quantity_n &_o degree_n which_o god_n do_v not_o hold_v fit_a for_o you_o as_o yet_o or_o you_o ask_v good_a thing_n to_o a_o ill_a end_n as_o to_o satisfy_v some_o lust_n as_o pride_n voluptuousness_n covetousness_n or_o some_o other_o or_o it_o may_v be_v you_o may_v ask_v only_o with_o a_o natural_a desire_n or_o if_o with_o spiritual_a yet_o you_o do_v it_o but_o faint_o without_o fervour_n or_o last_o though_o you_o fail_v in_o neither_o of_o the_o former_a yet_o you_o fail_v in_o this_o you_o be_v doubtful_a you_o do_v not_o ask_v in_o faith_n you_o do_v not_o believe_v you_o shall_v have_v the_o thing_n so_o ask_v whosoever_o do_v thus_o fail_v in_o ask_v 7_o let_v they_o not_o think_v ever_o to_o receive_v any_o thing_n in_o favour_n from_o the_o lord_n and_o it_o be_v a_o fruit_n of_o god_n love_n when_o he_o do_v not_o answer_v prayer_n so_o make_v for_o it_o will_v cause_v you_o to_o seek_v he_o and_o to_o pray_v to_o he_o in_o a_o better_a manner_n that_o you_o may_v be_v hear_v second_o god_n do_v many_o time_n in_o love_n and_o mercy_n hear_v way_n his_o child_n prayer_n when_o they_o think_v he_o do_v not_o god_n hear_v prayer_n many_o way_n you_o must_v observe_v this_o else_o you_o will_v judge_v that_o he_o do_v not_o hear_v your_o prayer_n when_o yet_o indeed_o he_o do_v sometime_o yea_o always_o when_o it_o be_v good_a for_o you_o he_o give_v the_o uâ—râ—_n thing_n which_o you_o pray_v for_o sometimes_o he_o give_v not_o that_o thing_n which_o you_o ask_v but_o some_o thing_n good_a nay_o much_o better_a as_o when_o you_o ask_v corporal_a and_o temporal_a good_a thing_n he_o deny_v to_o grant_v they_o but_o in_o stead_n thereof_o do_v give_v you_o thing_n spiritual_a and_o eternal_a likewise_o when_o you_o ask_v grace_n in_o some_o special_a degree_n such_o as_o joy_n or_o comfort_n in_o god_n or_o the_o like_a it_o may_v please_v he_o not_o to_o let_v it_o appear_v that_o he_o give_v the_o same_o unto_o you_o but_o in_o stead_n thereof_o he_o do_v enlarge_v your_o desire_n and_o he_o give_v humility_n and_o patience_n to_o wait_v his_o leisure_n which_o will_v do_v you_o more_o good_a than_o that_o which_o you_o pray_v for_o so_o likewise_o when_o you_o pray_v that_o god_n will_v rid_v and_o ease_v you_o of_o such_o or_o such_o a_o temptation_n god_n do_v not_o always_o rid_v and_o ease_v you_o of_o it_o but_o he_o in_o stead_n thereof_o give_v you_o strength_n to_o withstand_v it_o and_o keep_v you_o that_o you_o be_v not_o overcome_v by_o it_o thus_o christ_n 7._o be_v hear_v in_o that_o which_o he_o fear_v so_o he_o say_v to_o the_o 9_o apostle_n my_o grace_n be_v sufficient_a for_o thou_o which_o be_v better_o than_o to_o have_v your_o particular_a request_n for_o now_o god_n power_n be_v see_v in_o your_o weakness_n and_o god_n have_v the_o glory_n of_o it_o and_o you_o hereby_o have_v experience_n of_o god_n power_n which_o experienceis_n of_o excellent_a use_n likewise_o you_o may_v desire_v to_o have_v such_o or_o such_o a_o cross_n remove_v yet_o god_n may_v suffer_v the_o cross_n to_o remain_v for_o a_o time_n but_o he_o give_v you_o strength_n and_o patience_n to_o bear_v it_o wisdom_n and_o grace_n to_o be_v less_o earthly_a and_o more_o heavenly_a mind_a by_o reason_n of_o it_o there_o be_v never_o any_o that_o with_o a_o holy_a and_o humble_a heart_n make_v lawful_a request_n according_a to_o the_o will_n of_o christ_n believe_v he_o shall_v be_v hear_v but_o though_o he_o be_v a_o man_n of_o many_o fail_n in_o himself_o and_o do_v discover_v many_o weakness_n in_o his_o prayer_n be_v hear_v in_o that_o he_o pray_v either_o in_o what_o he_o do_v ask_v or_o in_o what_o he_o shall_v rather_o have_v ask_v either_o in_o that_o very_a thing_n or_o in_o a_o better_a i_o will_v have_v you_o leave_v object_v and_o question_v whether_o god_n love_v you_o consider_v