easy_o condescend_v unto_o therefore_o god_n to_o counterbalance_v the_o difficulty_n that_o accompany_v the_o obedience_n of_o these_o two_o commandment_n have_v add_v promise_n to_o they_o the_o more_o to_o encourage_v and_o stir_v up_o to_o the_o obedience_n of_o they_o the_o four_o thing_n we_o will_v take_v notice_n of_o be_v that_o some_o commandment_n have_v threaten_n express_v in_o they_o which_o other_o have_v not_o as_o the_o second_o and_o the_o three_o not_o that_o any_o commandment_n want_v imply_v threaten_n but_o the_o reason_n be_v because_o man_n ordinary_o count_v light_n of_o the_o breach_n of_o these_o two_o commandment_n if_o they_o be_v as_o they_o think_v honest_a at_o the_o heart_n though_o they_o be_v very_o negligent_a and_o careless_a in_o many_o outward_a thing_n and_o though_o in_o the_o manner_n of_o worship_n they_o be_v very_o slight_a and_o perfunctorious_a yet_o if_o it_o be_v to_o the_o true_a god_n they_o think_v the_o less_o of_o it_o and_o so_o also_o man_n be_v give_v to_o count_v very_o light_a of_o reverend_a use_v god_n holy_a name_n therefore_o he_o have_v put_v a_o threaten_n to_o both_o these_o commandment_n to_o make_v man_n know_v he_o will_v not_o so_o easy_o pass_v they_o as_o man_n ofttimes_o imagine_v and_o that_o all_o these_o three_o
first_o or_o last_o day_n of_o the_o feast_n and_o therefore_o if_o the_o lord_n meaning_n be_v that_o they_o shall_v pray_v that_o their_o flight_n may_v not_o be_v on_o any_o of_o the_o jewish_a holy_a day_n to_o mention_v the_o weekly_a sabbath_n only_o will_v not_o be_v sufficient_a for_o that_o end_n to_o say_v that_o it_o be_v for_o fear_n of_o scandal_n that_o they_o shall_v pray_v not_o to_o be_v put_v to_o fly_v will_v not_o remove_v the_o former_a reason_n beside_o at_o that_o time_n the_o apostle_n and_o other_o christian_n have_v give_v up_o with_o the_o jew_n and_o stand_v not_o on_o scandal_n in_o such_o thing_n in_o reference_n to_o they_o on_o who_o as_o the_o apostle_n say_v 1_o thâ—s_n 2._o 16._o wrath_n have_v come_v to_o the_o uttermost_a and_o who_o be_v not_o infirm_a but_o malicious_a and_o so_o in_o respect_n of_o offence_n to_o be_v deal_v with_o as_o the_o lord_n do_v with_o the_o pharisee_n and_o therefore_o all_o thing_n be_v consider_v it_o appear_v from_o our_o lord_n word_n that_o a_o sabbath_n among_o christian_n be_v to_o be_v sanctify_v 40._o year_n or_o thereabouts_o after_o his_o death_n which_o prove_v that_o the_o scripture_n mention_v new_a testament_n they_o be_v all_o alike_o confirm_v when_o the_o law_n in_o general_n be_v speak_v of_o none_o of_o they_o be_v except_v and_o therefore_o this_o command_n be_v necessary_o include_v true_a meaning_n thereof_o which_o from_o the_o beginning_n make_v it_o not_o only_o consistent_a with_o the_o work_n of_o piety_n and_o mercy_n but_o exceed_o helpful_a to_o both_o a_o second_o place_n confirm_v the_o whole_a decalogue_n or_o rather_o assert_v its_o authority_n be_v in_o the_o epistle_n of_o james_n jam._n 2._o 10._o he_o that_o offend_v in_o one_o be_v guilty_a of_o all_o why_o because_o he_o be_v the_o same_o god_n and_o lawgiver_n and_o no_o servant_n nor_o angel_n who_o speak_v they_o all_o one_o as_o well_o as_o another_o of_o they_o and_o it_o be_v clear_a there_o ten_o which_o the_o lord_n speak_v and_o be_v abrogate_a and_o not_o bind_v it_o necessary_o follow_v that_o this_o four_o command_n be_v one_o of_o the_o ten_o must_v be_v of_o equal_a authority_n with_o the_o rest_n it_o may_v be_v note_v also_o that_o james_n here_o do_v not_o