vital_a spirit_n so_o also_o the_o power_n of_o life_n and_o nourishment_n proceed_v from_o the_o soul_n and_o yet_o they_o be_v do_v and_o wrought_v by_o the_o liver_n and_o other_o inward_a part_n as_o instrument_n whereby_o the_o soul_n nourish_v the_o body_n in_o a_o word_n there_o be_v no_o natural_a action_n in_o man_n but_o for_o the_o effect_n thereof_o the_o part_n of_o the_o body_n be_v use_v as_o it_o be_v the_o hand_n and_o instrument_n of_o the_o soul_n and_o all_o this_o come_v by_o reason_n of_o the_o union_n of_o the_o body_n with_o the_o soul_n whereby_o they_o make_v one_o person_n hence_o it_o follow_v that_o when_o the_o body_n be_v trouble_v the_o soul_n be_v also_o trouble_v now_o the_o body_n affect_v and_o hurt_v the_o soul_n and_o mind_n not_o by_o take_v away_o or_o diminish_v any_o part_n thereof_o for_o the_o soul_n be_v indivisible_a nor_o by_o deprive_v it_o of_o any_o power_n or_o faculty_n give_v it_o of_o god_n for_o as_o the_o soul_n itself_o and_o the_o part_n thereof_o so_o also_o all_o the_o faculty_n of_o the_o same_o remain_v whole_a and_o entire_a without_o abate_v or_o diminish_v but_o by_o corrupt_v the_o action_n of_o the_o mind_n or_o more_o proper_o by_o corrupt_v the_o next_o instrument_n whereby_o the_o mind_n work_v and_o consequent_o the_o action_n itself_o this_o may_v be_v conceive_v by_o a_o comparison_n a_o skilful_a artificer_n in_o any_o science_n have_v a_o unfit_a tool_n to_o work_v withal_o though_o his_o skill_n be_v good_a and_o his_o ability_n sufficient_a yet_o his_o instrument_n wherewith_o he_o work_v that_o belong_v to_o his_o salvation_n yet_o in_o this_o case_n some_o caution_n be_v careful_o to_o be_v obscrue_v as_o first_o that_o the_o parent_n hold_v the_o true_a faith_n and_o religion_n second_o that_o he_o be_v by_o the_o minister_n exhort_v to_o a_o true_a humiliation_n of_o himself_o and_o to_o earnest_a repentance_n for_o his_o sin_n commit_v and_o that_o before_o the_o child_n be_v baptize_v three_o that_o their_o be_v some_o appoint_v to_o answer_v for_o the_o infant_n beside_o the_o parent_n and_o to_o make_v solemn_a promise_n open_o to_o the_o church_n that_o it_o shall_v be_v careful_o bring_v up_o and_o instruct_v in_o the_o faith_n and_o the_o same_o be_v to_o be_v observe_v and_o practise_v before_o the_o baptise_v of_o the_o child_n of_o parent_n for_o the_o former_a adoration_n in_o general_a be_v a_o outward_a worship_n signify_v and_o testify_v be_v the_o inward_a worship_n of_o the_o heart_n more_o special_o by_o it_o we_o must_v conceive_v the_o bow_v of_o the_o head_n and_o knee_n the_o bend_n and_o prostrate_v of_o the_o body_n the_o lift_v up_o of_o the_o hand_n eye_n and_o such_o like_a adoration_n be_v twofold_a religious_a or_o civil_a religious_a adoration_n be_v that_o worship_n of_o god_n in_o which_o religion_n and_o godliness_n be_v exercise_v express_v and_o signify_v in_o it_o there_o be_v two_o excellent_a gift_n and_o grace_v with_o authority_n beforenamed_n here_o we_o must_v remember_v that_o the_o bow_n of_o the_o body_n etc._n etc._n and_o in_o general_a all_o bodily_a gesture_n perform_v be_v one_o and_o the_o same_o both_o in_o religious_a and_o civil_a worship_n and_o the_o distinction_n stand_v only_o in_o the_o intent_n of_o the_o mind_n sect._n 2._o now_o the_o question_n about_o adoration_n be_v two_o 1._o question_n to_o what_o thing_n be_v adoration_n due_a and_o in_o what_o manner_n ans._n we_o must_v distinguish_v the_o thing_n that_o be_v and_o they_o be_v of_o three_o sort_n or_o rank_n in_o the_o first_o rank_n come_v god_n the_o creator_n in_o the_o second_o the_o creature_n in_o the_o three_o the_o work_n of_o the_o creature_n for_o the_o first_o adoration_n that_o be_v due_a to_o god_n the_o creator_n must_v not_o be_v social_a for_o we_o be_v not_o god_n mate_n and_o companion_n but_o only_o