it_o become_v carnal_a reason_n in_o a_o man_n that_o be_v carnal_a all_o thing_n be_v impure_a to_o he_o that_o be_v impure_a even_o his_o very_a light_n be_v darkness_n not_o that_o the_o light_n of_o nature_n and_o that_o reason_n which_o be_v a_o part_n of_o the_o image_n of_o god_n be_v in_o itself_o evil_a it_o be_v good_a in_o itself_o but_o the_o vessel_n taint_v it_o those_o that_o have_v great_a part_n of_o learning_n that_o have_v great_a wit_n and_o help_v of_o learning_n as_o much_o as_o may_v be_v what_o do_v they_o they_o trust_v in_o they_o and_o so_o they_o stain_v they_o therefore_o luther_n be_v wont_a to_o say_v good_a work_n be_v good_a but_o to_o trust_v in_o good_a work_n be_v damnable_a so_o nature_n and_o reason_n and_o learning_n they_o be_v good_a in_o themselves_o but_o trust_v in_o they_o they_o become_v carnal_a when_o a_o man_n neglect_v better_a rule_n for_o they_o when_o man_n scorn_v religion_n as_o your_o politician_n usual_o do_v then_o natural_a reason_n in_o regard_n of_o this_o tainture_n it_o become_v carnal_a not_o with_o fleshly_a wisdom_n or_o not_o with_o natural_a wisdom_n as_o it_o be_v a_o

high_a rule_n of_o life_n what_o then_o shall_v become_v of_o a_o christian_a when_o he_o have_v renounce_v that_o guide_n which_o be_v in_o he_o by_o nature_n when_o he_o have_v deny_v his_o wit_n and_o his_o will_n when_o he_o have_v renounce_v a_o bad_a guide_n shall_v he_o have_v no_o guide_n at_o all_o yes_o for_o a_o man_n be_v never_o lawless_a he_o be_v always_o under_o some_o guide_n or_o other_o a_o man_n be_v always_o under_o one_o kingdom_n or_o other_o when_o he_o cease_v to_o be_v under_o the_o kingdom_n of_o satan_n he_o come_v under_o the_o kingdom_n of_o christ_n and_o when_o he_o be_v not_o lead_v by_o the_o flesh_n he_o be_v lead_v by_o the_o spirit_n god_n child_n when_o they_o have_v renounce_v natural_a carnal_a wisdom_n they_o have_v not_o renounce_v all_o supernatural_a manner_n they_o be_v new_a creature_n advance_v to_o a_o high_a rank_n and_o order_n of_o creature_n so_o their_o wisdom_n be_v a_o gracious_a wisdom_n when_o they_o be_v christian_n when_o a_o christian_a have_v renounce_v carnal_a wisdom_n god_n leave_v he_o not_o in_o the_o storm_n in_o the_o world_n as_o a_o ship_n without_o a_o stern_n he_o leave_v he_o not_o as_o have_v no_o pole_n star_n to_o guide_v his_o course_n by_o but_o he_o give_v he_o better_o direction_n he_o have_v the_o word_n of_o god_n he_o have_v the_o spirit_n of_o god_n he_o have_v the_o grace_n of_o god_n to_o guide_v he_o therefore_o after_o the_o negative_a here_o not_o in_o fleshly_a wisdom_n the_o holy_a apostle_n tell_v we_o how_o the_o child_n of_o god_n be_v lead_v in_o his_o own_o person_n but_o by_o the_o grace_n of_o god_n it_o be_v good_a for_o inferior_n always_o to_o be_v under_o the_o government_n of_o superior_n and_o so_o god_n have_v frame_v the_o world_n for_o beast_n because_o they_o have_v no_o wisdom_n of_o their_o own_o they_o be_v lead_v and_o guide_v by_o man_n and_o man_n because_o he_o be_v as_o i_o say_v before_o a_o beast_n by_o his_o own_o knowledge_n and_o have_v but_o a_o finite_a a_o limit_a understanding_n he_o be_v