any_o thing_n possible_o can_v be_v speak_v 2._o but_o to_o proceed_v to_o the_o second_o kind_n of_o the_o extraordinary_a gift_n of_o prayer_n which_o be_v when_o a_o man_n receive_v all_o the_o the_o church_n wherein_o the_o faith_n of_o christ_n be_v plant_v much_o abound_v with_o such_o person_n as_o have_v the_o miraculous_a gift_n of_o the_o spirit_n but_o no_o where_n be_v there_o more_o of_o these_o than_o in_o the_o famous_a church_n of_o corinth_n which_o as_o it_o be_v zealous_a of_o these_o gift_n 1_o cor._n 14.12_o so_o have_v it_o a_o plentiful_a measure_n of_o they_o spirit_n dictate_v a_o prayer_n by_o a_o immediate_a inspiration_n 2._o the_o other_o ordinary_a as_o when_o a_o man_n pray_v hearty_o and_o fervent_o but_o not_o by_o immediate_a inspiration_n but_o in_o the_o use_n of_o faith_n and_o hope_n and_o all_o such_o other_o christian_a grace_n as_o be_v the_o fruit_n of_o the_o holy_a spirit_n and_o the_o cause_n of_o holy_a and_o good_a affection_n exercise_v itself_o to_o express_v and_o utter_v those_o conception_n in_o a_o tongue_n unknown_a to_o they_o that_o hear_v and_o in_o a_o familiar_a easy_a manner_n and_o such_o be_v the_o prayer_n the_o apostle_n mention_n in_o these_o word_n i_o will_v pray_v with_o the_o spirit_n and_o i_o will_v pray_v with_o the_o understanding_n also_o i_o will_v utter_v the_o very_a same_o conception_n which_o the_o holy_a spirit_n suggest_v to_o i_o but_o i_o will_v use_v my_o understanding_n to_o utter_v they_o in_o a_o know_a tongue_n and_o in_o easy_a and_o familiar_a expression_n concern_v christian_a assembly_n unless_o that_o either_o the_o person_n that_o pray_v or_o else_o some_o person_n present_v have_v the_o gift_n of_o interpret_n what_o be_v say_v the_o ground_n of_o which_o every_o man_n to_o imitate_v he_o in_o this_o world_n who_o he_o hope_v to_o enjoy_v in_o that_o to_o come_v to_o purify_v himself_o as_o god_n be_v pure_a he_o let_v they_o know_v the_o mighty_a power_n of_o the_o very_a hope_n of_o enjoy_v god_n in_o immortal_a glory_n in_o order_n to_o a_o holy_a life_n and_o every_o man_n that_o have_v this_o hope_n in_o he_o purify_v himself_o as_o he_o be_v pure_a where_o i_o shall_v not_o need_v to_o put_v you_o in_o mind_n that_o these_o word_n purify_v himself_o as_o he_o be_v pure_a design_n and_o express_v a_o imitation_n not_o a_o equality_n of_o god_n holiness_n and_o perfection_n the_o latter_a of_o these_o be_v whole_o impossible_a to_o every_o creature_n the_o former_a necessary_a for_o every_o person_n that_o serious_o aim_v at_o immortality_n nor_o shall_v i_o stand_v to_o divide_v the_o word_n into_o any_o small_a minute_n part_n lest_o by_o insist_v upon_o they_o i_o shall_v as_o it_o happen_v in_o such_o case_n lose_v or_o obscure_v the_o sense_n of_o the_o whole_a and_o trifle_v away_o the_o design_n of_o they_o and_o therefore_o omit_v useless_a care_n and_o curiosity_n i_o shall_v consider_v 1._o the_o nature_n of_o this_o hope_n which_o be_v say_v to_o purify_v they_o that_o have_v it_o 2._o and_o then_o second_o the_o several_a way_n whereby_o it_o have_v this_o effect_n upon_o they_o 3._o to_o which_o i_o find_v there_o be_v great_a number_n who_o profess_v the_o hope_n of_o future_a glory_n we_o have_v no_o reason_n to_o imagine_v but_o that_o they_o real_o hope_v for_o it_o according_a to_o their_o own_o profession_n and_o yet_o experience_n clear_o show_v that_o it_o have_v not_o this_o effect_n upon_o they_o which_o the_o apostle_n here_o describe_v they_o still_o continue_v in_o their_o sin_n from_o whence_o it_o appear_v this_o hope_n of_o they_o be_v not_o that_o which_o be_v here_o design_v it_o want_v the_o efficacy_n and_o success_n and_o therefore_o also_o the_o nature_n of_o it_o what_o then_o be_v the_o hope_n which_o our_o apostle_n here_o design_n a_o firm_a expectation_n of_o gain_v that_o happiness_n which_o god_n have_v promise_v consist_v in_o purity_n and_o immortality_n upon_o the_o term_n whereupon_o it_o be_v promise_v and_o by_o the_o assistance_n of_o his_o grace_n which_o he_o will_v not_o deny_v they_o that_o ask_v it_o this_o be_v style_v a_o any_o of_o these_o will_v not_o purify_v they_o that_o have_v it_o a_o hope_n that_o be_v not_o so_o deficient_a must_v of_o necessity_n be_v thus_o qualify_v 1._o it_o must_v be_v a_o expectation_n of_o that_o happiness_n which_o god_n have_v promise_v 2._o it_o must_v be_v a_o expectation_n of_o it_o upon_o the_o term_n whereupon_o it_o be_v promise_v 3._o it_o must_v be_v a_o firm_a and_o not_o a_o waver_a expectation_n 4._o it_o must_v be_v a_o firm_a expectation_n of_o it_o that_o be_v to_o say_v of_o attain_v to_o it_o by_o the_o assistance_n of_o god_n grace_n and_o not_o by_o the_o power_n or_o strength_n of_o nature_n this_o be_v the_o nature_n these_o the_o condition_n of_o that_o hope_n that_o purge_v the_o heart_n and_o reform_v the_o life_n and_o consequent_o save_v the_o soul_n of_o man_n no_o other_o kind_n of_o hope_n will_v do_v it_o 1._o it_o must_v be_v a_o expectation_n of_o that_o very_a happiness_n god_n have_v promise_v consist_v in_o the_o enjoyment_n of_o god_n in_o perfect_a purity_n and_o immortality_n the_o hope_n of_o a_o carnal_a sensual_a paradise_n will_v never_o purge_v and_o cleanse_v the_o spirit_n but_o on_o the_o contrary_n defile_v and_o stain_v it_o for_o although_o it_o be_v very_o true_a indeed_o that_o a_o man_n may_v possible_o deny_v himself_o one_o sensual_a pleasure_n in_o the_o expectation_n of_o another_o great_a than_o that_o he_o forego_v at_o present_a yet_o be_v it_o a_o thing_n whole_o impossible_a that_o the_o hope_n of_o any_o sensual_a happiness_n shall_v any_o way_n mortify_v sensuality_n he_o that_o
