his_o charge_n d._n allen_n have_v not_o prove_v it_o in_o his_o pamphlet_n nor_o any_o where_o else_o neither_o be_v he_o able_a to_o prove_v it_o with_o the_o help_n of_o all_o the_o cardinal_n in_o rome_n yea_o and_o of_o the_o pope_n himself_o too_o while_o he_o live_v but_o such_o as_o be_v romanist_n be_v of_o another_o mind_n and_o will_v happy_o believe_v d._n allens_n bare_a affirmation_n in_o this_o behalf_n and_o so_o may_v be_v persuade_v not_o only_o that_o the_o pope_n have_v authority_n to_o excommunicate_v and_o depose_v prince_n at_o his_o pleasure_n but_o also_o that_o the_o subject_n of_o prince_n so_o excommunicate_a and_o depose_v by_o the_o pope_n may_v lawful_o and_o aught_o in_o duty_n to_o disobey_v and_o revolt_v from_o their_o service_n how_o they_o may_v be_v seduce_v by_o erroneous_a doctrine_n i_o know_v not_o but_o for_o other_o man_n that_o be_v either_o of_o sound_a religion_n or_o man_n indifferent_a or_o not_o so_o thorough_o and_o obstinate_o as_o upon_o a_o mere_a god_n selfewill_n addict_v to_o that_o faction_n i_o doubt_v not_o but_o they_o will_v be_v better_o advise_v then_o to_o give_v credit_n unto_o the_o affirmation_n of_o any_o man_n or_o the_o authority_n of_o any_o pope_n though_o he_o make_v himself_o more_o than_o a_o man_n be_v direct_o contradictory_n to_o the_o express_a word_n and_o will_v of_o god_n as_o have_v be_v show_v by_o the_o place_n of_o scripture_n above_o rehearse_v and_o by_o many_o more_o may_v be_v but_o because_o they_o also_o shall_v not_o have_v any_o colour_n of_o defence_n leave_v they_o whereby_o to_o excuse_v themselves_o so_o much_o as_o upon_o ignorance_n in_o this_o behalf_n i_o will_v since_o i_o be_o enter_v into_o it_o lie_v before_o they_o in_o as_o few_o word_n as_o i_o can_v the_o abuse_n of_o d._n allen_n whereby_o he_o go_v about_o to_o deceive_v they_o in_o this_o point_n and_o prove_v direct_o and_o manifest_o unto_o they_o that_o neither_o the_o pope_n have_v any_o authority_n to_o depose_v prince_n from_o their_o throne_n which_o be_v the_o ground_n whereon_o he_o build_v his_o warrant_n of_o revolt_n and_o further_o that_o it_o be_v utter_o unlawful_a for_o the_o subject_n for_o any_o such_o occasion_n to_o deny_v the_o prince_n the_o obedience_n subjection_n and_o service_n due_a unto_o he_o much_o more_o in_o traitorous_a manner_n to_o rebel_v against_o he_o which_o d._n allen_n so_o allow_v and_o commend_v first_o therefore_o as_o concern_v the_o pope_n authority_n prince_n to_o depose_v prince_n i_o demand_v from_o who_o he_o have_v that_o authority_n whether_o of_o himself_o or_o from_o god_n of_o himself_o i_o know_v he_o will_v not_o say_v for_o that_o be_v as_o great_a arrogancy_n as_o absurdity_n in_o he_o to_o say_v and_o if_o he_o will_v as_o perhaps_o he_o can_v be_v content_a to_o take_v it_o upon_o himself_o if_o he_o think_v it_o may_v go_v for_o currant_n yet_o can_v he_o not_o yield_v any_o colour_n or_o show_v of_o reason_n to_o maintain_v it_o be_v prince_n contrary_a to_o the_o express_a word_n of_o god_n for_o there_o be_v no_o power_n say_v the_o apostle_n but_o of_o god_n and_o the_o power_n that_o be_v be_v ordain_v of_o god_n then_o can_v the_o pope_n have_v no_o power_n or_o authority_n of_o himself_o unless_o he_o will_v affirm_v himself_o to_o be_v god_n god_n and_o the_o prince_n be_v a_o power_n and_o consequent_o ordain_v of_o god_n it_o be_v great_a presumption_n in_o he_o to_o affirm_v and_o great_a blindness_n in_o man_n to_o believe_v that_o the_o authority_n of_o man_n can_v frustrate_v or_o take_v away_o the_o ordinance_n of_o god_n