give_v they_o the_o light_n of_o his_o gospel_n he_o will_v still_o teach_v they_o and_o keep_v they_o in_o the_o faith_n till_o the_o day_n of_o the_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n and_o moreover_o that_o by_o this_o teach_n and_o keep_v of_o they_o in_o the_o faith_n he_o will_v make_v they_o fit_a and_o ready_a for_o the_o day_n of_o the_o lord_n so_o much_o for_o the_o first_o point_n namely_o that_o this_o particle_n which_o here_o be_v speak_v of_o till_z be_v so_o use_v in_o this_o same_o sense_n that_o we_o do_v now_o speak_v of_o it_o elsewhere_o in_o scripture_n second_o we_o be_v to_o show_v what_o inducement_n be_v there_o to_o prove_v that_o it_o be_v so_o use_v here_o why_o the_o circumstance_n of_o the_o text_n afford_v it_o clear_o these_o word_n that_o i_o have_v here_o lamp_n these_o be_v common_a both_o to_o the_o foolish_a and_o to_o the_o wise_a the_o oil_n they_o have_v in_o their_o lamp_n be_v the_o inward_a grace_n of_o god_n spirit_n in_o their_o heart_n faith_n and_o repentance_n and_o such_o like_a and_o these_o only_a the_o wise_a virgin_n have_v the_o foolish_a have_v none_o at_o all_o all_o these_o virgin_n they_o go_v forth_o to_o meet_v the_o bridegroom_n as_o in_o the_o first_o verse_n the_o bridegroom_n be_v the_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n the_o come_n of_o the_o bridegroom_n be_v his_o come_n to_o judgement_n and_o so_o their_o meeting_n of_o the_o bridegroom_n it_o be_v their_o fit_v and_o their_o prepare_v of_o themselves_o for_o the_o come_n of_o the_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n unto_o judgement_n well_o than_o you_o see_v all_o these_o virgin_n the_o whole_a visible_a church_n the_o foolish_a as_o well_o as_o the_o wise_a the_o wise_a only_o in_o truth_n the_o foolish_a in_o show_n they_o as_o well_o as_o the_o other_o make_v use_v of_o their_o lamp_n of_o their_o communion_n in_o the_o word_n &_o the_o sacrament_n to_o what_o end_n to_o fit_v they_o to_o christ_n his_o come_n for_o that_o be_v their_o pretence_n the_o wise_a they_o make_v use_v not_o only_o of_o their_o lamp_n but_o also_o of_o their_o oil_n too_o that_o be_v of_o their_o inward_a grace_n to_o what_o end_n to_o fit_v they_o to_o meet_v the_o lord_n jesus_n that_o when_o the_o bridegroom_n do_v come_v they_o may_v be_v ready_a to_o enter_v in_o with_o he_o the_o case_n you_o see_v be_v very_o clear_a all_o the_o duty_n of_o religion_n
be_v presume_v to_o be_v so_o too_o and_o indeed_o it_o be_v the_o special_a reach_n of_o the_o evangelist_n here_o to_o show_v their_o care_n in_o public_a and_o common_a exercise_n here_o be_v the_o duty_n which_o they_o do_v perform_v which_o be_v the_o first_o part_n of_o the_o verse_n the_o second_o part_n be_v their_o carriage_n in_o the_o performance_n of_o these_o duty_n they_o continue_v in_o they_o our_o translation_n come_v far_o short_a of_o the_o force_n of_o the_o original_a for_o that_o signify_v not_o only_o that_o they_o continue_v in_o they_o though_o that_o be_v a_o great_a commendation_n but_o that_o they_o continue_v in_o they_o with_o much_o diligence_n and_o with_o strong_a patience_n they_o do_v not_o as_o many_o of_o we_o do_v intermit_v they_o at_o their_o own_o pleasure_n and_o use_v they_o as_o their_o own_o case_n of_o worldly_a business_n will_v give_v they_o leave_v but_o they_o continue_v with_o much_o diligence_n all_o other_o thing_n lay_v by_o to_o as_o i_o show_v before_o the_o right_a form_n of_o a_o true_a visible_a church_n in_o these_o professor_n we_o may_v see_v here_o what_o a_o glorious_a form_n of_o a_o true_a visible_a church_n be_v here_o present_v unto_o we_o so_o much_o of_o the_o reach_n of_o the_o holy_a ghost_n and_o of_o the_o part_n and_o meaning_n of_o these_o word_n now_o we_o will_v proceed_v to_o the_o observation_n practice_n of_o religious_a duty_n hence_o the_o observation_n be_v this_o namely_o that_o it_o be_v or_o must_v be_v the_o practice_n of_o all_o true_a professor_n of_o religion_n to_o be_v daily_o conversant_a in_o the_o exercise_n of_o religion_n both_o in_o the_o duty_n of_o the_o first_o and_o second_o table_n piety_n towards_o god_n &_o love_n towards_o man_n both_o these_o be_v here_o specify_v the_o apostle_n doctrine_n break_v of_o bread_n and_o prayer_n and_o their_o continuance_n therein_o be_v duty_n of_o the_o first_o table_n fellowship_n or_o christian_a love_n and_o continuance_n therein_o be_v duty_n of_o the_o second_o table_n the_o whole_a tenure_n of_o the_o book_n of_o god_n both_o in_o the_o old_a and_o new_a testament_n tend_v direct_o to_o the_o proof_n of_o this_o doctrine_n i_o will_v cull_v out_o some_o few_o and_o first_o i_o will_v give_v you_o a_o place_n or_o two_o for_o the_o general_a of_o all_o duty_n together_o both_o of_o the_o first_o justify_v themselves_o and_o their_o own_o stand_n and_o convince_v all_o false_a church_n whatsoever_o as_o a_o straight_a rule_n show_v both_o the_o crookedness_n of_o that_o which_o be_v crooked_a and_o the_o straightness_n of_o that_o which_o be_v straight_o so_o a_o true_a pattern_n of_o a_o true_a visible_a church_n serve_v as_o well_o to_o discover_v the_o falsehood_n of_o a_o false_a
