best_a thing_n and_o their_o dear_a sin_n wherein_o they_o find_v a_o kind_n of_o counterfeit_a content_n and_o felicity_n which_o shall_v be_v future_o requite_v with_o future_a infelicity_n and_o horror_n happy_a then_o shall_v that_o man_n be_v even_o here_o seem_v he_o never_o so_o unhappy_a that_o for_o this_o pearl_n will_v sell_v all_o his_o carnal_a and_o corporal_a delight_n to_o buy_v esteem_v but_o what_o happiness_n be_v there_o in_o any_o of_o these_o beauty_n decay_v health_n impayr_v riches_n vanish_v honour_n be_v envy_v office_n dangerous_a long_a life_n a_o burden_n humane_a wisdom_n foolishness_n natural_a learning_n a_o puff_n of_o vain_a glory_n we_o may_v therefore_o conclude_v that_o if_o a_o man_n have_v all_o the_o former_a seem_a contentment_n yet_o may_v he_o not_o be_v happy_a for_o every_o of_o they_o draw_v with_o it_o as_o many_o disaster_n as_o variable_a accident_n &_o as_o many_o peevish_a passion_n of_o the_o mind_n which_o draw_v he_o into_o as_o many_o calamity_n and_o misery_n and_o therefore_o do_v no_o true_o wise_a man_n think_v that_o these_o be_v worthy_a the_o name_n of_o happiness_n for_o than_o have_v many_o heathen_n attain_v unto_o that_o best_a but_o true_a happiness_n consist_v only_o in_o the_o enjoy_n of_o god_n grace_n and_o spiritual_a blessing_n which_o carnal_a man_n who_o enjoy_v only_o the_o former_a have_v have_v no_o marvel_n than_o they_o find_v it_o not_o and_o yet_o persuade_v themselves_o they_o have_v in_o some_o measure_n what_o they_o desire_v every_o man_n in_o his_o peculiar_a affection_n and_o well_o may_v it_o be_v say_v in_o some_o measure_n for_o that_o in_o what_o measure_n soever_o they_o have_v that_o they_o crave_v yet_o they_o want_v the_o fullness_n of_o what_o they_o desire_v and_o therefore_o can_v there_o be_v no_o full_a content_n for_o where_o there_o be_v want_v some_o thing_n the_o want_n of_o the_o thing_n desire_v be_v a_o kind_n of_o inevitable_a misery_n contrary_a to_o the_o advice_n of_o the_o apostle_n that_o will_v to_o use_v this_o world_n as_o if_o we_o use_v it_o not_o use_v only_o this_o world_n and_o the_o vain_a pleasure_n of_o the_o same_o as_o if_o they_o persuade_v themselves_o that_o either_o they_o shall_v ever_o remain_v here_o or_o that_o after_o this_o there_o will_v be_v no_o other_o be_v whereas_o the_o contrary_a be_v most_o apparent_a for_o this_o world_n pass_v away_o and_o the_o glory_n thereof_o and_o therefore_o shall_v we_o so_o live_v as_o only_o to_o pass_v through_o it_o as_o the_o jsralite_n through_o the_o red-sea_n that_o we_o may_v arrive_v in_o heavenly_a canaan_n the_o place_n of_o true_a felicity_n happiness_n and_o absolute_a content_n in_o deed_n for_o the_o great_a pleasure_n and_o dear_a yet_o we_o see_v that_o he_o be_v account_v the_o happy_a man_n that_o be_v even_o drink_v with_o this_o world_n vanity_n therefore_o do_v the_o true_o wise_a pass_n by_o they_o as_o it_o be_v tell_v he_o when_o he_o that_o tell_v it_o speak_v he_o know_v not_o what_o his_o mind_n be_v upon_o some_o other_o matter_n will_v god_n then_o accept_v of_o those_o prayer_n which_o only_o be_v from_o the_o lip_n when_o the_o heart_n think_v of_o nothing_o less_o than_o what_o the_o mouth_n speak_v their_o word_n may_v be_v the_o word_n of_o holy_a prayer_n indeed_o but_o if_o the_o heart_n consent_v not_o nay_o if_o the_o mind_n the_o will_n and_o affection_n and_o the_o understanding_n agree_v not_o with_o the_o mouth_n though_o the_o word_n be_v good_a the_o prayer_n be_v counterfeit_a true_a and_o fervent_a faithful_a and_o feel_a prayer_n will_v easy_o be_v disern_v from_o cold_a and_o counterfeit_n for_o whereas_o a_o man_n may_v fluent_o without_o stop_n or_o stagger_v pour_v forth_o many_o and_o good_a word_n either_o by_o heart_n or_o book_n think_v that_o god_n have_v enough_o if_o he_o have_v many_o and_o good_a word_n he_o can_v but_o acknowledge_v that_o he_o do_v but_o flatter_v god_n &_o so_o commit_v sin_n instead_o of_o a_o sacrifice_n but_o the_o prayer_n that_o please_v god_n and_o profit_v a_o man_n self_n come_v from_o the_o heart_n to_o the_o lip_n or_o the_o heart_n itself_o sigh_n and_o groan_n unto_o god_n in_o such_o vehemency_n of_o spirit_n as_o if_o not_o with_o outward_a tear_n yet_o do_v the_o heart_n rend_v itself_o be_v liberty_n and_o life_n protection_n and_o plenty_n of_o all_o good_a thing_n make_v my_o heart_n stable_n &_o unblameable_a before_o thou_o in_o holiness_n that_o i_o may_v serve_v thou_o with_o a_o sincere_a and_o pure_a conscience_n and_o undefiled_a that_o i_o may_v not_o come_v into_o thy_o house_n only_o to_o be_v see_v and_o to_o seem_v serviceable_a or_o dutiful_a unto_o thou_o but_o may_v inward_o hunger_n &_o thirst_n for_o thy_o word_n the_o food_n of_o my_o soul_n the_o bread_n of_o life_n and_o imprint_v the_o same_o so_o effectual_o in_o my_o soul_n that_o it_o may_v prove_v countenance_n i_o may_v ever_o posâ—sesse_v my_o soul_n in_o that_o peace_n which_o pass_v all_o understanding_n evermore_o reverence_v thy_o glorious_a majesty_n that_o evermore_o fill_v both_o the_o happiness_n here_o in_o this_o wilderness_n of_o so_o many_o vanity_n misery_n and_o trouble_n as_o be_v among_o the_o child_n of_o man_n as_o for_o i_o lord_n thou_o know_v whereof_o i_o be_o make_v thou_o remember_v that_o i_o be_o but_o dust_n what_o happiness_n therefore_o lord_n can_v i_o look_v to_o obtain_v here_o where_o sin_n dwell_v in_o my_o mortal_a body_n