guide_v by_o a_o large_a understanding_n he_o be_v guide_v by_o god_n if_o he_o be_v good_a and_o it_o be_v the_o happiness_n of_o the_o creature_n to_o be_v under_o the_o guidance_n of_o a_o better_a wisdom_n all_o thing_n in_o the_o world_n be_v guide_v to_o their_o end_n thing_n without_o life_n be_v guide_v to_o their_o end_n without_o their_o privity_n we_o see_v there_o be_v a_o end_n in_o every_o thing_n there_o be_v nothing_o in_o nature_n but_o it_o have_v its_o end_n whereupon_o come_v that_o say_n of_o the_o philosopher_n which_o be_v good_a that_o the_o work_n of_o nature_n be_v a_o work_n of_o deep_a understanding_n not_o so_o much_o as_o the_o leaf_n but_o they_o serve_v to_o shelter_v and_o cover_v the_o fruit_n from_o the_o sun_n and_o the_o storm_n that_o it_o may_v thrive_v the_o better_a there_o be_v nothing_o in_o nature_n but_o it_o be_v of_o great_a use_n the_o work_n of_o nature_n be_v a_o work_n of_o deep_a understanding_n now_o man_n because_o he_o have_v a_o principle_n of_o understanding_n in_o himself_o he_o be_v so_o guide_v by_o the_o wisdom_n of_o god_n to_o his_o end_n as_o that_o he_o understand_v his_o own_o end_n himself_o he_o be_v so_o lead_v by_o the_o wisdom_n of_o god_n as_o that_o god_n have_v create_v a_o work_n of_o wisdom_n in_o himself_o that_o he_o together_o with_o god_n be_v carry_v to_o his_o end_n now_o as_o i_o say_v when_o we_o be_v out_o of_o the_o regiment_n and_o government_n of_o the_o flesh_n we_o come_v under_o the_o gracious_a government_n of_o god_n therefore_o the_o apostle_n say_v here_o not_o in_o fleshly_a wisdom_n but_o by_o the_o grace_n of_o god_n the_o holy_a apostle_n mean_v here_o especial_o the_o particular_a grace_n opposite_a to_o wisdom_n fleshly_a wisdom_n that_o be_v spiritual_a wisdom_n but_o why_o shall_v the_o apostle_n here_o not_o say_v thus_o not_o with_o fleshly_a wisdom_n but_o with_o spiritual_a wifdome_n why_o shall_v he_o not_o say_v so_o rather_o than_o thus_o not_o with_o fleshly_a wisdom_n but_o by_o the_o grace_n of_o god_n why_o shall_v he_o put_v grace_n instead_o of_o wisdom_n i_o answer_v he_o do_v it_o for_o heavenly_a end_n grace_n first_o to_o show_v that_o that_o wisdom_n whereby_o we_o be_v govern_v it_o be_v not_o from_o ourselves_o but_o it_o be_v a_o grace_n he_o consider_v wisdom_n not_o so_o much_o as_o it_o be_v in_o ourselves_o in_o the_o conduit_n but_o as_o it_o be_v in_o the_o spring_n in_o the_o free_a love_n of_o god_n it_o be_v a_o divine_a consideration_n to_o consider_v all_o habitual_a grace_n in_o we_o not_o as_o they_o be_v stream_n derive_v to_o we_o and_o rest_v in_o we_o but_o as_o they_o be_v knit_v to_o a_o spring_n which_o be_v never_o draw_v dry_a which_o beside_o be_v a_o free_a spring_n therefore_o they_o be_v grace_n and_o that_o be_v the_o reason_n of_o the_o comfort_n of_o a_o christian_a he_o know_v he_o shall_v never_o be_v destitute_a of_o necessary_a strength_n of_o necessary_a comfort_n of_o necessary_a direction_n and_o grace_n to_o lead_v he_o to_o heaven_n because_o those_o thing_n that_o be_v necessary_a in_o he_o he_o consider_v they_o as_o grace_n not_o as_o habit_n as_o it_o be_v the_o proud_a term_n of_o