this_o have_v he_o not_o love_v you_o 16._o that_o have_v give_v his_o only_o be_v get_v son_n for_o you_o and_o to_o you_o 5._o who_o have_v wash_v you_o with_o his_o blood_n 25._o have_v give_v he_o to_o die_v for_o your_o sin_n and_o to_o rise_v again_o for_o your_o justification_n and_o have_v hereby_o translate_v you_o into_o the_o kingdom_n of_o his_o dear_a son_n have_v also_o 29_o give_v unto_o you_o to_o believe_v in_o his_o name_n hereby_o 12_o make_v you_o his_o child_n inheritor_n with_o the_o saint_n in_o light_n what_o great_a sign_n can_v there_o be_v of_o great_a love_n of_o god_n towards_o you_o and_o what_o better_a evidence_n can_v you_o have_v of_o god_n love_n in_o justify_v of_o you_o than_o the_o 1_o evidence_n of_o your_o faith_n whereby_o you_o be_v 28_o justify_v section_n 5._o a_o removal_n of_o false_a fear_n rise_v from_o doubt_n whether_o they_o have_v faith_n and_o be_v justify_v all_o man_n will_v grant_v that_o if_o they_o be_v sure_a that_o they_o
which_o also_o do_v minister_n unto_o you_o matter_n of_o assure_a hope_n and_o remove_v comfort_n another_o will_v say_v i_o do_v even_o faint_a in_o my_o trouble_n and_o in_o my_o fear_n and_o i_o be_o ready_a to_o give_v over_o all_o what_o shall_v i_o do_v what_o will_v you_o have_v i_o to_o do_v your_o case_n be_v not_o singular_a many_o answ_n other_o have_v be_v and_o be_v in_o this_o case_n it_o be_v no_o otherwise_o with_o you_o than_o it_o be_v with_o the_o psalmist_n and_o jonah_n do_v as_o they_o in_o that_o their_o faint_a do_v first_o give_v not_o over_o but_o remember_v god_n call_v upon_o he_o give_v he_o no_o rest_n second_o trust_v on_o he_o and_o 24._o wait_v until_o you_o have_v comfort_n that_o holy_a man_n of_o god_n say_v 26._o my_o flesh_n and_o my_o heart_n servant_n that_o walk_v in_o darkness_n and_o have_v no_o light_n let_v he_o trust_v in_o the_o name_n of_o the_o lord_n 24._o and_o stay_v upon_o his_o god_n mark_v it_o he_o that_o fear_v and_o obey_v yet_o may_v be_v in_o darkness_n and_o have_v no_o light_n what_o darkness_n be_v this_o but_o that_o speak_v of_o vers_n 4._o viz._n a_o afflict_a weary_a soul_n without_o light_n of_o comfort_n and_o man_n thus_o distress_v must_v trust_v in_o the_o lord_n and_o stay_v on_o their_o god_n yet_o these_o poor_a soul_n who_o 〈◊〉_d whether_o they_o shall_v be_v sharp_o reprove_v or_o pity_v more_o be_v hard_o to_o say_v i_o be_o sure_a they_o deserve_v both_o will_v yet_o object_v strong_o it_o be_v true_a they_o that_o fear_v god_n and_o obey_v he_o may_v trust_v in_o the_o lord_n and_o stay_v upon_o god_n and_o he_o have_v make_v most_o rich_a promise_n to_o they_o that_o know_v he_o that_o do_v fear_v and_o obey_v he_o see_v here_o be_v promise_n with_o condition_n say_v one_o i_o must_v fear_v the_o lord_n i_o must_v obey_v he_o i_o know_v god_n will_v do_v his_o part_n if_o i_o can_v do_v i_o but_o these_o i_o do_v not_o what_o warrant_v then_o or_o ground_n have_v i_o to_o look_v for_o comfort_n or_o any_o thing_n at_o god_n hand_n for_o his_o promise_n belong_v not_o to_o i_o i_o know_v well_o that_o with_o this_o answ_n doubt_n the_o devil_n do_v much_o perplex_v the_o afflict_a soul_n of_o many_o of_o god_n dear_a child_n and_o by_o it_o keep_v off_o all_o the_o remedy_n which_o god_n word_n can_v afford_v so_o that_o they_o can_v fasten_v and_o do_v they_o good_a for_o the_o proposition_n of_o the_o word_n be_v easy_o assent_v unto_o but_o all_o the_o matter_n lie_v in_o the_o application_n of_o they_o to_o the_o wound_n it_o be_v still_o put_v off_o and_o keep_v his_o commandment_n there_o he_o promise_v with_o condition_n here_o he_o absolute_o promise_v those_o on_o who_o he_o intend_v to_o bestow_v these_o blessing_n that_o he_o will_v put_v his_o fear_n in_o their_o heart_n that_o they_o may_v be_v capable_a of_o they_o and_o