he_o they_o have_v no_o promise_n to_o be_v hear_v and_o therefore_o want_v faith_n to_o come_v to_o christ_n they_o go_v to_o the_o saint_n to_o pray_v for_o they_o and_o yet_o the_o saint_n do_v never_o promise_v they_o so_o to_o do_v neither_o do_v they_o know_v whether_o the_o saint_n hear_v they_o or_o no._n again_o some_o pray_v in_o latin_a when_o they_o do_v not_o underderstand_v what_o one_o that_o behold_v thou_o will_v know_v that_o neither_o the_o devil_n the_o world_n nor_o thou_o own_o flesh_n have_v bestow_v these_o gift_n on_o thou_o but_o the_o father_n which_o be_v in_o heaven_n bless_a be_v the_o name_n of_o christ_n for_o his_o bountiful_a goodness_n bestow_v upon_o mankind_n he_o do_v not_o only_o bid_v man_n pray_v and_o promise_v they_o shall_v be_v hear_v but_o also_o tell_v they_o to_o who_o to_o pray_v and_o because_o man_n dare_v not_o go_v to_o god_n alone_o he_o bid_v they_o go_v in_o his_o name_n and_o promise_v that_o he_o will_v be_v there_o with_o they_o and_o he_o will_v be_v a_o mediator_n which_o none_o else_o can_v do_v and_o he_o will_v make_v peace_n between_o god_n and_o they_o and_o therefore_o any_o might_n bold_o come_v to_o he_o he_o teach_v they_o where_o to_o ask_v private_o and_o what_o to_o ask_v the_o holy_a ghost_n without_o the_o which_o wear_v fire-band_n of_o hell_n but_o if_o we_o have_v he_o we_o be_v saint_n in_o heaven_n even_o join_v to_o christ_n and_o as_o his_o member_n and_o yet_o he_o fear_v all_o this_o will_v not_o serve_v it_o be_v his_o great_a mercy_n to_o show_v we_o more_o concern_v two_o man_n which_o be_v pray_v and_o make_v we_o acquaint_v how_o they_o pray_v 18.10_o and_o how_o they_o speed_v christ_n say_v there_o be_v pharisie_n and_o a_o publican_n go_v into_o the_o temple_n to_o pray_v the_o pharisie_n be_v one_o that_o think_v himself_o a_o just_a man_n and_o despise_v other_o the_o publican_n account_v himself_o a_o sinner_n open_o know_v the_o pharisie_n stand_v up_o and_o pray_v and_o say_v i_o thank_v thou_o oh_o father_n i_o be_o not_o as_o other_o man_n be_v nor_o like_o this_o publican_n i_o fast_o twice_o in_o a_o week_n and_o give_v tithe_n of_o all_o that_o i_o have_v now_o you_o may_v see_v who_o they_o be_v that_o say_v i_o fast_o or_o we_o fast_o as_o if_o they_o shall_v say_v i_o fear_v it_o shall_v never_o be_v know_v that_o it_o be_v i_o or_o we_o that_o fast_o and_o pray_v and_o pay_v tithe_n of_o all_o that_o we_o have_v and_o that_o we_o deal_v just_o and_o keep_v the_o commandment_n but_o the_o publican_n stand_v a_o far_o off_o and_o dare_v not_o look_v up_o to_o heaven_n but_o smite_v on_o his_o breast_n and_o say_v lord_n be_v merciful_a to_o i_o a_o sinner_n here_o you_o see_v we_o must_v humble_v ourselves_o and_o confess_v our_o sin_n for_o christ_n say_v he_o go_v away_o justify_v rather_o than_o the_o other_o for_o he_o that_o humble_v himself_o shall_v be_v exalt_v and_o he_o that_o exalt_v himself_o shall_v be_v have_v thus_o merciful_o teach_v you_o to_o pray_v and_o give_v god_n thanks_n who_o have_v bring_v you_o into_o the_o world_n in_o such_o a_o time_n when_o as_o you_o may_v be_v teach_v to_o pray_v according_a to_o his_o word_n and_o i_o beseech_v he_o that_o you_o may_v pray_v according_a