providence_n but_o as_o they_o be_v irregular_a and_o inordinate_a excessive_a and_o immoderate_a and_o destroy_v those_o end_n for_o which_o god_n intend_v they_o so_o far_o they_o be_v sinful_a and_o when_o any_o of_o those_o natural_a appetite_n or_o sensual_a inclination_n grow_v too_o strong_a and_o unruly_a and_o be_v not_o keep_v under_o the_o government_n of_o reason_n or_o within_o the_o bound_n of_o virtue_n and_o religion_n than_o they_o carry_v man_n to_o all_o looseness_n and_o wickedness_n and_o make_v they_o commit_v sin_n and_o uncleanness_n with_o greediness_n a_o good_a man_n may_v with_o st._n paul_n be_v very_o sensible_a and_o complain_v of_o this_o body_n of_o sin_n and_o of_o death_n and_o of_o the_o law_n of_o sin_n that_o be_v in_o his_o member_n of_o many_o irregular_a appetite_n and_o undue_a passion_n and_o weak_a and_o foolish_a imagination_n and_o unreasonable_a desire_n and_o inclination_n of_o too_o quick_a gust_n of_o sensual_a thing_n and_o too_o much_o deadness_n of_o spiritual_a of_o have_v too_o many_o thought_n and_o design_n for_o earthly_a and_o present_a thing_n and_o too_o little_a zeal_n and_o affection_n for_o thing_n heavenly_a that_o be_v a_o thousand_o time_n more_o valuable_a these_o be_v imperfection_n that_o be_v in_o the_o best_a of_o we_o and_o we_o see_v that_o they_o be_v so_o and_o be_v very_o sensible_a and_o complain_v of_o they_o but_o yet_o we_o can_v whole_o avoid_v they_o but_o after_o all_o our_o thought_n and_o all_o our_o care_n they_o still_o return_v upon_o we_o and_o the_o flesh_n will_v lust_n against_o the_o spirit_n and_o there_o will_v be_v a_o perpetual_a war_n and_o struggle_v between_o they_o but_o if_o the_o spirit_n do_v so_o far_o prevail_v by_o the_o help_n of_o grace_n and_o consideration_n of_o religion_n that_o it_o do_v never_o yield_v to_o any_o wilful_a sin_n it_o shall_v then_o be_v reward_v as_o a_o conqueror_n which_o though_o it_o do_v not_o whole_o subdue_v and_o drive_v out_o that_o homebred_a enemy_n yet_o keep_v it_o always_o under_o and_o make_v it_o submit_v to_o its_o government_n and_o not_o keep_v up_o a_o open_a rebellion_n against_o it_o of_o this_o i_o have_v large_o discourse_v in_o the_o three_o section_n of_o the_o three_o chapter_n i_o proceed_v now_o to_o those_o sin_n which_o be_v know_v wilful_a and_o presumptuous_a habitual_a heaven_n and_o another_o world_n that_o religion_n offer_v to_o we_o and_o think_v it_o more_o desirable_a than_o any_o of_o those_o and_o have_v rather_o gratify_v a_o paltry_a lust_n and_o a_o otherwise_o god_n in_o rigour_n and_o justice_n may_v punish_v and_o condemn_v we_o for_o they_o the_o papist_n hold_v a_o distinction_n between_o sin_n mortal_a and_o venial_a in_o their_o own_o virtue_n be_v so_o perfect_a as_o to_o be_v quite_o sinless_a and_o without_o any_o sin_n of_o what_o kind_n soever_o so_o that_o he_o shall_v not_o be_v oblige_v to_o beg_v pardon_n of_o god_n and_o goodness_n as_o we_o can_v and_o to_o get_v as_o much_o mastery_n over_o all_o our_o imperfection_n and_o infirmity_n as_o be_v possible_a but_o since_o some_o sin_n and_o frailty_n will_v cleave_v to_o we_o whilst_o we_o carry_v this_o body_n of_o sin_n and_o of_o death_n about_o we_o we_o may_v use_v the_o psalmist_n excellent_a prayer_n both_o for_o our_o instruction_n and_o our_o devotion_n psal_n 19.12_o 13._o who_o can_v understand_v his_o error_n cleanse_v thou_o i_o from_o secret_a fault_n keep_v back_o thy_o servant_n also_o from_o presumptuous_a sin_n let_v they_o not_o have_v be_v only_o a_o man_n of_o conduct_n