which_o be_v more_o to_o the_o end_n that_o man_n may_v repent_v believe_v and_o live_v godly_a which_o be_v the_o condition_n to_o which_o the_o promise_n of_o forgiveness_n and_o salvation_n be_v make_v god_n declare_v that_o he_o have_v raise_v christ_n and_o exalt_v 31_o he_o to_o be_v a_o prince_n and_o a_o saviour_n for_o to_o give_v this_o faith_n and_o repentance_n that_o their_o sin_n may_v be_v forgive_v and_o their_o soul_n save_v by_o he_o i_o pray_v consider_v well_o whether_o all_o these_o promise_n of_o this_o sort_n be_v not_o make_v absolute_o on_o god_n part_n and_o without_o any_o condition_n on_o man_n part_n wherefore_o whereas_o god_n have_v make_v many_o excellent_a promise_n of_o free_a and_o great_a reward_n as_o to_o hear_v the_o prayer_n and_o to_o fulfil_v the_o desire_n of_o they_o that_o fear_v he_o and_o to_o give_v life_n and_o glory_n to_o they_o that_o believe_v &_o obey_v he_o and_o that_o do_v hold_v fast_o the_o confidence_n and_o the_o rejoice_v to_o the_o end_n you_o see_v that_o here_o be_v promise_n of_o the_o first_o sort_n make_v with_o a_o kind_n of_o condition_n but_o that_o god_n will_v give_v his_o people_n both_o to_o will_v and_o to_o do_v these_o thing_n require_v in_o the_o condition_n he_o have_v absolute_o promise_v as_o have_v be_v clear_o prove_v if_o you_o yet_o reply_v and_o say_v be_v not_o reply_n these_o latter_a promise_n make_v under_o condition_n of_o our_o well_o use_v the_o outward_a mean_n thereof_o such_o as_o hear_n of_o the_o word_n prayer_n etc._n etc._n god_n indeed_o command_v answ_n these_o mean_n to_o be_v use_v and_o if_o we_o perform_v they_o aright_o god_n will_v not_o fail_v to_o bless_v the_o good_a use_n of_o these_o mean_n but_o this_o well_o use_v they_o be_v not_o in_o our_o own_o power_n neither_o be_v it_o a_o condition_n for_o which_o god_n be_v necessary_o bind_v to_o give_v faith_n and_o to_o plant_v his_o fear_n in_o our_o heart_n any_o otherwise_o than_o by_o his_o promise_n but_o it_o be_v a_o condition_n by_o which_o he_o have_v ordain_v ordinary_o to_o give_v these_o grace_n to_o all_o which_o in_o the_o use_n of_o they_o shall_v wait_v upon_o he_o for_o they_o for_o both_o the_o give_n of_o his_o word_n and_o the_o give_v we_o mind_n to_o hear_v the_o word_n and_o the_o open_n of_o the_o heart_n to_o attend_v and_o the_o convince_a and_o allure_a the_o heart_n to_o obey_v hang_v all_o upon_o those_o absolute_a promise_n 13_o they_o shall_v be_v all_o teach_v of_o god_n and_o the_o rest_n before_o mention_v wherefore_o let_v none_o of_o year_n caution_n think_v that_o without_o hear_v pray_v and_o the_o right_n use_v of_o god_n ordinance_n they_o shall_v ever_o have_v faith_n and_o the_o fear_n of_o god_n wrought_v in_o they_o or_o shall_v ever_o come_v to_o heaven_n for_o we_o be_v command_v to_o pray_v hear_v etc._n etc._n and_o that_o in_o faith_n or_o else_o we_o can_v never_o 7._o look_v to_o receive_v any_o thing_n of_o the_o lord_n and_o do_v what_o lie_v in_o manspower_v in_o the_o right_n use_v the_o mean_n of_o salvation_n be_v of_o great_a consequence_n although_o it_o be_v not_o a_o sufficient_a cause_n to_o move_v god_n necessary_o to_o give_v grace_n for_o i_o be_o persuade_v that_o the_o best_a shall_v have_v more_o grace_n if_o they_o will_v do_v what_o in_o they_o lay_v continual_o to_o make_v good_a use_n of_o the_o outward_a mean_n of_o grace_n and_o the_o worst_a shall_v be_v guilty_a of_o less_o sin_n if_o they_o will_v do_v what_o in_o they_o lay_v to_o profit_v by_o the_o good_a use_n of_o the_o say_a mean_n and_o the_o neglect_n or_o abuse_v of_o the_o 43_o mean_n be_v sufficient_a cause_n why_o god_n shall_v not_o only_o withhold_v grace_n but_o condemn_v man_n for_o refuse_v it_o but_o some_o will_v yet_o say_v let_v all_o which_o have_v be_v say_v be_v grant_v remove_v i_o