religious_a yea_o all_o religious_a worship_n be_v due_a to_o god_n and_o to_o he_o alone_o which_o i_o prove_v thus_o the_o devil_n when_o he_o tempt_v our_o saviour_n desire_v no_o more_o of_o he_o but_o the_o prostrate_v of_o his_o body_n yet_o upon_o this_o ground_n that_o he_o be_v the_o giver_n and_o disposer_n of_o all_o the_o kingdom_n of_o the_o earth_n but_o christ_n deny_v it_o and_o answer_n thou_o shall_v worship_v the_o lord_n thy_o god_n and_o he_o only_a shall_v thou_o serve_v math._n 4._o 10._o again_o the_o very_a scope_n of_o religious_a adoration_n be_v to_o acknowledge_v the_o godhead_n and_o the_o of_o the_o son_n with_o the_o jew_n thus_o do_v we_o worship_v not_o the_o true_a god_n but_o a_o idol_n the_o reason_n be_v because_o god_n be_v so_o to_o be_v conceive_v of_o we_o as_o he_o have_v manifest_v himself_o in_o his_o own_o word_n and_o no_o otherwise_o if_o otherwise_o god_n be_v not_o conceive_v but_o a_o idol_n or_o fiction_n of_o the_o brain_n and_o the_o adoration_n be_v not_o do_v to_o god_n but_o to_o the_o idol_n second_o to_o worship_n god_n in_o at_z or_o before_o a_o image_n be_v idolatry_n &_o superstition_n and_o god_n so_o worship_v be_v make_v a_o idol_n for_o he_o that_o thus_o whorship_n he_o bind_v his_o presence_n operation_n and_o grace_n to_o those_o place_n to_o which_o god_n never_o bind_v himself_o or_o his_o presence_n etc._n etc._n god_n have_v not_o appoint_v image_n to_o be_v pledge_n of_o these_o thing_n either_o by_o promise_n or_o commandment_n hence_o it_o follow_v that_o the_o man_n which_o worship_v god_n otherwise_o than_o he_o will_v be_v worship_v or_o look_v to_o be_v hear_v when_o god_n will_v not_o be_v hear_v be_v a_o idolater_n again_o god_n express_o forbid_v the_o the_o worship_n of_o his_o majesty_n in_o at_z or_o that_o they_o shall_v be_v token_n and_o pledge_n of_o his_o presence_n the_o second_o sort_n of_o thing_n that_o be_v be_v the_o creature_n which_o must_v be_v distinguish_v into_o four_o kind_n i._o very_a cause_n we_o be_v to_o have_v no_o deal_n with_o they_o at_o all_o nay_o we_o be_v utter_o to_o renounce_v and_o abandon_v whatsoever_o thing_n come_v from_o the_o devil_n or_o his_o that_o end_n either_o by_o creation_n nature_n word_n or_o institution_n now_o concern_v the_o good_a angel_n if_o they_o do_v now_o appear_v unto_o we_o and_o we_o have_v certain_a knowledge_n thereof_o we_o may_v adore_v they_o but_o how_o only_o with_o civil_a and_o social_a worship_n for_o so_o
be_v chargeable_a to_o the_o church_n and_o so_o there_o may_v be_v sufficient_a alm_n to_o they_o that_o be_v true_o poor_a v._o the_o five_o reason_n they_o bring_v in_o again_o judaism_n for_o jewish_a religion_n by_o god_n appointment_n stand_v in_o bodily_a rite_n and_o outward_a ceremony_n action_n and_o gesture_n yea_o in_o outward_a thing_n as_o garment_n meat_n drink_n and_o their_o rule_n be_v touch_v not_o taste_v not_o from_o all_o which_o we_o be_v whole_o free_v by_o christ._n vi_o six_o these_o vow_n be_v idolatrous_a and_o superstitious_a for_o they_o be_v make_v and_o difference_n between_o they_o for_o first_o they_o have_v their_o warrant_n out_o of_o god_n word_n these_o have_v not_o so_o nay_o there_o be_v express_a testimony_n of_o scripture_n against_o these_o vow_n second_o in_o their_o vow_n there_o be_v always_o right_o reserve_v to_o superior_n to_o reverse_v they_o if_o they_o like_v they_o not_o but_o in_o monastical_a vow_n all_o right_n be_v take_v from_o superior_n for_o child_n be_v permit_v to_o vow_n and_o their_o promise_n must_v stand_v against_o parent_n consent_n and_o wife_n according_a to_o popish_a doctrine_n may_v vow_v against_o the_o express_a consent_n of_o their_o husband_n three_o they_o be_v not_o perpetual_a but_o cease_v with_o the_o ceremonial_a law_n but_o these_o be_v suppose_v to_o have_v a_o perpetual_a
