_o a_o man_n be_v careful_a not_o to_o abuse_v a_o iron_n tool_n or_o instrument_n he_o will_v be_v much_o more_o careful_a that_o he_o do_v not_o abuse_v a_o silver_n or_o a_o golden_a one_o if_o you_o must_v not_o abuse_v thing_n of_o a_o inferior_a and_o base_a nature_n then_o much_o more_o shall_v you_o not_o abuse_v thing_n of_o a_o high_a and_o more_o excellent_a nature_n if_o you_o must_v not_o abuse_v worldly_a thing_n then_o much_o less_o spiritual_a thing_n therefore_o abuse_v not_o ordinance_n abuse_v not_o sacrament_n nor_o sermon_n nor_o the_o mean_n of_o grace_n by_o live_v unfruitful_o and_o unprofitable_o under_o they_o 2._o take_v this_o caution_n that_o these_o advice_n of_o the_o apostle_n to_o weep_v as_o if_o we_o weep_v not_o &_o to_o rejoice_v as_o if_o we_o rejoice_v not_o &_o to_o buy_v as_o if_o we_o possess_v not_o be_v not_o to_o be_v extend_v to_o any_o spiritual_a performance_n but_o only_o to_o outward_a thing_n the_o apostle_n do_v not_o bid_v you_o weep_v for_o sin_n as_o if_o you_o weep_v not_o neither_o do_v he_o bid_v you_o rejoice_v in_o god_n and_o christ_n as_o if_o you_o rejoice_v not_o nor_o do_v he_o bid_v you_o use_v spiritual_a thing_n as_o if_o you_o use_v they_o not_o and_o buy_v the_o thing_n of_o god_n as_o if_o you_o possess_v not_o there_o be_v many_o man_n that_o in_o the_o use_n of_o worldly_a thing_n will_v rejoice_v as_o if_o they_o be_v make_v up_o of_o nothing_o but_o joy_n and_o mirth_n and_o as_o if_o all_o their_o bliss_n &_o happiness_n do_v consist_v in_o these_o outward_a comfort_n and_o many_o there_o be_v that_o can_v almost_o dissolve_v into_o tear_n for_o outward_a loss_n trouble_n or_o affliction_n but_o when_o they_o come_v to_o rejoice_v in_o spiritual_a thing_n they_o can_v then_o rejoice_v as_o if_o they_o rejoice_v not_o and_o in_o mourning_n for_o sin_n they_o can_v weep_v as_o if_o they_o weep_v not_o and_o use_v the_o thing_n of_o god_n as_o if_o they_o use_v they_o not_o oh_o how_o opposite_a and_o contrary_a do_v man_n go_v to_o the_o rule_n of_o the_o bless_a apostle_n here_o they_o can_v pray_v as_o if_o they_o pray_v not_o they_o do_v not_o pray_v even_o while_o they_o be_v a_o pray_v man_n