and_o cunning_a whereas_o morality_n be_v found_v upon_o true_a and_o certain_a and_o eternal_a principle_n and_o reason_n of_o virtue_n but_o he_o that_o act_v not_o by_o those_o nor_o any_o principle_n of_o religion_n will_v be_v a_o knave_n for_o his_o interest_n and_o a_o secret_a sinner_n for_o his_o lust_n and_o make_v his_o conscience_n give_v way_n as_o oft_o as_o there_o be_v occasion_n to_o his_o convenience_n or_o inclination_n for_o in_o other_o sin_n which_o the_o custom_n and_o opinion_n of_o the_o world_n have_v not_o make_v so_o infamous_a or_o so_o disadvantageous_a there_o he_o can_v be_v notorious_o guilty_a and_o break_v the_o plain_a rule_n of_o virtue_n and_o religion_n he_o that_o can_v do_v so_o by_o indulge_v himself_o in_o any_o wilful_a sin_n as_o he_o corrupt_v and_o spoil_v all_o his_o other_o seem_a virtue_n by_o make_v they_o to_o be_v base_a bear_v and_o not_o to_o proceed_v from_o a_o religious_a such_o a_o one_o lie_v open_a to_o all_o other_o sin_n and_o may_v for_o the_o same_o reason_n commit_v any_o that_o he_o allow_v himself_o in_o one_o when_o the_o mind_n be_v thus_o prostitute_v and_o debauch_a by_o consent_v to_o any_o one_o particular_a unlawful_a lust_n it_o will_v
grow_v common_a to_o all_o other_o if_o it_o have_v the_o same_o temptation_n to_o invite_v and_o the_o same_o opportunity_n to_o commit_v they_o and_o it_o be_v only_a for_o want_v of_o those_o that_o it_o be_v not_o universal_o lewd_a and_o wicked_a and_o give_v up_o to_o commit_v all_o uncleanness_n with_o greediness_n what_o shall_v hinder_v or_o restrain_v he_o from_o all_o other_o sin_n who_o give_v way_n to_o any_o one_o plain_a and_o great_a one_o if_o he_o be_v assault_v by_o the_o like_a temptation_n in_o any_o other_o place_n he_o will_v yield_v to_o it_o and_o comply_v with_o it_o even_o in_o the_o gross_a manner_n for_o he_o have_v lose_v his_o guard_n and_o the_o security_n of_o his_o virtue_n and_o by_o such_o a_o wide_a and_o open_a breach_n make_v in_o his_o to_o our_o good_a state_n though_o perfection_n of_o obedience_n be_v not_o it_o be_v true_o and_o common_o say_v that_o god_n require_v not_o absolute_a perfection_n of_o we_o but_o only_o true_a sincerity_n because_o the_o best_a man_n can_v attain_v to_o the_o one_o and_o he_o must_v be_v a_o very_a bad_a one_o who_o have_v not_o the_o other_o but_o there_o be_v a_o perfection_n of_o part_n and_o degree_n we_o be_v not_o bind_v to_o the_o high_a degree_n of_o every_o virtue_n in_o order_n to_o a_o state_n of_o grace_n and_o goodness_n but_o we_o be_v to_o have_v such_o a_o perfection_n of_o part_n as_o to_o perform_v every_o duty_n and_o every_o virtue_n require_v of_o we_o and_o to_o be_v without_o every_o wilful_a sin_n contrary_a to_o the_o divine_a law_n for_o less_o than_o displease_v to_o he_o and_o can_v it_o be_v consistent_a with_o the_o faithfulness_n and_o integrity_n of_o friendship_n to_o do_v the_o most_o injurious_a and_o the_o most_o disoblige_a thing_n imaginable_a can_v he_o love_v his_o prince_n or_o the_o government_n where_o he_o live_v who_o endeavour_n in_o any_o thing_n to_o subvert_v and_o destroy_v that_o authority_n by_o a_o open_a stand_v out_o and_o break_v their_o law_n there_o may_v be_v indeed_o a_o personal_a love_n to_o a_o earthly_a prince_n distinct_a from_o obedience_n to_o his_o law_n and_o so_o some_o will_v have_v to_o god_n and_o christ_n for_o he_o may_v be_v capable_a of_o receive_v other_o pledge_n and_o testimony_n of_o it_o and_o may_v be_v many_o other_o way_n oblige_v by_o we_o because_o he_o may_v have_v