it_o rest_v therefore_o that_o the_o pope_n if_o he_o have_v any_o god_n authority_n to_o depose_v prince_n he_o must_v have_v it_o from_o god_n word_n and_o if_o he_o have_v it_o from_o god_n they_o be_v there_o some_o warrant_n in_o his_o word_n to_o authorise_v the_o pope_n thereunto_o prince_n but_o there_o be_v not_o any_o place_n of_o scripture_n that_o give_v the_o pope_n any_o express_a power_n to_o depose_v prince_n god_n and_o therefore_o have_v he_o no_o such_o authority_n from_o god_n for_o the_o proof_n of_o my_o minor_n first_o it_o be_v likely_a that_o none_o if_o there_o be_v any_o such_o place_n of_o scripture_n as_o give_v the_o pope_n express_v power_n to_o depose_v prince_n d._n allen_n will_v undoubted_o have_v allege_v it_o for_o the_o more_o credit_n of_o the_o cause_n and_o not_o have_v pass_v it_o over_o with_o a_o bare_a affirmation_n be_v a_o matter_n heretofore_o by_o many_o and_o manifest_a argument_n and_o proof_n of_o scripture_n clear_o disproove_v and_o convince_v against_o he_o second_o for_o further_a confirmation_n thereof_o i_o reason_v thus_o beside_o the_o obedience_n and_o subjection_n which_o god_n have_v command_v in_o the_o scripture_n to_o be_v do_v unto_o prince_n he_o have_v further_a forbid_v all_o man_n 20._o to_o speak_v evil_a of_o the_o ruler_n of_o the_o people_n or_o to_o curse_v the_o king_n yea_o so_o much_o as_o in_o thought_n whereupon_o i_o frame_v this_o argument_n do_v god_n forbid_v all_o man_n to_o curse_v the_o king_n yea_o so_o much_o as_o in_o thought_n ergo_fw-la he_o forbid_v the_o pope_n to_o curse_v the_o king_n so_o much_o as_o in_o thought_n and_o he_o that_o forbid_v to_o do_v the_o less_o much_o more_o forbid_v to_o do_v the_o great_a but_o it_o be_v far_o great_a to_o curse_v the_o k._n indeed_o &_o open_o and_o to_o deprive_v he_o of_o his_o kingdom_n then_o to_o curse_v he_o in_o thought_n only_o or_o to_o speak_v evil_a of_o he_o ergo_fw-la god_n forbid_v the_o pope_n to_o speak_v evil_a of_o the_o king_n or_o to_o curse_v he_o in_o his_o thought_n much_o more_o forbid_v he_o to_o curse_v the_o king_n open_o or_o to_o deprive_v he_o of_o his_o kingdom_n whereupon_o it_o follow_v by_o good_a consequence_n that_o god_n do_v not_o in_o any_o place_n of_o scripture_n authorise_v the_o pope_n to_o depose_v prince_n for_o so_o shall_v he_o allow_v and_o warrant_v that_o in_o one_o place_n which_o he_o have_v forbid_v in_o another_o whereof_o you_o see_v what_o inconvenience_n shall_v follow_v that_o god_n shall_v command_v contrary_n and_o the_o scripture_n shall_v be_v repugnant_a to_o themselves_o which_o be_v plain_a atheism_n to_o affirm_v whereby_o it_o may_v be_v clear_a scripture_n admit_v or_o authorise_v any_o man_n contrary_a to_o this_o inhibition_n to_o curse_v excommunicate_a and_o depose_v prince_n another_o out_o of_o their_o kingdom_n for_o that_o be_v to_o countermand_v his_o own_o commandment_n and_o to_o show_v himself_o variable_a inconstant_a &_o repugnant_a to_o himself_o which_o be_v high_a impiety_n for_o any_o man_n to_o imagine_v thus_o you_o see_v beside_o the_o presumption_n which_o be_v to_o be_v gather_v out_o of_o d._n allens_n own_o deal_n in_o that_o he_o allege_v no_o place_n of_o scripture_n to_o warrant_v the_o pope_n deprive_v that_o which_o be_v of_o itself_o so_o manifest_a that_o the_o pope_n neither_o have_v nor_o can_v have_v any_o express_a authority_n give_v he_o direct_o by_o the_o word_n of_o god_n to_o depose_v prince_n which_o be_v the_o thing_n that_o god_n reserve_v whole_o to_o himself_o for_o it_o be_v he_o not_o the_o pope_n that_o depose_v the_o mighty_a from_o their_o seat_n &_o exalt_v 22._o they_o that_o be_v low_a it_o be_v he_o not_o the_o pope_n that_o put_v down_o king_n &_o set_v up_o king_n and_o give_v kingdom_n to_o whosoever_o he_o will_n for_o god_n have_v ordain_v king_n prince_n to_o rule_v his_o people_n and_o to_o represent_v his_o own_o majesty_n
