this Law depart out of thy mouth but occupie thy minde therein day and night that thou mayest obserue and do according to all that is written therein for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous and then thou shalt doe wisely Haue not I commaunded thee that thou shouldest bee strong and hardy and not feare nor bee faint hearted for I the Lord thy God am with thee whithersoeuer thou goest Then Iosuah commanded the officers of the people saying Goe through the middest of the hoste and command the people saying Prepare your victuals for after three dayes yee shall passe ouer this Iordane to goe in and enioy the land which the Lord your God giueth you to possesse it And vnto the Reubenites Gadites and halfe the tribe of Manasses spake Iosuah saying Remember the word which Moses the seruant of the Lord commanded you saying The Lord your God hath giuen you rest and hath giuen you this land Your wiues your children and your cattell shall remaine in the land which Moses gaue you on this side Iordane but ye shall goe before your brethren armed all that bee men of warre and helpe them vntill the Lord haue giuen your brethren rest as hee hath you and vntill they also haue obtained the land which the Lord your GOD giueth them and then shall yee returne vnto the land of your possession and enioy it which land Moses the Lords seruant gaue you on this side Iordan toward the Sun rising And they answered Iosuah saying All that thou hast commanded vs wee will doe and whithersoeuer thou sendest vs we will goe According as we obeyed Moses in all things so will wee obey thee onely the Lord thy God bee with thee as he was with Moses And whosoeuer he be that doth disobey thy mouth and will not hearken vnto thy words in all that thou commandest him let him die onely be strong and of good courage The first Chapter of the second Booke of the Chronicles Or this may bee the first Lesson AND Solomon the Sonne of Dauid waxed strong in his kingdome and the Lord his God was with him and magnifyed him in dignity And Solomon spake vnto all Israel to the Captaines ouer thousands to the Captaines ouer hundreds to the Iudges and to euery Officer in all Israel and to the ancient fathers And so Solomon and all the Congregation with him went to the high place that was at Gibeon for there was the Tabernacle of the Congregation of God which Moses the seruant of the Lord made in the wildernes But the Arke of God had Dauid brought from Kiriath-iarim into the place which Dauid had made therefore for hee had pitched a tent for it at Hierusalem Moreouer the brasen Altar that Bezaleel the sonne of Vri the sonne of Hur had made was there before the Tabernacle of the Lord and Solomon and the Congregation went to visit it And Solomon went vp there before the Lord to the brazen Altar that was before the Tabernacle of the Congregation and offered a thousand whole burnt offerings vpon it And the same night did God appeare vnto Solomon and sayd vnto him Aske what I shal giue thee And Solomon said vnto God Thou hast shewed great mercy vnto Dauid my father and hast made mee to reigne in his stead Now therefore O Lord God let thy promise which thou madest vnto Dauid my father be true for thou hast made me king ouer a people which is like the dust of the earth in multitude Giue mee now wisedome and knowledge that I may be able to go in and out before this people for who els can iudge this people that is so great And God said to Solomon Because this was in thine heart and because thou hast not asked treasure and riches nor honour nor the liues of thine enemies neither yet long life but hast asked wisdome knowledge for thy self to iudge my people ouer whom I haue made thee king Wisedome and knowledge is granted vnto thee and I will giue thee treasure and riches and glory so that among the kings that haue beene before thee or after thee none was or shal be like thee And so Solomon came from the high place that was at Gibeon to Hierusalem from the Tabernacle of the Congregation and reigned ouer Israel And Solomon gathered charets horsemen and he had a thousand and foure hundred charets and twelue thousand horsemen whom he bestowed in the charet cities and with the King at Hierusalem And the King made siluer and gold at Hierusalem as plenteous as stones Cedar trees made he as plenteous as the mulbery trees that grow in the valleyes Also Solomon had horses brought out of Egypt and fine linnen the kings marchants receiued the fine linnen for a price They came also and brought out of Egypt a charet for sixe hundred pieces of siluer euen an horse for an hundred and fifty and so brought they horses for al the kings of the Hittites and for the kings of Syria by their owne hand Te Deum laudamus VVEe praise thee O God we knowledge thee to be the Lord. All the earth doeth worship thee the Father euerlasting To thee all Angels cry alowde the heauens and all the powers therein To thee Cherubin and Seraphin continually doe cry Holy holy holy Lord God of Sabaoth Heauen and earth are full of the Maiestie of thy glory The glorious company of the Apostles praise thee The goodly fellowship of the Prophets praise thee The noble armie of Martyrs praise thee The holy Church thoughout all the world doeth knowledge thee The Father of an infinite Maiestie Thy honourable true and onely Sonne Also the holy Ghost the Comforter Thou art the King of glory O Christ Thou art the euerlasting Sonne of the Father When thou tookest vpon thee to deliuer man thou diddest not abhorre the Virgins wombe When thou haddest ouercome the sharpenesse of death thou diddest open the kingdome of heauen to all beleeuers Thou sittest on the right hand of God in the glory of the Father We beleeue that thou shalt come to be our Iudge We therefore pray thee helpe thy seruants whom thou hast redeemed with thy precious blood Make them to bee numbred with thy Saints in glory euerlasting O Lord saue thy people and blesse thine heritage Gouerne them and lift them vp for euer Day by day we magnifie thee And wee worship thy Name euer world without ende Uouchsafe O Lord to keepe vs this day without sinne O Lord haue mercy vpon vs haue mercy vpon vs. O Lord let thy mercie lighten vpon vs as our trust is in thee O Lord in thee haue I trusted let me neuer be confounded The second Lesson taken out of the Epistle of S.