as_o neither_o do_v our_o lord_n nor_o any_o of_o his_o apostle_n when_o they_o cite_v the_o law_n give_v new_a authority_n to_o the_o law_n he_o cit_v but_o suppose_v they_o to_o have_v it_o already_o and_o make_v use_v of_o they_o as_o confirmation_n of_o the_o thing_n he_o press_v which_o can_v not_o be_v if_o their_o authority_n depend_v on_o or_o slow_v from_o the_o present_a citation_n of_o they_o three_o we_o reason_v further_o thus_o either_o there_o be_v some_o moral_a duty_n contain_v in_o this_o command_n and_o lay_v on_o by_o it_o which_o be_v not_o in_o any_o of_o the_o former_a or_o there_o be_v but_o some_o ceremonial_a thing_n in_o it_o reducible_a to_o one_o of_o they_o for_o the_o perfection_n of_o this_o law_n require_v that_o all_o thing_n needful_a to_o the_o worship_n of_o god_n shall_v be_v sum_v in_o it_o and_o the_o scope_n thereof_o which_o be_v brief_o to_o compend_v all_o require_v there_o shall_v be_v nothing_o in_o it_o that_o be_v needless_a superfluous_a or_o that_o may_v have_v beeâ—_n leave_v out_o now_o if_o the_o
temple_n be_v build_v tie_v they_o to_o the_o ark_n and_o sometime_o to_o one_o place_n and_o sometime_o to_o another_o as_o it_o be_v remove_v and_o place_v till_o it_o be_v bring_v to_o jerusalem_n but_o after_o the_o temple_n be_v build_v and_o choose_v for_o the_o place_n it_o astricted_a man_n to_o that_o yea_o when_o the_o temple_n be_v destroy_v and_o christ_n come_v it_o a_o strict_v man_n to_o no_o place_n by_o another_o but_o it_o oblige_v man_n to_o worship_n god_n every_o where_o in_o spirit_n and_o truth_n it_o be_v true_a this_o be_v a_o ceremonial_a precept_n and_o will_v not_o hold_v in_o all_o thing_n especial_o as_o to_o its_o oblition_n yet_o while_o it_o stand_v by_o a_o positive_a authority_n or_o precept_n it_o show_v that_o god_n may_v command_v a_o particular_a as_o one_o day_n of_o seven_o and_o yet_o not_o instant_o so_o determine_v but_o that_o one_o and_o the_o same_o command_n may_v enforce_v to_o diverse_a day_n at_o diverse_a time_n upon_o supposition_n of_o god_n manifest_v his_o mind_n even_o as_o by_o one_o command_n man_n be_v astrict_v successive_o to_o diverse_a place_n 2._o see_v it_o instance_a in_o the_o second_o command_n wherein_o god_n require_v such_o a_o worship_n as_o he_o himself_o shall_v prescribe_v which_o be_v the_o moral_a affirmative_a part_n of_o it_o and_o discharge_v all_o worship_n by_o image_n that_o be_v the_o moral_a negative_a part_n thereof_o by_o virtue_n whereof_o believer_n be_v then_o tie_v to_o offer_v sacrifice_n to_o circumcise_v to_o keep_v the_o passover_n etc._n etc._n but_o now_o believer_n be_v tie_v to_o baptise_v to_o celebrate_v the_o lord_n supper_n etc._n etc._n yet_o by_o virtue_n of_o one_o and_o the_o same_o command_n so_o here_o that_o command_n which_o require_v the_o seven_o day_n from_o the_o jew_n may_v require_v the_o first_o day_n from_o we_o christian_n for_o the_o sabbath_n because_o these_o particular_n be_v not_o express_o direct_o and_o immediate_o call_v for_o by_o these_o command_n but_o indirect_o and_o by_o consequence_n yet_o this_o second_o command_n tie_v the_o jew_n to_o abstain_v from_o blood_n and_o to_o circumcise_v before_o the_o ceremonial_a law_n be_v add_v to_o they_o because_o these_o command_n be_v former_o reveal_v to_o they_o but_o it_o tie_v they_o to_o these_o accidental_o to_o say_v so_o and_o by_o consequence_n only_o even_o so_o we_o say_v of_o the_o four_o command_v as_o to_o the_o seven_o day_n it_o be_v institute_v before_o consider_v for_o this_o