neither_o the_o prophet_n ever_o counsel_v or_o move_v the_o people_n to_o disobey_v saul_n be_v so_o depose_v nor_o the_o people_n ever_o offer_v to_o revolt_v or_o to_o deny_v he_o their_o obedience_n &_o service_n nor_o david_n the_o true_a and_o rightful_a king_n appoint_v by_o god_n in_o his_o place_n ever_o seek_v or_o consent_v to_o deprive_v he_o of_o the_o kingdom_n though_o due_a unto_o himself_o but_o notwithstanding_o he_o know_v he_o to_o be_v his_o deadly_a enemy_n and_o to_o hunt_v after_o his_o life_n yet_o have_v he_o twice_o in_o his_o hand_n where_o he_o may_v safe_o have_v slay_v he_o and_o thereby_o invest_v himself_o of_o the_o kingdom_n nevertheless_o will_v he_o neither_o touch_v he_o himself_o nor_o suffer_v any_o other_o to_o touch_v he_o call_v he_o the_o lord_n anoint_v and_o esteem_v it_o a_o high_a sin_n to_o lay_v his_o hand_n on_o he_o though_o he_o be_v depose_v by_o god_n himself_o himself_o and_o which_o be_v yet_o most_o notable_a cause_v the_o messenger_n that_o bring_v he_o the_o first_o news_n of_o his_o death_n to_o be_v forthwith_o slay_v for_o his_o labour_n and_o all_o this_o notwithstanding_o yet_o be_v not_o d._n allen_n ashamed_a to_o wrest_v this_o example_n quite_o contrary_a to_o the_o truth_n for_o a_o precedent_n to_o prove_v that_o the_o pope_n have_v authority_n to_o depose_v and_o deprive_v prince_n both_o of_o their_o kingdom_n and_o life_n and_o to_o release_v &_o discharge_v the_o subject_n of_o their_o allegiance_n and_o further_o that_o it_o be_v lawful_a for_o subject_n to_o revolt_v from_o their_o sovereigns_n to_o yield_v up_o their_o hold_n treacherous_o unto_o their_o enemy_n and_o to_o bear_v arm_n this_o against_o they_o to_o which_o doctrine_n he_o can_v not_o have_v find_v in_o all_o the_o whole_a scripture_n though_o all_o be_v flat_a against_o it_o any_o one_o example_n more_o direct_o contrary_a than_o this_o the_o judgement_n whereof_o i_o refer_v to_o the_o reason_n consideration_n and_o conscience_n of_o all_o man_n that_o have_v any_o spark_n of_o christianity_n moral_a virtue_n or_o natural_a reason_n in_o they_o now_o then_o if_o none_o of_o all_o these_o example_n of_o scripture_n conclusion_n which_o d._n allen_n have_v cite_v to_o prove_v the_o pope_n authority_n to_o depose_v prince_n do_v show_v that_o any_o of_o those_o prince_n who_o he_o mention_v be_v depose_v either_o by_o priest_n or_o prophet_n as_o he_o false_o assume_v but_o by_o god_n himself_o how_o can_v he_o then_o infer_v upon_o these_o example_n that_o the_o pope_n have_v any_o such_o authority_n unless_o he_o attribute_v as_o i_o say_v before_o as_o much_o authority_n unto_o he_o as_o to_o god_n himself_o and_o if_o saul_n be_v depose_v by_o god_n himself_o yet_o neither_o the_o prophet_n do_v thereupon_o dissuade_v the_o people_n from_o obey_v he_o nor_o the_o people_n once_o offer_v to_o revolt_v from_o he_o but_o continue_v in_o all_o duty_n and_o obedience_n towards_o he_o as_o long_o as_o he_o live_v which_o be_v many_o year_n after_o his_o deposition_n and_o if_o david_n be_v the_o lawful_a anoint_a king_n in_o his_o place_n yet_o neither_o seek_v to_o put_v he_o out_o of_o the_o kingdom_n but_o yield_v he_o obedience_n and_o service_n call_v he_o lord_n &_o master_n during_o his_o