and_o constitution_n as_o if_o man_n be_v make_v for_o nothing_o but_o to_o enjoy_v all_o the_o conveniency_n and_o gratify_v all_o the_o appetite_n of_o this_o present_a pitiful_a fleshly_a liâ—e_z inconsistent_a with_o a_o spiritual_a and_o virtuous_a temper_n and_o consequent_o with_o the_o most_o perfect_a and_o happy_a condition_n of_o mankind_n nor_o seem_v it_o much_o to_o be_v hope_v to_o see_v the_o world_n in_o better_a posture_n till_o the_o affair_n thereof_o be_v otherwise_o order_v or_o it_o shall_v please_v god_n more_o immediate_o by_o a_o large_a effusion_n of_o his_o holy_a by_o how_o much_o the_o object_n of_o our_o speculation_n be_v of_o a_o more_o different_a and_o remote_a nature_n from_o god_n as_o be_v all_o corporeal_a thing_n with_o their_o affection_n by_o how_o much_o they_o be_v more_o numerous_a and_o various_a by_o how_o much_o they_o require_v a_o great_a intention_n of_o spirit_n as_o very_o subtle_a and_o profound_a thing_n in_o the_o mathematics_n and_o metaphysic_n so_o much_o the_o more_o still_o do_v they_o draw_v away_o the_o mind_n from_o religion_n and_o piety_n insomuch_o that_o the_o great_a scholar_n be_v not_o always_o the_o best_a men._n it_o be_v true_a indeed_o that_o some_o knowledge_n where_o the_o object_n of_o it_o be_v intellectual_a as_o that_o of_o our_o own_o soul_n and_o the_o mutual_a relation_n and_o respect_n of_o thing_n by_o spiritualize_v our_o mind_n do_v prepare_v and_o dispose_v we_o to_o apprehend_v and_o be_v affect_v with_o god_n but_o then_o also_o by_o more_o vigorous_o employ_v the_o application_n of_o our_o mind_n and_o more_o intense_o please_v they_o it_o perhaps_o more_o effectual_o detain_v and_o withhold_v we_o from_o piety_n than_o our_o converse_n with_o sensible_a and_o external_a object_n nay_o in_o moral_a and_o religious_a knowledge_n itself_o it_o be_v not_o only_o possible_a but_o i_o believe_v very_o frequent_a for_o man_n to_o be_v so_o inordinate_o and_o immoderate_o please_v take_v and_o in_o love_n with_o the_o mere_a knowledge_n or_o speculation_n of_o the_o object_n thereof_o as_o to_o have_v very_o little_a care_n esteem_v and_o love_n for_o those_o who_o hate_n or_o despise_v piety_n and_o all_o religious_a duty_n towards_o god_n be_v vicious_a and_o debauch_a person_n these_o do_v it_o often_o partly_o because_o of_o their_o dulness_n
