must_v put_v to_o our_o strength_n and_o bodily_a power_n and_o work_v the_o will_n of_o god_n in_o our_o life_n and_o action_n little_a child_n say_v st._n john_n 1_o epist_n 3.7_o let_v no_o man_n deceive_v you_o he_o that_o do_v righteousness_n be_v righteous_a that_o be_v you_o will_v be_v deceive_v if_o you_o suffer_v other_o to_o persuade_v you_o or_o vain_o flatter_v yourselves_o that_o secret_a wish_n or_o a_o sudden_a desire_n of_o obedience_n may_v start_v up_o in_o our_o soul_n unaware_o and_o there_o be_v not_o much_o opposition_n make_v to_o it_o because_o our_o lust_n receive_v no_o great_a hurt_n from_o it_o and_o therefore_o they_o will_v allow_v we_o to_o think_v of_o good_a to_o spend_v a_o faint_a relish_n a_o sudden_a inclination_n or_o fruitless_a desire_n upon_o it_o but_o if_o once_o we_o will_v go_v on_o to_o do_v our_o duty_n and_o to_o begin_v obedience_n then_o begin_v the_o conflict_n our_o lust_n then_o bestir_v themselves_o with_o might_n and_o main_a and_o set_v every_o faculty_n on_o work_n to_o resist_v and_o defeat_v it_o for_o our_o thought_n then_o begin_v to_o argue_v and_o to_o pick_v quarrel_n with_o our_o duty_n our_o will_n then_o begin_v to_o be_v averse_a and_o our_o affection_n to_o cool_v towards_o it_o and_o because_o in_o this_o obedience_n of_o our_o work_n and_o action_n off_o and_o therefore_o endeavour_v to_o be_v shift_v off_o there_o be_v so_o much_o of_o difficulty_n therefore_o be_v most_o people_n so_o desirous_a to_o shift_v it_o off_o and_o so_o forward_o to_o take_v up_o with_o any_o thing_n which_o will_v save_v they_o the_o labour_n of_o it_o they_o persuade_v themselves_o that_o god_n will_v admit_v of_o easy_a term_n and_o build_v their_o hope_n on_o cheap_a service_n as_o particular_o that_o it_o will_v be_v sufficient_a to_o salvation_n that_o they_o believe_v the_o gospel_n and_o that_o jesus_n christ_n die_v for_o they_o that_o god_n will_v accept_v of_o the_o will_n for_o the_o deed_n that_o god_n will_v excuse_v their_o disobedience_n because_o when_o they_o fall_v it_o be_v by_o reason_n of_o strong_a and_o violent_a temptation_n and_o last_o that_o it_o be_v not_o without_o reluctancy_n and_o great_a unwillingness_n that_o they_o disobey_v but_o all_o these_o be_v deceitful_a imagination_n for_o howsoever_o we_o be_v against_o sin_n in_o our_o thought_n and_o mind_n and_o desire_n the_o work_a wickedness_n will_v make_v we_o in_o god_n account_n son_n of_o sin_n and_o disobedience_n and_o will_v be_v sure_a to_o render_v such_o child_n of_o wrath_n and_o destruction_n if_o you_o live_v after_o the_o flesh_n say_v st._n paul_n you_o shall_v die_v rom._n 8.13_o and_o whatever_o man_n think_v in_o their_o mind_n or_o desire_v in_o their_o heart_n or_o it_o will_v be_v upright_a and_o complete_a such_o as_o at_o present_a his_o law_n require_v and_o such_o as_o at_o the_o last_o day_n he_o will_v accept_v of_o and_o reward_v we_o for_o law_n two_o it_o must_v be_v a_o obedience_n to_o the_o whole_a law_n second_o as_o it_o be_v necessary_a to_o the_o integrity_n of_o our_o obedience_n that_o we_o obey_v his_o holy_a will_n and_o commandment_n with_o our_o whole_a man_n with_o our_o mind_n our_o soul_n our_o will_n and_o our_o strength_n so_o that_o we_o obey_v his_o whole_a law_n and_o conform_v ourselves_o to_o every_o of_o his_o commandment_n we_o must_v not_o think_v to_o pick_v and_o choose_v in_o the_o do_n of_o our_o duty_n for_o if_o we_o do_v not_o obey_v all_o we_o obey_v not_o right_a in_o any_o because_o all_o the_o law_n of_o god_n be_v bind_v upon_o we_o by_o the_o same_o power_n and_o enjoin_v by_o the_o same_o authority_n so_o that_o if_o we_o fulfil_v any_o one_o upon_o this_o account_n of_o his_o have_v require_v it_o the_o same_o reason_n hold_v for_o the_o fulfil_n of_o all_o the_o rest_n this_o indeed_o be_v very_o hardly_o believe_v because_o it_o be_v so_o hard_a to_o practice_v for_o almost_o every_o man_n have_v some_o sin_n or_o other_o which_o he_o can_v as_o well_o die_v as_o part_v with_o it_o have_v get_v his_o heart_n and_o be_v become_v the_o master_n of_o his_o affection_n and_o since_o he_o love_v it_o so_o dear_o he_o hope_v god_n will_v bear_v with_o it_o too_o and_o when_o man_n be_v thus_o desirous_a to_o obey_v god_n by_o half_n and_o will_v hope_v that_o this_o may_v serve_v the_o turn_n they_o take_v to_o themselves_o false_a ground_n and_o confidence_n under_o which_o they_o shelter_v themselves_o in_o the_o allowance_n or_o indulgence_n of_o such_o sin_n as_o they_o be_v resolve_v to_o practice_v and_o when_o they_o do_v wilful_o continue_v in_o the_o practice_n of_o any_o sin_n they_o usual_o plead_v one_o or_o more_o of_o these_o thing_n in_o excuse_n excuse_n this_o endeavour_v to_o be_v evade_v by_o excuse_n first_o that_o they_o sin_v for_o the_o preservation_n of_o their_o religion_n and_o themselves_o in_o time_n of_o danger_n and_o persecution_n or_o second_o for_o the_o supply_n of_o their_o necessity_n by_o sinful_a art_n compliance_n and_o service_n and_o in_o time_n of_o want_n and_o indigency_n or_o three_o for_o the_o satisfaction_n of_o their_o flesh_n in_o sin_n of_o temper_n age_n or_o way_n of_o life_n vain_a but_o in_o vain_a but_o whosoever_o will_v obey_v god_n law_n to_o the_o salvation_n of_o his_o soul_n must_v obey_v in_o every_o instance_n and_o continue_v wilful_o to_o transgress_v in_o none_o he_o must_v never_o hope_v to_o please_v god_n in_o nothing_o but_o what_o he_o list_v himself_o for_o