exod._n 16._o 26._o where_o six_o day_n for_o gather_v of_o manna_n &_o a_o seven_o for_o rest_n be_v speak_v of_o a_o three_o instance_n be_v in_o tithe_n which_o be_v the_o lord_n require_v apart_o of_o their_o mean_n or_o substance_n as_o this_o be_v apart_o of_o their_o time_n he_o there_o require_v the_o ten_o part_n of_o their_o increase_n as_o here_o he_o do_v the_o seven_o part_n of_o their_o time_n yet_o god_n in_o proportion_v their_o estate_n do_v not_o particular_o limit_v to_o any_o exact_a and_o precise_a order_n but_o as_o to_o this_o proportion_n of_o their_o estate_n whatever_o they_o be_v so_o we_o say_v here_o have_v not_o the_o day_n be_v determine_v other_o way_n then_o by_o this_o command_n it_o will_v not_o have_v employ_v any_o particular_a definite_a day_n of_o the_o seven_o 3._o we_o premit_fw-la that_o though_o the_o seven_o day_n be_v call_v moral_n as_o be_v express_v in_o the_o command_n or_o understand_v yet_o it_o be_v but_o moral_a positive_a and_o so_o alterable_a at_o the_o will_n of_o the_o lawgiver_n and_o therefore_o the_o question_n will_v not_o be_v much_o different_a if_o acknowledge_v the_o seven_o day_n to_o be_v command_v to_o the_o jew_n as_o well_o as_o one_o of_o seven_o we_o yet_o assert_v the_o seven_o to_o be_v discharge_v and_o one_o of_o seven_o to_o be_v still_o retain_v for_o so_o one_o of_o seven_o will_v be_v bind_v now_o and_o not_o the_o seven_o 4._o yet_o lest_o we_o shall_v seem_v to_o admit_v somewhat_o changeable_a in_o the_o very_a command_n itself_o precise_o consider_v we_o will_v put_v difference_n betwixt_o the_o command_a part_n of_o the_o law_n and_o its_o explicatory_a part_n the_o command_n may_v be_v moral_a and_o indefinite_a although_o some_o thing_n in_o reason_n and_o motive_n be_v not_o so_o as_o in_o the_o preface_n which_o enforce_v all_o the_o command_n &_o in_o the_o promise_n annex_v to_o the_o five_o there_o be_v something_o peculiar_a to_o that_o people_n yet_o can_v we_o cast_v off_o all_o because_o of_o that_o suppose_v there_o have_v no_o more_o be_v in_o this_o four_o command_n but_o remember_v in_o the_o day_n of_o rest_n to_o keep_v it_o holy_a that_o will_v not_o have_v infer_v the_o seven_o day_n though_o we_o think_v the_o jew_n because_o of_o its_o former_a sanctification_n will_v have_v be_v oblige_v to_o keep_v that_o day_n by_o virtue_n of_o this_o command_n and_o suppose_v that_o in_o the_o explication_n or_o reason_n there_o may_v be_v something_o add_v peculiar_a to_o that_o people_n which_o can_v be_v a_o seven_o day_n but_o at_o the_o most_o if_o any_o thing_n the_o seven_o day_n yet_o that_o which_o be_v in_o the_o command_a part_n will_v still_o stand_v moral_a to_o wit_n that_o the_o day_n of_o rest_n shall_v be_v remember_v and_o if_o it_o can_v be_v make_v out_o that_o it_o be_v determine_v to_o the_o jew_n to_o sanctify_v the_o seven_o day_n though_o it_o be_v in_o the_o reason_n add_v and_o to_o we_o afterward_o to_o sanctify_v the_o first_o day_n they_o will_v be_v both_o find_v to_o be_v a_o seven_o day_n and_o a_o day_n of_o rest_n and_o therefore_o to_o be_v remember_v and_o to_o be_v sanctify_v this_o will_v resolve_v into_o the_o same_o thing_n on_o the_o matter_n yet_o we_o conceive_v it_o safe_a to_o assert_v that_o in_o this_o command_n god_n have_v set_v apart_o a_o seven_o day_n to_o himself_o which_o be_v to_o be_v sanctify_v by_o we_o by_o our_o application_n of_o it_o to_o holy_a use_n but_o do_v not_o by_o it_o express_o direct_o and_o primary_o bind_v to_o the_o seven_o day_n but_o