the_o life_n to_o come_v and_o have_v live_v in_o licentious_a uncleanness_n but_o these_o melancholy_a heretic_n and_o apostate_n usual_o by_o this_o cast_n of_o their_o sadness_n and_o be_v not_o and_o then_o as_o soon_o as_o it_o be_v speak_v somewhat_o within_o they_o say_v now_o thy_o damnation_n be_v seal_v thou_o have_v sin_v against_o the_o holy_a ghost_n there_o be_v no_o hope_n 8_o to_o extremity_n they_o be_v weary_a of_o their_o life_n and_o strong_o follow_v with_o temptation_n to_o make_v away_o themselves_o as_o if_o something_o within_o they_o be_v either_o urge_v they_o either_o to_o drown_v themselves_o or_o cut_v their_o own_o throat_n or_o hang_v themselves_o or_o cast_v themselves_o headlong_o which_o alas_o too_o many_o have_v do_v 13_o and_o if_o they_o escape_v this_o when_o its_o ripe_a they_o become_v quite_o distract_v these_o be_v the_o doleful_a symptom_n and_o effect_n of_o melancholy_a and_o therefore_o how_o desirable_a be_v it_o to_o prevent_v they_o or_o to_o be_v cure_v while_o it_o be_v but_o beginning_n before_o they_o fall_v into_o so_o sad_a a_o state_n and_o here_o it_o be_v necessary_a that_o i_o answer_v the_o doubt_n whether_o such_o person_n be_v possess_v with_o the_o devil_n or_o not_o and_o how_o much_o of_o all_o this_o aforesaid_a be_v from_o he_o and_o i_o must_v tell_v the_o melancholy_a person_n that_o be_v sincere_a that_o the_o knowledge_n of_o the_o devil_n agency_n in_o his_o case_n may_v be_v more_o to_o his_o comfort_n than_o to_o his_o despair_n and_o first_o we_o must_v know_v what_o be_v mean_v by_o satan_n possession_n either_o of_o the_o body_n or_o the_o soul_n it_o be_v not_o mere_o his_o local_a presence_n and_o abide_v in_o a_o man_n that_o be_v call_v his_o possession_n for_o make_v too_o frequent_a motion_n to_o the_o faithful_a but_o he_o possess_v only_o the_o soul_n of_o the_o ungodly_a by_o predominant_a habit_n of_o unbelief_n and_o sensuality_n and_o so_o also_o he_o be_v permit_v by_o god_n to_o inflict_v persecution_n and_o cross_n and_o ordinary_a disease_n on_o the_o just_a but_o when_o he_o be_v god_n executioner_n of_o extraordinary_a plague_n especial_o on_o the_o head_n deprive_v man_n of_o sense_n and_o understanding_n and_o work_v above_o the_o bare_a nature_n of_o the_o disease_n this_o be_v call_v his_o possession_n and_o as_o most_o evil_a motion_n on_o the_o soul_n have_v satan_n for_o their_o father_n and_o our_o own_o heart_n as_o the_o mother_n so_o most_o or_o many_o bodily_a disease_n be_v by_o satan_n permit_v by_o god_n though_o there_o be_v cause_n of_o they_o also_o in_o the_o body_n itself_o and_o when_o our_o own_o miscarriage_n and_o humour_n and_o the_o season_n wether_n and_o accident_n may_v be_v cause_n yet_o satan_n may_v by_o these_o be_v a_o superior_a cause_n
the_o world_n afford_v few_o temptation_n to_o apostasy_n than_o either_o of_o the_o extreme_n as_o 1._o poverty_n suppose_v a_o person_n true_o godly_a in_o a_o poor_a and_o low_a condition_n in_o the_o world_n and_o thence_o by_o consequence_n have_v a_o necessary_a dependence_n upon_o other_o for_o his_o livelihood_n if_o now_o providence_n so_o order_v it_o that_o those_o person_n on_o who_o unalterable_a secret_a decree_n for_o their_o damnation_n accord_n with_o the_o sincerity_n of_o god_n in_o the_o many_o offer_v which_o be_v make_v of_o future_a glory_n it_o be_v true_a suppose_v the_o consideration_n of_o their_o fall_a state_n as_o antecedent_n to_o the_o decree_n it_o be_v goodness_n enough_o that_o any_o be_v choose_v out_o of_o the_o sinful_a mass_n and_o it_o will_v
