for_o length_n of_o time_n too_o they_o be_v very_o notable_a but_o they_o have_v not_o the_o spirit_n of_o jesus_n christ_n to_o help_v they_o and_o therefore_o they_o do_v what_o they_o do_v with_o their_o infirmity_n or_o weakness_n only_o and_o so_o fall_v short_a of_o a_o sincere_a sensible_a affectionate_a pour_v out_o of_o their_o soul_n to_o god_n through_o the_o strength_n of_o the_o spirit_n that_o be_v the_o prayer_n that_o go_v to_o heaven_n that_o be_v send_v thither_o in_o the_o strength_n of_o the_o spirit_n for_o three_o nothing_o but_o the_o spirit_n can_v show_v a_o man_n clear_o his_o misery_n by_o nature_n and_o so_o put_v a_o man_n into_o a_o posture_n of_o prayer_n talk_n be_v but_o talk_n as_o we_o use_v to_o say_v and_o so_o it_o be_v but_o mouth-worship_n if_o there_o be_v not_o a_o sense_n of_o misery_n and_o that_o effectual_o too_o o_o the_o curse_a hypocrisy_n that_o be_v in_o most_o heart_n and_o that_o deny_v many_o thousand_o of_o pray_v man_n that_o will_v be_v so_o look_v upon_o in_o this_o day_n and_o all_o for_o want_v of_o a_o sense_n of_o their_o misery_n but_o now_o the_o spirit_n that_o will_v sweet_o show_v the_o soul_n its_o misery_n they_o and_o sudden_o to_o conclude_v that_o god_n will_v have_v no_o regard_n unto_o they_o when_o yet_o he_o be_v upon_o the_o mercy-seat_n and_o have_v take_v up_o his_o place_n on_o purpose_n there_o to_o the_o end_n he_o may_v hear_v and_o regard_v the_o prayer_n of_o poor_a creature_n if_o he_o have_v say_v i_o will_v commune_v with_o thou_o from_o my_o throne_n of_o judgement_n then_o indeed_o you_o may_v have_v tremble_v and_o flee_v from_o the_o face_n of_o the_o great_a and_o glorious_a majesty_n but_o when_o he_o say_v he_o will_v hear_v and_o commune_v with_o soul_n upon_o the_o throne_n of_o grace_n or_o from_o the_o mercy-seat_n this_o shall_v encourage_v thou_o and_o cause_v thou_o to_o hope_n nay_o to_o come_v bold_o to_o the_o throne_n of_o grace_n that_o thou_o may_v obtain_v mercy_n and_o find_v grace_n to_o help_v in_o time_n of_o need_n heb._n 4._o 16._o 3._o there_o be_v yet_o another_o encouragement_n to_o continue_v in_o prayer_n with_o god_n and_o that_o be_v this_o as_o there_o be_v a_o mercy-seat_n from_o whence_o god_n be_v willing_a to_o commune_v with_o poor_a sinner_n so_o there_o be_v also_o by_o this_o mercy-seat_n jesus_n christ_n who_o continual_o besprinkle_v it_o with_o his_o blood_n hence_o it_o be_v call_v the_o blood_n of_o sprinkle_v heb._n 12._o 14._o when_o the_o high_a priest_n under_o the_o law_n be_v to_o go_v into_o the_o holy_a where_o the_o mercy-seat_n be_v he_o may_v not_o go_v in_o without_o blood_n heb._n 9_o 7._o qu._n why_o so_o answ._n because_o though_o god_n be_v upon_o the_o mercy-seat_n yet_o he_o be_v perfect_o just_a as_o well_o as_o merciful_a the_o blood_n be_v to_o stop_v justice_n from_o run_v out_o upon_o the_o person_n concern_v in_o the_o intercession_n of_o the_o high_a priest_n as_o in_o levit._n 16._o 13_o 14_o 15_o 16._o to_o signify_v that_o all_o thy_o unworthiness_n that_o thou_o fear_v shall_v not_o hinder_v thou_o from_o come_v to_o god_n in_o christ_n for_o mercy_n ☞_o thou_o cry_v out_o that_o thou_o be_v vile_a and_o therefore_o god_n will_v not_o regard_v thy_o prayer_n it_o be_v true_a if_o thou_o delight_v in_o thy_o vileness_n and_o come_v to_o god_n out_o of_o a_o mere_a pretence_n but_o if_o from_o a_o sense_n of_o thy_o vileness_n thou_o do_v pour_v out_o thy_o heart_n to_o god_n desire_v to_o be_v save_v from_o the_o guilt_n and_o cleanse_v from_o the_o filth_n with_o all_o thy_o heart_n fear_v not_o thy_o vileness_n will_v not_o cause_v the_o lord_n to_o stop_v his_o ear_n from_o hear_v of_o thou_o the_o value_n of_o the_o blood_n of_o