secondary_o and_o by_o consequence_n to_o wit_n as_o it_o be_v other_o way_n before_o declare_v by_o he_o and_o so_o it_o bind_v now_o that_o same_o way_n to_o the_o sanctify_a of_o the_o first_o day_n of_o the_o week_n as_o be_v now_o reveal_v by_o god_n just_a as_o in_o the_o former_a instance_n or_o example_n we_o touch_v upon_o that_o a_o seven_o day_n whatever_o it_o be_v which_o be_v choose_v of_o god_n and_o not_o the_o seven_o day_n in_o order_n be_v to_o be_v sanctify_v by_o virtue_n of_o this_o command_n as_o enjoin_v that_o as_o the_o substance_n and_o matter_n of_o it_o may_v be_v make_v out_o by_o these_o argument_n arg._n 1._o that_o which_o be_v the_o substance_n of_o this_o command_n be_v moral_a and_o bind_v perpetual_o as_o we_o have_v former_o prove_v for_o if_o its_o substance_n be_v not_o moral_a than_o it_o selâ—_n be_v not_o so_o either_o but_o that_o a_o seven_o day_n shall_v be_v sanctify_v have_v be_v maintain_v in_o the_o church_n by_o the_o apostle_n in_o their_o retain_v the_o first_o day_n of_o the_o week_n while_o the_o seven_o have_v be_v lay_v by_o and_o never_o use_v therefore_o it_o be_v not_o the_o seven_o but_o aâ—_n seven_o day_n which_o be_v primary_o command_v in_o this_o command_n so_o that_o no_o particular_a day_n be_v institute_v here_o more_o than_o any_o positive_a service_n be_v prescribe_v in_o the_o second_o command_n yet_o the_o observation_n of_o what_o be_v prescribe_v or_o shall_v be_v prescribe_v be_v include_v even_o so_o it_o be_v here_o in_o reference_n to_o that_o day_n and_o as_o we_o may_v infer_v that_o the_o second_o command_n enjoin_v not_o such_o and_o such_o ordinance_n primary_o because_o they_o be_v abolish_v and_o that_o such_o as_o be_v negative_a or_o prohibit_v aâ—_n not_o make_v of_o image_n be_v moral_a because_o they_o be_v continue_v and_o image_n be_v to_o be_v reject_v just_o so_o may_v we_o conclude_v that_o a_o seven_o day_n here_o be_v primary_o command_v and_o be_v moral_a because_o it_o be_v continue_v and_o that_o the_o seven_o be_v not_o so_o command_v because_o it_o be_v reject_v and_o lay_v aside_o this_o argument_n especial_o make_v out_o in_o the_o designation_n of_o the_o lord_n day_n will_v prove_v this_o for_o if_o that_o seven_o day_n be_v the_o substance_n of_o this_o command_n then_o either_o it_o be_v to_o be_v continue_v as_o moral_n which_o be_v against_o the_o current_n of_o the_o new_a testament_n wherein_o as_o christ_n have_v set_v forth_o different_a ordinance_n so_o a_o different_a chief_a solemn_a time_n for_o worship_n or_o we_o must_v say_v that_o this_o four_o command_n belong_v not_o to_o
we_o at_o all_o the_o contrary_a whereof_o we_o have_v make_v out_o it_o must_v then_o follow_v that_o it_o be_v not_o the_o seven_o day_n but_o a_o seven_o day_n which_o this_o command_n respect_v which_o therefore_o belong_v to_o we_o as_o it_o do_v to_o the_o jew_n as_o well_o as_o any_o other_o command_n and_o particular_o the_o second_o command_n do_v arg._n 2._o if_o god_n have_v put_v a_o difference_n some_o way_n betwixt_o the_o sabbath_n command_v here_o and_o the_o day_n of_o his_o own_o rest_n the_o seven_o day_n than_o it_o will_v seem_v its_o not_o that_o day_n which_o it_o command_v but_o he_o have_v put_v a_o difference_n first_o in_o the_o mandatory_a part_n remember_v what_o not_o the_o seven_o day_n but_o the_o sabbath_n day_n or_o day_n of_o rest_n 2._o in_o the_o blessing_n it_o be_v not_o say_v he_o bless_v the_o seven_o day_n but_o the_o sabbath_n therefore_o be_v that_o difference_n so_o palpable_a as_o