friendship_n if_o you_o will_v not_o suffer_v much_o for_o a_o friend_n nor_o with_o humane_a affection_n if_o you_o will_v not_o suffer_v much_o for_o parent_n or_o child_n or_o your_o country_n so_o that_o your_o will_n be_v free_a though_o your_o sense_n be_v not_o free_a nor_o your_o natural_a appetite_n though_o you_o can_v choose_v but_o feel_v when_o you_o be_v hurt_v you_o may_v consent_v to_o that_o feel_n for_o a_o great_a good_a 2._o and_o according_a to_o the_o tenor_n of_o this_o objection_n you_o may_v as_o wise_o and_o honest_o plead_v for_o most_o of_o the_o wickedness_n of_o the_o world_n and_o say_v it_o be_v natural_a to_o i_o to_o lust_n and_o therefore_o i_o may_v play_v the_o adulterer_n and_o fulfil_v it_o it_o be_v natural_a to_o i_o to_o desire_v meat_n and_o drink_n and_o therefore_o i_o may_v eat_v and_o drink_v as_o long_o as_o i_o desire_v it_o it_o be_v natural_a to_o i_o to_o seek_v to_o hurt_v those_o that_o i_o be_o much_o angry_a with_o or_o hate_v and_o therefore_o i_o may_v beat_v or_o kill_v they_o if_o you_o must_v deny_v the_o passion_n and_o sensitive_a appetite_n and_o the_o inferior_a faculty_n of_o nature_n in_o one_o thing_n why_o not_o in_o another_o these_o low_a power_n be_v make_v to_o be_v rule_v by_o reason_n as_o beast_n be_v make_v to_o be_v rule_v by_o man_n and_o more_o and_o therefore_o see_v this_o argument_n from_o nature_n be_v but_o from_o the_o brutish_a part_n of_o nature_n it_o be_v but_o a_o brutish_a argument_n and_o if_o yet_o you_o say_v that_o for_o all_o these_o word_n death_n be_v so_o great_a a_o enemy_n to_o you_o that_o you_o can_v choose_v it_o i_o answer_v that_o be_v because_o your_o reason_n be_v not_o illuminate_v and_o elevate_v by_o faith_n to_o see_v the_o necessity_n of_o choose_v it_o and_o to_o see_v those_o high_a and_o better_a thing_n which_o by_o this_o mean_v you_o may_v obtain_v have_v you_o that_o heavenly_a life_n of_o faith_n and_o love_n which_o the_o spirit_n work_v in_o the_o saint_n it_o will_v carry_v you_o above_o this_o present_a life_n and_o take_v you_o up_o with_o high_a matter_n and_o show_v you_o that_o and_o so_o show_v it_o you_o as_o shall_v procure_v your_o own_o consent_n to_o die_v but_o because_o this_o be_v the_o great_a point_n that_o christ_n do_v purposely_o here_o try_v our_o self-denial_n by_o and_o a_o point_n of_o hearken_v to_o they_o that_o will_v entice_v i_o to_o it_o so_o that_o the_o deny_v of_o your_o sense_n and_o your_o appetite_n be_v the_o sure_a and_o easy_a way_n to_o prevent_v those_o dreadful_a gripe_n that_o else_o may_v follow_v 3._o moreover_o if_o you_o deny_v not_o your_o sensitive_a appetite_n you_o will_v never_o be_v acquaint_v with_o heavenly_a delight_n the_o soul_n can_v move_v two_o contrary_a way_n at_o once_o towards_o earth_n and_o towards_o heaven_n when_o you_o gaze_v upon_o this_o world_n and_o feed_v your_o appetite_n with_o fleshly_a delight_n you_o have_v no_o heart_n nor_o mind_n to_o the_o delight_n above_o it_o be_v the_o soul_n that_o retire_v from_o creature_n and_o sensual_a object_n that_o be_v free_a for_o god_n and_o ready_a to_o entertain_v the_o motion_n of_o grace_n not_o that_o i_o will_v have_v you_o turn_v hermit_n and_o monk_n and_o forsake_v the_o company_n of_o man_n &_o all_o worldly_a business_n no_o it_o be_v a_o high_a and_o noble_a course_n that_o i_o propound_v to_o you_o even_o in_o the_o midst_n of_o the_o world_n to_o live_v as_o without_o the_o world_n &_o as_o if_o there_o be_v nothing_o before_o you_o for_o sensuality_n to_o seed_n upon_o to_o live_v so_o full_o to_o god_n in_o the_o world_n that_o you_o may_v see_v god_n in_o all_o the_o creature_n and_o converse_v with_o he_o in_o those_o same_o object_n by_o which_o the_o sensual_a be_v turn_v from_o he_o and_o to_o live_v in_o the_o great_a fullness_n of_o all_o thing_n as_o if_o there_o be_v nothing_o but_o penury_n to_o your_o flesh_n and_o see_v god_n in_o all_o and_o use_v all_o for_o god_n and_o deny_v self_n where_o you_o have_v opportunity_n to_o please_v it_o this_o be_v the_o most_o noble_a life_n on_o earth_n but_o if_o you_o find_v that_o you_o can_v attain_v to_o this_o and_o that_o you_o can_v deny_v yourselves_o the_o delight_n of_o earth_n unless_o you_o withdraw_v from_o the_o sight_n of_o the_o object_n do_v so_o and_o spare_v not_o so_o far_o as_o may_v consist_v with_o your_o serviceableness_n to_o god_n and_o humane_a society_n but_o still_o you_o shall_v find_v that_o whether_o earthly_a delight_n be_v present_a or_o absent_a your_o mind_n must_v retire_v from_o that_o which_o do_v allure_v and_o gratify_v the_o flesh_n if_o ever_o you_o will_v enjoy_v communion_n with_o god_n and_o taste_v of_o the_o delight_n of_o a_o heavenly_a conversation_n 4._o and_o by_o please_v your_o sense_n you_o will_v increase_v their_o vicious_a inordinate_a desire_n the_o more_o you_o gratify_v they_o the_o more_o they_o will_v crave_v you_o feed_v your_o disease_n by_o yield_v to_o such_o desire_n but_o never_o think_v to_o quiet_v it_o by_o content_v it_o the_o more_o the_o flesh_n have_v the_o more_o it_o will_v have_v the_o only_a way_n to_o abate_v the_o rage_n of_o sensual_a desire_n be_v to_o deny_v they_o and_o use_v they_o constant_o to_o that_o denial_n the_o safe_a food_n and_o raiment_n be_v that_o which_o best_o strengthen_v and_o furnish_v we_o for_o god_n service_n with_o the_o least_o content_a and_o pleasure_n to_o our_o sensual_a appetite_n and_o desire_n and_o the_o same_o i_o must_v say_v of_o house_n and_o land_n and_o labour_n and_o friend_n and_o all_o the_o creature_n that_o be_v the_o best_a state_n of_o life_n in_o which_o god_n be_v serve_v and_o please_v best_a with_o the_o least_o content_a and_o pleasure_n to_o the_o flesh_n carnal_a delight_n and_o spiritual_a be_v so_o contrary_a the_o one_o so_o drossy_a and_o sordid_a and_o the_o other_o so_o