the_o philosopher_n to_o call_v they_o we_o must_v consider_v they_o not_o as_o thing_n in_o we_o invest_v in_o our_o nature_n but_o as_o thing_n that_o have_v their_o original_a from_o the_o free_a constant_a and_o eternal_a love_n of_o god_n as_o what_o be_v so_o free_a as_o grace_n so_o a_o christian_a look_n on_o his_o disposition_n wrought_v by_o grace_n and_o on_o every_o particular_a grace_n he_o have_v as_o love_n wisdom_n patience_n he_o look_v to_o all_o as_o grace_n as_o they_o come_v from_o the_o free_a love_n of_o god_n that_o be_v constant_a for_o who_o he_o love_v he_o love_v to_o the_o end_n and_o his_o joy_n be_v more_o in_o the_o spring_n then_o in_o the_o stream_n it_o be_v more_o in_o the_o sun_n in_o christ_n himself_o then_o in_o grace_n from_o he_o therefore_o the_o apostle_n instead_o of_o the_o abstract_a distinct_a grace_n of_o wisdom_n or_o any_o such_o thing_n he_o say_v grace_n there_o be_v a_o savour_n in_o the_o very_a term_n of_o scripture_n a_o sweet_a taste_n in_o the_o very_a language_n of_o the_o holy_a ghost_n and_o then_o to_o show_v that_o we_o be_v not_o only_o govern_v by_o wisdom_n but_o by_o other_o grace_n to_o show_v the_o connexion_n of_o it_o with_o other_o grace_n therefore_o he_o grace_n say_v we_o have_v have_v our_o conversation_n not_o in_o fleshly_a wisdom_n but_o by_o the_o grace_n of_o god_n to_o show_v likewise_o that_o where_o wisdom_n fail_v in_o we_o it_o be_v supply_v by_o grace_n for_o the_o wisdom_n of_o god_n for_o we_o be_v large_a than_o the_o wisdom_n of_o god_n grace_n in_o we_o the_o wisdom_n that_o god_n work_v in_o we_o by_o his_o spirit_n it_o teach_v we_o to_o avoid_v danger_n and_o teach_v we_o how_o to_o lead_v our_o life_n but_o we_o be_v lead_v by_o a_o high_a wisdom_n the_o grace_n of_o god_n for_o we_o it_o be_v high_a than_o that_o which_o be_v in_o we_o we_o the_o wisdom_n of_o god_n for_o we_o it_o watch_v over_o we_o it_o keep_v we_o from_o more_o evil_a and_o do_v more_o for_o we_o then_o that_o which_o be_v in_o we_o although_o that_o be_v spiritual_a and_o heavenly_a therefore_o the_o apostle_n here_o he_o name_v not_o distinct_o gracious_a wisdom_n which_o he_o main_o intend_v as_o we_o see_v by_o the_o opposition_n not_o by_o fleshly_a wisdom_n but_o by_o gracious_a wisdom_n why_o do_v he_o not_o say_v so_o but_o by_o grace_n because_o our_o christian_a conversation_n it_o be_v not_o only_o by_o wisdom_n in_o we_o but_o by_o grace_n and_o love_n partly_o in_o we_o and_o partly_o for_o we_o for_o indeed_o there_o be_v a_o watchful_a providence_n there_o be_v a_o wake_a love_n about_o the_o guide_n of_o a_o christian_a in_o his_o course_n to_o heaven_n that_o keep_v he_o he_o in_o more_o than_o any_o grace_n that_o be_v in_o he_o and_o a_o christian_a at_o the_o hour_n of_o death_n and_o at_o the_o day_n of_o judgement_n will_v be_v able_a to_o say_v with_o experience_n that_o the_o wisdom_n of_o god_n for_o i_o have_v be_v more_o than_o any_o wisdom_n he_o wrought_v in_o i_o though_o by_o the_o wisdom_n in_o i_o he_o enable_v i_o to_o discover_v many_o discouragement_n to_o see_v many_o want_n and_o to_o take_v many_o good_a course_n that_o he_o bless_v for_o