be_v special_o intend_v whereas_o if_o the_o scope_n of_o the_o command_n be_v only_o the_o seven_o day_n it_o have_v be_v much_o more_o clear_a to_o have_v set_v it_o down_o other_o way_n and_o no_o other_o probable_a reason_n of_o the_o difference_n can_v be_v give_v arg._n 3._o either_o a_o seven_o day_n be_v command_v primary_o and_o then_o the_o seven_o but_o secondary_o and_o consequential_o or_o the_o seven_o be_v command_v the_o jew_n primary_o and_o one_o of_o seven_o but_o consequential_o for_o both_o be_v command_v to_o they_o and_o the_o first_o to_o wit_n the_o seven_o as_o be_v in_o use_n before_o but_o it_o can_v be_v say_v that_o the_o seven_o day_n be_v primary_o command_v and_o one_o of_o seven_o consequential_o only_a because_o the_o general_n be_v first_o command_v and_o then_o the_o particular_a as_o when_o god_n first_o shall_v be_v this_o the_o sabbath_n may_v be_v change_v from_o the_o last_o or_o seven_o day_n to_o the_o first_o day_n of_o the_o week_n without_o any_o derogation_n to_o this_o command_n least_o primary_o in_o any_o command_n of_o the_o first_o table_n but_o in_o the_o second_o which_o teach_v duty_n to_o other_o as_o this_o first_o do_v to_o god_n neither_o be_v it_o ceremonial_a the_o command_n of_o a_o man_n leave_v father_n and_o mother_n and_o cleave_v to_o his_o wife_n so_o that_o they_o two_o shall_v be_v one_o flesh_n which_o the_o apostle_n ephes_n 5._o make_v use_n of_o beside_o if_o it_o be_v ceremonial_a in_o the_o substance_n than_o be_v it_o typical_a and_o significant_a of_o some_o thing_n to_o come_v which_o be_v hard_o to_o show_v then_o also_o have_v it_o not_o be_v lawful_a to_o have_v retain_v it_o for_o ceremonial_n now_o in_o their_o use_n be_v not_o only_o dead_a but_o deadly_a but_o this_o morality_n in_o substance_n the_o same_o with_o the_o command_n which_o we_o plead_v for_o be_v retain_v by_o the_o apostle_n and_o primitive_a church_n to_o sav_v no_o more_o therefore_o it_o be_v not_o ceremonial_a and_o so_o this_o law_n must_v needs_o be_v moral_a to_o say_v that_o the_o command_n be_v partly_o moral_a partly_o ceremonial_a if_o we_o respect_v its_o substance_n will_v not_o hold_v for_o 1._o there_o be_v no_o such_o other_o law_n 2._o that_o be_v to_o make_v confusion_n betwixt_o ceremonial_n and_o moral_n which_o it_o seem_v the_o lord_n himself_o have_v aim_v and_o resolve_v to_o keep_v clear_o distinct_a 3._o what_o ever_o be_v ceremonial_a that_o which_o be_v allow_v and_o enjoin_v to_o adam_n in_o paradise_n and_o wherein_o we_o may_v agree_v with_o he_o under_o the_o gospel_n can_v be_v ceremonial_a for_o neither_o of_o these_o state_n be_v capable_a of_o proper_a ceremony_n but_o both_o agree_v on_o a_o seven_o day_n therefore_o it_o be_v not_o ceremonial_a the_o three_o way_n we_o make_v out_o the_o morality_n of_o this_o command_n be_v by_o particular_a consider_v of_o itself_o and_o here_o we_o argue_v thus_o if_o it_o be_v not_o only_o put_v into_o the_o decalogue_n with_o the_o other_o against_o will-worship_n sure_a it_o be_v enough_o that_o it_o be_v not_o repeal_v in_o it_o so_o it_o be_v here_o as_o be_v say_v 3._o sundry_a other_o positive_a law_n be_v bind_v which_o be_v not_o necessary_a which_o while_o some_o weak_a one_o not_o yet_o sufficient_o inform_v do_v still_o practice_v as_o rom._n 14._o the_o apostle_n will_v not_o have_v they_o hasty_o condemn_v in_o day_n more_o than_o meat_n yet_o be_v there_o still_o a_o difference_n betwixt_o bread_n and_o wine_n in_o the_o sacrament_n of_o the_o supper_n and_o other_o meat_n