life_n &_o think_v it_o sin_n to_o lay_v his_o hand_n on_o he_o notwithstanding_o he_o be_v depose_v &_o last_o in_o token_n of_o the_o mislike_v and_o displeasure_n he_o take_v at_o the_o death_n of_o saul_n cause_v the_o messenger_n that_o bring_v he_o the_o tiding_n thereof_o to_o be_v slay_v how_o can_v d._n allen_n by_o this_o example_n induce_v man_n of_o any_o reason_n or_o sense_n to_o believe_v that_o either_o the_o pope_n may_v lawful_o authorise_v encourage_v or_o exhort_v subject_n to_o disobey_v or_o to_o lay_v hand_n on_o the_o lord_n anoint_v or_o that_o any_o subject_n may_v lawful_o renounce_v his_o allegiance_n revolt_n from_o and_o bear_v arm_n against_o his_o sovereign_n be_v a_o lawful_a prince_n only_o upon_o a_o colourable_a warrant_n of_o deposition_n by_o a_o man_n a_o priest_n a_o stranger_n who_o have_v no_o authority_n in_o the_o world_n to_o depose_v any_o prince_n from_o his_o kingdom_n no_o though_o he_o be_v a_o infidel_n but_o be_v himself_o even_o by_o god_n ordinance_n a_o subject_n to_o prince_n with_o what_o face_n can_v he_o utter_v such_o manifest_a untruth_n with_o what_o confidence_n can_v he_o persuade_v himself_o to_o be_v believe_v when_o his_o lie_n be_v so_o monstrous_a and_o his_o imposture_n so_o evident_a but_o most_o of_o all_o with_o what_o conscience_n can_v he_o presume_v to_o force_v the_o word_n of_o god_n to_o his_o purpose_n which_o be_v so_o direct_o against_o he_o but_o hereby_o may_v all_o man_n plain_o perceive_v how_o small_a regard_n that_o sect_n have_v unto_o religion_n but_o only_o to_o serve_v their_o turn_n which_o be_v not_o ashamed_a to_o make_v such_o impudent_a and_o ungodly_a shift_n to_o maintain_v their_o usurp_a authority_n call_v you_o this_o holiness_n m._n d._n to_o abuse_v the_o people_n with_o false_a doctrine_n to_o belie_v the_o scripture_n &_o to_o pervert_v the_o most_o sacred_a word_n of_o god_n &_o to_o rob_v he_o of_o his_o own_o peculiar_a authority_n and_o prerogative_n for_o the_o defence_n and_o furtherance_n of_o your_o own_o rebellious_a practice_n in_o truth_n it_o resemble_v himself_o much_o the_o holiness_n of_o your_o holy_a thief_n who_o it_o please_v you_o somewhat_o merry_o in_o your_o pamphlet_n to_o compare_v unto_o we_o but_o in_o truth_n a_o right_a pattern_n of_o your_o own_o profession_n which_o to_o speak_v true_o what_o i_o think_v in_o my_o conscience_n be_v much_o discredit_v by_o your_o own_o double_a deal_n you_o yourself_o to_o further_a your_o own_o purpose_n as_o you_o suppose_v can_v prefix_v before_o your_o pamphlet_n even_o in_o the_o first_o page_n as_o a_o sentence_n under_o the_o title_n thereof_o the_o resolution_n give_v by_o christ_n upon_o 22._o the_o tempt_a demand_n of_o the_o pharisee_n reddite_fw-la quae_fw-la sunt_fw-la caesaris_fw-la caesari_n wherein_o christ_n himself_o command_v doctrine_n all_o man_n to_o give_v unto_o caesar_n that_o be_v to_o the_o king_n and_o civil_a magistrate_n whatsoever_o be_v due_a unto_o he_o that_o be_v fear_n honour_n subjection_n and_o tribute_n and_o how_o dare_v you_o then_o even_o in_o the_o same_o pamphlet_n countermand_v this_o commandment_n of_o our_o saviour_n bend_v all_o your_o force_n craft_n and_o cunning_a to_o persuade_v the_o subject_n to_o resist_v his_o sovereign_n and_o thereby_o to_o break_v this_o high_a and_o peremptory_a commandment_n but_o you_o say_v the_o pope_n have_v authority_n to_o discharge_v the_o subject_n of_o this_o duty_n and_o obedience_n which_o be_v here_o command_v show_v i_o then_o i_o pray_v you_o some_o text_n of_o scripture_n that_o give_v the_o pope_n so_o
