who_o she_o admit_v to_o minister_v in_o holy_a thing_n and_o with_o what_o gravity_n and_o solemnity_n this_o office_n be_v perform_v may_v be_v see_v in_o those_o public_a form_n that_o be_v appoint_v in_o our_o liturgy_n for_o the_o ordain_v of_o bishop_n priest_n and_o deacon_n as_o for_o marriage_n though_o we_o grant_v that_o in_o it_o be_v signify_v the_o mystical_a union_n betwixt_o man_n priest_n as_o well_o as_o other_o st._n peter_n himself_o have_v be_v a_o marry_a man_n whilst_o the_o church_n of_o rome_n forbid_v her_o clergy_n to_o marry_v thereby_o seem_v to_o have_v no_o great_a esteem_n for_o it_o she_o extol_v a_o single_a life_n more_o high_o above_o it_o than_o there_o seem_v good_a reason_n for_o and_o reckon_v they_o a_o more_o holy_a sort_n of_o person_n than_o other_o who_o abstain_v from_o marriage_n whilst_o yet_o they_o call_v it_o a_o sacrament_n it_o be_v well_o if_o they_o be_v not_o more_o unholy_a but_o i_o hasten_v to_o that_o of_o penance_n here_o indeed_o we_o do_v not_o with_o the_o church_n of_o rome_n exact_v from_o man_n a_o particular_a confession_n of_o all_o their_o private_a fault_n nor_o send_v they_o on_o long_a pilgrimage_n to_o be_v it_o to_o have_v our_o sin_n forgive_v but_o to_o be_v free_v from_o the_o punishment_n due_a to_o they_o now_o who_o be_v it_o that_o can_v keep_v off_o this_o punishment_n but_o god_n alone_o who_o have_v power_n to_o inflict_v it_o most_o certain_o no_o mortal_a man_n be_v he_o priest_n or_o pope_n or_o what_o he_o will_v can_v save_v a_o impenitent_a sinner_n from_o the_o wrath_n of_o comfort_n of_o the_o pious_a and_o humble_a who_o conscience_n be_v burden_v with_o the_o sense_n of_o their_o sin_n l._n i_o be_v the_o more_o willing_a to_o have_v you_o insist_v on_o this_o make_v they_o have_v more_o awe_n and_o reverence_n for_o he_o and_o whilst_o they_o often_o discover_v the_o secret_n of_o family_n of_o statesman_n and_o person_n of_o great_a quality_n they_o know_v how_o to_o make_v their_o advantage_n of_o these_o discovery_n for_o their_o own_o interest_n as_o occasion_n shall_v serve_v other_o abuse_n also_o there_o may_v be_v and_o i_o doubt_v often_o be_v make_v of_o this_o custom_n by_o the_o worse_a sort_n of_o man_n such_o as_o i_o be_o not_o willing_a to_o mention_v rather_o let_v we_o proceed_v with_o your_o author_n chap._n xi_o of_o invocation_n of_o saint_n l._n in_o the_o next_o place_n he_o plead_v for_o pray_v to_o saint_n which_o he_o reckon_v we_o may_v as_o lawful_o do_v as_o st._n paul_n when_o live_v desire_v other_o to_o pray_v for_o he_o as_o he_o also_o do_v for_o they_o and_o so_o he_o suppose_v that_o both_o angel_n and_o saint_n do_v pray_v for_o we_o in_o heaven_n and_o therefore_o we_o may_v pray_v to_o will_v intercede_v with_o god_n for_o we_o now_o for_o this_o we_o have_v no_o warrant_n from_o the_o holy_a scripture_n no_o such_o precept_n either_o in_o the_o old_a testament_n or_o the_o new_a nor_o yet_o the_o example_n of_o any_o pious_a person_n record_v in_o either_o nor_o be_v it_o the_o practice_n of_o the_o primitive_a church_n for_o some_o hundred_o year_n after_o our_o saviour_n to_o worship_v saint_n with_o the_o same_o devotion_n that_o they_o do_v god_n himself_o but_o there_o be_v no_o such_o danger_n in_o my_o desire_v the_o prayer_n of_o some_o live_a friend_n to_o who_o i_o be_o speak_v or_o write_v beside_o i_o know_v
that_o my_o friend_n hear_v what_o i_o say_v and_o will_v grant_v my_o desire_n but_o i_o have_v no_o manner_n to_o assurance_n that_o the_o saint_n in_o heaven_n hear_v or_o know_v the_o request_n which_o i_o make_v to_o they_o nay_o we_o may_v be_v sure_a that_o they_o be_v finite_a creature_n be_v not_o present_v every_o where_o nor_o can_v attend_v to_o thousand_o of_o suppliant_n in_o contrary_a to_o it_o and_o be_v carry_v on_o by_o course_n no_o less_o contrary_a to_o the_o example_n and_o precept_n of_o our_o bless_a saviour_n t._n and_o by_o this_o mean_v i_o hope_v you_o do_v still_o more_o and_o more_o perceive_v that_o a_o man_n may_v be_v a_o sincere_a good_a christian_n without_o embrace_v of_o popery_n and_o particular_o this_o foundation_n article_n of_o the_o pope_n supremacy_n on_o which_o have_v be_v so_o long_o let_v we_o proceed_v to_o somewhat_o else_o chap._n vi_o of_o purgatory_n and_o prayer_n for_o the_o dead_a and_o indulgence_n l._n the_o next_o rather_o than_o the_o lord_n jesus_n and_o the_o interest_n of_o religion_n but_o let_v we_o be_v wise_a now_o in_o this_o our_o day_n to_o consider_v the_o thing_n that_o belong_v to_o our_o peace_n