which_o this_o discourse_n of_o the_o above_o all_o day_n yea_o and_o it_o only_o as_o the_o christian_a sabbath_n for_o 1._o on_o that_o day_n they_o use_v to_o meet_v ordinary_o and_o that_o not_o occasional_o but_o purposely_o and_o day_n 3._o that_o this_o meeting_n together_o be_v not_o a_o daily_a or_o ordinary_a meeting_n together_o for_o john_n 21._o we_o see_v they_o go_v to_o fish_v and_o no_o question_n sometime_o they_o difference_n that_o their_o meeting_n on_o these_o day_n be_v occasional_a and_o it_o may_v be_v but_o partial_a to_o speak_v so_o but_o the_o solemn_a chief_a fix_a meeting_n of_o all_o be_v usual_o and_o ordinary_o on_o the_o first_o day_n 3._o this_o come_n together_o on_o that_o day_n for_o these_o end_n be_v speak_v of_o as_o a_o thing_n that_o be_v not_o new_a nor_o occasional_a but_o as_o their_o customary_a constant_a know_v practice_n they_o come_v together_o purposely_o to_o break_v and_o to_o wait_v on_o other_o ordinance_n 4._o it_o be_v clear_a that_o by_o special_a apply_v of_o these_o exercise_n to_o that_o day_n and_o by_o mention_v of_o the_o day_n for_o that_o end_n that_o that_o day_n be_v their_o most_o solemn_a day_n and_o that_o the_o old_a seven_o day_n be_v not_o so_o at_o least_o necessary_o employ_v by_o they_o 5._o neither_o be_v it_o like_v that_o paul_n who_o be_v ready_a to_o depart_v will_v have_v stay_v for_o the_o first_o day_n of_o the_o week_n if_o there_o have_v not_o be_v some_o solemn_a worship_n in_o that_o or_o that_o he_o will_v have_v pass_v the_o old_a seventh-day_n sabbath_n especial_o to_o mar_v of_o his_o other_o occasion_n have_v seven_o day_n i_o desire_v to_o know_v a_o reason_n 1._o why_o their_o meeting_n on_o that_o day_n shall_v be_v particular_o record_v rather_o then_o their_o meeting_n on_o any_o other_o day_n and_o then_o 2._o why_o the_o one_o be_v so_o oft_o mention_v and_o the_o other_o never_o to_o wit_n that_o they_o meet_v the_o second_o three_o day_n etc._n etc._n of_o the_o week_n or_o 3_o if_o their_o meeting_n on_o this_o first_o day_n now_o after_o christ_n ascension_n be_v not_o like_o his_o go_n to_o the_o synagogue_n on_o the_o seven_o day_n sabbath_n and_o do_v such_o and_o such_o thing_n on_o the_o sabbath_n that_o day_n be_v most_o frequent_o mention_v before_o whereas_o now_o there_o be_v deep_a silence_n of_o that_o day_n and_o the_o first_o day_n be_v record_v in_o its_o room_n neither_o can_v the_o scripture_n speak_v of_o the_o one_o and_o silence_n in_o the_o other_o be_v for_o no_o purpose_n or_o for_o any_o other_o
they_o write_v or_o we_o must_v say_v it_o be_v do_v to_o put_v a_o preference_n on_o that_o day_n and_o to_o show_v that_o its_o especial_o to_o be_v take_v notice_n of_o as_o the_o most_o solemn_a day_n for_o god_n worship_n by_o christian_n which_o be_v the_o thing_n to_o be_v confirm_v for_o the_o day_n that_o be_v claim_v as_o the_o lord_n keep_v for_o he_o and_o singular_o mark_v to_o be_v privilege_v beyond_o other_o day_n must_v be_v his_o day_n but_o this_o first_o day_n be_v such_o ergo_fw-la etc._n etc._n propos_fw-fr 5._o this_o change_n of_o the_o day_n whereby_o the_o seven_o be_v lay_v aside_o and_o the_o first_o substitute_v in_o its_o room_n be_v of_o divine_a authority_n and_o institution_n and_o not_o by_o any_o mere_a humane_a or_o ecclesiastic_a constitution_n i_o conceive_v there_o be_v indeed_o no_o mid_n here_o betwixt_o a_o divine_a institution_n which_o have_v god_n warrant_n and_o authority_n stamp_v on_o it_o and_o for_o conscience_n sake_n be_v to_o be_v observe_v