to_o his_o counsel_n chap._n 33._o no_o certain_a rule_n for_o private_a prayer_n now_o i_o will_v have_v you_o know_v that_o private_a prayer_n be_v for_o every_o man_n private_a use_n and_o therefore_o there_o be_v no_o certain_a rule_n neither_o can_v word_n be_v set_v down_o what_o you_o shall_v say_v prayer_n to_o god_n to_o get_v victory_n of_o that_o sin_n which_o otherwise_o will_v overcome_v and_o destroy_v he_o body_n and_o soul_n for_o ever_o and_o ever_o chap._n 34._o diverse_a man_n trouble_v with_o diverse_a sin_n some_o be_v trouble_v most_o with_o envy_n some_o with_o pride_n some_o with_o anger_n some_o with_o covetousness_n and_o some_o with_o sloth_n etc._n etc._n all_o these_o with_o a_o company_n that_o attend_v on_o they_o set_v upon_o every_o man_n but_o one_o must_v be_v captain_n then_o overcome_v the_o captain_n and_o all_o the_o army_n will_v be_v discomfit_v in_o war_n if_o the_o captain_n prevail_v the_o soldier_n will_v ruinate_v the_o city_n even_o so_o it_o be_v with_o sin_n if_o the_o chief_a sin_n get_v the_o victory_n it_o will_v let_v in_o a_o great_a number_n of_o enemy_n that_o will_v never_o leave_v until_o they_o have_v utterlie_o ruinate_v and_o bring_v to_o confusion_n the_o whole_a body_n and_o soul_n of_o a_o man_n and_o therefore_o every_o one_o ought_v to_o pray_v to_o god_n for_o help_v and_o assistance_n against_o his_o great_a temptation_n for_o if_o we_o overcome_v that_o the_o rest_n will_v fly_v as_o s._n james_n say_v resist_v the_o devil_n 4.7_o and_o he_o will_v fly_v from_o thou_o and_o this_o will_v be_v a_o great_a comfort_n to_o any_o man_n when_o he_o see_v his_o enemy_n can_v triumph_v over_o he_o then_o which_o will_v have_v teach_v he_o to_o have_v know_v god_n and_o himself_o if_o he_o pray_v sometime_o without_o knowledge_n and_o faith_n his_o prayer_n be_v vain_a and_o frivolous_a and_o thus_o he_o see_v it_o be_v his_o own_o negligence_n that_o bring_v he_o to_o hell_n because_o he_o will_v not_o labour_v for_o the_o meat_n that_o perish_v not_o and_o now_o he_o be_v so_o vex_v at_o himself_o because_o he_o do_v not_o follow_v the_o counsel_n of_o our_o bless_a saviour_n christ_n that_o take_v such_o pain_n for_o he_o and_o give_v he_o so_o many_o warning_n and_o tell_v he_o how_o he_o shall_v find_v it_o if_o he_o will_v follow_v his_o counsel_n that_o he_o will_v now_o if_o it_o be_v possible_a be_v revenge_v on_o himself_o as_o judas_n 27.5_o when_o he_o have_v do_v that_o which_o christ_n have_v warn_v he_o of_o and_o see_v that_o now_o it_o can_v not_o be_v undo_v he_o lay_v violent_a hand_n on_o himself_o to_o be_v revenge_v upon_o himself_o but_o when_o in_o the_o world_n yea_o many_o bait_n he_o lay_v and_o take_v many_o even_o with_o thing_n that_o be_v lawful_a to_o be_v use_v in_o the_o world_n by_o the_o appointment_n of_o god_n as_o you_o shall_v see_v meat_n be_v ordain_v of_o god_n for_o the_o nourishment_n of_o man_n and_o yet_o how_o many_o do_v satan_n take_v with_o the_o sin_n of_o gluttony_n and_o therefore_o take_v heed_n that_o thou_o eat_v temperate_o meat_n be_v ordain_v for_o the_o belly_n and_o the_o belly_n for_o meat_n but_o god_n will_v destroy_v both_o they_o and_o it_o 13._o drink_n be_v very_o lawful_a yet_o