as_o be_v obligatory_a thereof_o and_o that_o immediate_o and_o humane_a or_o ecclesiastic_a constitution_n which_o may_v reach_v the_o external_a man_n but_o in_o the_o matter_n of_o worship_n can_v bind_v the_o conscience_n or_o impose_v they_o as_o necessary_a now_o that_o this_o change_n be_v not_o by_o the_o last_o but_o by_o the_o first_o we_o prove_v these_o way_n 1._o will_v appear_v 1_o if_o it_o reach_v the_o conscience_n and_o that_o immediate_o then_o it_o be_v not_o humane_a but_o divine_a but_o it_o do_v so_o 2._o if_o no_o man_n or_o church_n on_o earth_n in_o the_o first_o question_n 2._o we_o proceed_v to_o evince_v this_o change_n to_o be_v by_o divine_a institution_n these_o four_o way_n 1._o from_o reason_n flow_v from_o scripture_n or_o consequence_n draw_v from_o it_o 1._o thus_o where_o by_o genuine_a and_o native_a consequence_n draw_v from_o scripture_n any_o thing_n be_v so_o impose_v as_o it_o can_v without_o sin_n be_v alter_v or_o neglect_v there_o be_v a_o divine_a institution_n but_o in_o the_o change_n of_o the_o seven_o day_n sabbath_n to_o the_o first_o such_o consequence_n may_v be_v draw_v from_o scripture_n as_o will_v upon_o supposition_n of_o the_o change_n a_o strict_a it_o to_o the_o first_o day_n so_o as_o that_o can_v be_v alter_v or_o neglect_v without_o sin_n ergo_fw-la it_o be_v of_o divine_a institution_n the_o question_n can_v be_v only_o of_o the_o minor_a which_o be_v make_v out_o from_o what_o be_v say_v in_o the_o three_o proposition_n thus_o if_o these_o very_a ground_n which_o plead_v the_o conveniency_n of_o the_o change_n simple_o do_v plead_v the_o conveniency_n of_o that_o change_n to_o the_o first_o day_n then_o by_o clear_a and_o unforced_a consequence_n the_o first_o day_n be_v choose_v and_o can_v without_o sin_n be_v pass_v by_o alter_v or_o neglect_v except_o we_o say_v these_o reason_n have_v no_o weight_n but_o these_o very_a ground_n will_v be_v find_v to_o plead_v for_o and_o to_o be_v applicable_a to_o the_o first_o day_n of_o the_o week_n alone_o and_o therefore_o beside_o all_o other_o day_n in_o the_o new_a world_n it_o may_v be_v call_v the_o day_n which_o god_n special_o make_v as_o it_o be_v the_o day_n of_o christ_n rest_n from_o the_o work_n of_o redemption_n answerable_a to_o god_n rest_n after_o the_o creation_n etc._n etc._n and_o therefore_o as_o be_v most_o conducible_a to_o that_o end_n the_o first_o day_n can_v be_v without_o sin_n pass_v by_o neglect_v or_o alter_v 2._o thus_o if_o the_o very_a day_n of_o christ_n rest_n in_o the_o new_a world_n be_v to_o be_v rest_v on_o and_o sanctify_v as_o the_o sabbath_n than_o the_o first_o day_n be_v to_o be_v rest_v on_o and_o sanctify_v but_o by_o analogy_n from_o the_o work_n of_o creation_n we_o may_v see_v that_o the_o first_o day_n of_o rest_n after_o the_o finish_n of_o the_o work_n of_o redemption_n be_v to_o be_v sanctify_v ergo_fw-la etc._n etc._n and_o psalm_n 118._o be_v very_o considerable_a to_o this_o purpose_n wherein_o there_o be_v 1._o a_o prophecy_n of_o christ_n 2._o oâ—_n a_o day_n which_o god_n have_v singular_o make_v for_o we_o to_o joy_n in_o 3._o that_o day_n be_v the_o day_n wherein_o the_o reject_a stone_n be_v make_v the_o head_n of_o the_o corner_n which_o day_n be_v clear_a from_o rom._n 2._o 4_o to_o be_v the_o resurrection_n day_n yea_o suppose_v that_o day_n there_o do_v signify_v the_o time_n of_o the_o gospel_n wherein_o we_o shall_v joy_v yet_o even_o that_o way_n the_o first_o day_n be_v by_o proportion_n that_o day_n eminent_o wherein_o christ_n victory_n be_v manifest_v and_o so_o the_o day_n wherein_o christian_n ought_v especial_o to_o rejoice_v the_o second_o way_n we_o may_v reason_v for_o the_o change_n to_o be_v by_o divine_a institution_n be_v from_o this_o command_n if_o suppose_v still_o a_o change_n by_o the_o morality_n of_o this_o command_n the_o seven_o can_v be_v change_v into_o no_o day_n but_o the_o first_o day_n of_o the_o week_n then_o be_v the_o change_n into_o the_o first_o day_n of_o divine_a institution_n for_o so_o that_o must_v necessary_o be_v which_o be_v by_o virtue_n of_o a_o command_n but_o by_o this_o command_n no_o other_o day_n can_v be_v admit_v for_o each_o week_n be_v divide_v in_o six_o work_a day_n and_o these_o together_o to_o we_o and_o one_o of_o rest_n and_o that_o to_o god_n now_o by_o change_v it_o to_o the_o first_o god_n get_v one_o and_o we_o six_o and_o that_o together_o but_o if_o the_o day_n be_v the_o second_o three_o four_o etc._n etc._n it_o will_v not_o be_v so_o for_o the_o six_o work_a day_n will_v be_v interrupt_v which_o be_v contrary_a to_o that_o morality_n of_o the_o command_n whereby_o our_o day_n be_v distinguish_v from_o he_o that_o we_o for_o one_o week_n be_v full_o by_o we_o may_v with_o the_o great_a freedom_n give_v god_n he_o the_o three_o way_n we_o take_v to_o prove_v the_o change_n of_o the_o day_n to_o be_v by_o divine_a institution_n be_v this_o if_o by_o the_o practice_n of_o the_o apostle_n who_o be_v guide_v and_o inspire_v by_o the_o spirit_n in_o thing_n belong_v to_o their_o office_n infallible_o this_o day_n be_v observe_v as_o different_a from_o other_o day_n then_o there_o be_v a_o divine_a institution_n of_o and_o warrant_v for_o this_o day_n but_o by_o the_o practice_n of_o the_o apostle_n this_o day_n be_v celebrate_v as_o different_a from_o and_o prefer_v to_o other_o day_n or_o as_o divine_a therefore_o it_o be_v of_o divine_a institution_n if_o the_o divine_a practice_n and_o example_n of_o the_o apostle_n in_o thing_n moral_a and_o common_a to_o all_o do_v not_o either_o suppose_v a_o divine_a antecedent_n institution_n or_o infer_v a_o subsequent_a than_o their_o practice_n and_o example_n which_o in_o these_o thing_n be_v infallible_a and_o unerring_a will_v have_v no_o more_o force_n than_o the_o example_n of_o other_o which_o be_v absurd_a their_o example_n be_v especial_o press_v on_o we_o and_o if_o in_o any_o thing_n their_o example_n be_v divine_a it_o must_v be_v in_o this_o so_o particular_o and_o so_o well_o circumstantiate_v and_o where_o their_o meeting_n be_v not_o record_v to_o have_v be_v on_o any_o other_o second_o three_o etc._n etc._n day_n certain_o their_o practice_n must_v be_v not_o only_o more_o than_o nothing_o but_o very_o significant_a and_o indeed_o in_o positive_a worship_n the_o lord_n have_v be_v please_v to_o be_v more_o spare_v to_o say_v so_o and_o to_o leave_v we_o more_o to_o gather_v from_o example_n then_o in_o negative_n as_o in_o the_o positive_a part_n of_o swear_v admit_v of_o church_n member_n in_o government_n baptism_n and_o admission_n to_o the_o supper_n yet_o none_o can_v say_v that_o there_o be_v no_o scripture_n institution_n in_o these_o where_o there_o may_v be_v such_o ground_n or_o example_n 4._o the_o divine_a institution_n of_o the_o change_n may_v be_v argue_v from_o the_o title_n thus_o if_o that_o which_o be_v call_v the_o lord_n be_v his_o by_o divine_a institution_n and_o separation_n from_o other_o thing_n not_o so_o call_v then_o this_o first_o day_n must_v be_v his_o by_o divine_a institution_n and_o
